Establishing diversity is essential. This concept accomplishes a profoundly expanded future in both the portfolio and the mind.
Having one's feet spread and more firmly planted during the winds of extreme confusion is a good feeling.
The article also helped me with, actual experience, that giving up old ideas, and gingerly accepting new ones, brought me

"Asset Allocation A financial flight plan" is a very good read for anyone that wants to expand their knowledge base in the world of finance. A great example of a need to know more centers around an interest in automobiles. Which is right, for today? Hybrid, hydrogen, gas, diesel, electric? The answer is to read lots, study, learn.
The importance of this work for me is that it allowed me to see, in terms that I could relate to, the value of diversity.

Relates Scientific Concepts to Ordinary Life.......2004-10-23
After going through the experience of my husband's illness and death, I became more interested in the human body and its mechanisms. This book was in the student store of the local community college and I thought the cover picture of seals (something one would not expect to find) and the title "Inquiry into Life" very intriguing. It seemed like it would answer a lot of questions I had.
I was not disappointed as it was a thorough review of biology--the elements, atoms, molecules, the systems of the human body (as well as animals and plants), evolution, the biosphere.
Yes, some of it was difficult to understand, but then the material is very complex. But the author made an attempt to make it as comprehensible as possible, and there are many pictures, charts and diagrams to aid in understanding.
It takes study to absorb it all, but this is a very good basic book, covering all aspects of the science. As a non scientific person, I especially appreciated her attempts to relate the material to ordinary life, that is, how scientific concepts affect our daily lives, and the life of the planet.
I found it answered a lot of questions I had about how human beings came into existence, their genetic make up, the causes of disease, how and why drugs affect us as they do, and many other things I have long wondered about.
Sometimes finding an interesting, informative book at a particular time in your life can be very encouraging and motivating. Suffice to say I am now enrolled in a class in Biology at the college!

This book has most useful practical problem sets about atomic physics. All the problems are related to real experiments. One can learn both theories and experimental methods from them. Most importantly, this book provides lots of useful "numbers" that a physicists should memorize.
For physics graduate students, reading this book is a good way to review what you have learned in quantum mechanics class and to prepare for prelim qualifying exams.

This author was Lousia May Alcott's mentor. The story about Little Women came from this book! It is by far, much better with stronger morals and values that anything Alcott has written. I strongly suggest this book for all parents with children, especially daughters. It is one of those books you cannot put down until you are finished. Please read the review and more info about C.
