Few books that I have read put it all together as well as "Mentally Tough." I saw it in the used book pile for just 18 cents. That would be the best money you ever spent. Forget all the exercise, diet and other self-help books. Take a look at this one. I find myself, after reading many similar books, coming back to "Mentally Tough."

I attended a workshop by the author and read his book following the seminar. Both focused on the fact that one must have balance in ones life to be successful. It pointed out that to be mentally tough you must also work on physical fitness. As a result, I lost over 20lbs., ran a marathon, have more time and energy to accomplish more in my life than I ever have. This program is realistic and attainable for the busiest person.

It outlines a detailed strategy for adjusting your body chemistry through a combination of diet, exercise, and laughter. I've just finished a weight-loss diet that dropped me 20 pounds to my ideal weight. Now I am going on the mentally tough program to maintain myself at peak performance

Volume 4 in this research series contains nine papers. Following the tradition of the earlier volumes, it is similar in style to the first three volumes and illustrates ongoing research thrusts on a variety of financial economics issues that are germane to working capital management. The papers have been logically divided into three parts.
The first part of the volume focuses on the issues covering short-term interest rates, short-term financial management, and a cash balance model. Part two contains papers that examine the issue of trade credit analysis under a competitive pricing situation and an environment in which the level of sales fluctuates. Finally Part 3 departs from the traditional discussions on working capital management in that it explores dividend payouts and tax environment changes as a source of concern to treasury (and financial) managers.
This fourth volume presents a rich variety of papers that address an expanding facet of working capital management. It is hoped that the papers are found to be informative and act to stimulate research and practice in the area of treasury/financial management.

Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation, by D. R. Petersen, is a Young-Earth Creationist (YEC) interpretation of modern science. I reviewed this book when it found its way into my son's science classroom, at a Christian middle school. Yikes!!! It took me 15 single-spaced pages to document the errors that Petersen made in his first 60 pages, and his book is full of pictures. Seriously, this book has absolutely no place in a science classroom!
The scientific arguments that Petersen presents generally demonstrate one or more of the following problems: A lack of understanding of the appropriate science, careful filtering of the data so that it support his YEC claims, Misinterpretation of data, fabrication of data, or failure to consider alternative interpretations. It's no wonder that Answers in Genesis, a well-known YEC organization, does not support this book.
Throughout the book, Petersen seems to invent both Biblical concepts and pseudo-scientific ideas to support them. I have no problem interpreting the Bible in light of scientific knowledge. There are lots of places in the Bible where science gives us insight into the literal meaning of a passage. But Petersen is inventing science to fit an interpretation of the Bible which he insists is the correct one, excluding all other possible interpretations. A good example of this is the entire "flood science." The Bible doesn't say anything about how various geological layers were formed; consequently, no viewpoint can claim to be the correct Christian perspective.
I'd steer clear of this book.

If you're looking for science and objective analysis, don't look here.
I'm a Christian and believer but people like Petersen and other Creationists simply aren't facing reality and end up asking the rest of us to do likewise. Dedicated and objective scientists have nothing to gain by trying to pull the wool over anybody's eyes. Yet Petersen and Creationists in general continue to denigrate and belittle all evolutionists simply because these scientists have arrived at an unacceptable but entirely objective conclusion regarding man's origins and connections to other life on earth.
But why haven't Creationists questioned the validity of conclusions reached by scientists in other fields completely unrelated to evolution? Why haven't they questioned the atomic theory which constitutes the central doctrine of chemistry and nuclear physics? Why haven't Creationists challenged the findings of astonomers that probe the mysteries of deep space or the observations of physicists that investigate matters such as sound and light transmission or the mechanical priciples set down by Isaac Newton that make it possible for us to accurately predict the trjectories of planets and our own man-made satellites? The answers to these questions lie in the nature of the subject matter of biological evolution. It's simply unacceptable and unpalatable for Creationists to embrace a concept like evolution that uses facts and objective evidence to arrive at the conclusion that the advent of the human species here on earth is no different and no more miraculous than the appearance of a type of bear or redwood tree, irrespective of the immense and diverse body of evidence in support of that notion.

This may be the best book on the topic of creation I have ever seen. It is clear, concise, and beautifully illustrated. Perfect for a 'beginner' in the evolution/creation controvery or for someone who just wants to read a great book.

This book is the best bet for anyone from the new beginner to the old hand as it bring a lot to the table for anyone no matter how much you think you already know. Great photos and lots of them after doing and reviewing this book you should be able to do almost anything with nothing at all. Yes I did like it. Even though I own a machine shop I still at times skim through this book to remind me of how much I forget. good luck ALL dray
Basic operation of a Bridgeport covered.......2000-09-27
This book is well written and covers the basics of operating a Bridgeport style knee mill. However, you will still need a factory manual in order to handle maintenance on the machine so some of the material is redundant. Also, other topics are more thoroughly covered in other books.

Six years after Mark Twain's death, Albert Bigelow Paine, the author's literary executor, brought out a bowdlerized edition of The Mysterious Stranger, which he patched together from Mark Twain's three unfinished manuscripts, produced, Paine asserted, during a period of supposed creative paralysis. Scholars have since discovered that Paine's edition of the book was largely based on the earliest of those three versions, onto which Paine then grafted the final chapter of the last version. Indeed, Paine changed so many of the book's essentials that it cannot be said to accurately reflect the author's mood and thought at all.
Gibson's volume, first published in 1969 and now back in print, presented the manuscripts for the first time exactly as Mark Twain wrote them. Here the reader is offered a glimpse of Mark Twain's creative process on what many critics consider the finest fiction of his later years. While the work was begun in 1897 and revised first in 1902 and then in 1908, the third version was the only manuscript actually titled The Mysterious Stranger. These texts provide a rare opportunity to observe Mark Twain's sustained literary struggle with a central theme.

I must first of all confess that, since reading Huck Finn as a kid, this is the only Twain I've read. I must also confess that the nearest comparison I can give for this book is the writings of William Burroughs!
In his last years Twain several times approached the idea of a story about a mysterious, "satanic" figure who appears to a small community and brings about an anti-religious revelation. This book contains his three attempts, thankfully free of the posthumous bowdlerisation that marred its previous publication.
The middle section is most like "classic" Twain, a semi-comic episode set in the familiar time and territory of Tom Sawyer. The "bookends", however, are set in a vaguely medieval middle-Europe and have a somewhat Gothic atmosphere. The first section is the most scathing, while the last is more like a dream.
The effect of these three substantial fragments being presented together is a remarkable insight into the creative processes of an extraordinarily imaginative mind. This breaking beyond narrative and into the writer's consciousness is the reason I draw the comparison with Burroughs. The result was never meant to be published as is, but nonetheless it is a challenging and haunting work, which provides a unique insight into the writer's mind.
