A new Introduction contextualises the pieces within the empirical and analytical developments in Latin American and Andean anthropology. The essays discuss key concerns and cultural symbols of the indigenous peasants of the Andes: the importance of the land and practices relating to its continued fertility; the cult of the dead; the complex division of labour and forms of circulation within the indigenous economy; the question of gender; and the mythological figure of the earth-mother. While based upon detailed ethnographic research, all the chapters also engage in theoretical and analytical debate both within and beyond the discipline.

When I read the original, I knew I was reading a classic. I thought, "wow, great work, brilliant and interesting writing, I now know what I need to win my own lawsuit, but what more could be said on the topic". I was wrong. Evan Aidman updates this classic work with relevant and pertinent information for todays fast moving world. If you want to win your personal injury claim, or, if you are just in the mood for a great absorbent read, buy this book.

I recommend both books as they are well written, easy to follow and helped me save alot of money from my claim. Both books are recommended if you are trying to settle a claim by yourself without using an attorney. The books helped me to save over 8000 dollars on my car accident/personal injury claim.

I had a small case and didn't want to turn a 1/3 of it over to a lawyer so I got this book. It explained step by step what to expect and do and I was able therefore to maximize value and minimize effort on my own claim.

This book is definitely not a book for the do it yourself legal person. It is a book length sales pitch about why you need a lawyer and what to do with one once you have one. It's a well written book with lots of information but it is not what it is billed to be.

we used this book as part of a class i was taking. i am so glad that the professor picked this one out!
the beginning of the book gives you the building blocks, and the later chapters help you put it all together. i realized that a lot of people who help you with proofreading don't really look for some of the organizational items that the author stresses.
i reccommend this book for any graduate student, as well as anyone else who is looking to improve their writing. it might also be a good tool for mentors to use to work with their students.

Very good book, examples used bit too technical.......2005-10-21

Very good book for beginners and experienced researchers! I haven't come across any other book that actually describes how you should write a biomedical paper. The only critique is that the examples used are too technical for non-biomedical researchers, this makes it hard to understand the examples. But even if you do not have a biomedical background you will learn a lot from this book.

Authoritative guide on how to write. I have never seen a more comprehensive book on how to write clearly and write well. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Even non-scientists should read this. (Having said that, though, scientists IN PARTICULAR should read this - hint, hint.)

A good book for Classes on Human Learning.......2002-05-07

I have adopted this text for a class on Human Learning and have found it to be an easily read and useful text. Morgan covers the essentials of "typical" learning modalities...classical, operant and social, and also moves on to address some cognitive issues, which is nice for us teachers who don't necessarily adopt Behaviorist philosophies. The book is written to be easily readable by most college students, though like all texts on learning there is an overemphasis on animal studies which get a bit dry and also are of questionable utility. The text could also benefit from a tad more skepticism regarding the utility of some behavioral technique, particularly given some of the controversies surrounding behavioral therapies for autism (i.e. Lovaas) and other disorders. Nonetheless this book makes for a very helpful text.

This book covers the foundations of classical thermodynamics, with emphasis on the use of differential forms of classical and quantum statistical mechanics, and also on the foundational aspects. In both contexts, a number of applications are considered in detail, such as the general theory of response, correlations and fluctuations, and classical and quantum spin systems. In the quantum case, a self-contained introduction to path integral methods is given. In addition, the book discusses phase transitions and critical phenomena, with applications to the Landau theory and to the Ginzburg-Landau theory of superconductivity, and also to the phenomenon of Bose condensation and of superfluidity. Finally, there is a careful discussion on the use of the renormalization group in the study of critical phenomena.

Best Stat Mech Book I've read.......2003-07-13

Although it is a little weak in the coverage of all applications of statistical mechanics, my overall rating for this book is excellent. It's comprehensible inclusion of mathematics such as group theory and topology in a typical stat. mech. exposition as well as its superlative treatment of spin hamiltonians are among the reasons for my enthusiastic rating.
