Exceptional compendium of degree and certificate programs.......2000-05-03
This comprehensive directory is an excellent source for those looking to enter the field of alternative or complementary medicine. In a market with such tremendous growth and clutter, there is a viable need for a resource such as this to sort through what is available nationally. The book includes: a reader-friendly section defining all terms and fields associated with the industry, how to choose a program, what programs are available sorted by location, the top schools and programs, accrediation information, professional organizations, and self-study resources. The only piece missing was an updated version. Hence, that is on its way to being published in September of 2000. After months of research, this is by far the best directory I have encountered.

Book Description
The first-ever collection from the archives of the legendary Chairman of the Board, filled with never-before-seen photos, letters, mementos, and more.
What is a legend? A legend is a man who, more than 65 years after stepping on stage for the first time, is still larger than life. A man who changed the way we wear our hats. A man possessed not of a voice, but The Voice. Frank Sinatra is a legend.
Created in conjunction with the Frank Sinatra Estate, THE SINATRA TREASURES tells the story of Sinatras life with rare and never-before-published quotes from those he loved and those he worked with--and from the Chairman of the Board himself. More than 200 black-and-white and full-color images from several Sinatra archives, as well as 30 removable facsimile reproductions of items, such as a script from one of his radio shows and a Sinatra family photo album, provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Sinatras world and talent. Also included is a new compilation CD of rare interviews, early radio appearances, and songs.
This celebration of the many elements of Frank Sinatra--as singer, as actor, as humanitarian, as friend--brings to life as never before the man who made the standards standard.

Long time Sinatra Fan.......2007-08-11
This is probably one of the most complete selections I have ever seen. Having been a Sinatra fan since the late 1940s, I have a lot of very fond memories of seeing him in person, first with the TD band, personal concerts, Old Gold Radio Show, and Your Hit Parade Radio show, plus many personal appearances in the Los Angeles area and Las Vegas. This book complements my own collection of Sinatra memorabelia. It's nice to read an authorized book about the kind of person he really was.
The ultimate Sinatra book.......2007-06-10
Frank Sinatra was, in my opinion, the greatest entertainer of all time. I collect Sinatra recordings and books, and "The Sinatra Treasures" is probably the best Sinatra compilation I've ever seen. In addition to numerous interviews, Sinatra quotes and hundreds of rare photos, it also contains a collection of various Sinatra memorabilia pocketed throughout the book. There's a photo album of pictures from Sinatra early in his career, ticket stubs, a radio script, reproductions of programs from two presidential inaugurations that Sinatra performed at, and much more. There's also an audio CD containing clips from Sinatra interviews, radio appearances, monologues and a few rare recordings, including the version of "High Hopes" used to promote John Kennedy's presidential campaign.
This wonderful collection of Sinatra material sheds light on the numerous aspects of Frank's life as a performer, father and friend. All Sinatra fans should own a copy of this book. (When it was first released, the book retailed for about $75, so the current price is a real bargain. Snatch up your copies while you can!)
Essential for every Sinatra fan.......2007-03-19
I couldn't believe when I stumbled upon this page that nobody had written a review yet! So I thought I would just add a few words of encouragement for anyone debating whether or not to order this book.
First of all, this book is more than a book. It contains a cd with some never before released songs and promos, pull-out dupicates of hand written letters, duplicates of photos from the Sinatra family albums, album covers of albums that were never produced, and so much more.
I purchased this book the week that it was released, for almost $50, and even at that price it was worth it. I see now that amazon is offering it for only $20! If I were you, I'd swoop up two! One to keep unopened, and one to open. It's that good of a book. If I had to recommend just one Sinatra book, I think this would be it. I like some others, like Nancy Sinatra's book, Tina Sinatra's book, and the DK book Sinatra, but this one is tops, especially because it contains so many rare items.
If you are a Sinatra fan, I whole heartedly recommend this book! Get one for you, and every other Sinatra lover in your family!
SINATRA TREASURES - A PERSONAL SCRAPBOOK.......2007-03-10
I bought this book as a gift for my husband, who is an avid lifelong fan of Frank. He loves it, and so do I. It makes one feel like part of the family.
A Joyful Afternoon with Frank Sinatra.......2006-09-01
Even if you are NOT a Sinatra fan you will truly enjoy "The Sinatra Treasures" written by Charles Pignone. The book is beautifully put together with page savers. When looking through the book, the cellophane envelopes holding the Sinatra mementos, make one feel as though one is going through a "family album", with fond memories of the various events throughout Mr. Sinatra's life. A marvelous "coffee table book", too, but you will pick it up and glance through the book and find yourself stopping to read the stories. This book was highly recommended to me and I pass that recommendation on to you.
Book Description
The concept of Halloween as a holiday and cultural phenomenon worthy of serious study is only a few decades old, and only since the mid-1980s have scholars started to accept that Halloween's place in modern society (especially in American society) merits attention beyond horror fiction and children's books. The first book devoted solely to Halloween was published just over a century ago, and now, Halloween has its own encyclopedia.
Major entries include Samhain, the Celtic ancestor of Halloween; witches, a major Christian addition to the mythology of Halloween and one that still generates interest and controversy; skeletons, a universally recognized symbol of death; the Day of the Dead, the Mexican holiday that is often compared to Halloween; the jack-o'-lantern, which has its roots in folktales starring the rascally Jack who always manages somehow to beat the Devil; and trick-or-treating, the most loved and misunderstood American Halloween ritual. Hundreds of small entries cover Halloween history and mythology, fortune-telling lore, harvest legends, and 20th century additions to the holiday's rituals.

A Sackful of Halloween Treats!.......2007-07-23
Like a bag filled with delicious treats on a full moon Hallow's Eve, The Halloween Encyclopedia is a cornucopia of delights. Open this book to any page and you will discover fascinating, intriguing, and downright fun facts, legends, stories, anecdotes, and frights.
Granted, this book is not a doctoral thesis that tries to reconcile and define the vast myriad of human Halloween culture. It is, rather, a fun romp through history and lore that serves to entertain and educate. I highly recommend this book as a resource for educators, parents, researchers, writers, and just plain people who want to enjoy their Halloween spirits... so to speak.
Interesting Book.......2007-07-23
I stumbled upon this book because I really love Halloween and was looking for something a little more than the standard kid's fare. I enjoyed how it was divided by the alphabet, which made digesting things a lot more fun. There's a lot in this book, not only that, but there were things I learned that I never thought of before, like where Scarecrows came from.
Of course, it's a bit on the expensive side, but I bit the bullet. I can pass it down to my son when he starts trick or treating and hopefully it will inspire him to dig deeper and we can celebrate Halloween for more than candy and masks.
No Halloween Stone Left Unturned!.......2007-07-23
Lisa Morton's THE HALLOWEEN ENCYCLOPEDIA is a stunning piece of non-fiction. I purchased the book as a means to educate myself toward the purpose of writing accurate fiction. Previous attempts to glean facts from 'scholarly' tomes and Internet sources either made my head swim or left me wanting more. I found the book to be written with a self-assured and knowledgeable hand in neither dry or elitist manner. Accessible and fascinating, it included lore that I'd not seen elsewhere and sparked my imagination in ways I hadn't expected. Reading a research book for fun has never been my idea of entertainment, but this book got me browsing not just for enlightenment, but for the pure joy of it!
Halloween Awakening.......2007-07-23
Lisa Morton's Halloween Encyclopedia is an eye opening experience for the novice or the holiday scholar. So many previous books cited information merely copied from earlier resources that were at best overused and at worst completely wrong but repeated endlessly as if to make them true. Everything from the dieties involved in the early ceremonies to the modern day take on a completely evolved celebration in this book is carefully researched and chronicled. It may upset fans who believe many of the previous untruths concerning the holiday or wanted more of their particular bent to be included in the book(as seems to have happened to another reviewer here) but there is a reason and rhyme to all entries in this tome and it belongs on any serious revelers bookshelf. It also belongs in all reference libraries.
Enjoyable.......2005-10-19
I'm not much of a Hallowe'en fan as it is celebrated today, but I enjoyed this book because it primarily talked about the more interesting celebrations at the turn of the century. I wish, however, that some or all of the wonderful vintage Halloween postcards had been in color.

Doomslayers Rock!.......1999-08-02
I'm only writing this 'cause that geek below me gave it two stars. Doomslayers gives you all the info one needs to reach the depths labyrinth...and make it out alive. The fiction is great and the meta-plot stuff is pretty kewl 2. I highly recommend this book to anybody who seriously needs to explore the unknown!
Excellent material.......1999-07-29
I found this book to be filled with excellent material. While there is not much new material, the atmosphere and the writing is filled with hooks that one can put stories together about.
Book, or oversized errata?.......1998-12-01
This book is, at heart, a collection of material that should have been found in other Wraith supplements, marketed under the dubious title of "Doomslayers", which lends more mystique to the work than it really deserves. Most players will find this book to be totally worthless unless they own other sourcebooks, namely "Guildbook: Masquers", "Buried Secrets", "Dark Reflections: Spectres", and "The Dark Kingdom of Jade" among others. It does not stand alone, and even if you own all of the prerequisite titles, it is questionable whether such a limited topic as "Spectre Hunting" deserves the 160 pages that it is given. Also: far too much original fiction and other filler. Buy it for the art, or because you are a die-hard Wraith fan, but otherwise stay away.

Good way to move up to the next level.......2007-01-22
This book has some characteristics that target beginners, and in theory it could be used by anybody. I think this is partially correct. A few chapters are actually very succinct introductions to Access fundamentals (ch. 2, database design; ch. 3 managing data; ch. 5 form design). However, the tone of the book is clear in chapter 1 where the author introduces command buttons and Visual Basic code -- usually a topic found in the final chapters of books for beginners. Inside Track is really a great book for an strong beginner or intermediate Access user who wants to explore the next level in Access databases. I like this book for several reasons. First, it has a great chapter on introducing Visual Basic code in Access applications. If you've worked at trying to understand VBA you will appreciate this clear presentation of the basic concepts of how to work with this code in Access. Second, it takes the design of forms to a level more advanced than is usual for books like this. For instance, Inside Track gets you using list box input values as criteria in subform queries -- whereas in most Access-for-the-brainless type books you will not even cover using list boxes for collecting variable data in forms at all. Third, Inside Track introduces capabilites of Access not usually mentioned in beginners' books, such as linking an Access project to SQL server database tables, integrating Access with Office 2003, and linking to sharepoint data. It also introduces Access and XML, which is an important technology for data storage and transfer. All in all, I think a real beginner will want to use another book to work on the basics of table design, queries, and reports and forms. But if you are interested in the the next level, this book is a good way to get your feet wet. The territory is advanced, but there is generous explanation as you go. I don't think intermediate is easy to do with Access so I give it lots of credit for filling this important stage in learning Access.
A beginner book...........2006-08-23
If you you are just starting out then this book may work for you. With regard to using the text as a reference or just to brush up on your Access then it failed miserably. Because the practice chapters build on each other, you practically have to work through all of the previous chapters to build up the database, thus if you skip chapters and work on your topic of interests, the database failed because of missing data that was supposedly created during the previous chapters, which is pretty much useless as as brush up text.
Horrible - avoid at all costs.......2006-05-27
This is one of the worst books I have seen on Access. It's missing entire topics and never offers the reader a complete explanation of Access capabilities. Most Microsoft Press books are bad news and this one is no execption. I should have known better.
Intermidiate learners, this is for you..........2004-12-27
I found this book to be excellent for the levelI'm in. I bought MS Access 2003 Step-by-Step and this is the level right next to it. Very well written and extremelly well organized, this is definitely a work of reference.
Buy Microsoft Office Access 2003 Step by Step + this book.......2004-04-21
In my life I never touched Access until few months ago. Although I have a degree in Computer Science, the database I used before are Oracle, and MS SQL at all. Access is a wonderful tool for SMBs, only need few hours to write (in fact, should be click, drag and drop) the applications. and also easy to convert to .sql files.
I bought the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Step by Step first. this book is very good for people never touched Access before. I define this book is a higher level dummy book. you just follow the book. But some time sentence on the books may too considerated for the readers like ask readers to insert the CD-rom.
After I finish this book, you can almost work out most simple database applications. then if you really want to imporve to be professional in Access. then this book is your best choice.
it will introduce most of the special function like Macro and Modules + all the report formats.
Access has its limitation like does not support multiple users. data lenth is only 250 and file size must be less than 1G.
but it is a very simple tools can do some simple professional works. I like it very much, SMBs need it. my suggestion is for newbie of Access, buy the step by step first. then move to this book if you want to improve yourself.
After both of 2 book, that is already enough for you to self study Access. no need other books.
