This was the most thoroughly informative, entertaining, and magnificent piece of literature I have ever read on any subject. Richard Doernberg sheds light on some of the most difficult concepts in U.S. tax law. His clever insights and piercing intellectual observations will make you reconsider your thoughts on life, the universe, and everything. Doernberg is truly the best thing to happen to international taxation since the check the box regulations.

The International Tax Nutshell is a wonderful overview of international tax. As some comments have indicated, it is a tough area, but Doernberg does a great job of guiding people through the various twists and turns.

Disregard reviews criticizing the technical nature of this book. I became a fond user of the Nutshell series when I was in law school; I don't think that these books were ever intended for use by the Average Joe. By its very nature, the subject matter is technical and can only be simplified so much. There is a reason why there is no such book as "International Taxation for Dummies" or "Brain Surgery for Dummies".
These books are great to use as a springboard for further research and study of the issues covered. I would recommend the book to students and practitioners of accounting, business, and taxation.

It a good book in terms of what to spect from a "in a nut shell" book, but the topic is reeaaally boring.
Too technical for somebody just wanting to get an idea of this subject.

This would probably be a great book for a law student, but not for a lay person. I consider myself to be fairly intelligent, but I had a bit of difficulty wading through this to find the little bit of info that I needed. I'm sure it's also a great book for someone with a tax background.

Great collection.......2003-06-14
Anyone not familiar with Lewis Grizzard ought to be in for a treat reading these books. I grew up reading Grizzard in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and I remember laughing out loud at the breakfast table so, so many times. Grizzard was a terrifically funny man, southern to the core and wrote basically about what he knew best- life in the south. Grizzard was more than just a funny guy, however, he was a real writer, a true talent. This collection makes me realize how much I miss him. You don't have to be southern to appreciate Grizzard, however, no more than you'd have to be from the Midwest to like Garrison Keillor. This is Grizzard at his best.

One of the best of the many .NET books I have read.......2007-08-08
I like Kate Gregory's writing style and her ability to get very complex and detailed information presented in an interesting and informative manner. I especially appreciate her ability to describe the interop capabilities of utilizing both managed and unmanaged C++ code. This book is the best that I have found in explaining this complex subject in a clear manner. This book is a little too complex for a beginner.
I do not normally write book reviews, but this is an outstanding book by a very proficient author.
Great read if your moving to .NET.......2006-05-18
I've purchased serveral books on .NET and this is the first I have finished. I really liked the fact that the book was short and to the point. This made for a quick read.
One of the surprising things in the book is how she takes some time to explain her methodology to application development and give some great examples. You won't find that in any other book.
If you're a C++ programmer looking to move into .NET I highly suggest this book as your first read. You won't be dissapointed.

This is a very good quick read text to use in moving from C++ to Mananged C++ or .NET. Very clear writing with succinct examples.
Excellent Book - Doesn't get any better than this.......2004-08-10
This is an excellent book to start learning C++ .NET 2003. As with many people out there, I find myself often disappointed with the Microsoft on-line help and especially with the fact the many examples are only in VB.NET or C#.NET. I am one of those guys that goes to the local Book Superstore and sits in the corner reviewing several books on a subject trying to find a good selection. If you want to learn C++ .NET, I challenge anyone to go find a copy at a bookstore and look through it. I think you will buy it like I did.
Kate Gregory does an excellent job in describing how to work with Managed and Unmanaged C++ with .NET. She also provides excellent overviews on many aspects of C++.NET. The book doesn't cover everything about C++.NET, no single book possibly could. It will always depend on the target audience. But this is a great book for the beginner and intermediate developer. Her writing is clear and concise with example code that is easily understood.
Bottom line - If you want to learn C++ .NET - CHECK OUT THIS BOOK!

Great For Experienced Programmers.......2005-09-19
This a a very good book for someone who has programming experience. Fundamental concepts are in the book, but they are not belabored. The book quickly gets on with C# and what it takes to create real applications that do something more than say "Hello World".
If this is your first experience with programming, then this book is not for you. If you have done some programming and are moving to C# for the first time, then this book is a great addition to your library.
No wasted time with this one.......2004-11-25
For any programmer coming over from another language, I really think this book offers the most bang for the buck (and for your time). I'm a VB6 programmer who wasted a lot of time and money on other books that either offer too much hand-holding (next to no code, everything through forms designer) and wasted time on extensive examples building software I'll never use or focused only on console C# applications with no explanation of topics like ADO.NET, winforms, etc. I need to use C# at work and like many programmers, I'm busy and have little time to waste. Yet, I also needed a comprehensive book because the real world of business programming requires the use of data-access technologies (ADO.NET), security, network technologies, etc. This book succeeds on all counts. The coverage is surprisingly comprehensive and details are well fleshed out. Even using ADO.NET in code is covered while many other books only cover using it through form controls in Visual Studio (anyone who writes database-connected applications knows that you really need a high level of control of shaping the data before you can present it). Nothing is dwelled upon for long so be warned that the book does move fast and info is densely packed into each page.
Excellent for people who know some programming.......2004-10-26
This is a very solid book. It assumes you know the basics of programming like loops, modules and the likes... If you are familiar with any regular programming language (like C, C++, Java, PERL, python, ruby, even shell scripting) then this books is probably your best bet to learn C# quickly.
There is no whole chapters made to get you to write a "for" loop here, you must have programming concepts to really benefit from this book.
As a programmer, I really enjoyed it and was able to get to work quickly on C# programs. If you are totaly new to programming, get another book to get your feet wet before jumping on this one.
