Needed some guides for promotion preparation. This is one of several that I purchased, and I think all helped a little in different areas.

If you have a lot of time to prepare and study (and you always should be preparing for promotion in ANY job) then get as many books & guides as you can. They will help you do better now, and get recognized now. When promotion time comes - you will be ready!

Very useful information. This book is good for 10-25 points on your score. If you have never sat for an assessment center this book will take away some of the mystery and give you the advantage.

I LOVED this book- I know there are a few who find it demeaning and rude, but that's kind of the point. If you're seriously searching for a name, this isn't your book- this is just for fun and laughs and the author even makes fun of his own name! After you've bought the 25,000 names books, this is a great one to thumb through- we all know it isn't meant to be serious!! I've never laughed so hard! It's a good gag shower gift (or for someone who has picked out a name you don't like!! :)) and I buy it for all my friends- who have a sense of humor!! :) Enjoy!

If you have a sense of humor, than this book is hilarious. It's a great way to lighten the mood while trying to debate a name for your child. It's not meant to be serious. It's not meant to be a true resource. It's meant to be funny and it achieves it's goal. If you want "smart" comedy, buy something else. If you want something to make you laugh while considering names for your baby, this is the book for you. It's funny even if you're not naming a baby. But don't take it seriously. The author doesn't. Why should you?

Okay! If you really need to know about how every name on the planet can be ridiculed you could buy this book but why bother!
Children who tease each other for their names on school playgrounds world wide will be more clever and not so smug, cynical and snide!
So go to any local school play ground and listen awhile. It's cheaper. Pick a name that you love and buy something nice for your baby with the money that you might have spent on this foolish book.

The only problems I have with _Italian Movie Goddesses_ are that it isn't long enough, and that there aren't more pictures of each of the featured actresses. The book (which, by the way, though published in Italy, is in English) reviews the lives and careers of some 80 of the leading beauties of Italian cinema since its inception. Internationally renowned stars like Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida, Laura Antonelli and Claudia Cardinale are amply covered, naturally, but just as valuable is the attention that's paid to stars not as well-known outside Italy such as Silvana Pampanini, Isa Miranda, Giulietta Masina, Rossana Podesta and Alida Valli. Not merely a fine photographic collection, but an important basic reference work on actresses too seldom seen in the English-speaking world except on import tapes and DVD's. Several of these—Seinfeld, Mad About You, The Nanny, and Friends—were among the most popular and influential of all television shows over this period. Viewers also saw a rising number of "Jewish" dramatic series and Jewish supporting characters overall. Vincent Brook asks two key questions: Why has this trend appeared at this particular historical moment and what is the significance of this phenomenon for Jews and for non-Jews?

Paypal Hacks is a useful book to add to your programming library.
1. Clearly written, easy to understand and implement.
2. All meat, no fluff - a programmers delight.
3. Chapter 1 - 3 gives a "Leg-Up" on understanding how Paypal works- useful for a non-programmers too.
4. Chapter 4 explains how to program and encrypt payment buttons.
5. Chapter 5 shows many shopping cart coding techniques.
6. All you need to know about subscriptions.
7. Chapter 6 IPN and PDT among othe things, shows ways to use Instant Payment Notification.
8. Chapter 8 API & also explains how you can try out your programming ideas using Paypal's developers network for free.

All chapters are "Chocked Full "of programming code, shortcuts and concepts.
Personally I found this book was useful in helping me quickly build a shopping cart of 1500+ items.

excellent job with the Hacks series in general and this book is
no exception.The book contains many useful tips & tricks for
anyone wishing to use Paypal as their main e-commerce

Like all the "Hacks" books from O'Reilly, this one is quite solid. There's plenty of info about the things you know about but don't quite understand, as well as things you didn't know anything about.

Of course, it runs into the problem that any book of this nature runs into - which coding language to use for the examples. Personally, I'd like to see a bit less code and a bit more high level discussion about the concept of what the code should be doing (and thus be able to easily translate into any programming language).

But overall, this is a solid buy.

This is basically a book on how to get the most out of PayPal. Whether you are trying to make a purchase, sell and item, or setup a complete e-Commerce solution based on PayPal you will find the information on how to do it here. Some of the information in the book includes how to create an account, what to do when you forget your password, how to get things fixed if your account has been limited, how to pay from a cell phone, dispute a payment, receive money, upgrade your account, lower seller fees, hack-proof your payment buttons, and even encryption. It even has information on the PayPal webservices API and putting a PayPal payment button in an email.

This is an excellent and detailed course on how to use the intricacies of PayPal. PayPal Hacks: 100 Industrial-Strength Tips & Tools is highly recommended to everyone who shops or sells on the Internet as well as anyone who programs sites to use PayPal.

Don't waste your money unless you are one of the minority of webmasters that work exclusively in a Windows environment.

This book could have been useful if the authors had not insisted on showing all examples in asp, VBscript and .net which are used by only about 20% of all web servers and shown them in perl or php which are available for virtually every web server platform.
