Autowork focuses on the character of automobile work in the modern factory and the relationships between autoworkers, their union, and management from 1913 to the present. Two-thirds of the essays are devoted to the post-World War II period, which historians have not examined as extensively as the early years of the automobile industry.
In these original essays, the experiences of assembly-line workers come alive as never before. Using transcripts of government hearings, minutes of negotiations, records of arbitration proceedings, and articles in union newspapers, the authors present autoworkers' and union officials' descriptions of working conditions and the effect these conditions had on their health and home life. The essays analyze the dynamics of collective bargaining on important shop-floor issues such as safety, work pace, overtime, job assignments, and managerial discipline. Autowork demonstrates that many historians have underestimated the militancy and effectiveness of the United Automobile Workers of America.

Easy to read textbook.......2007-03-09
I really like the way these authors introduce Teaching credential students to the "real" world of teaching. They definitely don't sugar coat things. It is an interesting read and there are tons of call out boxes with pertinent information. For example, I am debating whether to teach at a private or public school when I finish with the credential program. In one chapter, there is a personal testimony of a woman who taught at public for numerous years and then switched to private. She explains the pros and cons of each situation. I found this information to be very helpful and pertinent to my future teaching career. As far as textbooks go, it is very well written and entertaining. This is probably a book I will hang onto at the end of the semester.

The book is great but word to the wise: DO NOT I repeat DO NOT buy this book from : EDUBOOKEXPRESS They have BIG problems with Customer Service. I rate them very poor. I returned the book in the same condition it was sent, but it's been 3 weeks and I haven't recieved a response. And what's worse They are keeping my money. I'm still fighting to get my money back.

Insensitive.......2007-02-25
Youth are impressionable and this is emphasizing the fact that whatever is "trendy" or "cool" also includes being desensitized to racially insensitive comments. The whole "It's just a joke" doesn't cut it when there's alot of history behind racial stereotyping and the results from it, "joke" or "no joke." It all starts somewhere. We get enough of this from the media. How is the body of Christ any different if we're allowing this kind of material to circulate? It's not an issue of "us" against "them" but about truly being brothers and sisters in the church representing love, understanding, and compassion standing in solidarity with each other. Is this what we're truly teaching our youth? Or are we simply adding anything to the name of Christ to make Christianity more "trendy" and "enjoyable"? When was Christ about those things? How much are we compromising? ANd where does "loving your neighbor as yourself" fit here?
Contains Racially offensive material against Asian-Americans........2007-02-25

Impressionable youth may be exposed to racist attitudes and may make fun of minorities with their friends because of messages from secular media, but I never expected that an upstanding organization like Zondervan would send these messages. I am absolutely disappointed and outraged that these authors and Zondervan has the intention to teach this to American teenagers in the name of Christ. Please join me and speak out. Do not purchase this product.

This book is great not just prices but a ton of knowledge that is extremely helpful... What to watch for and how to verify it... There are always those that try to get a little more than they deserve in any business... After reading this books hints and tips it is like you have twenty years experience in buying selling trading guitars... Many of my long time guitar experience friends are amazed when I come up with things that even they didn't know... Like serial codes that indentify what country their guitars were made... One of the biggest bang for the buck books I have bought in a long time...

I use this book as a reference in pricing. I have found it to be a very valuable tool for a starting point on pricing. Also, I have found it to be a very handy reference to locate model information without having to go to several sources. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in collecting or buying vintage guitars.
Great Book, Even If Some Information Is Mistaken.......2005-07-14
THE BLUE BOOK OF ELECTRIC GUITARS is a great book featuring information about different guitars, both old and new. Some information here needs to be taken like the humor in comedy films featuring Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Alyson Hannigan, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and/or Melissa Joan Hart, because instruments that are still in production are listed as discontinued, but it's still a wonderful book.

Had to return this stinker fast. Very incomplete book for guitars alone, never mind their value (Which most are valued too low in here). Inexperienced author (not the guy on the cover), some kid. I could not believe how bad it was. Format is terrible, it's painful looking up a particular guitar. A Good book for this type of info is Vintage Guitar Price Guide. It is a four star book (still incomplete) - I've yet to see a five star on this subject.......??

I found this book extremel amuzing. It is a little morbid but entertaining none-the-less. Mike Gelfand is a great author which comes through in this literary endeavor. I highly recommend this to anyone no put off by the death issue.
