This book is clearly written by a person that knows about job hunting. Russell, the author, presents helpful advice from his experiences as a job seeker, employer, professional job board owner and working with agency and corporate recruiters. It is a short book in length but not in material as it covers all expected topics and clearly discusses them with insight into the needs of today's job seeker. The book is easy to read, flows well and you will be done in just a few short hours ready to make good use of the information. With the layout of the book, it serves as an effective resource as you re-write or tailor your resume for that specific job you desire. All in all, a great resource for any professional currently job seeking or not.

This book examines the changes in official policy towards the introduction of protective labor legislation for women workers in the Soviet Union during the period 1917-41. In the 1920s, emphasis was placed on the need for the "protection" of female labor by the agencies responsible for regulating womens' role in industrial production. With the mass recruitment of women workers to the Soviet industrialization drive by the early 1930s, labor protection issues were often ignored as women were encouraged to play a more "equal" role in the production process.

ITS FUNNY!.......2002-03-20

As the other reviewer said, it is a complete joke, BUT ITS HELLA FUNNY! I am a person who reads nonsense anyway and why would you buy a book titled "How to cope when youre surrounded by idiots or if you are one" if you didnt expect it to be a bunch of bull? Anywho, my point is that this book is extremely funny although it is pointless. I truthfully loved the book. If you have a lot of time on your hands and don't mind reading useless information, then it is the perfect book for ya.

Not What You Think.......2000-06-06

When I first read the description of this book, it sounded interesting to a cynic like myself. I was expecting a witty but generally serious book with a real point, and this wasn't. It was mainly just a joke, and not a very good one at that.

Very difficult reading.......2007-08-23

This is a book of interviews and quotes from an eclectic DJ. While all the A list entertainers are here including Marian Anderson, Louis Armstrong, Mahalia Jackson, Bob Dylan, Janis Jopin and more this book is not interwoven with any coherence and too abstract. Since everyone will like at least someone quoted here it will have its fans, but I am having a horrible time getting through this book.

Nice collection of parts of interviews of some greats from the opera and jaz worlds. Better than the original interviews in one respect -- the subjects get to talk more than the interviewer. I loved Stud's show on WFMT, but sometimes...

A marvelous Book .......2007-01-11

This book is wonderful and so full of character. Anyone old enough to remember Studs Terkel and His radio program will love this book, and if you have never heard of him you will enjoy getting to know his unique outlook on life. The interviews are a rich and colorful history of the music of the 20th century and well worth the price of admission.

Perfect Introduction.......2004-09-07

If you know absolutely nothing about Filemaker, this book is easily the best. Some may pass it up because of a lack of practice files. However, I think that is a plus. I found it easier to develop my own practice database(s) as I went along.

If you want to learn more, I recommend moving on to the Advanced Peachpit book and then to Kubica's, which is too comprehensive and advanced to be used as a learning tool, but an excellent reference manual.

Very good and easy to use book.......2004-03-04

I knew almost nothing about FileMaker Pro but needed to learn it fast for a project. I read this book in about 5 hours and after that, I could do all but the most coplicated things in FileMaker. I have a Mac and this book is great for Mac or Windows. Unless you need to do very complicated scripts and formulas, this book is great for you. I hope he updates it for FMP 7. All in all, read this book and you will gain a skill you never knew how useful it could be. I make databases for all sorts of things now, and it just takes me a couple hours.

Cool New Features Explained!.......2002-12-18

I wrote the book, so call me biased. Still I wanted to highlight that FileMaker 6 is not just another upgrade and the book not just another revision (I know because I've been doing this since FileMaker 4). Two cool features, highlighted in the book, make FileMaker 6 worth the upgrade: full XML support and auto-importing of digital camera images (Mac only).

* While XML is a blessing to database geeks, it's also accessible to plain folks via FileMaker's support of XML-based templates. You'll find a free collection on the FileMaker site (www.filemaker.com) that will let you do nifty things like add live package tracking to a FileMaker database or import songlists from iTunes. If you are a database geek, the XML support means the barriers are finally down for using FileMaker with corporate-scale databases.
* As for importing digital camera images, FileMaker doesn't just grab the photo but also grabs all the metadata for each image. Such data includes camera settings, which FileMaker can dump directly into several of the 20 templates included in the program. If you use lots of digital images, this alone can make sorting and finding photos way easier.
