Book Description
If you listened to the oryginal Buffettology, you know exactly half of what you need to know to effectively apply Warren Buffett's investment strategies.
Buffettology was written specifically for investors in the midst of a long bull market. Since then we've seen the internet bubble burst, the collapse of Enron, and investors scrambling to move their assetswhat remains of them-back to the safety of traditional blue chip companies. As price peaks turned into troughs, worried investors wondered if there was any constant in today's volatile market. The answer is yes: Warren Buffett's value investing strategies make money.
The New Buffetology is the firts guide to Warren Buffett's selective contrarian investment strategy for exploiting down stocks -- a strategy that has made him the nation second-richest person. Designed to teach investors how to decipher and use financial information the way Buffett himself does, this audiobook quides investors through opportunity-reach bear markets, walking them step-by-step through the equations and formulas Buffett uses to to determine what to buy, what to sell -- and when. Authors Mary Buffett and David Clark explore Buffett's recent investment in detail, proving time and again that his strategy has earned enormous profits at the time no one expect them to -- and and with almost zero risk to his capital.
The New Buffettology is an essential companion to the original Buffettology, a rad map to investment success in the worst of times.
Customer Reviews:
I loved the book and enjoyed the CD.......2004-07-13
This is great book on investing and I highly recommend it. The CD is great to listen to in the car and gets all the points across. I suggest that you also get the book. It's way better than the Graham books - which are very dated - they give you the tools to buy stocks selling at below book value - not a lot of those around any more. Besides Buffett got over Graham years ago.
A Complete Joke.......2004-07-10
This book tries to reverse-engineer Warren Buffett's investment strategy and does a horrible job of it. Like all of Mary Buffett's books, this is long on hype and short on credibility.
For about the same price, you can buy the Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham, a book that Warren Buffett personally recommends reading.
Book Description
Rush Limbaugh meets Napoleon Hill in these fifteen counterintuitive rules for creating personal wealth in the new Republican-dominated era.
Currently, the GOP controls the United States presidency, Congress, Senate, Supreme Court, and the majority of governorships and statehouses. That will NOT change.
Americans are moving in droves to red states, states where government is smaller, taxes are lower, jobs are plentiful, churches abound, and small businesses are thriving. Blue states will continue to lose population, government funding, electoral votes, and political prominence. What will remain are two Americas: red states full of young, vibrant risk-takers with high incomes, advanced levels of education, strong marriages, and high church attendance. Blue states, on the other hand, are often marked by decaying, high-crime areas with older populations, infrastructures in disrepair, and sluggish business growth.
How can you succeed and plan to thrive in a Republican future? Professional sports handicapper and radio host Wayne Allyn Root reveals the new Republican rules, which include:
- Relocate to red states.
- Invest in business and buy stocks to capitalize on Social Security privatization.
- Buy real estate-it is your foundation for wealth and security.
- Invest in foreign real estate.
- Understand how charitable giving will help you become a Millionaire Republican.
- Learn to appreciate "the joy of failure."
The real key to becoming a Millionaire Republican is to do the opposite of what the masses do. Millionaire Republican shows readers how to harness the current political, business, and social winds to create a unique plan to achieve prosperity and success.
Customer Reviews:
Never any truer words written!.......2007-04-01
I only wished I could do all of the things in this book because it all is true. I would be much richer!
Dead on!!.......2006-12-21
This book proved very hard to put down. I would give it 4 stars as opposed to 5 only because the author strays a bit to much from giving advice while promoting himself. Either way, VERY good book. Very revealing and eye opening look at democrats and there true initiative. Also very good advice on how to become succesful.
Rich Republicans Get Rich - By Breaking and Buying the Law.......2006-08-04
Rich Republicans are NOT bold, daring risk-takers. If anything, Rich Republicans are risk-averse cowards devoted to protecting their possessions - and the much-vaunted "ownership Society" is all about violating the principles of capitalism to force more and more market risk onto the backs of the working poor and to insulate Rich Republicans (the "Leisure Class") from ever experiencing true financial "risk".
Furthermore, Rich Republicans do NOT seek to maintain a market atmosphere of "competition" - competition being anathema to Rich Republicans. No, Rich Republicans prefer to "game" the market, and they spend vast sums of other people's money and engage in violence to destroy their competition through buy-outs, frivolous lawsuits, intimidation, harassment and illegal wars.
This book is yet another among the many that intentionally mislead ignorant, conservative Americans about the true agenda of Rich Republicans.
Millionaire Republican is "Right On".......2006-06-27
Wayne,
Just got through reading Your Millionaire Republican book last night and I thought it was great. I had a smile on my face the entire time. My wife started reading it this morning and I'll be turning more people on to it.
My wife & I moved from the midwest 15 years ago and now live in the Mecca of liberal land, the bay area outside of SF. We wanted to go west. The people here are nuts and everything you said in your book about them is absolute true! We own a small business and have six investment homes, all being in red states with four more on the way. It's just a matter of a short time and were out of here.
Just wanted to drop you a line and say thanks. You go dude!
Follow this man to Wealth.......2006-06-10
I agree with other reviewers that the picture of Wayne standing on a roof is goofy. Keep in mind he has something to show for his hard work. Not that a large car and house make you successful (hell, anyone can lease a car or over extend themselves on mortgage payments), but he earned it. A lot of folks claim to be brilliant and know the ins and outs of book smarts, yet they are poor (e.g. government workers, so-called financial advisors, etc.).
Wayne is a little rough around the edges, but he is a project of Metro-NYC and the son of a hard working butcher. For NY guys like me, we appreciate successful self made guys like this.
Now for the book review, FANTASTIC! I read it on a flight from NY to FL and could not put it down. It will change your views (regardless of your political persuasions). You basically have two choices - curse all those who are successful, or become successful yourself.
This is not a get rich quick scheme book. It is a guide to what is important in life - religion, family values, business and learning to take care of yourself. It should be madatory reading in college. Perhaps more will understand why some will get ahead and others will fail.
You'll understand why do-gooders and those born with a silver spoon got ahead because they had someone backing them (i.e. easy to take risks). You'll also understand why these folks advocate taking your money away and giving it to others. Many of them can afford to play by different rules than you or me.
On the flip side, you'll understand how regular Joe's can achieve wealth is this great country. You'll understand why the populations are shifting and how tax and legislative policies will reshape our country. You'll learn to focus on what really matters and how to get involved in family's life and community, while still achieving your goals.
In my opinion, he's the first person I have read who accurately explains why an ego is important. Not as a tool to stomp on others, but as a positive motivational tool to get ahead honestly and professionaly.
Wayne will probably run for national office someday, and he has my vote. Read this book and he'll have yours too.

Book Description
A physicist and an economist, writing for a broad audience and using real--not theoretical--data, answer the age-old question: How rich is too rich? In the process, they suggest some practical solutions to the problem of excessive wealth. They outline a way to deal with the "too" rich that will also create a healthier economy. Merging a hundred years of economic theory and research on wealth and income distributions with anecdotal evidence, Herbert Inhaber and Sidney Carroll create a framework with which to evaluate proposals to redistribute great wealth and income. The authors set forth an "Alternative Distribution System," based on the fact that much of the income of the well-off, that upper 3 percent of the United States population with incomes exceeding $110,000 per year, is due to wealth. The ADS, an inheritance plan, would bring the distribution of the lower 97 percent and the upper 3 percent closer together. It would allow a partial correction of the disparity while adding to the total fairness of our society. This very readable text is complemented by a dozen tables that illustrate "The Power of Compound Interest," "United States Income Distribution," "The Estimated Size of the Domestic Underground Economy," and more. Inhaber and Carroll first describe the existence of an extremely unequal distribution of income and wealth, with enormous resources held by a small percentage of Americans at the top. Other chapters detail the law of income distribution, explain the difference between wealth and income, and explain previous theories of income and wealth distributions. In addition to defining and describing the rich, the authors devote a chapter to how the rich avoid income tax. The volume concludes with an examination of the Alternative Distribution System and how income would be altered by it. How Rich Is Too Rich? will enable the informed general reader to assess policies on wealth and income distribution that have been the subject of Congressional budget debates and best-selling books.

Book Description
Originally developed as a teaching tool for inner-city youth, this book, now revised and expanded, can help you identify the entrepreneur within and understand what it takes to develop an idea and make it a success.
Included are dozens of cleverly written profiles of such prominent contemporary entrepreneurs as:
Debbi Fields, Bill Gates, Spike Lee, Russell Simmons, Anita Roddick, and Liz Claiborne.
Each profile is generously illustrated and goes beyond the one-dimensional success story to provide a valuable lesson on what it takes to start a business and make it a success. Also includes a "Do You Have What it Takes?" quiz to help you decide if you are a natural entrepreneur.
Customer Reviews:
A Solid Effort!.......2001-03-27
How the rich got that way is an interesting enough topic. But an interesting topic does not necessarily make an intriguing book. Author Steve Mariotti profiles 20 well-known 20th-century entrepreneurs. You will easily recognize the names Bezos, Branson, Burrell, Kroc, Roddick, Walton, Ford and Winfrey. However, the author presents little new information about them. His profiles are short; three to four pages, and take the tone of corporate press releases. The book works best as a compendium of capitalist success stories, and we [...] recommend it as a student's primer in entrepreneurial studies. Since the author shares cover credit with the charitable program he launched to help low-income teen entrepreneurs, that might be just the audience that the author had in mind.

But I mainly wrote this review to aware you people, that this book has NOTHING about green day's stories, interviews, etc. All it has is the songs TAB, not a documentary. Amazing.......2000-03-31
An absolutely amazing read: probably the best book ever written. Travel with Ivan to Reno, NY and Yugoslavia and meet some of the scariest successful failures imaginable, and try to remember that it isn't fiction! These are portraits of our fallen heroes illuminated with Diogenes' halogen pen - yes, that really was ex-NY Jet superstar Mark Gastineau hoisting his teenage girlfriend's mom onto an exercise bike; yes, that really was the Godfather of Soul contrite before a local judge; and yes, it really was a bearded Bobby Fischer leading his circus into the war zone. Ivan has finally demonstrated his mastery of the craft, but God! I wish it were fiction. The Yankee stadium scene, with all of the unbelievable but utterly commonplace losers, hit home a little too hard. He has made a strong argument about neo-nihilist America, and it, ironically, is only his success as an author that counters it effectively.
An enjoyable glimpse into the lives of memorable people.......1998-06-26
I couldn't put this book down. My husband was reading it at the same time, and we actually bickered over whose turn it was to have the book. The author's insightful style of writing rendered the people he covered memorable and all too human. In the end, in was hard to decide which sketch was best--they were each unique and touching. I ended up ordering the book for friends. Some sketches were dark and disturbing, others hilarious and poignant, and all were thought-provoking. There seemed to be something in this book for everyone--and it's the type of book you wish would never end.

This text surveys the field of modern electronic media and beyond. Beyond, more than a word in the title, refers to the new technologies, regulations, programming, and competition that affect our world and the broadcasting industry. The authors of Broadcasting, Cable, the Internet and Beyond have three main goals for every edition: 1) to convey the excitement of the industry, 2) to provide a survey of the industry, and 3) presenting a readable text that makes even the most difficult information understandable. With new information and innovations added to an already strong foundation, this edition achieves each of these goals, again.

Customer Reviews:
30 minutes would be more helpful.......2007-06-20
While this book does cover a lot of important topics in C++ in a very short time, that's not necessarily a good thing. The format of the book is: new concept, example code, explanation of the example code. The biggest problem is that new stuff shows up in the example code that he doesn't bother to explain. Some of that stuff is then covered later, some of it isn't. Also, he uses the same code throughout, elaborating as each new concept is introduced. The problem is that sometimes the elaborations shown in the book won't work without other changes that aren't included. This may be his intent, as it gives you some debugging practice, but he definitely doesn't say so, and it gets a little confusing.
Change the title please.......2006-10-11
This book may be the best thing since sliced bread and canned beer, as many reviewers seem to have already pointed out.
However...the title is flat out misleading and is actually false advertizing.
Almost anyone who has tried to learn C++ thoroughly will shake their head and roll their eyes when they see the title of this book.
How about "Teach yourself C++ in many lessons - each of which could take you around 10 minutes (depending on how quickly you read and how much you really want to understand) though honestly, if you really want to learn C++ you probably need to read many additional books and spend at least 3 or 4 years programming in it."?
I eagerly await the publisher's next book: "Teach Yourself to speak Fluent Mandarin Chinese in 45 Seconds".
Expanding Languages.......2005-12-17
I am a Computer Science major, and I have been learning Java. Knowing that I need to learn more than one language I decided to pick up C++, and I bought this book because it was the cheapest that Sams Publishing had. The book surprised me because it was perfect for someone who had an intermediate level of knowledge about programming. It explains in detail what the syntax does, and therefore makes it helpful when relating the algorithms used in both languages. The lessons are also short so there is not a lot of unneeded jargon describing every little thing.
Generally solid - but..........2004-08-20
I found this book to be very useful. If you want to pick up some good, solid footing in C++, with or without a background in programming - this book is for you. The format is clean: 10 minutes or so at a time is perfect for getting into the office a little early and running through a lesson or two prior to commencing your workday. There is source code available on the books actual website on http://www.samspublishing.net, which helps this become a learning exercise, rather than a typing exercise, for those of you whom are advanced enough to just want to read solid source code.
I do find that by chapter 15 some of the examples start to get somewhat dicey: I can't always tell if I am supposed to be entering this code, or if it's only for discussion. Later in the "Listings" it's clear that it was NOT for discussion and I will need to enter it in order to make the examples work. That's fine - perhaps the author can use that format as a 'puzzle' if s/he so chooses. Just make me hip to the joke.
If you are using Visual C++.NET you may want to find a book SPECIFICALLY for that environment, as this is all standard C++. Nothing wrong with that, mind you - but the .NET environment may require a little more 'gear grinding and lever pulling' to mitigate trouble should you come across any, if my experience is any judge ;)
Informative but dry.......2004-02-14
Because learning programming is such a dry topic, it's really important that the author doesn't write in the same manner. I picked this book up having had no programing experience before and unfortunately this book didn't enlighten me as much as I had hoped it would. My displeasure isn't with the material in the book (which is very thorough considering its small size) but rather with its presentation. It was hard to stay focused on learning syntax when sifting through a barrage of technical terms and explanations. Also, the lessons do not build on one another as well as some other sources I've read since then. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone migrating from another language or anyone needing a refresher course. However, this book is not ideal for someone with no programming experience in the past. For that I would recommend the tutorials at www.cplusplus.com

Book Description
Sams Teach Yourself Year 2000 Crisis Survival in 10 Minutes is for the non-technical consumer--the person who asks "will I lose all of the money in my bank account" and "should I fly New Years Day". A brief and honest description details the impact of the Y2K problem on YOUR daily life, with ideas for preparing yourself that don't require moving to a cabin in Montana. With real information from real situations, you'll learn how dependent we are on technology, and how to avoid the most likely "inconveniences" of the Y2K problem.

- Relevant discussions of the Y2K's effects on your home PC, your bank account, Social Security, and whether the lights will go out
Customer Reviews:
This book is great! Easy to read and informative too........1999-05-18
This book does not exaggerate Y2K but rather gives a reasonable analysis and a set of preparation steps to consider. The author did a good of job of investigating the facts and separating them from the scare tactics that are prevalent elsewhere.
