Very Inspiring!.......2005-07-16

This book supplies you with the tools for an effective reflective life. It is holistic in helping you to see the necessity of balancing all the myriad aspects which overlap and compete for resources. One particularly helpful feature is the series of questions he has about one's past, present, and future.

A substantial part of the book deals with perception. How one interprets circumstances is vital to achieving goals. Another topic addressed in depth is balancing money and relationships. On the issue of financial stewardship he includes both saving and giving. In a similar way, he discusses how maturity includes a holistic and comprehensive approach to handling long term financial considerations, including preparing for loved ones after one's death. My own parents are excellent role models for this, just as his, based on what he says in this book. Along those lines, I want to have the goals similar to what he implies for himself. I want to leave a complete legacy for my children, including financial, spiritual, and social.

This book will not produce shallow worldly results!.......1998-06-25

This book is probably in contrast to the "Seven Habits" book because this book is desiring to give a person "Biblical Spiritual Truths" which are so often in contrast to what the "world" is trying to sell you. This is NOT a "get rich quick" book and if that is all you are after, you will indeed be disapointed. But if instead you are tired of the "rat race" to get to the top, find out how to truly get to the TOP!!

I expected this book to provide guidance on achieving ever-increasing career success without impeding one's marital harmony. In that sense, I felt like I wasted my money on this book. A much better choice would be Stephen Covey's Seven Habits. Arterburn talks too much about himself and doesn't tie it into how the average person could use the techniques. It's a great title, but the book doesn't deliver

Disappointment.......2006-10-10

I have just received this book and had a look at. It is not what I had expected before buying. The author shows excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and does not care about explanations where he takes formulas from. There is very little about the underground Real Options technology. There is almost nothing about "Financial Models" themselves - just how to make calculations using ready to use formulas and Excel.
In my opinion it is not a big deal to use Excel when you know formulas.
What I was really after by buying this book was how to build mathematical models in finance, what kind of numerical methods they use and how they use Excel for getting results. I still believe that Excel is not the best tool for resolving systems of differential equations using numerical methods (Particularly big systems).
I myself am a Russian rocket scientist who has spent more the 15 years in building mathematical models in mechanical engineering. To my surprise differential equations that they use in finance are same type as we have used in mechanical engineering. Now I live in New Zealand and I am trying to enter finance world by building math models in this area. I decided to introduce myself for proving that I know the subject that I am talking about
I am sorry but this book is waste of money- at least for me.

Completely useless !.......2005-12-22

The example files were not included in the CD-Rom and the trial software expires in 10 days. Not enough time to go through a fraction of the material. Don't waste your time with this book.

Very interesting details and perspectives on violence and kinship obligations to assist and avenge feuds. The flexibility of relationships might help Westerners get a better understanding of campaigns against the Moros in the Southern Philippines, particularly in light of the current security concerns with the Abu Sayaf Group, who are Tausug.

A fantastic adventure in the XIX Century.......2000-06-22

Julio Verne muestra en este excelente libro su capacidad para la anticipación y su exactitud y rigor científico. Verne investigo cuidadosamente antes de emprender esta obra, y a pesar que la misma cuenta con algunos errores (por ejemplo, la tripulación parte a la Luna en una gigantesca bala de cañón, lo cual mataria instantáneamente a los tripulantes debido a la aceleración) pero en suma es una obra interesante y de agradable lectura, con pasajes divertidos y un gran desenlace. Verne también se adelanto a su tiempo y de alguna manera predijo algunos de los eventos que se harían realidad muchosaños mas tarde. Por ejemplo, Verne pronosticó que su nave espacial sería lanzada desde la Florida (USA) cuando en realidad el vuelo del Apollo 11 salio de este mismo estado (Verne predijo Tampa, y en realidad salió desde en Centro Espacial Kennedy en Merritt Island). Además el predijo tres astronautas, dos norte-americanos y uno europeo (en la realidad hubo 3 norteamericanos, pero Collins nació en Italia, o sea que acertó!) el hecho que la capsula descendiera en el agua etc,etc. Estos y muchas otras coincidencias nos muestran la increible visión de este hombre, que junto con 20,000 Leguas de Viaje Submarino o La Vuelta al Mundo en 80 Dias,o Dueño del Mundo se adelanta a su tiempo y es fiel reflejo de una época de invenciones y esperanza en la inventiva humana.Para finalizar lo recomiendo ampliamente a los amantes de los viajes espaciales, no olviden que Konstantin Tsiolkovski y otros pioneros se inspiraron en los libros de Verne para definir el futuro del espacio.-

Father Ernesto Cardenal in fact recalls RUgama's most brilliant line of poetry, said the most beautiful of all of Nicaragu's fluent and prolific poetry, his last words. When demanded by the violent Somozan NAtional Guard in January 1970 to surrender, he shouted, "Que se rinda tu madre." Needless to say, his failure to surrender brought about his early martyrdom for freedom.

This brilliant volume, a rare jewel rescued from the obscure profundities of this rich amazon, collects his poetry and stories, plus some biographical notes. Included is the obligatory ode to Che, incorporating the stirring words: Nuestra causa triunfara porque es la causa de la justicia porque es la causa del amor.

First published clandestinely under the US backed Somozan dictatorship by Ediciones Taller in Leon in 1978, later in HAvana Cuba by the great publishing house Casas de la Americas in 1983, it was finally published in its third and fourth editions by the newly liberated Editorial Nueva NIcaragua in 1983 and 1984. We are so fortunate to rediscover it now in amazon. Please, should another copy come available, do not hesitate for a second to snatch it from the fast moving amazon, lest it be lost forever, lest I buy another copy, one to read and one to enshrine.

Representative of the mighty, courageous and revolutionary literature written under the brutal and deadly Somozan dictatorship, the words which stirred a nation and a people to courage and to the hard struggle for freedom and self-determination.

Again quoting from the poem to Che: Yo me hare morir con los pocos que me acompanan porque es preferible hacernos morir como rebeldes y no vivir como esclavos., sentiments which reflect the immortal words of Emiliano Zapata (q.v.)
