Original Book is great, but this "editor comment" version is too much.......2007-07-04

The book is great. But it is frustrating to keep hearing the "editor's comment" and then "end of editor's comment" and then the comments from the editor. I appreciate the editor putting in his or her two cents, but it is frustrating when you get into the deep thought about what Napoleon Hill is saying, then suddenly, the message "editor's comment" disrupts your thought. To me, it is an ego trip of this editor by putting in too, too much of his comment. The whole CD 2 of the 9 CD is packed with Editor's comment. It is frustrated keep getting interrupted over and over by the "Editor's Comments" and I decided to vent online to let someone else know not to buy this version. If you want to buy, go for the original, the unabridged version of Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich.

I am very happy that I bought this edition of Think & Grow Rich. Having already read the original edition, I could certainly feel the difference in the effect the book had on me where-in I could relate the principles to the real life examples around me (rather than something that happened in distant past, when I was not even born :-))

Except for a minor flaw in CD - 8 where a 2 sentences are repeated respectively, the quality of the recording and oration is excellent.

Good introduction to Transferprice Literature.......2002-04-05

Perhaps the best (introduction) book on transferprices and multinationals I've ever read. Eden provides a good introduction in the economic theory of multinationals founded on the theory of the firm. Afterwards, she presents the microeconomic basis of the effects of taxation on the production process within the MNE. Propositions for a future taxation system in the EU are made, also the unitary concept is evaluated.

This book, and the other two volumes to follow soon after, offer the scientific community the works and thoughts of Santiago Ramón y Cajal by the faithful rendition of the original Spanish version of the Texture of the Nervous System of Man and the Vertebrates (1899–1904), with additional facts contained in the French translation (1909–1911). These non-English versions are being quoted an average of 200 times yearly in the scientific literature. Unique features of the present work include: • Only authorized English translation of the original Spanish text, adhering as much as possible to the letter, with correction of the obvious errors already predicted by Cajal in his Preface. • Added facts appearing in the French version, with correction of old as well as new errors, the latter probably due to inaccuracies in translating into French some nuances of the Spanish language. • Uniform of nomenclature according to contemporary scientific English. • Annotations on Cajal’s changing concepts over time, the elucidation of certain structures that do not have present day equivalents, and explanations of the many symbols appearing in illustrations but not mentioned in the corresponding original legends. • Most illustrations are reproductions of Cajal’s original art work, still extant at the Cajal Museum in Madrid, with cross references to figure numbers of the Spanish and French versions. • Citations are given by author and year in the text, with an alphabetical list at the end of the volume, completed and corrected for accuracy against original publications. • Taxonomy glossary of species appearing in the text, with present scientific names, and their colloquial English counterparts. has been updated in the light of recent oceanographic research, and improved
as a teaching text on the basis of feedback from past students and other
readers.

Notable additions include new sections addressing the topic of
numerical modelling, and more discussion of natural oscillations in the
ocean-atmosphere system (previously confined to the El Niño phenomenon). In
particular, the Chapter on the North Atlantic now includes a discussion of
the North Atlantic Oscillation, as well as of the Great Salinity Anomaly. In
the final Chapter, treatment of water mass formation has been updated to
reflect recent ideas about the processes involved and how they relate to
climatic change over different time-scales, from decades to millennia.

Excellent primer; second in a set of three books.......2004-12-23

What a wonderful text book! Clear, concise: lots of good diagrams, very interesting satelite photos, excellent chapter summaries and really thought provoking practice questions.

Starts with the basics (atmospheric dynamics) and gets into a little depth (ocean currents, no pun intended). This book is the perfect introduction to oceanography. But it's a tiny bit dated, published in 1989; not clear if it's been updated in its 1995 printing. We've learned a lot more about the oceans since then, especially Japanese research on The Pipeline: two thousand years to complete a single circuit.

Our planet, while probably not unique, is a truly marvellously complex system. This book shows how the anthropic principle is operating, and the unlikelihood of finding another planet that would suit us as well, which is a strong argument in favor of terra forming.

This book is the second in a set of three on physical oceanography. Really worth the time and effort (and money) to read the set.

Great introduction and background.......2003-12-17

The Open University series of books on Oceanography is excellent. I would recommend them for anyone wanting a background on the subject, all the way from lay readers to 1st year grad students. As an oceanographer, I still use mine from time to time to refresh my memory! There are intermediate texts, such as Intro to Dynamical Oceanography, but you really can't beat the illustrations and simple explanatory problems of this text for someone's first introduction to the material.

This book provides a very accessible introduction to a topic that is often confusing to newcomers. It introduces the concepts and equations of oceanography in a step-by-step manner, with self-quizzes and problems to assist the reader in grasping the concepts. The book is good for people exploring an education in oceanography, or for people who are not oceanographers but need to understand the concepts for their own research. The book takes you from being a novice to understanding the different issues, terminology, and methods of data presentation typical of the field. A grasp of the material puts you in a position to dive into the oceanographic literature and pull out the information relevant to your own field of study.

This is the starting point and best resource for anyone at all interested in ferrofluids. The text is rich with background theory, synthesis techniques and novel applications. Many of the topics and applications are more relevant today than when the text was written due to advancements in new materials especially in the areas of nanotechnology and biomedical engineering. You won't find a better resource for the price.

Fantastic book.......2001-08-17

I cannot recommend this book more highly. Difficult aspects are presented thoroughly for what often seems a cryptic field of study for those new to the science. Nearly all aspects of particle interaction are detailed from magnetic repulsion to quasi-stable equilibriums. Also detailed in the text is an excellent overview of Earnshaw's Theorem as applied to magnetostatics.
