Digital Electronics: A Practical Approach (7th Edition).......2006-08-07
Book works well in a classroom format when you have time to go over the various waveforms. The Instructor package has several useful items.
Highly Recommended for Digital Electronics.......2005-01-22
William Kleitz takes a more practical approach which will benefit you now and prepare you better for the future, if you prefer digital over analog. Although I was forced to use Floyd's edition in college, Kleitz goes much deeper in detail for designing digital circuits taking small steps to learning, which then all come together as one. Generally speaking, all logic tables, using simple gates, their behavior appears static in all text books which are currently published. However, Kleitz reveals very interesting concepts and ideas, which appealed my interest in reading his book.
My experience with troubleshooting digital circuits leads me to believe that this a better overall text, no question about it. His remarkable approach, and style of teaching should be noted by all, but with most digital textbooks, most of them don't go beyond simple logic predictions, and material that never leaves the classroom floor. If your seeking advanced digital concepts with basic fundamentals included, then your best bet, is the text I'm reviewing here today by William Kleitz.

This book is only OK.......2006-10-03
This book is OK. Its not a very good book as an introduction in my opinion. If you are a new student to DSP I would steer clear of this book and get Oppenheim & Schafer or Proakis & Manolakis first. However, if you are looking for practical coding examples for things, this book is VERY good in that regard. It could be useful to the new student as an alternate reference.
Content not up to expectations........2003-09-11
The book covers a broad subject area in adequate detail. However, it is riddled with typos, errors in equations, switched variable names and other "erroneous permutations". It forces the reader to really grind through the examples with caution. There are many "leaps of faith" in the examples forcing the reader to digress into research mode to fill in the blanks. Overall, the book does a decent job of explaining DSP basics.
Wonderful Book!.......2003-08-07
I am a postgraduate in University of Plymouth and fortunately enough was taught by Prof, Efeachor himself. His book is without doubt one of the most practical orientated DSP book, the writtings are concise, terse and vivid. His explaination style is impeccable, Anyway, Prof. Effeachor decades of experience in telecommunication, audio and medical electronics speaks for himself. Grab this book if you want to learn the real magic behind DSP.
One catch, there are too many typos in the book. Otherwise I would rate it 5 stars.
I think..........2000-03-28
This book is pretty good to study DSP with C language. It contains many practical example C source code but this book has many misprint I'll expect that misprint will correct next edition!
I'm studying EE couse in Chung-Ang Univ. at Seoul Korea.
Digital Signal Processing : A Practical Approach.......2000-01-19
Is a practical book. I used it for my DSP course in University,UPM. It is very useful also for my current Design Job. Only one topic should be included, Data converters - ADC, DAC, such as SigmaDelta converter.

A great book for beginners in image proc. and comp. vision!.......2000-09-20
If you want to learn about the algorithms for computer vision and image processing and know algebra, then this book seems ideal. The author's style seems very accessible, and the examples show just enough mathematics to give the book some substance. Moreover, you get free image processing and computer vision software! It would be surprised if there were a better algebra-based introductory book out there.
Great package!.......1999-12-30
I found this to be a well written and insightful book. The text is supported by an abundance of figures and graphics and, more importantly, by the companion software on CD ROM, which is also available online (at no charge!). I would strongly recommend this book to any student/teacher of computer vision and/or image processing.

THE OUTHOUSE PAPERS is simple light-hearted fun about such diverse concerns as Corn & Insults, Gold Rushes & Festivals, Love Lore & Chickens, Civil War Slang & Cowboy Cooking Lingo, Dogs & Famous People, Hobo Jokes & Farmers, Mark Twain Wit & Mule Eggs, Fingernail Lore & Fiddling Around, Inventions & Hunting Tales, General Stores & Headstone Humor, & much, much more!
A bit of earthy frivolity for when we're about our serious business. Every throne room should have a copy - even those in our libraries!

Reader's Digest Treasury of Great Show Tunes.......2005-09-19
The first item did not come to me, but a second one was sent quickly. However, the item did not look brand new as I had expected. I'm not sure if it was due to insufficient packaging for mailing, damage in store or was slightly used. I specifically asked in an email to Rainbow Deals that it be boxed. Bubbly wrap envelopes are not sufficient protection for mailing because items are easily crushed and stressed, especially ring bound ones like this. I am not happy about having to incur postage to send it back. Have re-ordered it directly from Amazon.com hoping for better results.
Fantastic arrangements: gorgeous chords, not hard to play.......1999-03-25
A good collection of songs, but what makes this collection really shine are the arrangements. Non-standard, gorgeous chord sequences, rhythmic interest, but still reasonably easy to play. And fun to sing along with.My favorite songbook for sight-reading practice.
Customer Reviews:
Man of honour.......2007-07-28
The book is a GREAT read.
I have many WHU friends - some of whom are top flight.
Gardner's writting is very self-effacing.
He brings to life the banter. Banter that can only be heard down Millwall or West Ham and maybe the Orient. A unique humour. Scousers and Mancs don't have it. The north London clubs don't possess it. The west London clubs wouldn't understand it.
There's a sibling rivalry between WHU and MFC, whether you're from Bethnal Green or Bermondsey - maybe it's a docks thing? Hard times are always coupled with humour.
Football violence of the late 60s. 70s and 80s can never be replicated, because of how stadiums are built now and security and the onus of bad behavier being ultimately with the club.
This is a social history book. A good book.
Read this and you might want to read more.......2006-12-24
I use to think, a five star rating was meant for things like Macbeth, War and Peace, Madame Butterfly, Vincent Van Gogh paintings; but then, folks thought I might be judging some other things too harshly even if I gave it one star under; but let there be no confusion here, this one deserves every single one.
It'd still deserve it if they ripped out the chapter about his career as a bouncer, erm, doorman at Busby's; it's that good; still, with the caveat that this is sort of a book of the hoolifan genre; not so much one straightup on football.
I will say one thing, if the bloke thought it was too short at it's 240 pages and large print, you've got to read Congratulations, You have just met the ICF penned by Cass Pennant but basically recounting various tails by the members of the ICF including Bill; I voraciously read that one, coming in at around 400 pages; so if you combine the two; man, you've got a six hundred page turner and I definitely think, they complement each other. At some point in time, perhaps I will try to read the book "Cass" by Pennant as well; sort of part of this series of books. This one on the other hand, I almost cherish the words by Billy Gardner; and read them with delight and respect, slowly and deliberate. There are now a number of books out there, but these two, I'd attest too, as being welldone.
Nevertheless, I am sure, as the years have gone by, some things, some have become embellished and of course, the Hammers are naturally going to be the good guys; but it still passes the litmus test at that.
There is a lot here, some stuff so funny, I'd be a spoiler to repeat it, you have to get it. Actually, I think, one incident can be named, typical of the humour found here; Gardner is in the USA for a coaches/soccer seminar. Gardner and some friends are up, New York state way, driving a car, shortly after 9/11 but don't have ID and the cops, hands near their pistols, pull them over looking for it, nothing; 'cept Bill pulls his arm out and "Bill" is tattooed on him! That's there ID and the police let them go about their ways.
Some of it is sad and some violent, but we do get a birdseye view of Bill being put on trial for hooligan sorts of accusations.
It's a good read, Bill claims he is not so much ICF (InterCity Firm of West Ham United Football Club); but his own man.
There may be some war stories here, but I look at the guy, I'd want him on my side and would like to think of myself as no coward; but I don't think, I could ever steam into the guy. He says he's not a hoollgan, but merely a fan, a West Ham fan.
A widely available book in the USA is by Bill Buford called Among the thugs; another thing about this one, if you have read that one, then you need to read this one. The Thug book is not honourable or passionate and probably a bit short on some factual areas as well. Bill hits the nail on the head, that he doesn't care much for whom that Buford book is about, the Red Army of Manchester United; not that there is anything wrong with the team, but they've got a lot of fans, based largely on their success, not real grassroot supporting types like West Ham. The stories about the ICF are not even similar in the slightest to those in that other book. One needs to get a balanced view of the whole situation.
Honour aside, I can't go along with bonking your wrist with a hammer to get time off from work, to go see West Ham play overseas; but these are, remind you, hard core fanatics.
Hooliganism has been described as being a high from violence, but with Bill, I think his opiate is West Ham, the Irons themselves.
If the book lacks anything, maybe we could have found out a bit more about Bill's playing days, okay, it wasn't in the topflight; but 5, five broken legs certainly makes one curious as to how all that played out, hence, Bill wouldn't run from a fight, because he literally couldn't. It seems there are some photos included also that are not entirely explained in the text.
You might not become a West Ham fan after reading this, but I guarantee you, you'll watch how with some interest on how they perform in their games.
And he seems to be a successful coach of youth soccer; now an instruction book on that, I think, would be a good read.
Interesting Insight Into Terrace Legend.......2005-12-12
Having read several books on the topic of English football hooliganism, I had come across West Ham's Bill Gardner on a number of occasions. Finally, he is telling his full story, with the help of fellow ICF member Cass Pennant.
Gardner's story is pretty simple and he doesn't dwell much on childhood, but spends most of the time getting right to the 'goods', as it is. He details a number of the encounters that he was involved in, but avoids the trap of bragging. He repeatedly mentions his honor, and from what you can gather reading the accounts, I think he really does act honorably.
The book itself is a very quick read at only 240 pages or so, and with a moderate-sized print you can go through it in no time. Certainly worth a look if you've got any knowledge of the terrace wars of the 70's and 80's. Because for those that are, you have heard of Bill Gardner.
Book Description
Everyone knows Jamie-Lynn Sigler as Meadow Soprano on the HBO hit television series The Sopranos. But there's so much more to her, as her candid, outspoken autobiography proves. In Wise Girl, Jamie-Lynn reveals both the perks and the pressures that have come with fame, and how uncertain, fearful times have made her stronger, more confident, and able to face life's challenges. Writing openly and from the heart, she describes the emotional and physical toll taken when Lyme disease left the healthy 19-year-old paralyzed at the height of The Soprano's popularity; an obsession with her weight that nearly destroyed her career; and the dark side of overnight success. Her story will both surprise and inspire you. For this wise girl, the key to success isn't just what's on the outside -- it's using your brains, going with your gut, and learning from your experiences, including the mistakes, every day.
Customer Reviews:
Interesting but not about Eating Disorders.......2007-09-10
This book was very eye opening into Jamie's life however only a small section was devoted to eating disorders. For an ED book, it was pretty small. But as far as a book into Jamie's experiences it was good and interesting. It really humanized Jamie.
A GOOD, EASY READ.......2005-12-26
If you are interested in learning about a person's experience with an eating disorder, AND you're interested in celebrity writing, this is a very good, easy read. The star of "The Sopranos" tells how she developed an eating disorder and then worked to overcome it. It also documents her experience in the arts, so, really, this book is for someone interested in both. If you're ONLY wanting to know in-depth information about eating disorders, you will want to find a different book. If, however, you like theatre and acting as well as learning about anorexia or bulimia, this is the book for you.
Great read.......2005-10-22
This was an eye-opening book. It's always interesting to see that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Just because Jamie-Lynn is pretty and famous and wealthy etc, doesn't mean she doesn't have her own share of problems. It was kind of scary to read about how hard she'd exercise in order to stay in shape (because of all the pressure she felt from everyone), and the lengths she went to to keep this secretive. She talks about her life growing up, now working in a hit TV show, a few health problems here and there and toward the end of the book, she has a section dealing with how to get help if you or someone you know has an eating disorder. Overall, I'd say this is a good interesting read that is easy to get through, but helpful for the younger girls out there who may fall into the trap of extreme dieting or exercise because of today's pressure to look a certain way. Good job Jamie-Lynn.
This is an important and enjoyable book for young women........2004-07-27
Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler has experienced more in her life than many people twice her age, including severe anorexia, paralysis from Lyme's Disease and extreme career changes. This book contains fun backstage tidbits about The Sopranos and the recording business, in addition to valuable insights about the many pressures of normal teen life.
Sigler is honest about her mistakes and discusses ways to help other young people avoid image problems. She even revealed that Sopranos producers were secretly auditioning other girls for her part as Meadow because she was so thin. Instead of using her fame to write a fluffy celebrity tell-all, Sigler is eager to have her written experiences help promote the National Eating Disorder Association, for which she is now a spokesperson.
Pictures that show Sigler in the worst stages of anorexia are powerful. The description of her secret 2 1/2 hour daily exercise routine is vivid, but the before and after pictures reinforce everything. A valuable chapter at the end also advises readers on the warning signs of anorexia and how to get help.
This is an important and enjoyable book for young women to read. Sigler's voice is refreshingly conversational, but a good editor should have helped her smooth over some of the language to do justice to the heartfelt topics she discusses. I hope she will continue to write, as she has a lot to share with readers.

This novel,by Jamie-lynn Sigler, is a wonderful story. It is a perfect book for teenage girls to read to teach them about the pressures of being a teen and a star. It is a wonderful example of how a strong conviction can help to overcome anything. It teaches girls about the dangerous effects of eating disorders and how to get yourself out of a deep hole. This is a story about a girl goiung through what everyone goes through, love, loss, and the daily pressures of life.

Customer Reviews:
This is a great book, but..........2003-11-17
You need to play it through at least once on your own. This book really ruined the game for me. I used it the first time through and all I did was look ahead to see what items were around, the bosses, and who I could get on my team. There was no mystery left in the game. By the time I finished I had gotten all the genies, weapons, and characters, so why play again? I think that you should play the game first without out it. Games are fun because you don't know what is going to happen. That is what creates the adventure.
Good guide and VERY nice writing style.......2003-10-20
I really liked this guide. It didnt spoil ANYTHING and even left out EVERY plot element. This did exactly what a guide should do. It told you where to go next and gave a list of things to do, but not descriptions or exact steps right away. I found myself going through the game just by reading the titles of each section. This game is really pretty easy if youve played a lot of rpgs, but if you really want to see the incredible story unfold, use this guide and you will really enjoy it. Also, if you dont like this game because you started playing and there are no characters from CT, play through the entire game. I made the mistake of letting this game sit on my shelf for a few years because of that. A week ago i bought this guide and started playing again and really enjoyed it. Im thinkin about gettin the sound track soon, even though ive been telling myself to buy the CT OST for years. If only they did a soundtrack for Radical Dreamers....Oh well, most of those songs are in CC anyway. Back to this guide, (im terrible at these reviews) there were a few BIG problems with the map section. The Termina Bar accounts for about 5 maps. Several maps are actually not there. Theres a box for them but instead of that area, it is the Termina Bar stretched to fit that area. this is confusing, yet very funny as items are pointing to the tables and such. Overall though, i enjoyed this guide.
Nice but incomplete.......2003-06-29
~The guide is sufficient as it includes all the basics taht a guide should have. ... The guides also does not includes many important side quest things such as a list of monsters that can be mimicked. The guide also does a poor job of explaining some of the consequances of the choices you make. The maps in the guides are also annoying as they are located in the rear so you'll have to flip back and forth.~~ However this guide gives fairly good illustrations as well as complete list of charachters, their quests, items, elements, boss strategies and such. A def. buy if you really like the game and Def. superior to other bradygames guides (such as FFIX)~
An Excellent Guide! Good Work BradyGames!.......2003-01-27
First of all, the game's layout is just beautiful. Lots of artwork, screenshots to help you out, and full-colour maps.
The walkthrough is rather good, (even though you keep having to flip to the back for the maps) The boss tips are right on, and all the items you can find are listed as well as enemy info and pictures. Info on New Game+ is also included (though i did notice a few things missing..) Also, all the characters, the specials, and info on how to recruit them is listed flawlessly.
This game isn't difficult (and a guide isn't needed to beat the game) but if you're a completist, and want to get everything there is to get in Chrono Cross, this guide has everything you need.
