Dot.con : How America Lost Its Mind and Money in the Internet Era
ASIN: 0975516108 |
Book Description
The rush to Cash in on the Dot-com Gold Rush was on. But there were serious problems. The dot-com bubble follows the classic pattern of speculative bubbles that economies around the world have experienced for centuries. Munroe's book explores and explains the boom, bust, and resurgence of the internet economy.
Customer Reviews:
A Must Read!.......2006-11-26
A very helpful and easy to read account of the Dot Com Bust. Munroe's explanations are logical and rational - easy to understand without an ecomonics background.
advice for the next boom.......2006-07-27
You can read Munroe's book as a retrospective on the dot com era that ended in 2000-1. For that alone, his analysis is insightful. Showing how many were seduced by the bright new world unfolding on the Web.
But another advantage to the book is to use it to prepare for the next upturn, the resurgence in the title. Invariably there will be one. Indeed, some commentators are suggesting that we are in it right now in 2006. But whether the latter proves true or not, high technology is definitely cyclic, and the cycles have not been abolished. From the book, you may get wisdom as due preparation for the next boom.
Much much more than a "I told you so" tale.......2005-11-17
Munroe does a great job of explaining what went wrong with the Dot Com bust and putting into perspective the future of the Net. Far from just a "I told you so" tale, Munroe paints an optimistic (but realistic) future of the Internet. It's very interesting, a quick read, and very well researched. Tapan knows his stuff! Best of all--you don't have to be an economist to 'get it'.
Bill Wiersma, author of The Big AHA!
Dot-Com to Dot-Bust.......2004-08-26
This is a well documented and well written book on what went wrong with the Dot=com boom and bust. It's still relavent today with the new Tech related issues of today.

Gardening Basics Great for Gift.......2000-12-10
I bought this book as a gift, but ended up keeping it for myself. It goes through steps to define what types of lighting are best for plants, and what exactly lighting is (some shade is a lot more light than I thought)
I would recommend this book for any beginner!

Book Description
This volume consists of edited papers presented at the International Symposium Gas Phase Chemical Reaction Systems: Experiments and Models 100 Years after Max Bodenstein, held at Heidelberg. It is divided into six sections, reflecting the diversity of the topics discussed. Part I is devoted to experimental reactions employing laser and molecular-beam techniques. Part II is the theoretical counterpart of Part I. Part III summarizes the current status of the Bodenstein (H2+I2) "textbook reaction" with experimental and theoretical results. Part IV shows the different approaches for the calculation of state-specific and thermal rate data. Part V includes papers from the "heterogeneous reactions" session and Part VI is devoted to the modelling of turbulence, reactive flows and complex chemical reactions.

Book Description
Perspectives in Supramolecular Chemistry will relate recent developments and new exciting approaches in supramolecular chemistry. In supramolecular chemistry, our aim is to understand the molecular chemistry beyond the covalent bond—the series will concentrate on goal-orientated supramolecular chemistry. Perspectives in Supramolecular Chemistry will reflect research which develops supramolecular structures with specific new properties, such as recognition, transport and simulation of biosystems or new materials. The series will cover all areas from theoretical and modelling aspects through organic and inorganic chemistry and biochemistry to materials, solid-state and polymer sciences, reflecting the many and varied applications of supramolecular structures in modern chemistry. The Lock and Key Principle The State of the Art—100 Years on Edited by Jean-Paul Behr Published 100 years after Emil Fischer first proposed the lock-and-key principle, this volume provides a complete review of the subject to date and offers suggestions for further research. The major impact of the lock-and-key principle on the chemical, biomedical and materials sciences is discussed by leaders in the field, with chapters dedicated to molecular recognition, nucleic acid and protein chemistry, crystallography and the development of Emil Fischer’s initial ideas. The Lock-and-Key Principle is the most up-to-date review of progress in supramolecular chemistry and the lock-and-key principle, and will become the essential guide to the past, present and future of this remarkable idea. The interdisciplinary nature of this topic is highlighted in The Lock-and-Key Principle ensuring that this volume is essential reading for chemists, molecular biologists, biochemists and materials scientists working in the areas of molecular recognition, enzymology, immunology, protein and nucleic acid chemistry, crystallography, bioinorganic and bioorganic chemistry and supramolecular chemistry.
