A Student's Guide to Volunteering A good book about a terrific way to learn by doing. Beyond developing marketable and useful abilities, volunteers have the opportunity to touch people showing that they care. And caring itself is something to be learned. The first part of the book covers some general principles then discusses opportunities in six major areas open to teens. The second part is a listing of resources in the six areas, then volunteer organizations by state (in the U.S.) The chapters include story examples of what volunteering in various jobs is like. One chapter discusses how to set up a youth volunteer organization.

As the world economy is liberalized, and national economies become more intertwined, the national decision making of states is also increasingly interdependent, and it has become vital for non-governmental organizations to create an international agenda. This title is an important study of what makes such organizations successful on an international level. The focus is on trade unions, as a key international group of NGOs. It asks whether a global system can be designed to stimulate countries to observe a set of minimum or core standards. It explores three important questions: how have unions attempted to influence the debate on the inclusion of minimum labor standards in the WTO agreement?; what accounts for their success or lack of success?; and what conclusions, with respect to the effective behavior of trade unions in the construction of international policy, can be drawn from these experiences? Useful research book.......1999-03-26

This book helped me quite a lot in researching the Pifarri (a rather obscure subject). It is rather dryly written, as are most books like it, but it contains excellent information. I wouldn't go so far as to consider it bedside reading, but for a student of the field, it is worth considering.

I should just say in defence of this book by the above reviewer that the error of Vivaldi's date of birth (quoted as 1762) is likely to be a simple typo, as the date (which should read 1962!) refers to when Vivaldi's true date of birth was REDISCOVERED in the 20th Century, as stated earlier in the book.

Well written, easy to understand........2007-05-07

This is a great resource for understanding the inner workings of Windows Server 2003. It starts with the very basics, but touches on advanced options as well. It is well written and easy to follow. The review questions at the end of each chapter are great for making sure you understand what has been presented.

Ok, but that's about it.......2007-01-30

I read this book all the way through, did all the problems that I actually had answers for, and, if not for Transcender's exam questions, there is no doubt that I would have failed the 70-290 exam. This book provides questions at the end of each chapter for you to review what you just learned, sadly though, the answers are in the teacher's edition, which you just don't have access to. The section "What You Really Need to Know" does provide answers to the questions, but, some of the answers are wrong, which drove me nuts. As a reference book, this one is great, but as a test prep book, I would have to say find another one. I cannot recommend it for the actual exam.

Great Additional Server 2003 Information.......2006-12-22

This text is a great initial or supplement to additional texts about Windows Server 2003. The various discussions and hands-on sections at the end of each chapter enhance understanding about the Windows Server network operating system. Clearly conceived and well done. More concise than the first version.
