This intriguing book shows how freedom from both economic and emotional insecurity can be achieved in practical, creative, and noncompetitive ways. The approach outlined in this book enables us to find our proper place in the cosmic scheme and to create for ourselves a harmonious environment in which to grow in wealth, wisdom, and happiness.
Customer Reviews:
Financial Freedom obtainable.......2007-08-24
It's hard to believe that this book was written in 1910! We are all seeking happiness, illumination, security and truth. This book reveals some of the gifts of life for which we are searching. The author is greatly illumined and brings us the gifts of light through this book and his other books. EXCELLENT!!
Science of Getting Rich.......2007-03-19
This book is the retitled, Science of Getting Rich, by the same author. Is this the secret? Some good principles along with some bones. Like a good filet of fish, partake of the good, spit out the bones. I don't ask the universe, I ask the God of the Universe.
This Book Is Good If You Want To Learn The Technique Of Visualization........2006-09-25
I must partly agree with A Reader's June 18, 2000 review. The issue that I too have with some of these books, including the movie, The Secret, is that they focus on material wealth. That which is materialistic is temporary and therefor can never be a permanent source of lasting happiness. Lasting peace comes from within and is eternal. When we die, we take nothing with us, not even our bodies. Alot of these types of teachings drive people further into attachment to things, people, and places, which causes continued suffering. Think about it, if there is something that you want and you let go of needing to have it, and you become detached from needing it and detached from the certain outcome of attaining it, you feel lighter inside. You feel at ease, less needy, less desperate, and less controling. Ahhhh (breathes deeply), that's the point.
However, human beings do live on this physical plane. And they do need to learn the basics of being the creators that they are. However, as good as I think this book is, I think it is misleading. All it teaches is the tool of visualization which is invaluable in itself, but it is not always the solidary road to financial success. This is no doubt a good read, but the subject does need to be taken further by those who genuinely seek the path. Read the book, utilize the tools, but beware of attachment. Attachment makes the world miserable.
Warning!.......2005-01-07
This is a really great book and I highly recommend it, but be warned that this is the same book as The Science of Getting Rich. I bought this thinking that I was getting a different book by the author since I was so impressed with the Science of Getting Rich. I didn't mind at all getting a paperback version of this classic which I had previously read in ebook form, so I kept it. Highly recommended along with Napoleon Hills The Think and Grow Rich Action Pack.

Customer Reviews:
I hope this is not the Gabelli Way........2003-04-02
I am unsure what book the rest of the reviewers are reading; but it was not this one. The book is not only ambiguous, but poorly crafted with topical transitions sloppy. I can comfortably say that there is not a single section of the book that adequately unveils the dynamics of various convertible instruments or their pricing. Indeed, the book reads more like a glossary than an explanatory text and for persons new to converts, the spate of regurgitated pricing theories will likely do more harm then good. Perhaps the one strength of the text is that it serves as a broad reference for readers truly interested in converts to seek out more educative pieces. For more informed readers, modest incremental knowledge seems to be the only gain.
Convertible tour de force.......2003-03-10
Quite a few books have been written about the specialized subject of convertible securities, but Hart Woodson has distinguished himself by writing a comprehensive book that includes all of the latest types of convertible securities as well as the latest strategies--in plain language that a beginner could comprehend, and with sophisticated equations included for the sophisticated quant. Better still, the book is not simply an ad for convertibles nor for his employer, Gabelli Asset Management. The pitfalls as well as the potentials are described. Hart can write. Hart has broad experience. He puts it all together in this practical book.
Brilliant, comprehensive, insightful.......2002-04-15
A must read for anyone interested in a clear and consise review of all the relevant information regarding this timely topic. Mr. Woodson demonstrates his precise and broad understanding of all the issues surrounding convertible investing, and presents such knowledge in a profounding easy to read fashion. This one shouldn't be missed. Clearly one of the authoritative sources out there!!
comprehensive book that's great for any knowledge level.......2002-04-09
This book is a fantastic resource for investors who are new to convertibles, convertible experts and everyone in between. It provides a great breadth of topics as well as a perfect amount of depth. It covers the full range of convertible products, the theory behind them and convertible investing strategies. I'll be keeping this book handy.
learn convertibles the easy way.......2002-04-05
Hart Woodson has put together an easy to understand guide to convertibles. The book covers all aspects for hedge funds to outright purchasers of the product on a global basis. In depth enough for the seasoned professional and yet basic enough for those trying to understand convertibles for the first time.

Book Description
Designed As A Review Text For The New York State Physical Setting/earth Science Course, This Book Covers All Earth Science Topics For High School. The book is organized into three main study units: astronomy; meteorology; and geology.
Customer Reviews:
Great review source for earth science.......2007-09-20
This is a great review source, I used it to suppliment my study for the CLEP natural sciences exam. It helped fill in the gaps, I wish REA would come out with a study guide for the natural sciences exam, but I was able to pass just fine with this book and a couple others. Great reference for sure.
WOW! TEST SCORES ARE UP^^!!!.......2003-06-13
Wow!! I am in 8th grade and taking the High School Regent Earth Science course, and before I bought this book I was getting 50s and 60s on tests (my quarter average was a 84) and after I did the review questions in each chapter I havn't gotten anything below a 85 (now my average is a 94)!! This made my average go up 10 points, and if it can work for me, it can definitely work for you. My mom said it was the best money she ever spent, and I also bought the Barron's Regents Earth Science Exams and Answers book, but unfortunately it was a "little" overused and I can't read anything in it.. O WELL THIS REALLY HELPS! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! it even has a full exam in the back and a vocab section that shows vocab words to know for the test, it's really good!
Excellent!.......2002-06-27
If you've been having trouble understanding the in-depth details of Earth Science and even just regular science, this book is for the new expert. It gives you plenty of details of every topic that you've learned in this course, and gives you many regents questions to study from (for the power pack).
You'll be amazed, just like I was. The book contains a lot of pictures/diagrams/etc. describing what you are learning about to help you comprehend better what you've just sighted out in the units. One thing I appreciated is that if by any chance, if you didn't understand the topic you were learning about, just go back in the index and it will show a secondary page number or a page where it shows more analysis of the particular topic you're studying.
Even though the Regents won't give you the exact same questions from an old exam on a new exam, it is still a very crucial part in studying old Regents questions. GUARENTEED: It will create more skills as a whole in terms of understanding the questions and answers; primarily eliminating answers that you cannot recognize or ones that don't make any sence, and keeping the one answer that makes the most logic or sence... This is a BIG help in trying to get a good grade on your exam. If you get the Regents questions book, you will be provided with answers to all questions, and it can really make you realize why that answer is the way it should be. It'll create more facts in your head.
One thing is for sure, is that you can't miss this book. My point of view is that you should review throughly throughout this book, and review as many questions as you can. I did this, and I received an 86 percent for my average on the regents, and you can even do better that I can!
NOTE: Order this book right when school starts or sooner, so you can be prepared.
earth science.......2001-08-19
earth science is an exctremely hard subject but with this book u willget straight A's all the tim.get this book and review all the notes, it will helpyou a great deal
A Great Book, which is a great subsitute to the old and...........2001-07-30
Listen, this book is mad good. I took the Earth Science Regents in 8th Grade in June 2001, and all of the material was covered by this book. The day before I took the test, I was cramming out of this book. Even though I was getting 95s in science, the material did not make sense. But everyday in May, I studied with another version of this book, and it helped refresh my memory of Earth Science. With this book, it helped me comphrend and ace the regents with flying colors. I was able to get a 88 in the regents exam from this book. I highly recommend this book to everyone that is going to take the Earth Science Regents in New York State. For the difficult comprehender, it will help build connections to topics that will help you pass the regents, and for the forgetful type, it will refresh your memory. Take my word for it, and buy it. Its worth the price it is.

Book Description
Interest in the Turin Shroud continues to the present day even though it was finally carbon dated in 1988 and shown not to be of an age consistent with Christ's burial. Scientifically, the age of the shroud cloth is of little consequence, but to the general public, it is of considerable significance. The author Harry E. Gove is a co-inventor of accelerator mass spectrometry and was responsible for its use in establishing whether the Turin Shroud could have been Christ's burial cloth. Relic, Icon or Hoax?: Carbon Dating the Turin Shroud presents an eyewitness account of the events that culminated in the final determination of the age of the linen cloth of the Turin Shroud and some of the subsequent reactions to the results. The book discusses the application of accelerator mass spectrometry to the carbon dating of the Turin Shroud using samples only a few square centimeters in area and weighing only a few tens of milligrams.
Customer Reviews:
Gove whining about the Vatican not accepting his protocol.......2007-08-01
Harry Gove developed the method of radiocarbon dating that was used to date the Shroud of Turin. He was a professor at the University of Rochester. Compared to world-class scientific universities like MIT, it would essentially be considered a third-rate institution in that field.
Gove proposed a protocol to test the Shroud. The Vatican approved a different proposal. Basically the choice of protocol was largely a matter of Vatican politics. Gove was foolish enough to think that because he invented the test method he could go toe-to-toe with the Vatican in political wrangling by using the media (in the 1970's) and have a chance of winning. This book is basically Gove whining about how his protocol was better and should have been adopted. It's primary contribution is details of the various meetings. However, since even the protocols suggested at the various meetings were ultimately not approved, it is really just a waste of time.
Highly readable but biased account.......2007-02-19
I had to write a review if only to correct the record. Harry Gove has written a highly entertaining book about the Carbon Dating or the Shroud ostensibly but it is far more a record of Harry Gove's desire to use the Shroud dating as a poster child for AMS (Accellerated Mass Spectrometry). In the process he manages to come across as a single minded and determined individual with a very large ax to grind.
He trashes STURP as "true believers" whatever those are, and fails to note the contradictions in his own positions as he careens through the book. Someone who wants to find out something about the Shroud of Turin or even much about AMS should go elsewhere. This is a book all about Harry Gove on a quest and he trashes anyone that disagrees with him.
I like to keep this book next to The Rape of the Turin Shroud by William Meacham which is a useful counterbalance to Gove's venom.
If you are interested in this fascinating time in the history of the Shroud of Turin than you can't miss the book. But don't buy it expecting anything like impartiality or dispassionate objectivity. It is a book about Gove on a mission. It's fun and entertaining but what you find out is how Gove judges everyone regardless of whether he has any competence to make the judgment or not -- usually he doesn't.
Nevertheless a fun, entertaining and riotous frolic through the complex ways of science and religion in a skeptical era.
Informative and surprisingly easy to read and understand.......2002-02-15
I have always been fascinated by the Turin Shroud. When it was finally carbon dated and sadly proved to be a fake (or is it a fake, even now there are doubts?) I felt immense sadness even though I am not of the Christian faith.
In the early 1970s onwards Professor Grove set about with a group of fellow scientists, religious zealots, curious hangers-on and an assortment of faithful doubters to use this new technique in a scientific manner to prove the worth of carbon dating. And what better than a piece of historical enigma to use this new discovery on other than the Turin Shroud?
This book follows Professor Grove through the many years of negotiation it took before the Vatican finally allowed the controversial experiment to go ahead.
In parts this book is highly technical but Professor Grove manages to make himself and the theory behind Carbon dating understood. He is never sentimental but I picked up on a quiet unspoken faith he has in both the scientific and the religious and he comes across as man who somehow manages to balance these diametrically opposed modes of thought in a coherent and sensible way..
This is both a good read, surprisingly quite humorous in parts as well as being a technical masterpiece which anyone with a leaning toward academia will appreciate. Worth getting out from your local library if the cost is too prohibitive.
Customer Reviews:
A book for anyone who is interested in Donne.......2007-05-28
Donne's poetry was a major factor in my eventual conversion to the
Anglican Church. Whether you are interested in the Anglican tradition or just interested in Donne's amazing poetry, you should read this book. It exhibits all the sensitivity and scholarship which this complex man and poet deserves.
Is This the Same Book?.......2005-11-06
Not simply to engage with the previous reviewer, but I must wonder if we are reading the same book? Edwards' volume on Donne presents a very human view of the complicated individual that Donne was; very far from hagiography. Donne's own distinctive place in the Church of England of his time - and what we would now call Anglicanism - is vividly presented. This book does seem to me to be well informed in terms of literatary criticism and engages responsibly with Donne scholarship across the spectrum. The poetry is not disparaged; it's just not the main focus. This would be a fine introduction to Donne's theological and homiletical work.
Donne Undone Again.......2003-02-26
This "biography/criticism" of John Donne does little more than reveal Mr. Edwards' own prejudices. As a theologian, Mr. Edwards showcases his contempt for Donne's early life and work, and uses Donne's later sermons and religious poems to display his own religious erudition. Mr. Edwards appears to see Donne as nothing but an Anglican apologist. The book shows limited understanding of historical or literary criticism, and scant sympathy with Donne's very human struggles. This book merely reinforces the already muddled body of Donne scholarship.
