This is the fifth edition of this handbook, which presents statistical data concerning the foreign economic relations of the European member countries of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA): Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the USSR. It also includes information on Yugoslavia. The handbook provides facts and figures on international trade flows, and on turnover in selected trade commodities between the supranational trading groups such as OECD, EEC, EFTA, and CMEA, and between CMEA members. It also provides information on international indebtedness. The reference commences with comprehensive indicators of CMEA countries' foreign trade; then presents data from official publications of the CMEA countries and Yugoslavia. (Bulgaria, the German Democratic Republic, Romania, and the USSR do not report their trade by commodity group; this information can be obtained to some extent from the other sorces listed in parts II and III.) Part III is based on Western statistical sources. It details East-West trade, trade of the industrialized West, and trade of eight individual industrialized countries with the individual COMECON countries, all broken fown by SITC commodity groups. Part III is based solely on UN statistics. The final part of the handbook is devoted to currency, balance of payments, and indebtedness. Some of the official exchange rate quotations and balance of payments data is from national publications of Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Yugoslavia; the remainder of the information consists of estimates by Western scholars and institutions. Much of the information presented here is not readily available, as many of the sources are published only in the languages of the COMECON countries. Combined with the data published by Western sources, this results in a well-rounded and up-to-date picture of current affairs. The register of soures lists 50 titles, including statistical yearbooks and periodicals from CMEA and Western countries and international organizations. A detailed list of tables and an alphabetical index will facilitate easy access to information. This guide will be an important reference for individuals in corporations and academia who are involved with international trade, particularly in the area of Eastern Europe.

"Restraining Equality" addresses the contemporary financial, social, legal, and policy pressures currently experienced by human rights commissions across Canada. Through a combination of public policy analysis, historical research, and legal analysis, R.Brian Howe and David Johnson trace the evolution of human rights policy within this country and explore the stresses placed on human rights commissions resulting from greater fiscal restraints and society's rising expectations for equality rights over the past two decades.

The authors analyse sources of these tensions in relation to the delivery of equality rights in both federal and provincial jurisdictions since the Second World War. Through a series of interviews with human rights commission officials and a survey of advocacy groups, business organizations, and human rights staff the authors explore the performance and the internal workings of these. Howe and Johnson also analyse human rights commissions in light of the theoretical literature and empirical data, and discuss the political and legal contexts in which the commissions operate, and the reform measures that have been implemented.

this is a nice book, it starts with some basic (but useful) 16ths exercises then moves on to some very cool grooves, the CD tracks although basic do sound professional, something I appreciated ... you'd think the grooves here are easy but they are not, they are simple but not easy at all if you want to play them like Mr. Bolton does on the CD (he plays pretty much on top of the beat & he has great timing) ... most funk tricks you hear are explained here, scratching, skanks, slides, muting, funky shuffle feels ... I would have liked more exercises to develop the other rhythmic figures in this book but overall it's very good

This is a good basic book for people who like to play funky music. After finishing it, I liked to find more about this kind of music. The audio CD is 100 % OK and very instructive. The book is thin and essential, it goes rather fast, and I think it is not suitable for beginners on the guitar.
But most important of all : you can just play along, and playing is the essential in music.

I have never played funk music before - thanks to this book, now I have a clue and I'm having fun playing along with the tracks on the CD of this outstanding method. The exercises are truly useful and build gradually your funk chops from the scratch (no pun intended).
The book is much easier if you already know about dominant chords, but it does not require advanced playing.

This book explores the relationships between four modernist poets and the museums that helped shape their writing. During the early twentieth century, museums were trying to reach a wider audience and used displayed objects to teach that audience about art, culture, and ecology. Writers such as Yeats, Pound, Moore, and Stein borrowed strategies and techniques from museums in order to create literary modernism. Poetry in the Museums of Modernism places these writers' poetry and prose within the context of specific gallery spaces, curatorial practices, displayed objects, and exhibition objectives of the museums that inspired them, exposing the ways in which literary modernism is linked to museums.

Although critics have attested to the importance of the visual arts to literary modernists and have begun to explore the relationships between literary production and social institutions, before now no one has examined the particular institutions in which modernist poets found the artworks, specimens, and other artifacts that inspired their literary innovations. Catherine Paul's book offers the reader a fresh encounter with modernism that will interest literary and art historians, literary theorists, critics, and scholars in cultural studies and museum studies.

This book proved to be useful, insightful, and fun to read. For those who have a burning desire to enter the commercial acting business, Squire Fridell provides a step-by-step guide to preparing a résumé, having head shots taken, finding an agent, preparing for an audition, and managing your money, among other things. He also dispels many of the myths surrounding the business, explains how to look out for scams, and provides the reader with an insider's look into how the industry is run and how to be successful in it. For those who wish to act in commercials but aren't sure how to get started, this book is highly recommended.

Decent Guide to a Great Game.......2006-05-05

The first time I played through Jade Empire I was impressed with how well written the guide was, at first glance there didn't seem to be anything missing, and although the layout is somewhat confusing it wasn't that hard to figure out. However as I am now working my way through the game for a third time I find that the guide isn't always correct about the exact placement of the various Scrollstands or Spirit/Focus fonts. By no means is this guide the best one ever put out by Prima however the information on techniques, essence gems, and strategies for defeating opponents is well worth the price.
Pros: Overhead maps, enemy strategies,essence gem list, all side quests detailed.
Cons: Somewhat confusing layout, misses a few key item locations

There are cheaper alternatives.......2005-09-27

I suppose if you like a lot of pretty graphics this book is for you. Otherwise I recommend you go to gamefaq and just download a walkthrough there. The book is pretty disorganized and suffers from poor editing. You have to bounce all around to find anything. I got the feeling the people at Prima were just craming everything they could find into this book so they could justify the price. You will find help in this book but it is not worth the price.
