This book was a fast, easy read. In a short time, I quickly learned the issues and basic approaches. While it's not a thorough how-to guide, one quickly learns what one needs to know. Other reference books can be used for the details.

Dance Till Tomorrow is an excellent manga series. The humor is adult natured, but is not the typical romantic-comedy that is prevelant in much manga. The main characters are flawed, complex, and often don't even know what they want themselves. I find that a nice change and fairly realistic. The art is high-quality with little use of filler or stock images.
Fans of manga like Ranma and Ah My Goddess will find the humor to be a little more adult and the characters more complex.
A Mature Manga for the Mature Reader.......2000-09-20
Without a doubt, Dance Till Tomorrow is an essential manga for the mature and discriminating reader. The story is complex, funny, and sexy all at the same time. Best of all, it portrays realistic characters in realistic situations. While it is not a kids title, all the sexy situations are very tastefully done and unless you have some real problem with sex, you'll have no problems with this title. So go ahead and read it, you won't be disappointed!
A very adult version of the usual manga ride.......2000-06-09
This book is all about a young college boy who's suddenly came across MILLIONS! But the strict condition of striking it rich is that he better not touch a single dollar bill until he at least graduates from the college and gets a wife. And along comes a very mysterious con artist in the form of a sleek young sexpot to cattily manuipulate and guilt the poor kid into giving in - though he VERY STUBBORNLY refuses to despite the actual sexual scenes which are very titillating indeed as well as home-cooked dinners (which the girl obviously isn't as good at). In addition, the young hero's got a role with a play he's rehearsing and he happens to be IN LOVE with a much older but nevetheless pretty young woman in charge of the whole setup. And what really tangles things up is the sudden involvement of the scar-faced gangsters at the play that the young "harlot" had secretly invited along! Though this stuff is supposed to be from "Pulp", a special new manga for the mature audience, the characters themselves seem to be forever in their pubescent stage as in virtually all the other cartoons from Japan, both hand-drawn and animated.

Poor Sueichi- but his situation does make for comic-relief. The author prefers to use everyday life in his stories, the story and art are great! Just enough sexiness to give it that spark of life.

This manga is just great! It features a young student who inherits millions (in condition he graduate and marry) and a woman who probably just wants to get hold of the money. Viz were very brave to publish this book because it doesn't offer violence and fantasy related themes and it targets mature readers while the american comics market is pretty much juvenile. It is a very witty book, but if you want porn or violence look somewhere else.

I loved this book. The art, story, and characters were great. It was romantic enough to satisfy a hopeless romantic like myself, and enough action to keep me reading (instead of just skimming for kisses!).
I'd recommend this title to fans of Sailor Moon, Demon City Shinjuku (If you saw that movie), Dragonball, or any of Rumiko Takahashi's work.

Written by a former Army combat journalist in Vietnam, this book was utterly hilarious. Some of the adages I'd seen before on the Internet under the heading "Murphy's Laws of Combat," such as Body Count Math (3 guerillas + 1 probable + 2 pigs = 37 enemy KIA) and the inverse variation between a weapon's complexity and its user's intellect, but it introduced me to a whole new batch of jokes, like how former servicemen are easy to identify because they don't understand the fascination with wearing BDUs, driving Humvees and playing with guns all day, and how each service branch interprets the order "Secure the building" (the Army will guard it, the Navy will lock it up, the Air Force will try to buy it, and the Marines will occupy it). The best part is at the end, explaining how to recreate the living conditions of the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan in your own home (set up a tent in the most crime-infested part of town and tell the locals you're there to help them while wearing body armor and packing heat). Soldiers and civilians alike will enjoy it.

A weak offering.......2003-07-10
Much of this has been covered before. What Reynolds offers is a mish-mash of previously available material dressed up as something new. Don't be fooled by this one.
A Quality Guide. A must have for any Alternity enthusiast........2001-06-02
It is a ..shame that Wizards discontinued Alternity.
This guide is an excellent example of the versatility of the system. Beyond Science gives you the strait goods on how to add magic, faith and super powers to any campaign. All the abilities are well thought out and pretty detailed. They even throw in some FX using monsters for fun like golems, familiars, demons, angels and vampires!
On book quality, the art work on the cover and the inside are well done.
Now...my gripes. I feel that such a versatile thing such as FX should have been included in the Player's Guide (I know, it was included in the Gamemaster's guide) along with Psionics and cyberware. I also was dissapointed by the lack of a FX skill page for photocopying and such. Finally, FX can wipe the floor with Psionics and the guide dosn't go into enough detail about how to counter this overpowering. They aknowledge it and go into some detail about balancing but not enough for my tastes.
It may seem like alot of complaints but I am still very satisfied with the guide!
Not as Useful as You Might Think.......2000-08-06
While this FX Guide is true to the Alternity rules and can fit into virtually any setting, I can't help but dislike many of the choices for the new skills. Too many of the Arcane Magics have an evil feel to them (summoning evil spirits, blood magic, fire magic, etc), and too many of the Faith Magics are difficult or dangerous to use (alienism, shamanism, etc). This makes many of the new skills inappropriate for heroes in most settings. The Super Powers are, sadly (in my opinion), the best made and most playable.
Despite those complaints, it is a well written book and anyone who is interested in putting magic into their setting will want it. I will only warn Game Masters about the power of FX Skills--they will put Psionics to shame. Be very careful to balance them if they are used.
THE definitive guide for adding magic to your Alternity game.......2000-03-28
This guide presents everything you need to add FX (Arcane Magic, Faith FX, and Super Power FX) to your Alternity campaign world. In addition, it provides a few new FX creatures to add to the game, as well as instructions on how to create FX items and new FX abilities/skills.
FYI:
Arcane FX includes illusions, necromancy, diabolism, etc.
Faith FX is magic drawn from a user's beliefs, this includes Shamanism, Druidism, Taoism, etc.
Finally, Super Power FX is what you guessed it to be, your flying like Superman, wall-crawling like Spider Man abilities.
For those of you that play the Star Drive version of Alternity, this book contains a wealth of all-new material detailing the FX disciplines described above.
For those of you that enjoy the Dark Matter game, you will find about a 1/3 of the information presented to be a re-hash of the information presented in the Dark Matter source book. (For example, Diabolism is there, as are several of the Religion-related FX abilities, and a few of the FX creatures.)
Even though some of the FX material is re-cycled from the Dark Matter book, the new FX disciplines still make this a great value. New Disciplines like Alienism (Chthulu, anyone?) can definitely add flavor to an already dark world of consipiracies.
For those of you that want to try something completely different, the Super Power FX powers can be followed to make your favorite comic book heroes come to life. (Or to create a nasty villian to scare the hell out of your adventurers.)
In summary, the world of FX is opened by this new material, and the Alternity universe will never be the same again.

Would be better without flaws.......2006-07-09
When following lessons to the letter I found that some of the results expected are not achieved due to the book differing from the actual sample files on the accompanying CD. Truly these are errors in publication (I found similar errors in the Photoshop Classroom In A Book and got those confirmed by Adobe and the book publisher).
Publishing an instructional guide with errors is quite frustrating when wanting to take the time to learn the product. I don't know if they corrected these in the 2.0 release, just be forewarned....
A sound training investment........2006-03-30
An excellent book for getting up to speed with this program. I had never used this program before and this Classroom in a Book series walked me through the main features in a very logical step by step fashion that was both easy to follow and understand. I'm sure that there are other books that may cover this program in a more in-depth manner, but you need to get a good handle on the core features and this book does exactly that.

This is an uninteresting paint-by-the-numbers experience of clicking the the mouse to make things happen to canned material, without empowering you to use the software with your own projects. Well written and illustrated, but of little value.

Great book!.......2005-02-18
There doesn't seem to be a lot out there for Audition to help Audition newbies like myself. Fortunately there is this book! It is well written and has taken a lot of the mystery out of the program. I'm sure that there is much more to learn, but this book does a good job of covering enough material to get one started with the program. A drawback would be the price -- it's not a large book, and seems pricey for the amount of material covered. The price of all Adobe Press materials are generally a little high in my opinion anyway. Amazon does offer a better price than most bookstores! This book has a "Getting Started" section, "Quick Tour", "Audition Basics", and 14 other chapters which cover just enough material to be easily absorbed. I like the approach this boook uses -- step by step detailed lessons. The book has a cd which contains lesson files to assist with the lessons. I have no complaints (other than the price). If you want to start learning Audition, this is a good book to consider!
