"Last minute cover letters," are choc-full of important information on how to create an attention grabbing cover letter, to boost your resume. There are also information on the do's and don't's, in the preparation of a cover letter. And, if you're not sure as to what a cover letter looks like, on page "59," introduces visual samples of career cover letters.
This is a book, that is smart, and practical, for today's job seekers.

Ortberg is a master. Next to his book, If You Want To Walk On Water, You've Got To Get Out of the Boat, this was as good as it gets for relating to God in our limited human minds. Ortberg has tremendous way of taking ordinary stories, humor and life experiences and making them clear pictures of what Scripture communicates. Excellent, excellent book.
Where's Waldo?.......2006-11-10
I purchased this book for a small group setting and it fit the bill perfectly. Ortberg has a way of uncovering truth and in this book, encourages you to find Waldo, a God who wants to be part of your everyday life. I enjoyed it personally, was challenged by it and found the group setting enhanced my learning. I do look for God differently now since I've read the book. He is closer than we think.
I would have kept the orginial jacket cover. It focuses you to the subject matter much better.

This book is a pretty decent book if you are interested in a mostly narrative style of discussion on Christian Living. Entertaining, well written, and clear, I would recommend it if you are looking for this type of book.
Don't try so hard!.......2006-07-19
This is a very helpful little book on how to find God in your everyday life. The discussion of Martha & Mary is particularly astute. My only complaint about the book is that Ortberg tries way too hard to be funny and even hip. (This is the first book of his that I've read, so I don't know if he does this all the time or not; I suspect he does.) Humor should be natural, not forced, as it is in this book. His attempts to be hip are merely pathetic. For instance, he quotes the line "The jerk store called & they've run out of you" attributing it to a friend of his. He obviously has no clue it comes from a Seinfeld episode! Still & all, a good book, though, for a Christian at any level.
I Am Convinced!.......2006-04-14
Upon a recommendation from my pastor, I picked this book up and I was not disappointed. John Ortberg writes with a Max Lucado approach. Taking everyday things and making us realize that they too have a place in our spritual walk. He challenges us to look for God in everyday occurences. His premise, as indicated by the title, is that God is more active in our everyday walk than we give Him credit for. In turn, he challenges us to do our part in praying that God bring His Kingdom to earth.

In this elegantly written book, Lee Wandel discusses the relationship between the reform of poor relief and the Protestant Reformation in early sixteenth-century Zurich. In the introduction she traces the various ways that poverty has been evaluated, and its social and religious connotations, up to the sixteenth century. After providing a portrait of sixteenth-century Zurich, the author goes on to explore the discussion of the poor in various media of the town: the sermons and pamphlets of Huldrych Zwingli, who was preaching that the poor were the true images of God; printed images depicting Christ calling beggars and other poor folk to Him (these appeared on title pages of Zwingli's pamphlets); the language of legislation (in particular the poor ordinances of 1520 and 1525). By exploring each of these different "languages"--the words of Zwingli's sermons, the visual images of title page prints, and the language of legislation--Professor Wandel restores the complex perception of the poor in Reformation Zurich. Small business has captured the imagination of both the popular press and politicians. The tradition that has created sympathy for the small entrepreneur has been strengthened in recent years by images of small firms as dynamic, growing, and flexible and of large firms as struggling, outdated, and intractable in the face of changing competitive environments. There is, it appears, an added fervor for America's support of "the little guy."
Employers Large and Small draws on existing data and new research to create a more complete picture of the roles of large and small employers, challenging much of the conventional wisdom. It argues that the oft-cited achievement of small firms in generating new jobs is primarily a reflection of the fact that industries in which the typical firm is small have grown rapidly in recent years.
The authors show that there are striking differences between large and small employers--that in fact large employers pay higher wages, offer better fringe benefits, and on average offer a more attractive package of working conditions and compensation. These differences reflect real challenges faced by small firms: they pay more for their nonlabor inputs and for many fringe benefits if they choose to offer them.
Employers Large and Small also goes beyond the workplace, examining the role of large and small employers in politics. Despite the typical portrayal of small business as the underdog in policy disputes, the political resources of small employers are substantial. The PAC contributions of small business, for example, are as large as those of labor unions and nearly two-thirds those of big business.
The authors show that the economic and political differences between large and small employers are sizable, are significant influences in the working lives of Americans, and are at odds with current policy assumptions.

First of all, Wolf Marshall is an awesome guitarist. To be able to mimic the syles of so many legendary guitar heroes is nothing short of unbelievable. This book gave me insight into Wes songs I already knew and helped me correct some of the mistakes I was making, after learning them by ear. Mi Cosa, for example, uses the original Riverside version, I learned the Verve version, which was done with strings. I suggest, whenever possible, listen to actual Wes recordings. Wolf is good, but he definitely ain't Wes. There is a difference in the exact nuances, phrasing and touch that Wes gets. I've been playing for 30+ years and am impressed with the knowledge I've been able to gain from Wolf's books. The transcriptions are first-rate and accurate. I also recommend his George Benson and Pat Martino books. This is more than worth the money, it's a real bargain. Buy and enjoy.

This is a really well done transcription of these Wes Mongomery tunes. The tablature is very accurate and easy to work with. The accompanying CD is also good help for working on these solos.
Best of Wes.......2004-08-13
Wolf tears it up in this one. I now have three of his books: 101 jazz licks, Wes Montgomery, and Charlie Christian. This one is by far my favorite of the three.
All of Wolf's books are dead accurate. I have played his cds and origional recordings side by side and the match is identical. He and his band have got every note, every cymbol crash, every lick, everything down identically. The tabs are also right on. Wolf is the only one I've found who gets tabbing correct.
Buy ALL of his books. Not only is he an amazing guitarist, he is also a totally humble man. He even gave me some pointers that have helped me considerably when I first met him at a John Pissano/Henry Johnson gig at Spazios in Sherman Oaks.

I'm terribly sorry, but this is just one of those games that does'nt really need a guide. The layout and gameplay are simple, and the need for a walkthrough is rather moot. It is an good way to pick up odd hints or if you can't find something, but much of the info and "exclusive tips" are rather obvious. "wrap the AT-AT" or "try to get the hero". I mean, duhhhhhh. Of course you want to do those things. It's a waste of money unless you can find it dirt cheap. Save for a game instead.

First, the book is really for online playing only. No hints or tactics for offline play. Second, it isn't very helpful or detailed for online players either. Example:
The chapter on the Kashyyyk Docks explains tactics that either the Clones or the Droids could use. But nothing about how to play it as the Empire or the Rebels. As they have different equipment and vehicles the same strategies might not work for them. Also, some of the strategies are too simple.
For example, using the same map as an example, they suggest you take the village command post, City Hall, to cut off the supply of Wookiees then hunt them down. Well, duh. If I could get my troops to City Hall I wouldn't need to hunt down the Wookiees because I would have won already! It's a Catch-22 - to get to City Hall to cut off their reinforcements you have to wipe most of them out to break thru their lines to take City Hall to cut off their spawning point. What I need is information on how to do that as a offline player! Online players have dozens of human controlled troops who know what to do. I don't. I have dozens of AI controlled troops standing around, running the wrong way and charging into enemy gun fire without dodging!
Pretty worthless unless you can get it used and even then reading The Art Of War would get you better ideas.

I bought this guide because I (38 yrs old) was losing my edge to my son (9 yrs old) and I particularly needed some winning strategies on Dune Sea.
Unfortunately, most of the strategies are written assuming you're playing as part of a multi-player online team. Not so much for those us that play offline (splitscreen). We splitscreeners have a hard time attacking multiple objectives as different soldier classes in the first two minutes of battle - we need advice on what is the "key" objective, and which secondary objectives are better left to your lower-intelligence AI comrades.
But you learn a lot about the maps and some esoteric details you might not pick-up by playing even as much as we do. Plus, we get to extend our battlefront experience even when "Mom" has made us turn the t.v. off. I still can't beat my son on Dune Sea, though.

Wats the point of getting this I beat the whole game in an hour. It was that easy. the bodys dont stay when the die which was stupid. and abouve all it showed who had killed u. that was horrible. game gets 4-5 book gets 1-5

One of the great mysteries about the game Star Wars Battlefront is why the manual is so incomplete. It provides only a limited subset of the keyboard / mouse commands (PC version), and it further fails to describe in adequate detail the key abilities of the different character types (e.g., pilot, scout, infantry, etc.).
I purchased the "Official Game Guide" in hopes that it might fill in some of this information, and, surprisingly, it didn't. For example, it includes statements to the effect "Use your pilot to heal other characters," but nowhere in the guide, or the manual that came with the game, does it illustrate HOW to do that. (For what it's worth: by pressing "g," you have to choose heal / repair as a pilot's secondary weapon. Then, right-click the mouse to deploy a healing kit.)
The manual does however provide useful maps and a decent description of the strategies either side of a battle might use to their advantage.
In sum, the manual that comes with the game is incomplete, at best, and this "official guide" does not fill in all of the gaps. It is surprising to me that there isn't a good summary of the keyboard / mouse commands, nor gamepad commands for other platforms.
