Book Description
This volume presents a multi-disciplinary approach to the physical mechanisms which structure the shape, evolution and fate of the Galaxy. It contains 4 panel sessions (the recording transcripts of the galactic 'tertulias'), an introductory historical overview on the Galaxy research, 17 reviews, and the proceedings of more than 50 oral and poster contributions. This book is not a new edition of a previous volume but it is in some way related to the book "The Formation of the Milky Way" (1995; Cambridge University Press), which contains the proceedings of the first IAA-IAC-University of Pisa meeting, held in Granada ten years ago, on the formation of the Milky Way, (see Shore’s introduction). Where many other books focus their attention on singular galactic components or specific driving forces, this title provides a wide overview on the gaseous and stellar components and on the physical mechanisms which maintain the dynamical equilibrium of such a complex system as the Galaxy. The book, intended for graduate students and researchers, provides a valuable overview on the different physical mechanisms which drive the galactic gas-stars feedback.

Ten Tools for Self-Transformation is based on the concept that consciousness comes first... and from consciousness springs all physical reality.
Customer Reviews:
A Handbook for Positive Self-Transformation.......2006-07-08
THE NEW PERSPECTIVE is a handbook containing pretty much the best advice anyone could ever hope to find regarding personal transformation... all in one slim gem of a book. Authors Ron and Denny Reynolds wrote a book based on four decades of their work assisting clients and learning a variety of practical techniques. While the ten tools for transformation included in THE NEW PERSPECTIVE will likely feel familiar to you, they are the essential keys to overcoming most all inner blocks and seeming barriers to you living the life you most wish to live.
The ten tools for transformation include: change beliefs to change reality, choose love instead of fear, your high self has your greater good in mind, what you resist persists, what you focus attention on expands, what you put out is what you get back -- so do what excites you most, be willing to take a leap of faith, the universe reflects you back to you, there's great power in this present moment, and we are all as one.
THE NEW PERSPECTIVE contains numerous exercises and examples of each topic, is well organized, and is written in a friendly style that feels like the authors are dear friends who are sharing the secrets they use to create the best possible lives for themselves.
I highly recommend this book to all seekers who genuinely wish to live a life that's full of love and prosperity on every level.
Excellent Book for Increasing Awareness.......2006-01-18
"What you are about to read is based on a theory that turns inside out most beliefs about how the universe works. It embraces the concept that consciousness is primary. We believe that consciousness creates physical reality and not the other way around, as most of us were taught." - From the book
Husband and wife team Ron and Denny Reynolds have teamed up to share the results of personal experiments conducted in the laboratory of life. In The New Perspective: Ten Tools for Self-Transformation, the authors share the questions they've asked of life and the amazing answers they've derived from spiritual masters, books, and arguably the most important of all sources: personal experience.
The ten tools for self-transformation provided by the authors are as follows:
1. Change your beliefs, change your reality - Your beliefs create your reality
2. Choose love and choose love again - There are only two forces in the universe: love and fear
3. The universe unfolds as it should 100% of the time - Your Higher Self always has your greater good in mind
4. Things you resist tend to persist - Your Higher Self will keep things on your agenda until you get it
5. Focus on what you have, rather than what you don't have - What you put your attention on expands
6. Do what excites you the most - What you put out is what you get back
7. Be willing to take a leap of faith - You only lose by the mount of doubt you have
8. Everything is a symbolic reflection - It's done with mirrors
9. The power is in the present moment - The only time there is...is Now
10. All is one...One is all - There is only one of us: God, Goddess, All That Is
The New Perspective: Ten Tools for Self-Transformation also provides guided visualizations as well as exploratory exercises and worksheets to help you ascertain unconscious beliefs, create new ones, and set intentions for your highest good. The authors also share powerful anecdotes illustrating how these tools can help you cope with unexpected loss, dashed expectations, and troubling addictions.
While the perspectives in this book echo wisdom found elsewhere (The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, Loving What Is by Byron Katie, The Law of Attraction by Michael Losier, The Secret of the Shadow by Debbie Ford, What the Bleep Do We Know!?, A Course in Miracles and so on), it's nice to have such immediately helpful, profound wisdom encapsulated in one volume.
Written in an accessible, engaging style, The New Perspective: Ten Tools for Self-Transformation will empower you to release harmful beliefs, memories, and attachments, and create a life filled with love, harmony, peace, and abundance.
The New Perspective - inspiring & empowering.......2005-12-24
Ron & Denny Reynolds have put together an insightful, inspiring account of their uncovering of the awareness that consciousness is all there is...and of the implications for how this explains the life experiences we encounter. The authors provide practical self-empowerment tools based on clearly explained metaphysical concepts. With these tools and insights readers are empowered to appreciate their lives more fully and to become more open to the growth process that the mirror of perceived reality offers. Furthermore, the concepts needed to help readers learn to more consciously create their experienced reality are explained. Key personal growth exercises presented within the book's chapters are reprinted in an appendix for easy access. This book draws on the authors' own experiences combined with ideas from A Course in Miracles, channeled sources such as Bashar and Seth, and the modern physics paradigm of non-local consciousness and interconnectedness underlying all perceived reality. Prepare to release limiting beliefs and illusions of separateness as you join this couple on the timeless metaphysical journey of co-creation. While this book refers to the ideas presented as a "new" perspective, I would suggest that the perspective they share is really timeless. It just seems new when you've been operating from a different level of understanding before coming upon these concepts in your present life. In actuality, these metaphysical ideas have been present in spiritual and mystical traditions long before our present point in human history. In a society dominated by materialism and religious dogmas, the "new perspective" spiritual ideas are certainly new and refreshing to come upon.
Very worthwhile read.......2005-12-24
The New Perspective is a great little book and a very valuable contribution to field of spirituality and consciousness.
More and more people are awakening to the fact that there is more to reality than meets the eye. The physical reality that we perceive with our five senses is only one facet of what is, only one of the views available from the multifaceted prism of perception. Once we begin to explore the whole prism, we become aware that a broader set of rules is operating just beneath the surface of our ordinary reality. We become aware that we create our own reality through our consciousness and, through practice, we become aware that there are ways of navigating such consciousness and of mastering the creation process.
The New Perspective is a book that explores the process of becoming conscious perceivers and creators of ones life, shining light on the rules beneath the surface. The concepts on how to create a better life are explained very simply and effectively through highlighting ten principles/tools that anybody can easily experiment with, with just a little willingness to try something new. There are wonderful little exercises/processes for one to play with in each chapter, so that you can experience these new concepts for yourself, if you so wish.
The book is written in a very personal way by Ron and Denny, a husband and wife team, married for thirty odd years, blessed enough to have been able to share their journey of awakening together from the inception. The book is full of inspiring and very real anecdotes of what living a conscious life means, as Ron and Denny share interesting episodes from their life as a couple, as parents and as individuals on the path. As such the New Perspective is not only interesting and informational, but it is also inspirational. I was feeling a little down in the dumps before reading this book and by the time a got half way through it, I felt back in the driving seat of my life. I was reminded that if I do not like my current creation, I can change it, as I am not a victim of circumstance but a powerful creator. I was reminded that life is a game to play, where, with the right attitude and with a little help from Spirit, we can experience great fun, joy and adventure as we grow into more magnificence and beauty.
Thank you Ron and Denny for bringing forward so well this precious vibration.
Meaningful Addition to Your Library.......2005-11-05
The New Perspective-Ten Tools for Self-Transformation is a wonderful book to help guide you on a spiritual journey of life. Ron and Denny Reynolds have condensed over 40 years of their own spiritual growth into an easy to read and comprehend book. The ten tools are principles which help you co-create the life you want and deserve; rather than just being an observer and waiting for life to happen. The book helped me to fully appreciate that I am a spiritual being having a human experience. When I read the book the first time through, I felt as though they were talking directly to me. I'm reading it a second time to allow the message to sink in to a deeper level. I am truly grateful for the wisdom that Ron and Denny have shared. I love this book.

An insightful guide to conscious spiritual growth in relationships.......2006-11-11
This book is based upon the principles presented in the authors' previous book, The New Perspective, and explores how the spiritual self-awareness and self-discovery tools apply to growth and development in intimate relationships. With extensive personal experience from their own relationship as well as observations from clients and other persons they have encountered, this duo offer many wonderful insights and anecdotes. Their ideas empower us to become more conscious and open to transformation in our lives, keys to maintaining an ongoing dance of intimacy with our partners/loved ones. This book is fairly compact and offers specific exercises and tools to apply (note that some of the intimacy exercises require a partner, though you can work with a lot of this even if you don't have a partner), while presenting ideas in a very accessible and inspirational manner. The ideas may be familiar to those like myself who have been studying "new thought" and "new age" metaphysical and psychological materials. Yet, they are presented here in a way that is fresh and vital and easy to relate to what you may actually experience in your own relationships or observe in others. This book is a valuable resource independent of whether you read the preceding book in their New Perspective series.
Compassionate Tools for Building Sacred Relationships.......2006-10-13
ART OF RELATIONSHIP is an amazingly helpful book for anyone in a romantic relationship who truly desires greater intimacy, understanding and depth. Authors Ron and Denny Reynolds are superbly qualified as relationship experts, as they have weathered numerous challenges through their four decades together as a couple, and as counselors. Relationships truly are an art form, as they seldom fit hard-and-fast rules regarding what always works and what doesn't... and ART OF RELATIONSHIP provides assistance in those vexing gray areas in which we run into our own and each others' dark, or shadow, sides. Ron and Denny take turns sharing both sides of their experiences, demonstrating how it really is possible to move away from blaming to claiming... and how balance is required so we don't over-give or over-take.
My favorite part of this book is the part about getting conscious with one's truth by finding the story we are creating, and determining whether this story is based on real emotions or some kind of rationalization concealing a deeper truth. When we work together in our relationships and learn to develop trust of one another and ourselves, the most wonderfully enriching spiritual growth can occur. This is an extraordinary gem of a book that you'll want to get at least two of... one to keep on hand, and one to give or loan!
Excellent and inspiring.......2006-10-02
This is the second book in Ron and Denny Reynolds's new perspective series. I read their first book, "Ten Tools for Self-Transformation" and really liked it. I liked this one even more. Here Ron and Denny share of their experience and knowledge around relationships (something that they obviously know quite a lot about, as in the book we learn that they have been married for 45 years!). The perspective taken here is both metaphysical and psychological, with lots of very useful observations that are drawn not only from Ron and Denny's personal experience as a couple, but also from Denny's twenty years of work as a Marriage and Family Therapist. The result is a very grounded book, clear and to the point, which emanates however a beautiful and very high spiritual vibration. One can feel the hand of Spirit oozing through the pages, inspiring us to embrace each other and our reflection in the other, inspiring us to use "Relationship" as one of the most potent and satisfying vehicles for personal growth.
Because of my work as a healer, many of the concepts in this book are not new to me...but maybe because of this I found myself appreciating even more how neatly this information was packaged. Also knowing information and living information are two different things. As stated in the book, staying conscious is really at the center of our ability to have fulfilling relationships. But how often do we find ourselves sleeping at the wheel? I guess we need constant reminders and nudges and this book was just that for me. I found myself apologizing to a few people in my life immediately after reading the book, realizing I had gotten stuck into needing to be right. The person I had the disagreement with was really pleased I buried the war hatchet and we had our first proper conversation in weeks...The book was an excellent reminder of what is important and what is not, encouraging us to stay conscious enough in our dealings with our significant others, so that we may operate from Spirit rather than ego, so that we may grow together with love, compassion and mutual respect.
All in all, a very pleasant read and a wonderfully inspiring little book.

Book Description
Ron Reynolds was the Spurs goalkeeper for most of the 1950s. He died in 1999, and upon clearing out his house his family discovered a meticulously kept archive of Reynolds professional career—cupboards, shoeboxes, and carrier bags full of notebooks, programs, ticket stubs, press cuttings, photographs, souvenirs from foreign tours, and Reynolds' own match reports of all his games. Taken as a whole, the collection offers a fascinating insight into the life of a professional footballer half a century ago. Dave Bowler, who conducted lengthy interviews with Reynolds before he died, augments the visual material with a written account of Reynolds' life, featuring interviews with many of his contemporaries and also a few with whom he worked and who are still in the game today.

Famous & Forgotten Westerns Briefly Profiled Here.......2003-04-21
This 219 page book (thankfully with an index) has 1-3 black & white photos from about 75 westerns. Each show gets a 2-3 paragraph summary, even westerns that were only on for a couple of months. Westerns from the early 50s to the 90s (Brisco county Jr) are profiled. This book best serves someone who enjoyed more than a couple of the westerns because all the shows are covered very briefly, thus, a big fan of just 1-2 would be let down. I saw this rare book once at a national chain in '95, thankfully bought it, and have never seen it in stock again. Online auction sites great sources of episodes from many 50s-60s westerns.
Book Description
For more than a century, Mars has been at the center of debates about humanity’s place in the cosmos. Focusing on perceptions of the red planet in scientific works and science fiction, Dying Planet analyzes the ways Mars has served as a screen onto which humankind has projected both its hopes for the future and its fears of ecological devastation on Earth. Robert Markley draws on planetary astronomy, the history and cultural study of science, science fiction, literary and cultural criticism, ecology, and astrobiology to offer a cross-disciplinary investigation of the cultural and scientific dynamics that have kept Mars on front pages since the 1800s.
Markley interweaves chapters on science and science fiction, enabling him to illuminate each arena and to explore the ways their concerns overlap and influence one another. He tracks all the major scientific developments, from observations through primitive telescopes in the seventeenth century to data returned by the rovers that landed on Mars in 2004. Markley describes how major science fiction writers—H. G. Wells, Kim Stanley Robinson, Philip K. Dick, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Ray Bradbury, Robert Heinlein, and Judith Merril—responded to new theories and new controversies. He also considers representations of Mars in film, on the radio, and in the popular press. In its comprehensive study of both science and science fiction, Dying Planet reveals how changing conceptions of Mars have had crucial consequences for understanding ecology on Earth.
Customer Reviews:
Great Book About Mars and its Place in the Popular Culture.......2005-11-07
This is a rather dense book about Mars and its place in the popular culture. A great deal of space is spent on Mars related movies.
This book shows that the claims of Percival Lowell regarding Mars as a dying planet still heavily influenced scientists about Mars even into the present day. Scientists wanted to believe in water and plant life on Mars even after scientific evidence showed that was extremely unlikely.
Despite its denseness, this is an important and insightful book about Mars.
Customer Reviews:
The roleplaying supplement your preacher warned you about........2000-11-22
Remember when every barely informed Chicken Little was worried that roleplaying games were a guide to evil?
This is the book they were scared of.
In the pages of "Infernalism: The Path of Screams," the writers explore why sane and intelligent people would embrace evil, what it means to be evil and the cost. It's not pretty, it's not attractive, but it's some of the most thought-provoking reading I've come across, game-related or no.
It's absolutely essential for the wonderful "Mage: The Sorcerers Crusade" game, incredibly useful for the whole family of World of Darkness games and is, frankly, worth getting for any RPG game master whose game features servants of darkness (I'm planning on dusting it off and using it for an upcoming Dungeons and Dragons adventure, for instance, to add some weight to the classic evil wizards and clerics).
This is a book for genuinely mature readers not because there's blood and gore and bare breasts -- none of that has anything to do with maturity in modern society -- but because it asks you to think hard about moral choices and the impact they have on a person and their world.
Quite simply one of the best RPG books of all time.
The Devil Gets His Due........2000-01-14
Since time out of mind, the role-playing genre has been filled with antagonists who are EVIL, because (as far as we can deterime)they can be. From the very earliest RPGs to the best of the contemporary, the "evil" villian has been "gyped" for one reason or another. INFERNALISM: THE PATH OF SCREAMS finally gives the Devil his literary due. This book takes the servant of evil archtype of "I am evil, ha-hah-hah." and transforms it into a three-diminsional persona; one that almost anyone could sympathize with. This book is a neccessity for ANYONE who plays ANY role-playing games.
One word comes to mind: "WOW!".......1999-12-08
Get this book no matter what game you play, it is useful in more then a Mage:TSC game. I plan on using it specifically for Shadowrun in fact. This book covers WHY someone would traffic with evil, no matter if that evil is Satan, corrupted spirits, Horrors or insect spirits.
The quotes are excellent, the writing superb...and despite the constant notes that this is NOT an Infernal Players Guide...guess what, that's what it is. So go ahead and follow the Path of Screams, tell em Ken sent ya ;)
Finally, some depth to evil..........1999-11-12
This book does a very good job of delving into the motives, methods, and manners of the darkest beings in the World of Darkness: Infernalists. Covering the gamut from adherents to dark pagan gods to satan-worshippers to bane-possessed fomori to nephandi, this isn't really a Mage-specific book, or even a Renaissance-specific book. Instead, it is a good general guide to servants of darkness and corruption, useful for games set in any era using any of the supernatural races.
What /is/ Mage oriented in here is very good. Light on mechanics, heavy on paradigm and subjective perspectives. It gives a look into Nephandic seekings, infernal faith, dark tass, and qlippothic spheres.

The O'Reilly Cookbook series, with its to-the-point but illuminating coverage of programming subjects, meets the challenge of explaining how to write software as well as anything else on the market. When you're facing a coding problem--particularly in a language you're new to or haven't used in a while--and know there must be a proven way to solve it, the right Cookbook can often get you going in a hurry. C# Cookbook applies the formula to the language of Microsoft .NET, and is an addition to the line that more than a few programmers will appreciate.
Don't count on this book to solve big tasks for you. "I need some C# software that integrates with Avaya telephone switches and Siemens databases...:" No. Rather, this book shows you how to do the little jobs (converting an array to a delimited string, monitoring the event log, creating a bounded hashtable, and so on) that can stand in the way of prompt completion of a project. What's more, the coverage isn't limited to code samples. Stephen Teilhet and Jay Hilyard take advantage of the Cookbook series' Problem-Solution-Discussion format to teach you a thing or two about C#. You'll refer to this book often for quick answers and explanations. --David Wall
Topics covered: How to solve small but non-trivial problems in the C# programming language. Each of 17 chapters covers a major area of C# functionality--networking, regular expressions, filesystem, security, and so on--and contains a dozen or two entries on how best to solve programming problems.
Book Description
With C# Cookbook, 2nd Edition, you'll be able to learn and improve your mastery of both the C# language and the .NET platform. This updated bestseller has been completely revised to account for C# 2.0, the latest version of this popular object-oriented programming language. It also includes more than 100 new code solutions (over 300 overall) to common problems and tasks that you're sure to face as a C# programmer.
Nearly every solution, or "recipe," contains a complete, documented code sample showing you how to solve the specific problem, as well as a detailed discussion of how and why the underling technology works. This question-solution-discussion format is a proven teaching method, as any fan of O'Reilly's "Cookbook" series can attest to. In fact, no other source offers a learn-as-you-go format quite like this.
C# Cookbook, 2nd Edition is organized into 20 chapters, each of which focuses on a particular topic in creating C# solutions. Here are just some of what's covered:
- Numeric data types
- Strings and characters
- Classes and structures
- Generics
- Exception handling
- Delegates, events, and anonymous methods
- Filesystem interactions
- Web site access
- XML usage (including XPath and XSLT)
- Networking
- Threading
- Unsafe code
Best of all, you don't have to be an experienced C# or .NET developer to use C# Cookbook, 2nd Edition. You just have to be someone who wants to solve a problem now, without having to learn all the related theory first.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent!!!!.......2007-09-05
If you are just coming into C# or have been doing it for a while - it doesn't matter - BUY THIS BOOK!!! Oreilly as we all know, makes very good tech/programming books and this one is one of the best I've had so far. This will be a book that will spend much less time on my shelf and much more time next to me on my desk.
Good book.......2007-08-10
Being an advanced programmer I was looking for books to use as references or to further my skills. This book has proven a valuable asset.
Excellent C# 2.0 Resource.......2007-07-12
The C# Cookbook, Second Edition has been updated and revised for C# 2.0 and version 2.0 of the .NET framework, and despite the fact that version 3.5 of the .NET framework is imminent, it remains a must have book to have on hand. It is essentially a collection of examples showing how to solve specific programming problems (some of which you might not have even realised you have, such as boxing/unboxing and efficient string handling, to name just a few...)
The C# Cookbook has over 1100 pages and is arranged into 20 chapters, each of which focuses on a particular area in C#. Despite its size it is not daunting to read. Here are the topics covered:
1. Numbers and Enumerations
2. Strings and Characters
3. Classes & Structures
4. Generics
5. Collections
6. Iterators and Partial Types
7. Exception Handling
8. Diagnostics
9. Delegates, Events and Anonymous methods
10. Regular Expressions
11. Data Structures and Algorithms
12. Filesystem I/O
13. Reflection
14. Web
15. XML
16. Networking
17. Security
18. Threading and Synchronisation
19. Unsafe Code
20. Toolbox
This book is in O'Reilly's `cookbook' series Problem-Solution-Discussion format, and like other books in the series can either be read from cover to cover, or be used as a reference to shed light on a particular problem. Each `recipe' starts with a description of the problem, followed by a complete, documented code sample showing you how to solve it, along with a detailed discussion of how and why it works, and any drawbacks. This format can also serve as an excellent way of mastering aspects of C#.
Like the other O'Reilly cookbooks, this book manages to strike a perfect balance between reference and instruction on real problems developers encounter every day. Hats off to Jay and Stephen for creating such a useful resource.
If you are a developer who writes C# code for a living, I would be surprised if you do not find something useful the first time you pick this book up. If you are thinking of buying just one book on C# 2.0, make it this one. Highly recommended for beginners and experts alike.
[...]
Vital reference for solving problems and learning C#.......2007-04-14
Another book that's great as the occasional reference. This is another huge tome and it's chock full of topics from generics to security to XML.
Each topic is a recipe in a Problem/Solution/Discussion/See Also format. The solution is a snippet or set of snippets to solve the specific problem and the discussion is s walkthrough of the ins and outs of both the problem and how the solution fits the bill. Occasionally there's a good discussion of the pros and cons of solutions.
This isn't a book for reading cover to cover, but there's a lot to be learned browsing through the recipes, and you're sure to get answers on a wide range of topics including solid use of generics, exception handling, I/O, web bits, and networking. The chapters on security and reflection are particularly useful because they offer up good insights on approaching secure coding correctly and good techniques for dealing with reflection.
Highly Useful.......2007-02-19
