This is an excellent program that provides a systematic approach that real people can use to overcome the emotional baggage associated with job loss. When someone does not find a way to deal with the emotions that accompany job loss -- anger, confusion, and feeling like a victim - those emotions come involuntarily 'screaming through' in every one of their employment interviews. What the candidate ends up projecting, then, is the demeanor of an angry, resentful person -- not the kind of person they are and want to be! I make that statement as a human resources professional who has interviewed thousands of people in a career that has spanned over twenty-five years.

While using guided imagery and visualization approaches may be new ground for many people - I recommend it because it really does work.

You might find a book or other materials that look a little slicker, but if what you are looking for is results - I highly recommend this workbook and CD!

From the supplier: The state of immigrant workers and the reform of the immigration law in 1989 in Japan is presented. The reform sought to disallow unskilled foreign labor yet there are five groups of cheap and foreign unskilled labor in Japan. These are Nikkeijin, company trainees, students of Japanese language schools and illegal workers who have expired visas. The Japanese government should recognize that the country is open to foreign workers which solve the chronic labor problem and should recognize its responsibilities as an economic giant in an inter-racial and multicultural world.

Mediocre toilet-time reading.......2006-03-14

I started off with high hopes for this book. The pictures were funny and the title promising. I had just finished "Food Court Druids, Cherohonkees and Other Creatures Unique to the Republic" and was in the mood for more character sketches. As for this book, it has its moments, but overall is very dry. The observations are obvious. There are few witty remarks or stinging barbs. It's just not very funny.

I would have to recommend the title cited earlier over this one.

Lighten Up, People.......2004-09-25

I just picked up this book at the little gift book table at my bookstore. Yes, it's sort of obvious, but come one...it's a book of little character sketches about the office. It's a gift book! It costs $10 and you put it on the back of your tiolet and flip through it once in a while! Lighten up, or write something better if it's really bothering you that much. It sounds like there's someone out there with a personal agenda to write these kind of reviews. I see them all over amazon. What's the point? Either contribute to the culture yourself, or just shut up about it, put the book down, and read something else.

By the way, I've never met this author or any of his friends. I did hear him on the radio recently, though, and he sounded like a nice enough guy.

The book is funny. Dont' let the crybabies ruin it for you.

don't worry about the depressive from Wicker Park. take it from someone who's been stuck in a million dead-end jobs: this book is funny. yeah, it's not Joyce, but as far as humor books go, it's well worth the 9 bucks. not only is that 1-star review way off base, the "amazingly incompetent coworker" doesn't appear anywhere in my copy of this book. by the way, can there be anywhere more depressing to live than a place called "Wicker Park"? sounds worse than my office.

Perplexed by how this book got published. I picked it up on a whim without reading it as a gift for a friend who is disgruntled at her work office. What a mistake. It is really cliché. I assume it is supposed to be funny but it is completely lacking in inspiration. The names that the author comes up with to classify people are strangely literal like "the amazingly incompetent coworker." I recommend passing on this book. I ended up not giving it to my friend. I would have been too embarrassed

A guilty pleasure of a book........2001-06-30

This book's purpose, as stated in its Introduction: "...the writer has to share internal struggles, sometimes embarrassing predilections...in order to define the merits of a piece of moviemaking which most people have either forgotten or else dismiss as utter trash. Thus, writing about one's cinematic guilty pleasure takes intricate self-analysis heaped upon piles of courage."

In this book, Midnight Marquee Press presents fourteen "guilty" films, with evidence presented in their favor, by MMP's roster of talented writers.

The writers certainly are daring. Who would have guessed that anyone would (or could) defend 1976's King Kong? Or Chaney Jr.'s Indestructible Man and Lugosi's Voodoo Man? Not this reviewer. But they do, among others, and admirably.

Most entries are well written, interesting, and informative. Given that, it brings me to a problem I have with the book: There is no one common style to the chapters. In some, we are given little more than lengthy synopses. (A warning to those who haven't seen some of the films discussed within: endings are revealed.) Others give a production history or a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the author's guilty pleasure (the chapter on When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth, is a lengthy, but fascinating example). Still others start out focused on the film at hand, and then go off-point. The chapter on Scared Stiff gives us more a history of the teaming of Jerry Lewis/Dean Martin than it discusses the titled film.

Individually, one admires each author's work. Put together, however, the book's disparate style causes a lack of cohesiveness that I feel is to the book's detriment. Each chapter has a definite feel of "sticking out", of being an individual/independent unit, rather than meshing seamlessly, one into another. But perhaps that is an somewhat unfair criticism, for I certainly recognize that creativity demands that authors not have to follow a rigid formula. Still...

Additionally, a disappointment of the book for me is the fact that while most authors do present compelling evidence in favor of their chosen film, many do so in an objective "here's a reason why the film is good" kind of way. Missing are the more subjective reasons, the personal anecdotes and "...intricate self-analysis heaped upon piles of courage." that I was looking for. The fun spirit of the book's Introduction (especially the snippet quoted above) is either sadly missing, or given short shrift in many of the chapters. One wishes for more reminiscences and less plot summaries.

Given those complaints, this is still a very fun book. It allowed this reader to recapture some wonderful memories of watching and enjoying films not seen in many a day, despite their many and very obvious faults. In the end, the book is recommended, for the pleasure derived (and the knowledge gained) from reading it far outweighs the above-mentioned quibbles

Like its antecedent volume, Son of Guilty Pleasures profiles movies we are not "supposed" to like, films that are many times genre or exploitation fare or movies that have disappointed critics. Well, no need for guilt here, as this book points out reasons these films should be savored. Svehla doesn't gloss over the film's deficiencies, but he does champion their value with verve and imagination. Many of the films profiled are the often derided 1950's SF or monster movies. There's both fun tidbits and fresh insight into these celluloid time machines. You won't go wrong buying this one.

A Guilty Pleasure!.......2000-08-23

This volume has a noted emphasis on the low budget horror and science fiction films of the fifties and sixties, though others are included. I enjoyed the chapters on lesser known films such as "Invasion USA", which are as well discussed as the better known movies like "Omega Man". Each chapter reviews a different movie, and all are well written and liberally illustrated. This book could be considered a "Guilty Pleasure" for those interested in horror and science fiction cinema.

Call me superstitious, but I swear that these dice are magical. Always rolling 7+ for me. The felt bag with the Exalted compass really compliments the feel for the game as well. A welcomed addition to my gaming circle!

What can I say, it's a dice set?

Here's what I can say: It comes in a nice felt bag, which is great for newbies w/o a bag or veterans like myself who like to keep their dice separated by sides or systems. I'd say that the color scheme and overall construction quality is on par with Chessex. I own two sets, and pretty much everyone in my old RPG circle has followed my example and bought at least one set each.

Tip: if you play Exalted, you'll probably want to buy 2 or more sets of these dice, since you'll be rolling 10-20 dice per action depending on how specialized your characters are.

I wish that all the books dealing with IT were written like this one. Ed Bott really explains everything in a very,very clear way.Without dumbing it down or assuming that you already know everything,like other writers...Most of the time when I read a book about Windows I get sleepy after a while.Not with this one.His books(like the one about Outlook)keep you interested.On top you will find sometimes information that you will not find in any other book.After reading several of his books I have no problem buying his next one,about Vista or whatever without even seeing it before.

Best book on XP Networking & IIS issues.......2007-07-03

If you want to run your own webserver & use XP's IIS as your webserver software, this is the book to help you with IIS setup and security issues. I don't understand why MS didn't have Curt Simmons do the later updated version - he's such a clear writer. This book explains even difficult concepts clearly and simply with very clear examples. Highly recommended.
