Twisted Sisters.......1999-12-04
Sadly, this amazing, mind-expanding collection of work is out of print--it shouldn't be. I first came across this book in college, and never in my life had I seen such a funny, audacious, shocking, honest and passionate collection of work--especially by female cartoonists. For those of you who think female-oriented cartoons means "Cathy", this is a must-read. True-blue underground work that could put R. Crumb to shame--the "bad-girl art" in the title isn't an exaggeration. Some of the greatest cartoonists today come together in this volume--Mary Fleener, Carol Lay, Carol Tyler, Julie Doucet, Krystynne Kryttyre and more. I also recommend this for people who think comic books mean men in tights. Try to find this book! It'll knock you flat.

STOP STOP STOP.......2007-04-24
This is a wonderful, amazing book. But STOP as this obsolete version has been superceded by "Joel Whitburn Presents the Billboard Albums" which updates the book through Dec 31, 2005.
This is THE BEST book on the subject-Bar NONE!!!!!.......2004-01-18
I first got this book in 1976 and have gotten it every time it's updated, and I have only two complaints about it; 1) it only gets updated every 3 to 5 years and 2) it's so damned expensive! But once you open it (and it feels like an LA Phone book), you forget the price and just OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH at how fact-filled and interesting it it! It practically tells you the last time your favorite artist picked his nose! It has EVERYTHING! I only with they would update it something like every two years. Get it, along with the Albums and Singles books, and you really don't need anything else. This book is THE B E S T !
Cool.......2003-02-13
I've been on Record Research's list for many years, and this was my very first Pop Albums book I purchased. It's got several amazing features. The best feature is that you can see which albums made the Pop Catalog albums chart. Although all of the artists do not have their complete discographies listed (only the albums that were charted on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart are in this book), and not much facts and trivia under albums, I still think this book deserves to be on music lovers shelves. I hope in the next edition they will show what current albums that can be found on vinyl.
Book Description
Description: My First Recession starts when the party is over. This study maps the transition of critical Internet culture from the mid-to-late 1990s Internet craze to the dotcom crash, the subsequent meltdown of global financial markets, and 9/11. In his discussion of the dotcom boom-and-bust cycle, Geert Lovink lays out the challenges faced by critical Internet culture today. In a series of case studies, Lovink meticulously describes the ambivalent attitude that artists and activists take as they veer back and forth between euphoria and skepticism. As a part of this process, Lovink examines the internal dynamics of virtual communities through an analysis of the use of moderation and "collaborative filtering" on mailing lists and weblogs. He also confronts the practical and theoretical problems that appear as artists join the growing number of new-media education programs. Delving into the unexplored gold mines of list archives and weblogs, Lovink reveals a world that is largely unknown to both the general public and the Internet visionaries.

A delightful little "family album".......2006-08-04
Due to a newfound appreciation for Rob Morrow, I've been checking out some of his other work. As I was looking into the availability of his other projects, I came across . . . what's this? . . . he's authored a book? A book of photography? Of Northern Exposure? Well, I must check this out.
And I was pleasantly surprised! It's a small book, a softcover, but it's a delightful "family album" of Mr. Morrow's castmates and the crew that made NX a reality (if anything in Cicely can be considered "real").
In the introduction, Morrow gives a brief but insightful account of how the book came into being, starting with his interest in photography. He tells about how he used his downtime between shots to take photographs, and how his particular favorites often ended up as gifts to the subjects of the photos.
The photographs in this book are all black and white, taken during the show's 3rd and 4th seasons. Some of the pics are intriguingly artistic, with very creative lighting and shot composition. Some are whimsical. Some are candids of cast and crew, either at work or hamming it up for the camera. Some are simply portraits of the people that made up this production "family." The captions, too, show goodnatured insight into the people who worked on the show.
And I especially like the self-portrait of the author, whom you'd never recognize if you didn't know who it was.
Overall, it's a nice little read if you're interested in behind-the-scenes views of TV production or if you're a fan of the show, the author, or photography in general.
Northern Exposures.......2005-09-12
Interesting to see the behind the scenes aspect of the show. A good book for serious fans.
Northern Exposures : Photographs.......2000-04-03
A great book for a Fan of Northern Exposure. Rob Morrow really captures the behind the scenes activity and personalities of the cast. I loved it!
Not enough pictures, and a little repetitious.......2000-02-04
This could have been a very special book. The pictures were great and it was interesting to see some of the background work that went on during the filming. I especially enjoyed the photo of John Corbett's dressing room door. However, it seemed to be a rushed job and there weren't enough captions to go with the pictures. I would have appreciated it more if it were longer and more detailed. On the other hand, I know I'll peruse it often!
O.K........2000-01-15
The book was enjoyable enough, but I was a little disappointed we didn't see more of the people from the show. Walt for example, Eve, Dave etc. All great faces. I'm sure the background people meant a lot to Rob, but I'd have rather seen all the characters I fell in love with. I still would have bought the book though. Publish another one Rob!

VERY GOOD BOOK -Briefer than Shon Harris Book.......2007-06-14
This book is adequate to pass the CISSP exam --I did, and only like 600 pages to read. I also go the Shon Harris book, but it is tooo loong-- like 1000 pages, and too detailed. I also got the Official ISC2 book to hear it from 'the horse's mouth'. All 3 have CD ROMs with questions. This book is a bit dated now, Shon's book was re-released in late 2006.

You want to try to really pass the CISSP the first time. Good Luck!!
No Errata Available.......2007-02-27
The author mentions an Errata for corrections to this book. You would think that a book published in 2004 that the author clearly stated various errors would be available at the Sybex site - where it belongs. Unfortunately, no such errata exists and I highly doubt it will ever exist. I also noticed some errors, not enough to worry me though.
The book is a reasonable early read to familiarize yourself with the CISSP exam content. The questions are not up to typical Sybex Certification Book standards - just not well written. Sybex Certification books are normally fantastic and very well edited.
I also read the Shon Harris All-in-One book. The Shon Harris book is extremely well written and has an unbelievable number of really well thought out CISSP questions to practice on. The text in her book is superb - well worth reading the whole book. If I had to choose between the two books - I strongly recommend purchasing the Shon Harris book instead of this book.
If the author can provide a URL for the current errata - please do so for those persons that did purchase your book instead of knocking the critics.
Great overall book, concise and relavent information provided.......2006-07-25
I took this book out from the Air Force Technical Library and found it to be extremely well-written, concise, and an excellent introduction to the field of computer security. When reading this book I felt that the author had an excellent understanding of the material presented and focused on the most important aspects of the subject matter. I have not taken the CISSP yet so I can not comment on how relevant the material is to the exam (as most people know the CISSP is mostly about work experience anyways - not something you learn from a book).
After reading this book I then read the Shon Harris CISSP book I can tell firsthand that this book (Stewart's) is of much better quality. The Shon Harris book shocked me at its lack of structure (many topics are covered multiple times and simple security/network fundamentals are repeated so much that I wanted to scream - literally), extremely simplistic and foolish examples, and very poor quality of writing. After reading both books I have much respect (professionally) for Stewart and very little for Harris.
As for the comments about typos - I did not notice any major typo in the book that took away from the presentation of the material. (So ICMP was misspelled once - who cares?) Overall I thought the quality was much better than the Harris CISSP book (which, itself, has loads of typos and incorrect quiz questions - don't get me started). Overall I would highly recommend this book to others looking to gain a firm understanding and grasp of computer security while preparing for the CISSP exam.
Extremely poor: Author is busy defending himself.......2006-07-14
Everyone, avoid buying this book. There are many other books out there.
As you can see on this page, one of the authors of this book tried to justify having made errors by saying other books have errors too. He also openly admitted having made contextual errors (which is extremely embarrassing) after being pointed out by one of his customers, but the author blasted him away and made no apology about selling incorrect data due to his ignorance and stupidity.
Good enough to pass the exam -- despite some typos.......2006-06-30
Overall, the book provides a good coverage of the exam material at a reasonable price and is easy to read, especially if compared to Harris book and the Official (ISC)2 Guide. At the same time, I noticed a few typos and inaccuracies, which was very unfortunate. That was why I gave it 2 stars instead of 4 that it deserves. At the end, it did the job, and I passed the exam, although, after reading this book, I reviwed a few CBK domains I was less familiar with in the Official (ISC)2 Guide. Unfortunately, none of the books I checked, including a more expensive Harris book and moreover, none of the cheap overviews like the Passport book, provides a 100% coverage of the material that is tested. Therefore, unless you have a real IT-related experience, you may be caught by surprise at the exam, no matter which book(s) you used. As for the typos, even the Official Guide has a few.
