Alien meets Dawn of the Dead! Hot naked chicks in space running from half frozen zombies... what's not to like. I LOVED IT!!! A bunch of astronauts get woken up from being cryofrozen only to find out that half of their crew has been turned into zombies. It's a fight for their life as they make their way to the other side of the ship to try and save themselves from certain death. What happens? You'll have to find out for yourself. All I can say is, really fast read, tons of action and many naked babes (some of them zombies -- kinda of a weird turn on -- hey i'm a guy).

A big let down.......2006-01-06

I don't normally write reviews, even when I'm let down by the product. But I feel a sense of duty seeing as I have such a love for the horror genre and wouldn't wish others to be as let down as I was. Having recently tried to get back into comics, at the age of 26, I bought the Walking Dead graphic novels as well as Containment as a starting point. I love almost all things zombie and between movies and books as well as the odd table top game and zombie pencil and paper game manual I own quite a stash of zombie goods. I started by reading the Walking Dead comics and was very impressed and enjoyed them greatly but upon moving on to read containment I was as equally unimpressed. The story seemed original ( although ripped off from Alien ) but the follow through was very weak and the writing didn't help. While I understood that the artist wanted the comic to look dark it was so over done that I felt everything just blurred together. The character who replaces the Android from Aliens as the trouble maker seems to do so out of no where. He was friends with them when they set out on this long journey but somehow while sleeping he suddenly woke up a total jerk, perhaps if this was explained a bit more it would be plausible. Bottom line just buy the Walking Dead if you want a good zombie comic

My brother in law read this book (in a funny voice) to my four-year old son and they were both laughing out loud. What a great introduction to puns. After reading the book, it became a fun car-ride game to make up our own knock-knock jokes.

I bought this book for my son as he loves to tell jokes. The book is unimpressive in how the cover and interior are set up. there is no color to the pages and the pictures are not very entertaining. There were however several of the jokes that my son liked and has repeated. If you want a book that will give your young child some good jokes to tell this is a good start, however if your child is more of a visual learner this is not the best book for that.

Jokes for kids?.......2007-01-16

I purchased this book for my five year old son as he loves to tell jokes. I was very disappointed in the book and the jokes included. There were only one or two jokes in the entire book that were funny and easy for my son to remember and recite. I expected knock knock jokes or easy one liners. My son did not like most of the jokes and has not picked it up since we first read it. I would say skip this book.

You don't have to be a fan of jazz, Japan, or anything else to enjoy this book! The author's own insights and enthusiasm, captured in deft prose, will have you eating sushi and browsing the jazz section of your local music store in no time. Read it for the fascinating view it gives into both the jazz and Japanese cultures, or simply read it because it is extraordinarily well written.

Great beginner bk for a low price!.......2002-06-06

This is an excellent book for the beginner or casual chess player who wants to learn the basics of "real" chess. It is compact and readable as it is well-organized and is well-supplied with diagrams.

It covers the basic principles behind openings by going through some basic openings step-by-step, a la Chernev's Logical Chess, and gives a decent beginner's introduction to middle game strategy. The endgame primer is very good.

This bk is worth a look as it has a lot of clear explanations for the price. My favorite beginner's books are Seirwan/Silman's Play Winning Chess, Chess for Idiots, and Chernev's Logical Chess, but the Seirawan is hard to find and the Chernev is best when augmenting a beginner's bk like this one that tries to cover all the bases.

The shortcomings are: lack of emphasis of basic tactical moves (pins, skewers, forks), and descriptive notatation, which may bother some. However, if you're already wedded to algebraic, you probably don't need this book anymore!

In sum, this is a solid book in a competitive and difficult market (chess bks for beginners).

A book for neophytes.......1999-07-22

A person who already plays chess and knows a little strategy could benefit from this little book, but those seeking to truly master the game should probably look elsewhere. I see this as a good "last" chess book for someone whose chess aspirations are simply to play a better game against an irksome uncle or some pals they can't quite beat during lunch. Euwe and his co-authors present chess as a sort of military exercise with plenty of jargon an army veteran might be familiar with, but perhaps a little too light on chess terminology. There are plenty of diagrams with arrows, "bridges" and other odd metaphors and very little in the way of variations or other dry, but often necessary, analysis.

A new player who wants to become a strong, tournament player would do better to look elsewhere for a beginner's guide. B.H. Wood's, Easy Guide to Chess; Seirawan & Silman's, Play Winning Chess; and Larry Evans', New Ideas in Chess would all make better instructional guides (depending on how far along the beginner is -- the former book is the simplest, the latter the most difficult).

This book is not typical of Euwe's work, almost all of which are leading examples of their genre. My Euwe favorites are; The Road to Chess Mastery, Judgement and Planning in Chess, and The Development of Chess Style. The latter has been updated and revised by John Nunn and I highly recommend it.

Quality book on chess fundamentals.......1999-03-03

An excellent value at $7.95! This is a chess book that explains chess fundamentals clearly and intelligently. A great no-frills book for those searching for concise explanations of opening theory, the importance of the center, middlegame theory and endgame theory.

Good Concept to Get Started Fast.......2005-03-29

Macromedia is clearly devoted to the web page production business. Fireworks is their graphics package that is ideally suited for producing the kinds of images you want on web sites. It is also smoothly integrated into the rest of their packages such as Dreamweaver, which is hands down the preferred web authoring package available at the professional level.

If you're thinking about Fireworks but aren't sure, you can go to the Macromedia site and down load a free trial of the package to see if you like it. As for the literature that comes with it, you will find that this book is a much better option.

The Visual Quickstart Guides us an interesting format where each page has one column of text and another of screen images. The idea is to show and explain at the same time. This is a very easy and quick way to get up and running on a software package. The concept is good, and Sandee Cohen does a great job here.

Having bought Studio MX 2004 because I wanted the easiest way to integrate graphics with DreamWeaver, I struggled and struggled to use Fireworks. I use Photoshop, but read how great Fireworks was and wanted to try it. I found that it's HELP is terrible, and not very useful to new users. Then I found Sandee Cohen's book, and all is now clear. This is a great book, walking the user systematically through how to use Fireworks, and emphasizing the ease and simplicity of keystroke shortcuts. Very highly recommended.
