From the supplier: The IRS has begun a major restructuring initiative that will lead to the replacement of its existing geographically organized structure with a system that divides the IRS into four operating divisions that can handle particular taxpayer groups. Once the restructuring is completed, the IRS will have four units: the Wage and Investment Income Operating Division in Atlanta, GA; the Small Business and Self-Employed Operating Division in Washington, DC; the Large and Mid-Size Business Operating Division in central New Jersey; and the Tax Exempt Operating Division in Washington, DC.

From the supplier: The House Way and Means Subcommittee on Oversight conducted hearings at the end of summer 1999 on the IRS Reform and Restructuring Act of 1998 to review the efforts of the IRS in restructuring and modernizing as well as transforming itself into a service-oriented agency. IRS Commissioner Charles O. Rossotti believes that the law will take up to 10 years to complete but that the work may never be completed unless the agency receives suitable Congressional IRS appropriations.

IT'S A BIG WORLD OUT THERE--SOMEBODY'S GOT TO EAT IT!
There's never been a lasagna GARFIELD couldn't tackle, a burger he couldn't capture. GARFIELD always rises to the challenge--and so do the pounds! So whether he's cleaning his plate (and John's plate, and the neighbors' plates), prodding Odie to fetch an oncoming train, or celebrating his one-millionth meal of the day, GARFIELD's the cat that just doesn't stop--eating, that is!
Customer Reviews:
Great being a Garfield fan.......2005-08-10
Have been for a long time now and i'm glad that i decided to start back. Buying the books and its really convenient with them being released in a 3 pack. Its like a bunch of classics all wrapped together, love it.
Excellent!.......2005-07-28
My son recently became interested in Garfield, and he just loves the books. Its fun and very easy reading, so he enjoys it, while still practicing his reading skills. Its the best of both worlds! The service was great, the shipping was very quick, and the quality of the book was excellent. Thank you for putting many smiles on our faces!
Another stunning achievement for author Jim Davis!.......1999-04-03
This book left me breathless! I was stunned! A perfect blend of comedy, drama, and even science fiction! Everything was written just as it was should have been written. Genius. Simply genius. Pure genius.
Another fine literary drama by Jim Davis.......1999-04-01
The saga of Garfield, Odie, and Jon continues. This dramatic and moving yet highly disturbing portrait of late-nineties domestic suburban sexual denial forces the reader to delve into his/her own tortured sexual psyche, much like Catherine and Heathcliff but as a trio each exploring their own unrequieted desire. The tension is unbearable, and Garfield's repeated replacement of food for sexual yearning is telling of late twentieth-century sexuality. Odie's alienation as a result of Garfield's spurning for the love of his inanimate replacement for Jon, in the form of Pookie, is obviously a compelling metaphor for post-colonial AIDS isolation. Alone in the confusing mire of mixed signals that is their home, poor Garfield has no choice but to seek solace in the soft, safe, squishy bosom of Pookie, denying the pain and self-loathing so apparent in his everyday encounters. Odie, much like Hillary to Bill, pointlessly attempts again and again to win the affections of a reckless, wanton, yet powerful force who has become consumed by his meager life, ironically encouched in power. Jon's unrealized quest for gratification is symbolic of the fall of Communism and is a clever representation of the fall of the wall and the troubles of subsequent unification. Supplanted in a landscape of repression and denial, our three protagonists seek comfort in their base desires: coffee becomes the drug of choice, providing escape from the hell that is life, much like today's "raver" youth seeking comfort in "ecstasy" and "techno". Woe to he/she who proceeds beyond the cover of this prophetic tome! Another masterpiece accomplishment by Davis, sure to keep him in literary courses of the future.
About the books........1998-10-21
I like Garfield. He is the greatest cat and funniest I have ever read. He is great and funny. He is MAD PHAT. He always makes me say WORD when I get a new book.

Identity Politics on the Israeli Screen
ASIN: 0813533767 |
Book Description
Raz Yosef explores Israeli cinema's role in the creation of national identity and the complex ways the marginalization of queerness became necessary to that goal. Zionism was not only a political and ideological program but also a sexual one. The liberation of Jews and creation of a new nation were closely intertwined with a longing for the redemption and normalization of the Jewish male body. That body had to be rescued from anti-Semitic, scientific-medical discourse associating it with disease, madness, degeneracy, sexual perversity, and femininityeven with homosexuality. The Zionist movement was intent on transforming the very nature of European Jewish masculinity as it had existed in the diaspora. Zionist/Israeli films expressed this desire through visual and narrative tropes, enforcing the image of the hypermasculine, colonialist-explorer and militaristic nation-builder, an image dependent on the homophobic repudiation of the "feminine" within men.
The creation of a new heterosexual Jewish man was further intertwined with attitudes on the breeding of children, bodily hygiene, racial improvement, and Orientalist perspectiveswhich associated the East, and especially Eastern bodies, with unsanitary practices, plagues, disease, and sexual perversity. By stigmatizing Israel's Eastern populations as agents of death and degeneration, Zionism created internal biologized enemies, against whom the Zionist society had to defend itself. In the name of securing the life and reproduction of the new Ashkenazi Jewry, Israeli society discriminated against both its internal enemies, the Palestinians, and its own citizens, the Mizrahim (Oriental Jews).
Yosef's critique of the construction of masculinities and queerness in Israeli cinema and culture also serves as a model for the investigation of the role of male sexuality within national culture in general.

Inca.......2005-12-08
It is said that today there are no more Inca and little history left by them. Even if it is so, then Paul Steel's version of Inca Mythology inclines me to state that ancient Incas were great myth-makers and Andean culture has evolved its own unique mythology, offering a way, sometimes even provocative, to understand the world.
The Handbook of Inca Mythology contains a short description of ancient Inca and Andean Civilization as well as explains the reason why this culture has almost vanished under the influence of another, Spanish, culture. However, the only carriers of the Inca Mythology: Mythic Narratives, Themes and Concepts to which we refer today are the texts left by the chroniclers and Andean authors of the time of the Spanish invasion. Despite this limitation, the book offers an interesting interpretation of Incan myths, stories and beliefs, from which emerges a Mythology whose central concerns were similar to those of all the great civilizations: the creation of the world, death and rebirth, deities and heroes, and cults and shrines.
They seem extremely detailed and complex, with a large number of difficult names to read. However, the supporting examples portrayed in the book underline a logically striking way of seeing the world.
Unlike Western tradition, Andean stories and narratives depicting deities and cultural heroes from A to Z in graphic details would be a fascinatingly informative reading for those interested in the Inca Mythology.
However, The Handbook of Inca Mythology is let down by poor illustrations, and needs more, higher quality pictures and drawings in order to achieve its aims.

Errors, Errors, Errors..........2006-05-02
This book has too many errors. There is nothing more frustrating than to follow the steps outlined and find out it does not work because they did not Q&A the examples.
ie. They ask you to select a field from the table, but the field does not exist. The stored procedure does not include it.
You would have to know how to write SQL to correct this.
not helpful.......2006-04-05
it has an already made site which you study, but it does not go step by step, it just shows pieces of how this was done, and if you want yours to differ a little, you find no help to do so. Totaly annessecery book.
Good Starting Tutorial and CD includes the Software.......2006-03-29
ASP.NET has created a drag-and-drop environment to enable the non-programmer to design web pages of surprising complexity without having to learn very much programming at all. While this approach will probably not last forever as your site gets more complex, it is a fair way to get started. At least you can get on line quickly.
ASP used to stand for Active Server Pages (I'm not so sure that now it's just the three letters) which means that a base page is designed and then data for the page is brought out of a database. This means that there are two aspects of doing a web site: the basic design of the page from an artistic sense, and the design of the underlying data structure that comes from the database.
This book is an excellect tutorial for the beginner. It covers both the design of the page and the underlying database. It further uses uses software that is free from Microsoft. The software is included on a CD that is supplied with the book. But you may want to check the Microsoft web site to see if a later version is available.
Step by Step Guide to your first ASP.NET 2.0 website.......2006-02-04
Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition is a free IDE provided by Microsoft for beginners interested in learning Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 web development. This book, Wrox's ASP.NET 2.0 Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Starter Kit is an excellent resource for this software and provides a firm foundation for a jump start. Both David Sussman and Alex Homer are authors known for their work for beginners. They've kept the tutorial spirit going in this book and provided some excellent walk through and build-from-scratch examples. Beside ASP.NET 2.0 and VWD, this book also discusses and elaborate on general application design fundamentals, for instance database design, normalization etc, and hence ideal for candidates with not much formal knowledge of subject but want to be exposed to the tools of the trade.
If interested, you can read my detailed review of this book in the ASP.NET pro magazine.
