Laborious. Master of the Obvious. Good for Newbies........2001-11-01
If you're new to the field...then this is for you. But if you're experienced in IR -- as a practicioner or an executive, you'll find nothing new here.
For example, pages on end on why IR is marketing. There's one page on the all-important roadshow presentation; it reads "The organization of the presentation is extremely important." Well, Duh...
Laborious reading, but if you're a newbie and don't want to embarass yourself, lock yourself in a room with this for the weekend.
A good read, but not a good reference guide.......2000-04-27
I was looking for a great reference book that would quickly answer my questions. Unfortunately, this book must be read thoroughly (or at least a chapter at a time). The index could have been much, much more detailed. As it stands, the index is an afterthought, and a very bad one at that. With a better index, this could be a reference book. As it stands, it's still worth the read. I'll still be looking for a better reference guide, though.

An Excellent Beginner's Guide to IR.......1999-06-04
A very thorough review of the growing Investor Relations profession. Identifies modern techniques, strategies, resources, and basic SEC disclosure rules used in everything from the pre-IPO to the annual meeting. A great primer for anyone considering a career in Investor Relations.
Masterfully written by Wallace and Marcus.......1998-08-24
I greatly enjoyed reading NDiIR. I feel that Wallace and Marcus clearly know their subject. The book definitely showed the way to run a successful Investor Relations program. I would definitely recommend it to anyone excperienced in Investor Relations or just starting out. Well done Wallace and Marcus!

I bought this book some time ago and refer to it often when preparing for trial, or otherwise when time permits. Having been a criminal trial lawyer for over 18 years, this book still teaches me things that I either didn't know, or that I learned and had forgotten. It is easy to read and very helpful.
Good Practical Advice.......2007-04-06
Pro - The book offers a ton of practical experience on how to put together a trial step by step and also advice on pretrial discovery.
Con - The book does not go in depth explaining the evidence rules and how each hearsay exception applies or doesn't.
Overally - one of the more easily comprehensible trial prep books for a newly admitted attorney.
McElhaney's Magic.......2006-03-12
Classic McElhaney -- wisdom and wit together. The best at giving smart, efficient and practical advise. i already had McElhany's Litigation -- which i review before every trial. i have recommended him to my best friends who do trials. This is more of the same.
McElhaney's Trial Notebook.......2002-04-17
McElhaney's book contains all of the guidance one needs in order to prepare for trial. From practical guidance for organizing materials to inspirational passages on the formation of the theory of the case and argument, this book has it all. I prefer it to the Mauet book.
A "must have" for any up and coming young lawyer.......2001-03-29
This book was suggested to my Advanced Trial and Evidence class in lawschool. I decided to pick up a copy to see if it would really be worthwhile for my future practice since I want to litigate. It is excellent from what I have read so far. Many of us were shown or told how to do or say certain things in pretrial and trial litigation class. This book is not only a good reminder, but it has many other practical and entertaining ideas that I'm sure to use in my future practice. A "must have!"

Real-world tools for the courtroom........2000-11-28
Teaches the nuts and bolts of trial practice in a crystal clear, highly informative way, starting with creating the trial notebook and progressing through the entire sequence of the trial.
This is not a "Nutshell" for first-year law students; it's a 700-page How-To manual for anybody and everybody who wants to be effective in the courtroom. Written in plain English for lawyers whose understanding of "litigation" (McElhaney mocks the word) may be still be swimming in law-school abstractions.
McElhaney's examples allow the reader to understand HOW a lawyer's "magic" works on the jury, and --when something goes wrong-- why it goes wrong. Chock full of vivid word pictures that drive home the subtleties involved in picking a jury, taking an effective deposition, negotiating through the rules of evidence, impeaching a witness, and so on. The book is a toolbox, and McElhaney is a master teacher of his craft.
The book somehow manages to be chatty yet concise, educational AND thoroughly entertaining. Representative chapter titles include "The Horse Shed," "Trouble in the Woodshed," "The Perry Mason Trap," and "Getting Along With Judges." All good stuff.

This book is just fabulous!.......1999-12-18
This is one of the best stories ever written. Ebenezer Scrooge, is the biggest grouch on the world, almost murdering carolers that come to his door for the fact he just can't stand to be Merry, even at Christmas time. The 3 Ghosts (Ghost of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, Christmases to Come) take him to it's own time space, and show him how the Christmas was, and the funeral of Scrooge, only to find that he was unliked and hated, so that no one came to the funeral. This is a truly inspiring story, so I greatly encourage you to get this!
