Whether you are considering starting a business or are already underway, No Money Down Financing for Franchising is a comprehensive tool that can help you reach the height of your business dreams. It explores every resource available for franchise financing, including many methods that require no money down. It explains the vital points that will help you put your best foot forward when seeking funding.

Broken down into three logical steps, No Money Down Financing for Franchising covers all of the information you need to put your plan into action.

      * Part One reviews the preliminaries of financing as a prospective franchisee - rating your credit, developing financial statements, and understanding the necessary investment requirements.

      * Part Two is a unique in-depth study of how to develop your franchise business plan. How to combine all the elements of your business plan - from franchise summary, business objectives and marketing plans to management qualifications - with your franchisor's successful history to create one cohesive business plan.

      * Part Three covers sources of equity or debt financing, and sources of franchisor financing. In addition, it covers how to professionally package your proposal, set up an appointment, and give a winning presentation.

While the appendices give source names and contact information, Appendix F is a unique, comprehensive listing of all the franchisors that have reported to provide financial assistance.

      2 out of 5 stars Title Doesn't Match Contents.......2002-10-23

This book is well-written, concise, and offers the uninitiated a good introduction to franchise planning and financing. However, I was disappointed that this is not really a book about "No Money Down Franchise Financing" at all. The first half of the book talks about basic business plan development and the second half talks about different sources of financing. But it approaches the issue of financing at a very, very basic level. In my opinion, a lot more attention should have been given to describing what lenders really look for and how to effectively structure your balance sheet, partnerships, etc. The section on SBA loans, for example, is dreadfully thin and, what's more, I have not found anything in this book that really truly explains how to get "No Money Down" financing. The issue of collateral is only briefly touched upon (a major obstacle for most borrowers). In summary, this a good business planning book for beginners, but a creative financing book it is not.

5 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this book........1999-07-20

Very helpful. To the point. Nicely organized with real help for starting and planning a franchise.

        Book Description

The foundations of tort law in various European legal systems differ considerably. Until now, there has not been an attempt to harmonise the entire field of tort law in a consistent manner. To rectify this, a group of tort lawyers has proposed to address the fundamental questions underlying every tort law system. The result is this important series of books, which searches for a common law of Europe without the necessity yet to lay these principles down in formal legal texts, such as a European civil code.

Identifying the most relevant factors in establishing liability as wrongfulness, causation, damage, fault, and the area of strict liability, the authors concentrate on the tort liability factor under discussion in each volume, combining theoretical abstract analysis with the discussion of concrete cases. Each author gives an overview of the particular tort liability factor under his or her national legal system -- primarily by working out the concept and its importance in establishing liability -- and then applies the analysis to actual cases. The subsequent conclusions aim at the coordination of the results and other important factors.

In summary, each volume tries to make clear what common ground pertaining to each tort liability factor underlies all the legal systems concerned with respect to the law of tort. Each volume also provides the academic and practitioner with the fundamental issues relating to that factor underlying the law of tort in the countries covered.

          Book Description

This comprehensive, step-by-step laboratory training manual brings all the elements for a successful embryo transfer program together in a simple, organized, illustrated format. For the last several decades, artificial insemination has allowed genetic progress to be achieved relatively quickly through the widespread and efficient use of frozen semen. As a result of the advancement of embryo transfer (ET) techniques, cows can produce many offspring. A more rapid genetic gain is achieved which complements an artificial insemination program.

            Book Description

This book is devoted to technologies which are still developing but which are likely to take over from artifical insemination as the farmer's main tool to produce large numbers of high-quality calves. Cattle oocyte recovery, in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer are techniques which permit cows to produce calves of a genetic quality and composition quite unlike that of the surrogate mother herself. They also enable cows, under suitable conditions, to produce two calves rather than one. There are now over one hundred laboratories involved in producing cattle embryos by in vitro maturation and fertilization of oocytes. Indeed the author's own work has led to the establishment of a biotechnology company which has commercialized the production process. Based on a comprehensive review of the literature, this book presents current knowledge of the laboratory production of cattle embryos and the way in which such embryos might be used in commmercial application and research. It is shown that the processes may be the starting point for many other developments in cattle breeding and in the future be applied to other farm animals and also humans. The book, written by one of the world's leading authorities on the subject, is a major reference work for those in the academic and commerical sectors concerned with animal breeding, reproduction and biotechnology.

This streamlined, fully updated Fifth Edition maintains the same accessible, applications-driven approach as its predecessors—beginning with a firm foundation in the principles of surveying, then supporting this foundation with real-world construction applications. While Kavanagh does reflect the latest developments in techniques and instrumentation, coverage also includes in-depth discussions of more traditional topics. The volume examines surveying principles including surveying fundamentals, distance measurement, leveling, geomatics, global positioning systems (GPS) and construction control surveys, as well as highway, municipal street, pipeline and tunnel, culvert and bridge and building construction surveys. For those involved in civil engineering and construction/building technology.

2 out of 5 stars A mile wide and an inch deep.......2000-01-13

I teach a college level surveying class. This book attempts to cover too much data without going into adequate detail. For an introductory class, it covers the basics too fast. For an advanced class, it does not deal adequately with the specifics. As an instructor, the book offers no support such as answer keys or internet support. I recommend Brinker & Wolf for intro classes and Constructions Surveying and Layout by Crawford for construction surveying classes.

2 out of 5 stars BOOK IS NOT AS INFORMATIVE AS ONE WOULD HOPE........1997-10-18

As an instructor, I found the problems associated with the LandSurveying field to be dated and calculations to be incorrect at times. It would help to have an answer key in order to figure out if your questions that the author wrote, can actually come up with the correct answers. I have been requesting an "Answer Key" for 2 years and yet to be able to receive one. I work for USD 501 and Teach Land Surveying. END

                Book Description

This text describes how fractal phenomena, both deterministic and random, change over time, using the fractional calculus. The intent is to identify those characteristics of complex physical phenomena that require fractional derivatives or fractional integrals to describe how the process changes over time. The discussion emphasizes the properties of physical phenomena whose evolution is best described using the fractional calculus, such as systems with long-range spatial interactions or long-time memory. In many cases, classic analytic function theory cannot serve for modeling complex phenomena; "Physics of Fractal Operators" shows how classes of less familiar functions, such as fractals, can serve as useful models in such cases. Because fractal functions, such as the Weierstrass function (long known not to have a derivative), do in fact have fractional derivatives, they can be cast as solutions to fractional differential equations. The traditional techniques for solving differential equations, including Fourier and Laplace transforms as well as Green's functions, can be generalized to fractional derivatives. Physics of Fractal Operators addresses a general strategy for understanding wave propagation through random media, the nonlinear response of complex materials, and the fluctuations of various forms of transport in heterogeneous materials. This strategy builds on traditional approaches and explains why the historical techniques fail as phenomena become more and more complicated.

                            Book Description

Strange events are occurring around the world, involving lights, sounds and flags that are hung in seemingly impossible to get to locations. At the meeting of the Weldon Club in Philadelphia, Uncle Prudent (President) and Phil Evans (Secretary) and the membership debate about whether their balloon the Go-Ahead, should have its directional screw located in the front or the back. A man called Robur interrupts and takes over their meeting; he insists that to master the skies, a flying vehicle must be heavier than air. His remarks infuriate the balloonists and after their meeting, Uncle Prudent and Phil are kidnapped and taken on an around the world trip in the Albatross, Robur's heavier than air "Clipper of the Clouds".

The pistol shots were almost simultaneous. A cow peacefully grazing fifty yards away received one of the bullets in her back. She had nothing to do with the quarrel all the same.

1 out of 5 stars Along for the ride but, not part of the story.......2005-06-14

Verne's Robur the Conqueror and Master of the World begins with almost Swift-ian satire as the reader is introduced to the members of the Philadelphia Institute, a scientific society in the process of launching a motorized balloon. It devolves into a meandering, and poor travelogue as the two principle members of the institute, Uncle Prudent and Phil Evans, are abducted by the mysterious Robur. Robur has crafted a heavier than air machine and despite seeing it operate while onboard the two prisoners stubbornly cling to their idea that only lighter than air ships are the wave of the future.

In trying to create another enigmatic character similar to Captain Nemo Verne leaves out ANY characterization or background on Robur. The man is completely one dimensional and therefore uninteresting and unsympathetic. The rest of the story is an around the world tour on Robur's ship the Albatross, part helicopter with multiple ascender propellers. Verne describes places from the prairies of America to the cities of China and India, but all literally from a distance as the ship never touches down at any point so no characters can interact or form any semblance of a story.

Continued in the Master of the World Vern introduces Strock the American Police officer who is sent to investigate mysteries in Georgia and later to chase equally mysterious road, water and submersible technological terrors across the United States. It is not hard to guess the operator of these machines is Robur again. Just as cardboard and just as devoid of motive for doing the things he does. The character of Strock is once again along for the ride in Robur's craft; always as narrator, never as participant. Dry and plodding with only the fact of Verne's uncanny forecast of technology to supply any interesting points.

                            3 out of 5 stars Inferior to 20,000 Leagues.......2004-04-12

When bright lights and strange aerial phenomenon begin to be seen around the world, everyone is perplexed as to what such a thing could be. But, when the president and secretary of the Weldon Institute (a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA balloon enthusiast society) are kidnapped by a seemingly mad engineer, Robur, they quickly find that he and his fantastic airship are responsible for the strange phenomenon. Robur has mastered heavier-than-air travel, with his giant electric-powered helicopter, and he is out to rebuild the world in his image. Can his poor prisoners escape from the clutches of Robur, and how will they stop his plans?

This book was first published in 1886 by that early master of science fiction, Jules Verne (1828-1904). In many ways it is reminiscent of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but set in the air. For it's time, it was quite forward thinking in its science, and it has a very interesting story. However, it does drag at times, and overall the author does not succeed in generating any real drama therein.

Also, there is another reason why this book will never be considered one of Monsieur Verne's great works, and this is the character Frycollin, the only African-American character in the story. He is presented as an unvarnished Stepin Fetchit-type character, complete with calling his employer "Master", even though he had never known slavery. Indeed, at one point, Mr. Verne mentions Frycollin crying, "Like a child, like the Negro he was..." Yes, I do know that you cannot demand modern thinking out of people of the past, but Verne does go far too far with this character, Frycollin is definitely the poison pill of this story.

So, let me just say that I found this to be an OK book, decidedly inferior to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and with the poison pill of racism included. Overall, I do not recommend this book.
