Ms. Gustafson book is the pep talk that women wish their Mother's would have given them! She helps us all realize the individuality of our definitions of success and outlines how to realize those goals.

It is an easy weekend read, with great exercises to get you thinking. Would recommend it for women ages 18-88 to help all of them make the most of each stage of their life. Success is yours for the making and taking!

This book analyzes real options valuation for non-constant versus constant interest rates using simulation and historical backtesting. Several real options are investigated and combined with various pricing tools and stochastic term structure models. Interest rates for real options valuation are simulated by using stochastic term structure models (Vasicek, Cox-Ingersoll-Ross, Ho-Lee, and Hull-White one-factor and two-factor models) and by using implied forward rates. The book shows that the assumption of a constant interest rate in real options valuation is not justifiable. All necessary theory is provided in the book. The analyses were conducted using a proprietary computer simulation program. All results are explained in detail and rules are derived for application in Corporate Finance practice. For the first time, a systematic analysis based on simulations and historical backtesting compares real options valuation using constant interest rates and the implied forward rates with methods that simulate interest rates stochastically.

The concept of digital terrain modelling (DTM) began about fifty years ago. The original concept was very simple, the three dimensions of each point were simply put into a database. Over time the technologies of using the data, collecting the data, and the storage of the data has developed into ever more complex forms.

This book has chapters on each of these general areas. It is truly a comprehensive mathematically rigorous guide to DTM as it exists today.

In addition to the chapters on producing the various kinds of models, there are a couple of chapters on applications to illustrate the kinds of things that are being done with DTM.

This book could have been better. But considering how many books on CCDs are actually available - this book is too good to be true. It is fairly in-depth and deals with a broad array of topics. Processing (eg. doping levels etc) perspective should have been better.

Stepping Out On A Limb For The Sake Of Truth.......2002-04-18

Upton Sinclair took a considerable gamble by writing this book and had to withstand a good deal of criticism as a consequence of it. It was obvious, though, that he felt this was a story that needed to be told, and we should be glad he went through with his hunch.

The book is essentially a description of a large number of experiments done in the areas of mental telepathy and remote reviewing, broken down into sets or groups of sessions. The author tends to bend over backwards to convince the public of the sincere intentions of all involved in these tests - mostly his wife, himself, his secretary, brother-in-law and several friends and associates.

The information is presented in a very frank and accessible manner, without a lot of protocol and formality, because the tests were being carried out by non-scientists who were just trying to be as diligent as possible. This in turn makes for easy reading by the layman.

Chapter 21 is a verbatim account by Sinclair's wife (whom he calls by her middle name, Craig). It is both a handbook of her methodologies and a fascinating insight into the way she theorizes the workings of the mind. This is very useful information for anyone wanting a "how to" for remote viewing or telepathic research and is a very simple sequence of instructions. Of course a great deal of practice would be necessary to achieve the necessary level of concentration required. But at least one can have a distinct roadmap to follow as opposed to a lot of vague references.

Author Upton Sinclair is ledgend. What is more complementary to the great authors saga is his soul mate and life's companion, wife Mary. A certain risk in Sinclair's time was the issue of "the occult". Even polite discussion or any association to the subject labeled it's members as outsiders or worse. So is the bravery and love that Upton and Mary Sinclair bring to the reader in enlightenment and discovery. That the "subject" of telepathy and precognitive ability is based intimatly between man and wife, it unfolds in a love story, bringing us closer to the heart and our minds deepest of mystery's. "Mental Radio" is a book of wonderment and love. The reader takes a glimpse into a couples quest to bring understanding to our lives and their discoverys. Right-wing talk radio hate monger Michael Savage is exposed in this excellently written book by Bill Bowman. Mr. Bowman tells how Savage changes the truth around and spews his hateful diatribe against Liberal Democrats, women and gays just to get his point across. It's a good thing to know that there are other talk radio programmes that does not have to lie to inform listeners. Savage Lies may just be the first book to combat Michael Savage's conservative garbage. I tip my hat to Mr. Bowman.

Mr. Bowman has done the country a great service by deconstructing the deceitful arguments of Michael Savage. On top of all the misinformation, Savage is also training his emotionally vulnerable audience in how to carry a consistently combative, denegrating attitude towards various enemies of America's military industrial state.
A nation as psychotically violent as ours (having exterminated the indigenous population and murdered millions in Indochina, Central America, the Middle East, East Timor, Angola and beyond) needs figures like Savage to advance its crusade to expand markets, exploit labor and steal the resources of defenseless people of the Global South. The military and corporate functionaries (little Eichmanns) who help to make this injustice happen, generation after generation, need to hear comforting illusions from various "perception managers" who will make them feel good about their savagery Necessary Illusions: Thought Control in Democratic Societies.
Edward Bernays, a pioneer in the field of public relations (whose work Joseph Goebbels utilized during the Nazi's period of savagery), was quite honest about his profession's efforts to colonize minds. Bernays, a nephew of Sigmund Freud's, said, "If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, it is now possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing it."

Fortunately, as with every effort to oppress people, physically or mentally, there is resistance. The U.S. does have some good media offerings among public radio (particularly their program "The World" which respects the people and cultures that Savage attacks), and also community and college radio stations that air informative programs like "Democracy Now!" with Amy Goodman and "Alternative Radio" with David Barsamian.

Lastly, there are countless people creating, buying, sharing and selling progressive magazines, DVDs and books to counter the "Savage Lies" of Michael and so many other right-wing media personalities.

I'd like to see Bowman network with various media efforts. The people who publish "Extra!" would appreciate his work. Extra! - the Newsletter of Fair He could even call into programs like Bob Kincaid's and further expose the sort of deceptions that Savage cranks out on the public's airwaves.
I don't know how Michael can look himself in the mirror.

This is a good start. Bowman refutes the untruths in Savage's writings. He'd need dozens of volumes to handle the lies on the radio shows. I'm glad someone is doing God's work and not letting a demagogue get away with spouting any garbage that comes to mind, and ditto and dumbo heads will follow along mindlessly.

writing from detractors such as GLAAD, and the various sucks sites. Making Do-It-Yourself
T-Shirts on Cafepress is one thing, but if your writing isn't good enough to be published professionally,
for pete sake, save some trees and post your gripes on the net...
