Book Description
Kajitsu, Taro, Natsu and Satsuki have nothing in common except each other. Abandoned by their parents, these foster-siblings have forged a family of their own. But life in a house without grown-ups isn't as ideal as it sounds. As kids, Kajitsu and Natsu were once the best of friends. Now that they've rebuilt that friendship as teenagers, will the feelings they have for each other cross the line into romance? Passions rise as the bonds that brought these kids together threaten to tear the new family apart.

Great for those trying to find a new series.......2007-01-12
I was looking for a new series to start and after browsing for a while i found this one. I decided to try it and it was great. I started from the first one and the story and art just keeps getting better and better. The main female character isnt the usual squealing chick chasing after her crush in some high school. This book has alot of emotions (happy and sad) and it brought me to tears multiple times. As the story goes on, the characters develope and become more interesting. I suggest you start from the first one and if you are buying this, get the fifth volume along with it or you will be tortured by the cliffhanger. This series is addictive in a good way.
Crossroad is just getting juicier and exciting!!.......2006-09-28
I just finished reading this manga and I felt that I have to review it. I can say that Crossroad is getting juicier and interesting with every volume. This volume is introducing us to two new characters, Erica-san and Hayami-san. Of course, we should not forget Akai-sensei. I know that he is not a new character but his appearance in the manga made the events get much more exciting.
It seems that Akai-sensei has fallen for Kajitsu and things have started to heat up between them when a phone call put an end it to the steamy, intimate moment between them. I cannot deny that I wasn't disappointed because I was. I wanted to see how things will develop between those two.
Erica-san wants desperately to win Natsu over but she didn't succeed until the very end of the volume. He decided to go out with her so not to let his family fall apart by dating his beloved step sister, Kajitsu.
Kajitsu was so hurt and sad when Natsu told her that he decided to go out with Erica that she ended up on Akai-sensei's doorstep. Whatever will happen between those two in the next volume? I think we should wait and see.
In the next volume, we will see what will happen with Natsu and Erica, Erica and Hayami, and Kajitsu and Akai-sensei. Let's just wait and see what will come of them.
To those of you who haven't buy this volume yet, please do and you will never regret it and to those of you who never had a chance to read Crossroad, I highly recommend it and you will not regret it. It is worth every penny.
All my thanks are extending to the Go! Team and Shioko Mizuki for bringing out such beautiful manga and art. The art is just keep getting better and beautiful.

Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul: Stories of Feline Affection, Mystery and Charm (Chicken Soup for the Soul)
ASIN: 0688169821 |
Book Description
Cats have their paws on the pulse of truth, but until now they've never let it out of the bag. So many kitties have so much to say. Together, they are a mighty voice of inspiration. Because even a cat needs a reminder that he or she is on this earth to have a good time. And everyone knows that when a cat feels good, people feel better, too.
So dig in your claws and lusten for a while to Woody, Clem, Marble, Pepper, Kahlil, and their friends. Tap your toenail, lick a whisker, nod your head, and breathe deep the refreshing scent of catnip.
ON HUMANS:"No fur, no paws, no tail. They run away from mice. They never get enough sleep. How can you help but love such an absurd animal?"
ON SELF-ESTEEM:"Make this the motto at your house: Yes, I can do anything! Then try it. Leap from the matel to the piano. Grab that five pound ham off the table."

Tugs On the Soul!.......2005-10-01
What an absolute delight this book is! As a cat owner I was amazed at how the author was able to put down on paper the mind musings of our furry family members. I have read this book so many times...just opening to any page and it can always warm my heart, make me laugh or make me cry. I have gifted this book to many cat owner friends and family and they agree that this is a "must have" in any kitty household!
Very appealing book.......2003-07-24
I purchased this book as a gift for a fellow cat lover, and it was a big hit. I recommend it for anyone who loves cats and is not yet familiar with the Cat's Bill of Rights.

light-hearted fun.......2003-04-12
a fun-loving, spirited narration from a cat's perspective. Provides levity and proves refreshing to cat lovers who spend too much time in concerns of the human world and not enough in the Zen state of their furry friends.
Cheerful, humorous and beats anything in the Chicken Soup for Human Soul department.
Meoowwwww!
Every cat owner should own a copy.......1999-09-07
While you read this book, (probably while your cat is trying to get your attention by pushing the book down, or trying to paw at your lap) you will realize why so many people own cats, and why they are so fun to play with. You won't ever look at your cat the same, because you will always be trying to figure out exactly what is in his mind.

Book Description
Explores the historical evolution of Belgian cinema as well as its contemporary situation within the evolving contexts of global media and European unity.
In presenting the first English language study of Belgian cinema, Split Screen explores the fascinating history of a cinema largely determined by linguistic division and beset by problems of cultural identity. This "split screen" characterizes the Belgian cinema, which has not received the critical praise that it deserves, despite the recent international successes of films like Toto the Hero, and the achievements of individual directors such as Henri Storck, Andre Delvaux, and Chantal Akerman. In surveying the evolution of Belgian cinema from its beginnings to the present day, Philip Mosley locates all the major feature films, describes the crucial intervention of the state in film production, and reveals undervalued Belgian traditions in documentary, in animation, in short films, and in a colonial cinema created partly by missionaries in the former Belgian Congo. Due to the political and economic transformations affecting Europe, the reforms of the Belgian state, and the increasing globalization of world media industries, Belgian cinema can now inscribe itself within new national and international contexts.
Book Description
From 1989 to 1991, Barry Dornfeld had an unusual double role on the crew of the major PBS documentary series Childhood. As a researcher for the series, he investigated the relationship between children and media. As an anthropologist, however, his subject was the television production process itself--examining, for example, how producers developed the series, negotiated with their academic advisors, and shaped footage shot around the world into seven programs. He presents the results of his fieldwork in this groundbreaking study--one of the first to take an ethnographic approach to the production of a television show, as opposed to its reception.
Dornfeld begins with a broad discussion of public television's role in American culture and goes on to examine documentaries as a form of popular anthropology. Drawing on his observations of Childhood, he considers the documentary form as a kind of "imagining," in which both producers and viewers construct understandings of themselves and others, revealing their conceptions of culture and history and their ideologies of cultural difference and universality. He argues that producers of culture should also be understood as consumers who conduct their work through an active envisioning of the audience. Dornfeld explores as well how intellectual media professionals struggle with the institutional and cultural forces surrounding television that promote entertainment at the expense of education. The book provides a rare glimpse behind the scenes of a major documentary and demonstrates the value of an ethnographic approach to the study of media production.
Book Description
It's all here! Fifty-four years of toys! The toys pictured and listed in this book represent the immense volume of items produced from 1947, when the Matchbox company was founded, to mid-2001, including their popular diecast vehicles along with playsets, dolls, plastic kits, robots, and ephemera all in one massive volume--now in its third edition! The international scope of Matchbox toys is illustrated through catalogs, boxes, and labels on toys printed in a dozen languages. Certain toys have been made for sale in specific countries or to promote specific companies or products. The numbering system on miniatures changed in 1982 when worldwide toys began different numbering systems. The result of all these variables is a fascinating and infinite variety of Matchbox toys.

One of the best books on Matchbox Toys........2005-09-06
Its a big book and plenty of clear colour photos of so many examples throughout.covers every era of Matchbox toys. This type of book is superior over the wide but short books printed by this publisher. There is so much information here no matter whether you are devoted collector or just love looking at the old toys you had. This book will please most people. Its good value and high quality.
Great Matchbox reference book !!!.......2000-09-16
This is a great reference book, full of details and history about evolution of Matchbox toys. If you love Matchbox, this is a must. Charlie Mack is a true expert on the subject, and this is for sure the most complete and updated information about the subject. The only complains are: cover picture is not representative at all. Pictures are excelent but could be larger for the "reg. wheels" and "miniatures", and several rare cars and boxes are ommited (no space probably). However, "Tomart's Price Guide for Hot Wheels" have a much better and contemporary graphic design and many more pictures in a smaller book, and also with more description of individual models.
Encyclopedia of Matchbox Toys Review.......2000-06-29
I feel this is a great book. Why? It has very much attention to the details of the hobby. The pictures are helpful. They price guide is quite accurate and good for reference. Mr. Mack did a wonderful job putting this book together. Alot of time and energy must have went into the book and it paid off. I recommend it to new and experienced collectors alike. Great book!
A very comprehensive and accurate guide to Matchbox toys........1999-06-26
This book thoroughly covers the vast line of Matchbox Diecast from its early begiinings as Lesney and the regular wheeled vehicles up to the present just before Mattel procured Matchbox. It is accurate, comprehensive, and well thought out. The photography is excellent, much better than Charles Mack's earlier books. Pricing is optimistic but because this book is the foremost authority of Matchbox I believe dealer/retail prices are based on the information herewith. An excellent resource for any serious collector.
The best Matchbox book and price guide........1998-09-17
This book has a photo of every model made since Lesney made a crude toy in 1948. The largest and most complete price and variation guide around. The only Matchbox book you need

Excellent book on the physical architecture of C++ applications.......2007-02-24
This book assumes you're already proficient in C++ and basic OOP design principles, and considers design at a level one higher than individual classes. You'll learn how to arrange your classes into modules and packages, and then how to organise communication within and between these higher-level constructs. Nonetheless, the book never forgets that the important thing is working C++ code, not diagrams and acronyms, so it's always practical.
There are two core advantages to the designs discussed in this book: maintaining the correct level of abstraction, and reducing recompilation times. Performance issues always run the risk of becoming outdated fairly quickly, and to a certain extent, some of the timing material is no longer relevant. In particular, Sutter and Alexandrescu, in C++ Coding Standards, explicitly disavow the advocated method of external header guards. Additionally, although namespaces are mentioned, they are not used much, and the older method of using prefixes is recommended instead.
The last part of the book drops down to more low level concerns, such as Schwartz counters, operators, and function arguments. This leans heavily on the likes of Effective C++, C++ Strategy And Tactics and C++ Programming Style, and to be honest, you'd be better off looking in more modern books for up to date best practices. For example, in this book assignment is implemented through the copy-and-destroy idiom, which is nowadays considered to be a mistake.
But this is a big book, and you won't be buying it for the lower-level stuff, but for the large amount of higher level material that makes up the bulk. The main practices and metrics remain extremely relevant, the text is clear and well written. And there just isn't many other places where you can go and read about this sort of stuff. It's a must-read.
The Best Computer Science Book I've Ever Read - Period.......2006-01-06
I read this book back in 1998. It is the foundation for my understanding of the design of object oriented software. Prior to reading this book I programmed in C++ for more than 8 years. It was apparent to me that there were gaps in my understanding of how to design medium and large scale object oriented systems. This is a huge and dense book, but as I read through it, many times a light went on in my head (those ah ha moments).
The book also gives specific details about consideration for the C++ language. C++ has changed over the years, and the examples do not use newer language features. I do not feel that this is important. The code clearly illustrates the ideas, which are not limited by the state of C++ at the time the code was written.
Regardless of the object oriented language you use to develop software this book will teach invaluable concepts that I have not found explained elsewhere.
Zzzzzzzzzzz... Wha? Huh? No, I wasn't asleep!.......2005-05-28
I'm sorry, this book is a snore. I read a lot of C and C++ books and this one is by far the most boring yet. That's my main complaint with this book. However, more relevant to what people would like to know, here is a list of items I didn't like:
- Duh. Most of this stuff is common sense to me. It might not be for others, but for me I found myself saying "But I've always done that!" more than I would of liked to from a book of this size and price.
- Size. I'm sorry, there is absolutely no reason for the size of this book. A lot of sections could have been trimmed EASILY such as Chapters 5 & 6 (Levelization and Insulation, respectively). These chapters span over 130 pages each. That's enormous for a chapter and easily kept me from reading in chunks. I personally like to at least read a chapter a day and learn something from that chapter when I'm done. I don't like to have to break a chapter up. There are books that are 130 pages long! My attention span just doesn't hold properly with large chapters like that. If you don't like long chapters, avoid this book. The chapters could of easily been broken up into 50 - 60 pages (Which I personally still find long, but make exceptions for).
- Out of date. This doesn't really affect the book overall, but it is quite out of date.
This book does teach a valid topic though. Which is why I gave it 3 stars. It does a pretty good job at it despite it being long winded and boring.
Dated book, not that great.......2003-07-24
This is a well written book, but not a well written book on C++. It is also not very good at being efficient with the amount of things you learn in the number of pages you read. A lot of subjects are repeated over and over again it seems just to make this book appear longer than it really is to match its title of "Large Scale C++ Software Design". Many of the examples and methods proposed in this book do not lead to efficient coding methods but more or less a way decrease the time required to compile programs which is a topic that does not deserve an entire book devoted to. In this whole book I learned maybe one technique that I would probably not use anyway. The code in this book isn't indicative of its title and if you thumb through the book quickly when you pick it up you might come under the impression that it is a book with a lot of code examples, but it doesn't have much at all. The code is all very similiar and there isn't much variety at all. If you learn well from reading text alone then I suppose you could benefit from some of the examples in this book, however I believe you can find other books on C++ that will lead you in the right direction when it comes to C++ software design.
A Must-Read, but Dated and Wordy.......2002-07-24
This book is a must-read for any serious C++ programmer. Why? Because it is the only decent treatment of physical C++ design available.
Physical design issues, if not addressed, will inexorably cripple any sufficiently complex, performance-sensitive C++ project. Moreover, there is never any time to worry about physical design quality in the heat of battle, so you really need to deal with it up front.
Having said that, the book is not without its flaws.
First, the age of the text is evident. It doesn't address the interchangeability of typedefs and classes for certain purposes, it doesn't fully appreciate the power of namespaces, and it is rife with "the World didn't go that way" conventions. Fortunately, this doesn't prevent the book from getting its point across, but you do need to take some of its "rules" with a grain of salt.
Second, it's longer than it needs to be. This isn't so much of a liability, because it reads faster as a result. Still, its redundancy and long-windedness is sometimes tedious.
But all in all, if you've bothered to read this review, then you probably ought to own a copy of this book.

Book Description
The worldwide semiconductor community faces increasingly difficult challenges as it moves into the manufacturing of chips with feature sizes approaching 100 nm and beyond. The magnitude of these challenges demands special attention from the metrology and analytical measurements community. New paradigms must be found. Adequate research and development for new metrology concepts are urgently needed. Topics include: integrated circuit history, challenges and overviews, front end, lithography, interconnect and back end, and critical analytical techniques.
Characterization and metrology are key enablers for developing new semiconductor technology and in improving manufacturing. This book summarizes major issues and gives critical reviews of important measurement techniques that are crucial to continue the advances in semiconductor technology. It covers major aspects of process technology and most characterization techniques for silicon research, including development, manufacturing, and diagnostics.
The editors believe that this book of collected papers provides a concise and effective portrayal of industry characterization needs and the way they are being addressed by industry, academia, and government to continue the dramatic progress in semiconductor technology. Hopefully, it will also provide a basis for stimulating advances in metrology and new ideas for research and development.

This book cleared up any questions I had about how to build and approach an object oriented project. Once you get through the first 3 chapters it is interesting (to me). The book can be read as a reference. You don't have to start from the beginning and work your way through to the end.
