3 out of 5 stars How To Make $130,000 A Year.......2007-05-20

A.D.Kessler knows how to make a $130,000 from selling his books, dvds and programs. Reading his book didn't give me the tools I thought I needed to understand and lease option a property. There is some good information in the book and I recommend this book if you are a novice. I am looking for another book to get more information.

5 out of 5 stars My copy just arrived today - couldn't put it down!.......2004-02-05

While there are many good books out there, this one bu A.D. Kessler stands head and shoulders above them all.

I say a advertisement on the internet for this book and tape offer and jumped on it, because I had heard of A.D. Kessler from a real estate buddy here in Florida. He acknowledged that A.D. Kessler was the grandfather of "nothing down" real estate deals. And he said that A.D. Kessler was more than just a promoter or a "mee-too" writer of books trying to capitalize on the popularity of real estate, he said that A.D. Kessler has done it! He knows this business inside and out and all points in between.

My copy arrived today along with the video. One of the first things that impressed me about Kessler is that he put the importance on people, not real estate. According to Kessler "The real key to real estate is people not property." And throughout the book the emphasis is on people. Makes sense, after all, who owns those properties and/or wants to buy them--people right?

I was also impressed to see the flaring reviews, in fact, raving reviews for Kessler by people like Robert Allen, Albert Lowry, Howard Ruff and Robert Bruss. In fact, Robert Allen wrote the forward to A.D. Kesslers book and attributed his success to what he learned from working with A. D. Kessler and refers to Kessler as "the real estate professionals professional." And isn't Allen supposed to be the King of Nothing Down?

While some of the information is not new, A.D. Kessler covers it in a way that is new and different. He writes in an easy to read style even though his system is quite complex. He makes it appear simple.

Kessler shows how to make money in good times and in bad times.
There is information on lease purchases, exchanges and more. The book is over 300 pages but reading it was such a breeze, that it seemed like 50 pages.

There is an advertisement in the back flap of the book for his seminars, but I didn't notice an arm forcing me to send it in. This one star reviewer (yeah it is really just one guy) makes me laugh. You get this book which is worth $19.95 retail and a video shipped for only $7 and he is complaining? Talk about the glass being half full!

I plan on using A.D. Kesslers advice to buy properties, all with nothing down. I'll let you know how I make out.

5 out of 5 stars #1 of the 10 best books.......2004-02-03

A Fortune At Your Feet is the best book on real estate investing. In particular, it is the best book on how to buy real estate creatively. A.D. Kessler is uniquely qualified to write on creative real estate investing; he created the term "creative real estate investing", owns the federally registered trademark and copyright and founded the concept with his first win/win deal back in 1946.

A.D. Kessler says that you can make $250,000 per year on one deal a month using none of your own money. What is really exceiting is that his students have done it.

A Fortune At Your Feet is over 300 pages jamm packed with powerful information. It includes 21 chapters and 3 appendices. The millenium edition is updated to include the new tax laws.

I highly recommend A Fortune At Your Feet if your goal is true financial independence.

1 out of 5 stars Did you get the letter offering the book & DVD for just $7?.......2004-01-25

The letter that arrives in the mail offers this book, a DVD, and an offer to become part of A.D. Kessler's "Financial Success Dream Team" for only $7. The $7 is the shipping on the book and DVD. To become part of the "Dream Team" you actually have to shell out THOUSANDS of dollars - and you won't get to work with A.D. Kessler ... just some guy or gal on the phone. With who knows what kind of experience.

How is THOUSANDS for advice realistic for someone looking for a "no money down" deal? The answer is that it isn't. A.D. Kessler is just looking to make a buck or two.

I would recommend Investing in Real Estate 4th Edition by Andrew McLean and Gary W. Eldred instead. (ISBN: 047132339X) It costs only a little more than that $7 you'd waste to get a sales pitch to spend a whole lot more. And, it is much more useful. Tells you exactly how to calculate whether a particular real estate purchase would benefit you or not.

Choose wisely. Happy investing!

1 out of 5 stars I would give it 0 stars if I could.......2003-10-12

The publisher of this book has resorted to spammers to promote it. This tells me that the book is most likely worthless, as is any publication promising that it will teach you how to become a millionnaire in 18 months starting with $100 (I am quoting from the spam email I received).

Book Description

Imre Somogyi became interested in natural healing while working as a journalist and producer, studying homoeopathy, herbalism, and polarity massage among other therapies. He has developed a theory that toes are mirrors, and that the shape and position of your toes show who you are.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Thank you Imre Somogyi.......2007-05-14

If you are interested in pathways to learning more about your own and others' inner climate and outward expressions of self, you will find the study of toe reading to be both fascinating and useful. I applaud Mr. Somogyi for his work which I consider to be very enlightening. I hope he will translate his subsequent books into English for our benefit!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book.......2006-03-17

Very helpful and insightful in filling in some blanks that others leave out.

4 out of 5 stars Reading Toes a guide for the whole family and psycologists........2000-12-16

It works! Imre Somogyi is right. You can analyse a character and behaviour when interpreting position and shapes of toes. The basic guide to reading toes in his book enables you to get insight in your own character and behaviour, but you can also get to know your partner, childern or colleques better. The book makes you understand that harmony can only be achieved when you accept that other people are different from yourself.Reading toes makes that very clear because it shows why this is the case. Reading Toes acknowleges what you might atready know, but it provides an extra clear mirror which can help solving conflicts and can make realtions better work. Possibilities and impossibilities will clearly pop-up when reading toes.

          Book Description

Actual events may provide plenty of grist for the cartoon mill, but it takes a mind like Garry Trudeau's to sift through it for the hilarious kernel of truth. From the Bill Clinton-Ken Starr face-off to high-flying Internet start-ups to new ways to plagiarize term papers, Trudeau hones in on the things we take so seriously and livens them up with craftyjolts of jocularity.

In this new Doonesbury collection, Buck Wild Doonesbury, Trudeau is at his best. We watch as Uncle Bernie pulls the plug on Mike and Kim's entrepreneurial venture, the virtual company that follows that rich tradition of losing money and lots of it. We sit in on a press conference with America's most famous special prosecutor who admits he spent four years "Leaking. Trolling. It's been hectic." And we behold Zonker as he passes along his long-held slacker philosophy to his young nephew Zipper.

Through it all, Doonesbury retains its fresh and innovative style. Cutting-edge-even though Trudeau first started penning the strip nearly three decades ago-Doonesbury has, over the years, tweaked everything and nearly everyone, from Donald Trump's aggressive real estate style to Dan Quayle's unblinking stance on family values to Newt Gingrich's ticking-time-bomb technique, while keeping us entertained with characters including Boopsie, Duke, J.J., B.D., and Earl. Buck Wild Doonesbury, like the strip, is guaranteed to be provocative, controversial, and hilarious.

1 out of 5 stars I may be in the minority, but I truly dislike "Doonesbury".......2000-12-05

I don't like Doonesbury. I admit that. I find I can't abide that fresh mouthed Alex with all of her get rich quick schemes. The way she talks to adults makes one want to backhand her! I also dislike the smarmy balding bulldozer and his equally offensive look alike son. That creepy Alex and that bratty boy are birds of a feather! I also dislike Kim, the sneaky stereotypical Generation X female with the fresh mouth. I'm also no fan of good old Doonesbury himself. I am a Democrat who doesn't like Doonesbury, which is often hailed as the Sacred Cow of Comic Strips.

There was a time when I thought a big drawback to being famous was being lampooned in Doonesbury. I felt sorry for Trudeau's roommate, the Pillsbury heir who inspired this strip. I hate the way this strip puts people down and has an array of unappealing characters, like that talking cigarette, Mr. Butts. Stubb out Mr. Butts!

          Boo, hiss, Doonesbury!

4 out of 5 stars Wasn't the best but was still pretty good.......2000-10-25

I think this had many good strips but was missing to much. It didn't seem like it came after planet doonesbury. I really like the character zipper and if you do i suggest you read this book definetly. I think alex mikes daughter was also very funny as she sets up alex cam. I dont think this is even close to trudeau s other doonesbury books but if you reallly like doonesbury I suggest you get it.

3 out of 5 stars good, but considering Doonesbury's rep for excellence..........2000-05-08

Buck Wild Doonesbury has some excellent strips in it but the book as a whole is lacking. WAY to much time is spent on Zonker's nephew Zipper. Zipper would be funny in short bursts but a huge amount is dedicated to him. Mike's internet company is losing millions and positions itself to go public...but...you'll just have to wait untill next fall to read about them doing so. At least Duke is in good shape through this book, trying to sell his house (still an orphanage) to a John Denver fan for millions and later becoming appointees for Jesse Ventura. Of course, Duke is always funny. It's also nice to see Roland Hedley make some hilarious appearances but overall this collection does not live up to the extreme standards GTB has set for himself and just makes me more eager for next fall's collection.

3 out of 5 stars Good stuff, but there seems to be a gap........2000-03-14

Like most of Trudeau's Doonesbury books, this one is well worth the money that you pay for it. Lots of strips, and all the Sunday strips are in their original colors. My only quibble is that the book does not pick up where PLANET DOONESBURY left off; that is, a huge chunk of the strips seem to be missing. As I understand it, the only place to get these strips is in THE BUNDLED DOONESBURY, and they constitute only 1/4 of the contents (the rest of the compilation is strips from VIRTUAL DOONESBURY and PLANET DOONESBURY). While this is a clever marketing scheme to sell to people who are compleatists, I find it reprehensible that Trudeau would gouge his fans like this. Therefore, I can't say that BUCK WILD DOONESBURY totally met my expectations.

                Book Description

It doesn't matter how you remember him--rockabilly rebel, all-American boy, B-movie idol, patriotic G.I., or Las Vegas superstar. Elvis Presley is the most enduring image in American popular culture. This book explains why.

Other authors have explored Elvis's life and music, but Erika Doss now examines his multifaceted image as the key to understanding the adulation that has survived his death. She has talked with fans and joined their clubs, studied their creations and made pilgrimages to Graceland, all to explore what these images mean to those who gaze upon them, make them, and collect them.

In researching Elvis Culture, Doss discovered that the visual image of Elvis endures because it was so carefully constructed from the start. Sifting through the visual glut of Elvisiana, she looks at how fans collect, arrange, and display Elvis paraphernalia, make Elvis artwork, and participate in the annual August rituals of Elvis Week. By engaging in these acts, she explains, they continually reinvent Elvis to mesh with their own personal and social preferences and to keep his memory alive.

Doss examines Elvis in specific contexts: as a religious icon honored in household shrines, as a focus of sexual fantasy for women and men (both straight and gay), as an inspiration for countless impersonators, and as an emblem of whiteness held in disdain by many blacks--despite his having crossed racial lines with his music. She also looks at how Elvis has become a sanitized, legally protected image controlled by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc., which bans the sale of black velvet paintings and licenses his likeness around the world.

As engrossing as it is informative, Elvis Culture strikingly demonstrates the power of the visual image in our culture and reveals much about American attitudes toward religion, sex, race, and celebrity-as well as about the construction of American identity in the late twentieth century.

                4 out of 5 stars Iconic Status.......2002-06-28

The cover of Erika Doss's invaluable guide to how one itty bitty rock legend became the inimitable, unquestionable image he is today tells it all. Elvis on a stamp, on envelopes and mail sent daily throughout the United States? Yep, he's not just a singer anymore, as Doss points out in her exhaustive search for the how's and why's of Elvis's rise to status of cultural icon, to the imagistic equivalent of Jesus on the cross. Elvis is, in fact, more than just an image too, she points out; he's a corporation.

Doss's book was a revelation of sorts, close to the epiphany she recounts earlier on, realizing that people have come to worship Elvis as wholeheartedly as they do any god or cult leader. Doss also examines the elements of our own culture, which pave the way for such a dramatic recreation of image in this age of media saturation. She talks about the tight rein Priscilla Presley and Elvis Presley Enterprises have kept on what they will allow his image and name to grace. Also outlining the myths involved in such a recreation, Doss shows us just how much we can trust the products and decisions of corporations whose inherent goal is pretty apparent: more and more profit.

_Elvis Culture_ also acknowledges the fans, perhaps the true creators of the Elvis image. Doss tells us about "Graceland Too" whose owner is devoted to the collecting of "Elvis stuff." She profiles an artist who channels her love for Elvis into sometimes room-size installations of kitschy devotion to the King, and another woman who has made (and charges no admission to see) a very miniature version of Presley's Memphis mansion.

Nowhere in the book, however, does Erika Doss ignore what such behavior suggests about us as a society. Whether we take the Graceland tour and support a multi-million dollar company committed to supposedly "preserving" the Presley name, or trust the fans to the more pure, downhome maintenance of Elvis's image,we must acknowledge that all of these people involved in Elvis culture are products of American society. Submission to the corporation exemplifies our culture's handing itself over to the Starbuck's and Wal-marts of the world, and the fans' collection perhaps even further shows America's servitude to a relentless materialism. Doss knows this, and she does a great job examining all of the different aspects of culture Elvis Presley and his image have invaded, and even more importantly perhaps, why we have let them.

5 out of 5 stars The definitive word on Elvis fan-dom.......1999-05-27

Doss's book is full of pleasure even as it takes on the question of Elvis's significance as a sort of secular religious figure. Doss interviewed and questionnaired hundreds or maybe thousands of hardcore fans, and she's listened carefully to them. The result is a work that's a pleasure to read and revelatory of contemporary life at the same time. If you wonder what's going on with American culture at the end of the millennium, Doss will give you some real insights.

Compares to ,but reads better than the '94 title: "Impersonating Elvis", the legacy of whom leads one to believe his mansion"Graceland"..has a revolving door...

Of all the different GURPS books which depict various cultures in our history, this one is my favorite. This book presents the Norsemen in a historical fashion with suggestions and ideas for playing any sort of game. Fans of Beowulf or similar stories will find this invaluable. Also, there is a section on playing less than true historical viking games, such as their magic and creatures of their legends. Over all, a great book.

2 out of 5 stars One good chapter........2005-05-27

I read this book in an hour cover to cover because it was almost completely devoid of good content. The only enlightening chapter was "How Search Engines Rank Your Website". There was only one chapter dedicated to search engine optimization, and it was not that good. In fact, you would have found a lot more information on the internet. The book also has a chapter about Google AdWords. I am not sure what it's place is in an SEO book, perhaps to act as stuffing pushing the book to the 100+ page category. I would pay about $1 for this book-certainly not $20! Before you buy this book, please do your homework on the internet. You will likely find more information about SEO in a shorter amount of time than by reading this book.

3 out of 5 stars this thin book could be even thinner.......2005-04-02

Yes, I picked up a few tips in reading the book - mostly things that were "reminders" to check on my websites. There's a pretty good one-page checklist of things to do. But a lengthly discussion of network theory felt like padding, and the section of Pay Per Click through Google Adwords and Overture covers a lot of material that is available in the online help for people who use those services.

I'd hoped for more detail on optimizing keyword strategies, and more on creating effective content.

As a previous reviewer posted, this book is a good place to start, but it's really very basic.

                        3 out of 5 stars It's a good place to start.... but...........2005-01-07

I actually read this book two times over a period of a week. It's a short book with some great tips, and tips that just make you say... "duh... why didn't I think of that". But then on the other hand, it is 95% customized towards Google. What about the other SE's? The authors spent a good portion praising PPC and Googles Adwords, which could have been condensed into a shorter chapter... leaving room for tips, tricks, and need to knows for the other SE's. On one page of the book 2 URL's are listed for Yahoo and DMOz, and that's it. No other advice was given for any other site.

Don't get me wrong, for the money, and for a beginer... It is a great start. But don't stop at this book, for it is not as complete as it could be.

                        4 out of 5 stars A 2004 Guide to Google SEO.......2004-10-09

The Insider's Guide to SEO is a short book, but well organized and an easy read. It seems to cover the ins and outs of optimizing for Google almost exclusively, which is probably OK, being that this year Google has well over 50% of searches. It's advice seems mostly common sense, but sometimes stating the obvious can be good. As a relative newbie to SEO, I feel I picked up a lot.
