This book makes international taxation easy to understand.
It is a perfect beginner's book as it reveals the ideas behind otherwise incomprehensible laws.
For those who later on get lost in the maze you can always come back to the basics in this book.
I haven't seen any other writer explain the basics so well.
The only thing that I am disappointed with at this moment, October 2004, is that there is not an updated version available.
I would buy it the moment it comes out.
Also, I agree with one of the reviewers of this book that 4 years in the international taxation world is a very long time.
We now need more updated information on tax shelters in this book for one thing.
Mr. Isenbergh please update this book and publish it.

Without this book, I would have dropped the exceedingly onerous, frighteningly incomprehensible International Tax course I took in my LL.M. program. Here is the map of the labyrinth, brought to you by Archangel Isenbergh. Folks, this is the real deal, the Revelation.

Buy it, study it, enjoy it, and then pass it on to your kids.

I would definitely give this book its 5 deserved stars. I have a considerable collection of text books on the subject, and so far I have not read another so concise, easy to read and digest, entertained (the author constantly adds cracks to the story) and superbly written piece of work on US International Taxation. I definitely recommend this book regardless of whether you are in school or in practice. It comes short on very specific detail, but then again, there's when your larger books come in.

It is the one and only Hsu and Chan. Alternatively, the Tanaka brothers for short. Straight from the pages of one the most leading gaming magazines of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Hsu and Chan now have their very own comic book chock full of their misadventures! I think this book is amazing. If you are a true Austin Powers fan then you have to get this book. It has everything you need to know about austin powers and all the three films. It has over 350 colour images and 120 pages. it is like an encyclopedia on austin powers. It has topics on the cars he has, the women he's slept with all the characters in the film in full detail. I would highly recommend this book to anybody. even if you didn't like the films i am sure you would like this book!!

Bad Haircut is a collection of stories about the life of the main character, Buddy. It starts off when he was a lil kid, and carries the reader through his teenage years. Most stories are humorous and filled with real life characters. The story is set in the seventies; so you can imagine all the drug and sex action going on. Some stories are on the dry side, but overall the book is a good, easy read.

Are You a Child of the 70s...?.......2007-04-07

Yes, you'll enjoy BAD HAIRCUT in a big way if you grew up in that strange decade we call the 70s, but you can enjoy it for many other reasons as well. If you enjoy short stories, this collection with a common protagonist, the autobiographical Buddy, is sure to whet your appetite for that most concise of genres. If you are a Tom Perrotta fan, you'll be pleased and surprised, as this book offers both the Perrotta hero you've become accustomed to in his novels (young-ish, male, funny) AND it offers the author at his most disciplined as a stylist. The stories contain little "fat," in other words, and thematically tackle all the major sources of boyhood angst from grade school days to college.

The collection starts with "Weiner Man," the tale of Buddy in the cub scouts, a man dressed in an oversized weiner outfit, and his mother who knew Weiner Man from high school. Sweet and strange, it's the perfect gateway into this frank collection. It is followed by stories involving dating, fighting, family, school, drugs, and alcohol. Just your typical, red-blooded New Jersey suburban upbringing, is all. But what a ride.

I feel this book is overlooked for two reasons -- it's an "early" work by an author who later became famous and it's a short story collection, which will always play second fiddle to the novel. Don't let it scare you away, however. Although anyone can enjoy this work, it's almost a sure bet if you're a male boomer out of the 'burbs. So go ahead. Get a haircut. Even if it's bad, they always grow out...

Timeless coming of age novel for all generations.......2006-09-13

The book Bad Haircut: Stories of the Seventies by Tom Perrotta is a coming of age story about Buddy, a boy who grew up in the times of sex, drugs, and Rock & Roll, and the book brings up all of it. Along with many variables that come with the seventies, there were many obstacles that melded his teenage years that are timeless. He grows from a cub scout in 1969 who liked to collect the autographs of such celebrities as Mr. Clean, Cap'n Crunch, and the Weiner Man, to a freshman in college who was one of the pall-bearers for someone who was Buddy's neighbor since he was nine. On the way Buddy deals with bullies, interesting family friends, a band, marijuana, and girls. As a teenager it is interesting to see how the era of my parent's teenage years are similar and different than my own.

Many of the other reviews have declared that the stories are timeless, which is one of the most powerful aspects of the book, and I would have to agree. I am a child of the `90's/2000s (Buddy in `70's is about equivalent to me in the 2000s) and many of the stories strike home, or at least near it. Kevin, Buddy's best friend in '74, a rabble-rousing, mischievous boy reminds me of many of my friends who enjoy causing trouble in ways that are hysterical and not too damaging. Marijuana has survived as a drug that crosses many generations, no matter how hard the government tries, and while I myself do not imbibe in it, I know people who do. While it may not be at the level it was in the `60's and `70's, the fact that it is still quite present today says something. Another surprising connection is the music of the period. It is interesting that many people in our generation listen to many of the same bands as our parents did when they were our age; where as our parents were much less interested in the music of their parents.

Many of the stories are more classified to the seventies or at least a different neighborhood than what I live in. Because there were fewer worries of "bad people" wandering the streets in the seventies, the characters have more freedom to hang out around the neighborhood whenever. The stories such as "Snowman" and "Race Riot" have the possibility of happening in this day and age, but are less likely. This is because the 70's generation is now our parents' generation, and they worry more, possibly because of their experiences as children and teenagers. All in all, Bad Haircut: Stories of the Seventies is a very interesting book that you will not want to put down, as long as you are, have been, or plan to be a teenager.

I zipped through this. Though not as polished as his later work, Perotta captures the fumblings, anxieties and silliness of being a teenager. Timeless. Amusing. Enjoy.

Great Collection of Coming-of-age Stories.......2006-07-20

This is the one book that reminds me most of growing up. Even though the book was set in the 70s (I grew up in the 80s/90s), the book has a timeless quality, and I found myself identifying very much with what was going on in the book. In addition, "Bad Haircut" is both funny and touching.

"Bad Haircut" is a collection of stories that center on one character ("Buddy") from about ages 13 to 18.

The best stories deal with cruising/peer pressure ("Snowman," "Race Riot") or the mysteries of the opposite sex ("Thirteen," "You Start to Live," "Just the Way We Were").

There are five other stories in the collection, which are "The Wiener Man" (the weakest), "Forgiveness" (okay), "The Jane Pasco Fan Club" (funny), "A Bill Floyd Xmas" (pretty good), and "The Wild Kingdom (sentimental, but it hits the right notes and feels true).

This collection covers a lot of ground such as unplanned pregnancy, racism, male-on-male violence, dances, etc. Each topic is dealt with honestly and with a refreshing point-of-view. This was Perrotta's first book, and it remains his best. His other works include "The Wishbones," "Election," "Joe College," and the very successful "Little Children."

Not complete.......2004-07-17

I bought these books thinking I could use them to supplement my existing knowlege of Microsoft Products so that I could take my certification tets and pass them on my first try. After taking three the three certification tests I have discovered that the exams test you on material that is not even mentioned in the book. When the exam is made up of as few as 35 questions, not being prepared for even one makes a big difference. I would recommend that people preparing for Microsoft certifications try the books from Microsoft Press instead.

Great books...and Eval version of 2003 to boot.......2003-10-03

I have to admit I was truely impressed with these books. I used these study guides to get my MCSE in NT, but skipped getting my 2000 certification. Now that my employeer has decided to upgrade to 2003, I thought now was the time for me to upgrade as well.

I just picked up these books, and was truely impressed. Not only do they provide me with the background, as well as the hands on needed, they come with some excellent tools on the CD includeing an invaluable network simulator and an evaluation version of the Windows 2003 OS.

What I truley like about these titles is that they don't leave you hanging. Far too often, a book does not go as in depth as necessary. Not these book. Each topic is reinforced with hands on exercises, so you can practice what you learn. A tremendous resource for anybody, beginner to experience, if you ask me.
