It's great that an Art Book is finally out for Fushigi Yugi. I finally got it and it's teriffic. I love all the color manga pix. Great Book to add on to your collection.

Great book for fans and artist alike.......2003-02-14

It's nice that an Anime art book was published in English. Whether you want to get some insight into how Ms. Watase developed the series or you want to look at an entertaining book then this is a must have.

Wonderful for any Fushjigi Yugi fan!.......2002-12-19

I'm not a big FY fan but when I picked up this book for a friend I did thumb through it. The book contains beautiful color artwork some as it says made just for this book. The book boasts that it is an English carbon-copy of the Japanese version, which I don't know because I don't own the Japanese version. Some pictures are a bit small that's my only complaint. Most of the pictures have a foot-note in the back of the book giving you a little information such as what it was used for originally.
It has character stats (height, weight, blood type) along with Yuu Watase's original sketches for them. It has a color comic in right-to left format. An interview with Ms. Watase as well as a bio for her is in toward the back. This seems to be a very high quality book with thick, glossy paper, almost like cardstock. I'm impressed!

Series picks it up in a big way........2006-03-24

Yu Watase, Fushigi Yugi: Summoner (ViZ, 2002)

Summoner, the sixth chapter of Yu Watase's manga epic Fushigi Yugi, is the first one in a while that's jumped up and demanded I read it in one sitting. This is good stuff, and it's finally shown the promise hinted at in the second volume.

Miaka, eternally hungry schoolgirl and priestess of Suzaku, has finally gathered the seven celestial warriors, so the summoning ceremony can begin-- as long as they can recover Tamahome, a celestial warrior placed under a spell by the Seiryu camp, who are opposed to the Suzaku camp (and just happen to be headed up by Yui, Miaka's former best friend). The dramatic tension in the storylines revolves around these two events.

Those who have followed the series up to this point, grab this one at your earliest convenience; it's the best of the lot so far. Those who gave up when the going got kind of rough in books three and four, persevere; there's a payoff, and it's worth it. *** ½

Great volume.......2005-12-19

This is a wonderful volume of Fushigi Yuugi. Miaka and Tamahome are a wonderful couple with a great love story in every colume. This volume is great. Tamahome comes back and Miaka goes over to him. Miaka kisses Tamahome and tells him she still loves him, even though his personality may have been changed by the spell. Tamahome comes back and his true self returns. Miaka and Tamahome hug. Their embrace is so loving and romantic. Tamahome retreives the scroll and takes it back. Miaka and Tamahome make up under the moonlight. Tamahome apologizes and hugs Miaka. Tamahome promises to always be by her side. Miaka and Tamahome kiss. Their kiss at night is so romantic and drawn so well. Tamahome returns Miaka's ribbon before the ceremony to summon Suzaku. It's such a sweet scene and Miaka and Tamahome's romance is so wonderful in this volume.

I own this book and I love it. I love this series...I have Volumes 2, 5, 6, and yes, even 7. I can't wait for all the books to come out and I definitely recommend this series for anyone who's trying to figure out what to get. Anime/Manga fans, prepare yourself...Yu Watase brings you into an adventure full of anything can happen...and it has stuff in it for the action lovers, anime lovers, romantics and just about any Anime/Manga fan type. BUY IT TODAY!

I'm an avid anime fan, and I read manga, and I think Yu Watase has created the most beautiful, adventurous, romantic graphic novel's i have ever read in my life. I may be totally biased, but it's a fantastic and unique concept, which of course has been done before, but have the characters ever taken a life of their own like they have? Any reader can identify with at least one of the characters, they have so much life and truth, it's unbelievable. She makes you question your life, truth and values, and no one has really ever been able to do that to me. Yes, I am mildly obsessed, but I adore and love these graphic novels, and I recommend them to everyone!

The sixth book was REALY good. The plot thickens alot in this book,(i realy thought it was almost over!).Chichiri and Tasuki are awesome!! This book was also kinda sad. You think everythings finaly going right for the poor suzaku warriors when you find out that one of them is a traitor!*gasp!* which one is he? I won't spoil it!! just read the book and find out!

Best Book of its Kind.......2000-09-04

I found Mr. Moser's book totally unique in a class of its own. This tongue in cheek look at American History pokes fun at the absurdity of today's "politically correct" socialites, but also exposes the awful truth about our own knowledge of American History. Many of us learned our history from high school text books written in the post World War 50's. The class was taught by a teacher whose first name was "Coach". By "rewriting" that history according to today's "political correctness" Ed gives us a humorous glimpse of what the history text books of the future may look like. Worth the $9.00!

Not quite what the blurb describes. . . .......2007-01-15

This book was described as fun for kids and there was nothing about its text or layout that was age-appropriate for the range indicated. Maybe it would be a fun gag gift for accountants, but the math and the "tricks and puzzles" inside were overly complicated in both description and instruction. Also, the layout of the book was cheap and not in the least appealing visually, and the paper was cheap stock. I intended to give this book to a child who is extremely advanced in math and it was not even appropriate for him. I ended up giving it as a gag gift to the controller at the office holiday party. Definitely would not recommend this book for young people.

eh, just ok.......2006-01-29

Your time would be better spent reviewing the PHP manual to know what number of parameters go to basic/common functions and what they return for the major topic areas listed on the Zend website.

I got this and the Zend PHP Certification study guide. It does have errors, like others said, and I don't think I really learned anything *about PHP* from it, but I did learn about what to expect from the questions. I think it helped me on the exam only by making me look harder for bugs in questions before just selecting the seemingly obvious answer choice/output.

I don't think the questions are really any different from the chapter-end practice in the Zend book. My recommendation is to NOT get this, and just get the Zend book if you're wanting to study a book. I wanted to get both just to make sure I didn't waste the exam fee, but I think this book, in the end, didn't make a difference in whether I passed or not.

Buy it ONLY if you are taking the exam.......2005-10-04

Frustrating.......2005-08-28

I purchased the Adobe Acrobat version of this book. It is convenient to be able to get it immediately, and to save on international postage, but I find it the fact that it is protected against printing extremely frustrating. This makes it hard to take the tests.

The previous reviewer was too generous. The numerous flaws in the book were so offputting that I finally gave up in disgust and discarded the book. One might expect that a book which asserts to prepare you for any exam would be proofread especially carefully. It appears that the only proofreading was just of simple grammar. Nothing on the logic or accuracy of what was actually written.

I strongly urge you to look for another text. Don't waste your time with this one.

You need this, but you'll hate it too!.......2005-05-08

I just passed my Zend Certified Engineer test. It wasn't easy. For preparation, I used both the Official Zend Study Guide (by Zend Technologies) and this book. I often found myself frustrated by the numerous errata in both books, but there were significantly more mistakes in this book (ranging from having the wrong answer listed in the answers section to typos). The positive aspect of this is that it forced me to spend more time with the online php manual answering my questions. I found the questions on the actual exam to be more like those in this book, than from the Official Study Guide, but you really need the Official Study Guide to make some sense of the answers in here as well. There were questions in this book covering exam topics that wheren't covered in the Official Study Guide. That's reason enough to get it.

The print quality on the pages is sub-standard, but the questions and thorough answers were very helpful.

Simply put, I wouldn't have had any chance of passing the exam if it weren't for this practice test book, even though it's aggravating at times.
