This book is a nightmare; thoroughly confusing. Authors do not know how to teach! Brigham & Company will take 30 pages to explain a concept that can be done in 2 pages. I used this book for my finance class for my MBA; this one is not worth the money or your time.

Excellent Textbook. Retain After Graduation as Reference.......2003-11-01

As an MBA student, I have now had the opportunity to study different finance books. This is undoubtedly the best. The CD rom resources are excellent. I will certainly retain this book for refence after graduation.

Excellent!.......2003-09-27

This is no corporate finance for dummies book. So, don't expect to have "fun" with it. However, on a graduate level the book is near perfect. I especially appreciate its treatment of case studies - carrying the same case study from chapter to chapter where appropriate. There is a CDROM that contains, among other things, very useful and practical Excel templates for each chapter. The authors also provide foot notes that I encourage you to read. Many of them give the author's opinion of how the subject works in the real world verses the academic world. If you are the type that learns best by knowing the big picture first, make sure you get the Study Guide too.
My only beef with this text is in the index, which is woefully lacking -- rendering it less useful as a research source.

Terrible Book.......2003-09-16

This book is terrible. I am an educated person, but it seems that your undergrad must be in finance in order to get any use out of it. If you are required to use this book for your graduate finance class (and you don't have a degree in finance), please invest in the study guide. It will help you a great deal.

A great casebook limited to noncorporate entities.......2006-12-11

The same authors publish a larger, more complete casebook "Business Associations" that contains all these materials (Agency, Partnership, and limited liability entities) plus corporations. The statutory materials (Agency Rest., UPA, RUPA, ULLCA) are ommited from the larger text, but a stat. suplement is available. If you're taking corporations and agency as two separate courses, this larger text may cover both.

Great Agency and Partnership Casebook .......2006-08-30

Great A&P text. Selected cases are on point, and the dicta does a pretty good job (as good as a case book can do) of describing the black letter law of A&P. Cases appear well edited (e.g. short, readable) and are current (don't like casebooks that keep citing 1800s british cases, this one uses cases by and large since WWII, so easy to pull up citations online.

Although size exclusion chromatography (SEC) is perhaps the most popular and widely used technique for determining the molecular weight distribution of polymeric materials, there have been very few texts written on this topic. During the past decade, SEC has experienced a considerable amount of growth in regard to column and detector technology and new applications. With these advances, SEC can now be used for determining absolute molecular weight, polymer chain conformation and size, and branching, as well as polymer solution properties. Good book, but highly OVERPRICED.......2001-08-30

This book introduces the fundamental concepts of Size Exclusion Chromatography with emphasis in the practical aspects, without going into many details, or mathematics, but gives the necessary information. It is very readable and it is not intended to the specialist in SEC, but for people who use it, especially in polymer analysis.
On the downside, it is very, very, very overpriced.

A must for practitioners of SEC.......2001-04-11

Even though over 20 years old, this text remains the standard in the field of SEC. The introductory chapters on retention, band broadening, and resolution not only are a must read but will be returned to many times. The sections on instrumentation, detectors, columns, and data handling are still useful, but are dated. This book could greatly benefit from a second edition, to include updated detection and column methodologies, as well as hyphenated techniques. As such, because it is not a cheap book, it is probably not the ideal textbook. However, academics, industrial practitioners, and anyone who is seeking either basic or advanced SEC info will probably find what they need here. It should also be mentioned that the treatment of solution thermodynamics (i.e., the combined effects of solvent and temperature on dissolution and dilute solution properties) is above average for an SEC text. For a 20+ year old book, the treatment of the subject matter has held up extremely well.

Shuji Nakamura's development of a blue semiconductor laser on the basis of GaN opens the way for a host of new applications of semiconductor lasers. The wavelengths can be tuned by controlling the composition. Not the complete story - - but certainly a useful book.......2007-03-23

Subtitled 'The Complete Story' - it is not - it's just the early years of the story. Whilst this is a very instructive book and a great introduction to the blue laser diode story and technical detail, plenty of others contributed significantly to the blue laser diode story -- but that is not much of what you read in this 'bio' of Nakamura-san. At least you get some brief references to other teams' contributions.

The book reads like a set of 'cut-and-pastes' from Nakamura and his team's research papers - which is no bad thing. It's certainly good to have so much really useful material in one place.

Greatest book on the new Blue Semiconductor Lasers!.......2000-06-25

This book is by far, the best book I have read about the latest Blue Laser Technology. I give the content and organization of information my highest regard.

Kant complained that the failure of philosophy in the eighteenth-century to respond to empirical scepticism had produced a culture of "indifferentism." Tim Milnes explores the tension between this epistemic indifference and a perpetual compulsion to know. The tension is most clearly evident in the prose writing of the period, in works such as Wordsworth's Preface to Lyrical Ballads, Hazlitt's Essay on the Principles of Human Action, and Coleridge's Biographia Literaria.
