I am in the process of finding different employment. After searching for help on Amazon.Com, I came across the book "Knock Three Times". I ordered the book and received it in short order. Since then, I have used the techniques mentioned. So far, I've had two interviews and expect to hear from a third source, after I call them!

The book has some great common sense approaches and is full of good advice. The CD is convenient to pop into the car player on the way to the job interview as a review.

Thanks Mr. McCormick for your suggestions. My confidence level is soaring because of them.

Excellent Job Seekers Resource.......2002-07-16

I began using Knock 3 Times as a resource during my search for a new job upon completion of graduate school. The tools provided by this book were presented in a clear, concise, easy to understand format, that took me step by step through the search process. It provides a complete strategy that guarantees that the job seeker will be granted an interview in 30 days as well as tips for succeeding in the interview.

Prior to using this book, my job search was disorganized and sporadic in its focus and I was having little luck in even gaining an interview. This book assisted me in developing a strategic approach to my job search, ensuring that I focused on the right opportunities and maximized my efforts on the most promising positions. Since utilizing this tool, I have been offered greater opportunities and more interviews.

Great textbook.......2001-03-01

This is an excellent book for learning fundemental solid state ideas. Basic power supply and amplifier circuits are presented in a easy to learn manner as well. Also a great reference for the electrical engineer/electronic technician.

An all American boy.......2006-11-09

In his short life, Jack Cole, a hick from New Castle, Pa., managed to find himself at the center of three of the premiere cultural events of the 20th century.
As a youngster just before World War II, he developed the goofy, idiosyncratic Plastic Man comic character, which remains among the most admired strips of the Golden Age of pulp, though Cole drew his last Plas in 1950.
About then, too, a single panel of Cole's in another comic, True Crime, became the prime exhibit in one of the McCarthyite Congress's more ridiculous crusades, the one that said comix were sending our youth to hell. This brought the Golden Age of comix and the Linoleum Age of Congress to an end.
After that, Cole -- now using a completely different medium (water color) and style -- became the signature artist of the new Playboy magazine.
And not long after that, he shot himself, for reasons none of his friends could quite guess.
Art Spiegelman, who brought comix to their highest peak of respectability (at least in the eyes of people who never read comix) with his "Maus" comix about the Holocaust, wrote a sensitive and complex appreciation of Cole and Plas in The New Yorker in 1999, and that text is reprinted here, along with a generous selection of Cole's output.
This includes several adventures of Plas and his sidekick Woozy Winks, which rival Fontaine Fox's Toonerville Trolley strips, if not quite George Herriman's Krazy Kat, in wackiness; as well as Congress' favorite panel (a hypodermic needle aimed at a woman's eye) and the rest of that whole episode, "Murder, Morphine and Me."
"Murder, Morphine and Me" is no raunchier than the TV ads placed by the National Institutes of Mental Health ("This is your brain on drugs") nowadays, but Cole was always before his time.
Cole represented that nose-thumbing, razzberry-blowing strain of sez-who? Americanism that has just about been stamped out today, when we need it badly. If not the greatest, he was perhaps the most characteristic American limner of his generation.
This collection was designed by Chip Kidd, in a sort of paper version of MTV film editing. Plas, always frenetic, holds up very well to this kind of contemporary treatment.
A hero for the ages.

Jack Cole the real Plastic Man.......2003-11-04

Biographies of comic creators are few and far apart. This by a short reach is the best of the lot. It contains all the stories we have heard about Cole (his bike trip across America, his Playboy years, his mysterous suicide).

Interlaced through are reprints of some of his best works. What I liked was that the comics within seem to be reproduced from the originals, yellowing and all. If anything it added to my pleasure instead of took away from it.

For fans of comic history or tragic artists this is the one book that must be on your shelf. See Jack Cole stretch his mind as far as Plastic Man stretched his body.

Cole Mine.......2003-02-14

Jack Cole is better served by this fairly strange book than many other great cartoonists of the golden age of the medium have been in print. Spiegelman's somewhat sparse text is full of useful information and valid critique, but he wisely lets the material speak for itself, and that's the main attraction here, though those words and the book's design seem to have distracted some readers. This is not an anthology of "Plastic Man"- that can be found elsewhere, fortunately- nor is it an in-depth biography of Jack Cole. It's more like a large catalogue for an exhibition, covering all aspects of his varied career. Material seems to be reproduced from original art in a few cases- mainly his Playboy stuff- but the comic book stories are shot from original issues, with four-color separation and page-yellowing quite evident- and speaking as a sometimes-comic artist, that's close to the way I think they should be seen (I HATE modern re-coloring, and especially airbrushes!). And as for the book's unconventional design.....I like it. (Would've preferred a hardcover, though!)

Not to stretch a point, but..........2002-08-09

I've bought and read many, many books dealing with comics history, and this volume is one that proudly sits with the rest of the collection! If you have even the slightest interest in the Golden Age of Comics, Jack Cole or Plastic Man, you definitely owe it to yourself to get this book (and Amazon's offering it cheaper than I got my copy!). There are several complete Plas stories included in this book, making it worth the price by itself, but the retrospective of Jack Cole's career also makes for fascinating reading. I couldn't put it down, read the thing in one sitting!

Draft Portrait of the Artist.......2002-06-26

This biography/retrospective of cartoonist Jack Cole is certainly eye-catching with its chaotic design, popping full-bleed artwork, rounded corners, and varying paper stock, but as a portrait of the artist it never really amounts to more than a draft sketch. Spiegelman's text is slightly expanded from an article he wrote in 1999 for The New Yorker, and while it's a fairly decent biographical sketch of Cole's life and career as creator of Plastic Man, Playboy illustrator, and syndicated cartoonist, it never does more than skim the surface. Most indicative of this is the skimpy treatment Cole's unexpected and unexplained suicide is accorded. It's clear that Spiegelman (creator of the acclaimed Maus) loves Cole's work, but other than some generic plaudits that could apply to a number of cartoonists, it's never really clear why he considers Cole a genius (or for that matter, why the reader should).

A graphic tribute it's more successful, combining reproductions of complete strips and stories (including the True Crime Comics classic "Murder, Morphine, and Me"), pieces from Playboy, family photos, unpublished sketches, covers, and collages. Some people are bound to hate renowned book designer Kidd's treatment of the material (and indeed, some of the text is a strain to read), but it seems wholly suitable to Cole's own frantic graphic style from the Plastic Man series. In the end, the book is unlikely to appeal to those outside the world of comics.

A MAN OF VISION.......2005-07-24

Albert R. Broccoli's impressive contribution to the cinema by bringing Ian Fleming's James Bond to the screen from DR. NO up to GOLDENEYE is truly undeniable. He was a great innovator and a survivor thanks to his own abilities to see a vision to its fruition. He had tremendous support from his family, associates and friends along the way. He created this great entourage of love and affection by just being who he was and nothing more. His humanitarianism and magnetic personality cannot be denied. I found this book to be both insightful and moving and remains a glowing tribute for all those who were touched by his vision.

A Roller Coaster Ride Indeed!.......2000-04-09

The promotion poster for this wonderful autobiography of Cubby Broccoli describes it as "A roller-coaster ride throught the life of one of Hollywood's best-loved film producers," and it couldn't be more right. I admit it may be a tad boring if you have no interest in the James Bond films or their creators, but if you do, you will find this book to be a fascinating look at the life of the producer who spent almost 30 years of his life creating the most successful film series in history. The book begins by describing the immigrant experience of his family and continues to chart a real-life example of the American Dream in action -- the story of a poor broccoli farmer from New York who grew up to receive the Thalberg Award and have his name inscribed on a star in Hollywood. In this book, Broccoli also tells fascinating insider stories about such hollywood greats as Howard Hughes and Victor Mature, which will interest even those who could care less about Bond. I dock the book a star only because of the long, boring passages toward the end (written by Donald Zec, I think)regarding the numerous takeovers of United Artists and Broccoli's efforts to keep the company in good hands (ever wonder why there were no Bond movies produced between '89 and '95?). Other than these passages, however, I have found that "When the Snow Melts" is the only autobiography I haven't been able to put down!

Computer security is a crucial aspect of modern information management, and one of the latest buzzwords is incident response--detecting and reacting to security breaches. Computer Forensics offers information professionals a disciplined approach to implementing a comprehensive incident-response plan, with a focus on being able to detect intruders, discover what damage they did, and hopefully find out who they are.

There is little doubt that the authors are serious about cyberinvestigation. They advise companies to "treat every case like it will end up in court," and although this sounds extreme, it is good advice. Upon detecting a malicious attack on a system, many system administrators react instinctively. This often involves fixing the problem with minimal downtime, then providing the necessary incremental security to protect against an identical attack. The authors warn that this approach often contaminates evidence and makes it difficult to track the perpetrator. This book describes how to maximize system uptime while protecting the integrity of the "crime scene."

The bulk of Computer Forensics details the technical skills required to become an effective electronic sleuth, with an emphasis on providing a well-documented basis for a criminal investigation. The key to success is becoming a "white hat" hacker in order to combat the criminal "black hat" hackers. The message is clear: if you're not smart enough to break into someone else's system, you're probably not smart enough to catch someone breaking into your system. In this vein, the authors use a number of technical examples and encourage the readers to develop expertise in Unix/Linux and Windows NT fundamentals. They also provide an overview of a number of third-party tools, many of which can be used for both tracking hackers and to probe your own systems.

The authors explain their investigative techniques via a number of real-world anecdotes. It is striking that many of the same hacks detailed in Cliff Stoll's classic The Cuckoo's Egg are still in use over 10 years later--both on the criminal and investigative fronts. It is up to individual companies whether or not to pursue each attempted security violation as a potential criminal case, but Computer Forensics provides a strong argument to consider doing so. --Pete Ostenson

Computer Forensics.......2007-05-21

This book is good for those not familiar computers. It keeps the material at a high level for the layman. Do not purchase if you are intending to receive in depth, technical analysis and techniques for training as a professional investigator. If you are just trying to gain an overview of the topic, this book should fulfill your requirements. It does a good job of directing the reader to appropriate external resources and tools to perform the forensic tasks the book discusses.

Great for general computer forensics information.......2005-03-03

Computer Forensics, Incident Response Essentials, is a great book for two groups of people:

1) All computer forensics investigators looking for a better description of the process of collecting and analyzing
data. The book provides great descriptions of the methods for maintaining chain of custody and storage. This is done through the use of example forms and scenarios. Since evidence handling principles are easily overlooked, this book seeks to provide pragmatic techniques for proper evidence preservation.

2) Someone interesting in learning what computer forensics is about. This book is great at providing a high-level description of what computer forensics is used for and how it works. The book does not go into intricate detail on any one software package. Instead, it provides you with a great overview description of numerous software packages and tools. By doing this, the reader can attain a better understanding of what value computer forensics can provide. Since the field is relatively new, it is important for people to understand what computer forensics is capable of.

I highly recommend this book if you are just getting into the field, or if you are tired of reading books that continually tout Encase as the only solution. This book is a critical addition to any computer forensic investigators library.

Good Introduction to Computer Forensics Investigations.......2005-02-06

This book is a couple years old now, but the fundamentals remain essentially the same. Kruse and Heiser are seasoned experts in computer forensics and incident response and they have managed to boil down years of knowledge and experience into a format that is easy to read and understand. While security experts may not learn anything new from this book, those entering the field will find it invaluable. It is comprehensive and detailed while remaining easy to read. The foundation provided by reading and understanding this book can be used to move forward into more technical areas. Computer Forensics is not fluff by any means though and could easily be kept nearby as a handy reference for a computer forensic investigation.

Ce livre présente dans un langage très clair l'essentiel de la recherche de preuves numériques. La couverture est d'ailleurs très représentative du contenu, les sciences forensiques, et en particulier celles relatives aux ordinateurs prenant une importance de plus en plus grande .

Les lecteurs trouveront dans le Guide du Cyberdétective paru aux Editions Chiron des applications pratiques de ces investigations dans la vie courante. Les deux ouvrages se complètent, bien que le dernier n'existe pour l'instant qu'en Français.
