Book Description
Key questions interviewees should always ask at the end of each interview.
Customer Reviews:
Interviewee's question at the job interview.......2006-12-18
Helpful book and quick, easy read on questions to ask during one's job interview. If anything it shows if the person seeking employment has done their share of preparation for the interview process. This book will help you focus on areas of employment that are important to you: performance measurement, promotions, personal development as well as figuring out company strategies and attitudes towards: outsourcing, competition, etc. At the end of the book there are helpful sample letters for both acceptance letter and letter for declining an offer.
This book will completement any book that is preparing your for the interview process. It will make your shine and stand out in comparison with other applicants who are trying to wiggle it.
Seals the Deal!.......2005-07-21
OK, it may not seal the deal, but the interviewers were very impressed by these questions. Not only do they help you pinpoint the philosophies of the company and the typical working day but they also help you avoid sounding so "What's in it for me?" This book is just a good guide that helps you direct your questions to different topics.
Good Value.......2002-02-12
Many people in job interviews ignore the importance of asking questions and assume that their sole role during the meeting is to answer questions. In reality, however, most interviewers will agree that there's as much (if not more) information in the questions the candidate asks - or doesn't.
This book is suitable for new graduates on their first job hunt as well as veteran job seekers. It can help the veterans by aiding them focus on the areas they want to explore before their interview and the impression they want to leave the interviewer with. It can also help `newbies' and those who simply don't know what to ask by providing numerous with intelligent and targeted questions that are generally important and can be relevant to most situations. Moreover, the author gives good advice on how to ask these questions, when to ask them and why should a a particular question be asked.
Don't make the mistake of going through the list and picking the questions that take your fancy without reading the advice - you may inadvertently create a wrong impression and the question may not be even relevant to the organization interviewing you - so make sure you do your homework.
The only reason I did not give this book a 5-star rating is because the format and layout were not very friendly.
a great book.......2000-09-30
This is a great book. Not only does it help you with ideas for questions, but also helps to fucus your research of the job, company and industry. The questions I asked used to be my weakest element in an interview, now my interviewers complement my questions. It has been the one book that has improved my interviewing skills the most. My only caution is that some of the suggested questions are brazen, and/or too abstract and run the risk of intimidating your interviewer. This can be overcome by taking the advice of the author on some aspects, but it took me a little practice to realize that.

In Part II country studies are presented for China, the Czech Republic, Eastern Germany, Estonia, Hungary, Poland, Russia and the United Kingdom. A must-read for those who take baby-naming too seriously!.......1999-05-27
This book is absolutely hilarious - especially for soon-to-be parents who are reading baby books with highlighters in hand. It provides great descriptions of redneck names, and the way your child may turn out if given such a name. Great gift for all expectant couples!
Dang funny.......1998-09-17
A great book. It is brought out often and more than one guest has sat for quite a while reading each name and description out loud. I buy it for anyone I hear of expecting a child.
Funny if you're from the southeast and over 40........1997-08-10
For people whose roots are from the Carolina Piedmont through east Texas, and between Louisville and the Gulf Coast. It's heavier on really southern names than Upper South names. Funny but not mean. I went to grade school and church with these names when I was a child. Features the adventures of Fern, Vern, and their bowling trophies, among other "real" meanings of names
Book Description
Johnny Rector has been recognized for years as one of America's top jazz guitar writers. Here, for the first time, he presents an analysis of modern chord progressions, extensions, alternations, substitutions and a "hands-on" series of exercises designed to utilize and apply these important concepts to the guitar fingerboard. This book was written as a self-study guide to the intermediate, advanced and professional guitarist who has not had the opportunity to study material of this kind with a first-class competent teacher-artist, although such a teacher can be of great assistance in learning to apply the material. It shows unusual chord forms and progressions beyond the basics. Written in standard notation.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful resource.......2006-08-18
I own & originally studied from an older version of this book in two volumes published in the 50's by Play-Rite Publications. I have been a guitar teacher for many years & always wished the books would be made available again so I could use them in instruction for current students. This is a revised version of those two books in a single volume, updated with some newer info & a cd. All guitarists will benefit greatly from this study & will enjoy playing the progressions. The knowledge contained in this book will stay with you & open up many new ideas for chord substitutions making your playing exciting & interesting. Johnny Rector presents the material in an interesting & logical order. "Mel Bay's Deluxe Encyclopedia of Guitar Chord Progressions" by Johnny Rector, along with "Mel Bay's Rhythm Guitar Chord System" are two books every jazz &/or rock guitarist should own. 5 stars!
Book Description
If you are only going to get one guitar chord book, make it this one! Thousands of chord forms are presented. Chords are presented in each key and numerous forms are shown for each type of chord. Chords are classified into melody forms, inside forms, rhythm forms and bottom four string forms. Each type of chord is shown in notation, listing the name of each note and its function in the chord (root, third, seventh, etc.) Also, the name of each note is shown on every diagram and the bottom and top chordal tones are listed (5th, root, etc). A great value for any guitarist.
Customer Reviews:
Useful Book.......2006-12-28
I like this book simply because of its contents and layout. It shows many ways to hold each chord. It teaches the guitarist sometimes three, four, five and six string methods, so whatever type of guitar or muscic you play, there is a method that can best suit your needs. I recommend the spiral version because you can spread the book apart more easily.
A new guitar players savior..........2001-04-14
An educational book that's been in print since 1971 has gotta be good. This book basically taught me how to play guitar. I learned all of my chords and such from it. It's laid out very clearly with both diagrams and photos to show you how to make each chord. Definitely get this one.

Book Description
Short-listed for the Philip Abrams Memorial Prize 2003 Museums have been the subject of intense debate in recent years and their history and development raise important questions. What was modern about the art museum? Why did museums emerge when and where they did? How were museums involved with the development of modern art worlds? What was the relationship between art galleries and their audiences and who were the key people involved with their inception? Focusing on the role of national art galleries in continental Europe, England and Scotland, this book explores in depth the interrelationship between artistic and exhibitionary forms, as well as between power and governance in those places where the roots of modern culture were being laid most visibly. Drawing upon debates concerning modernity, Prior investigates how the boundaries of art and culture have been determined within the museum world. In particular, he looks at the interface between the project of the nation and the gallery and how galleries were involved in making certain social groups or bodies feel at home and others excluded.

Book Description
All web sites have an architecture, whether you design one or not-just as every building has an architecture, from the lowly shanty by the railroad track to Chicago's tallest skyscraper. Unfortunately, most web sites are shanties, not skyscrapers. Companies that hastily threw up a web site in the dot-com boom days were visited by building inspector Jakob Neilsen, who told them their site should be condemned. But now we are entering a time of rebuilding, and we've got a chance to get it right.
Information Architecture: Blueprints for the Web introduces the core concepts of information architecture: organizing web site content so that it can be found, designing web site interaction so that it's pleasant to use, and creating an interface that is easy to understand. This book will help designers, project managers, programmers, and other information architecture practitioners avoid the costly mistakes of the past by teaching the skills of information architecture swiftly and clearly. Use this book and you will pass the usability inspection with flying colors!
Customer Reviews:
Are you just starting yours studies at IA now?.......2006-10-21
I have to ask you a question - "Are you just starting yours studies at IA now?". If yes, probably this book will help you. It's easy to read, small and fun. A really nice overview about IA and even usability. You could spend a lot of time reading the polar bear book, and I recommend that, but start reading this book is a nice idea too.
Unfortunely, if you have a little more experience on the subject, you won't get such surprising insights like the beginners readers. Christina has writen good things about the creation of personas and scenarios, one entire chapter, and that's all. Sometimes she mixes usability, IA and design in a strange way, losing focus. Even worst is how the book begin and over, very bad, with sad and ingenuous recommendations.
Simplifying... if you looks at a nice overview about IA, you'll enjoy reading this book. Otherwise, search for another book, more consistent, with more focus and better ideas, not only common.
A Good Overview of IA.......2006-05-16
I'm a web developer and have always been fascinated with the interaction of humans and web sites, and this book does an excellent job of explaining the subject in simple terms while addressing more complex issues, as well. I read this book back in 2003 when it was first published and, not being an information architect, was happy to find it spoke to my level of knowledge.
With chapter titles like "First Principles: Some rules of thumb, and some thumbing of the rules" and "Gurus and Rules: In which some people like to boss you around, when we know that's my job," the book entertains as it educates, and leaves you with a comrehensive set of steps & guidelines when designing a site from scratch or improving an existing one. Numerous case studies, screen shots and diagrams also break up the monotony of what could otherwise be a boring subject.
If you're new to IA or are looking to expand your knowledge of architecting user interfaces for the web, this book belongs on your bookshelf.
Good overview/introduction to IA.......2005-05-29
This book is a pretty quick read and a very good overview/introduction to the field of information architecture and HCI methods in general. Wodtke covers wireframes, content inventories, usability testing, interviewing users, heuristics, metadata, personas/scenarios, human memory, the concept of recall vs. recognition, and many other topics. After having a year of graduate coursework in HCI, I'm not sure I really learned anything new from this book but it was a really good refresher. Moreover, there's a diagramming chapter that is excellent. It included examples of some diagrams that I had never tried before and wasn't familiar with. Overall, I would highly recommend this book. It was fun and easy to read and very useful. For me, it will serve as a nice handy "all-in-one" reference guide.
insight into a true leader.......2004-07-05
this volume is an extremely valuable lesson from a true leader in the field. Wodtke provides insight into the thinking behind some of the most-used services on the Internet today.
It's worth taking the time to read a book like this.......2004-02-20
This book won't present shocking facts about IA but it puts in writing many things that come in handy when you have to work in this field. The author includes good examples and the book can be read from cover to cover without feeling overwhelmed. Overall, it's worth taking the time out to read a book like this.
