Trade facilitation has formed a part of the WTO work program since 1996, though no significant progress has yet been made in launching negotiations, mainly due to the opposition of a number of developing countries. Following the failed Cancun meeting in 2003, WTO members formally agreed to commence negotiations on trade facilitation.

The main aim of the trade facilitation negotiations is to clarify and improve the provisions of three GATT 1994 articles—on freedom of transit, on fees and formalities connected with importation and exportation, and on the publication and administration of trade regulations—with a view to expediting the movement, release and clearance of goods through customs.

The negotiations also aim at providing technical assistance to developing and least developed countries with a view to strengthening their technical capacities for the application of innovative techniques and methods in the clearance of goods, and for the gradual acceptance of the obligations and new rules that may be adopted in the Doha Round. This book provides background information and identifies the points that may need further examination by the negotiating parties. It also contains suggestions on how the negotiating approaches adopted under other WTO Agreements (such as the Agreement on Customs Valuation, Rules of Origin, Technical Barriers to Trade and Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures), could be taken into account while developing new rules in this area.

Women on their nerves are world wide.......2007-02-16

Excellent book. The more honest book about psycology of women ever. I got it from a female friend, women enjoy it, but men will enjoy and learn from it.

From the book I learned and confirmed so much about being in a relationship with a woman (Mother, girlfriend, syster, daughter, wife, coworker). This book reflects in a humorous, concise and graphical way, the daily and simple adventures of modern women, while getting bottom line without offending anybody.

This book would prevent many problems between couples beforehand. Maitena goes deep into the reality of every possible serious situation from dating to parenting with the magic of creating laughs as eventually you will get yourself in it ( and hopefully safe out of it).

Maitena the argentinian female writer is a master of words and painting. I hope the english translation be ready soon.

Somtimes fascinating, sometimes boring.......2006-10-04

Fascinating, controversial, and simply unique people often have interesting things to say. That was one of the premises behind the founding of the nowadays discontinued magazine Seconds, which started out as a traditional obscure fanzine but matured over the years and in the end became quite influential. Few or any topics were too taboo for this magazine, and the journalists working on it soon built up a reputation for being extremely serious about their work. And it was indeed reflected in their articles.

Over the years, all sorts of strange and weird people were interviewed. Everything from White Power musicians to serial killers, controversial politicians, and bizarre artists and performers were interviewed, and a collection of the best and most interesting interviews eventually ended up in this book.

And it's a motley group of people, to say the least. Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan, is the only one who appears twice, the first interview from 1994 (by Michael Moynihan) and the second from 1997 (by Boyd Rice). As always LaVey has a lot on his mind, and the interviews are both a great read.

Two other Satanic "icons" appear: Marilyn Manson, in an interview from 1995 and "Count" Varg Quisling Vikernes from 1996. Manson's, Vikernes', and LaVey's sections are in sharp contrast to, for example, Lee "Scratch" Perry's stoned mumbling about pot and extraterrestrials and Charles Manson with his odd personality. Other people who appear are, among others, Glenn Danzig, serial killer Richard Ramirez, poet Allen Ginsburg, porno actor Ron Jeremy, director John Waters, and more.

Not all contributions are equally interesting; some are amazing while some are extremely dull and boring. Several of the interviewees are unknown to the great majority, and some of them fail miserably in catching the reader's interest, even though the quality of the interviews themselves is overall high.

The book ends with a large collection memorable quotes taken from the magazine's history, and all in all the book is worth checking out, because after all, unusual people often have unusual things to say; things you're not likely to read about in traditional mainstream magazines.

Should we take the idea of play seriously? Since the publication of Huizinga's Homo Ludens in 1938, a provocative literature has developed in philosophy and social science that does. Combs argues that we should understand play both as a generic concept with considerable power to explain human activity, and as a contemporary "procept" that demystifies some of the puzzling trends and innovations emerging in the quickly developing new social world of the 21st century. Combs explores the thesis that play has a central role in our understanding of human activity and social and political organization in the new millennium. He argues that the human desire for play is strong and given the continuation of certain major historical innovations now shaping the world, it may well be that 21st-century people will increasingly exercise their desire for play and that the world will increasingly be organized around the principle and practice of play. It may now seem a truism that people prefer to have fun, but that has not always been the case. If, as Combs argues, the preference for fun is becoming central to human activity, we need to explore why that preference is becoming dominant and what kind of social organization and consequences such a change entails. A provocative look at social change in the 20th century that will be of interest to scholars, students, and researchers of sociology and anthropology.

Truth is stranger than fiction, and more fun too.......2002-05-13

This book dates from the end of season 2, so if you're a fan, it won't tell you much about The X-Files that you don't already know. But the real point of the book is that the synopsis of each episode jumps off into a medium-long article discussing the science and history surrounding an issue or two in that episode. There's a load of cool stuff in this book, on subjects like chromosomes, forensic science, hypnosis, various folklores, the CIA, the circus, and what might happen when you get shot in the head. It's all interesting and fun to read, and will take you right back to how exciting it was when the show was just getting started. I only wish Ms. Genge had written similar books covering the other seasons!

Great book, but know what you're buying.......2000-08-03

I purchased this book knowing what was it was: an episode by episode examination of the bizarre phenomana that is present in each X-File. If you are interested to know how much of The X Files is real and how much is fake, this is definately worth the price. There is another book that exists (I believe it is The Science of The X Files, or a similar such title) that does not even come close to how absorbing, entertaining, and informative The Unofficial Guide is. If you are looking for an episode guide, find it elsewhere. The central theme of this book is The X Files in the real world, and if you are at all interested, buying this book will be well worth the price.

This aduio book was so well writen that I thought I was in an episode myself.

Okay this book wasn't what I expected it to be........1997-12-26

I expected total coverage of things about the show, but the book was mainly about strange true things that the show is based upon (ie. the episode about the eng twins is true). I recommend this to readers who enjoy reading background info. The book became boring at times and the writing wasn't that great. The portrayal was not as anywhere as good as the show itself. For real philes this isn't a must buy.

Not a must-have, but an interesting book.......1997-11-24

If you are looking for a book that explains the X-files, it certainly will dissappoint you. It is not a book about the serie itself, but about the things that makes the creators of the show write every ep. But if you are the curious type (like me), you will be glad to know about alien histories, strange beliefs, and so forth. Even thought I bought it expecting a deeper involvement with the serie, it came to be an interesting book.

For those of us who live in the blurred world of networking and telecommunications, Cisco System's Unity Unified Communications System is probably a product that is familiar to you, at least by name. Functioning as a unified messaging platform, Unity has enough range to function as standalone voicemail or tie voicemail into your existing e-mail system. As the primary messaging component of Cisco's AVVID solution, Unity is tied to many of the devices in the Cisco product line, most notably CallManager, a Voice over IP PBX system.

Cisco Unity Fundamentals is centered on version 4 of the application, doing a very notable job of covering the topics that concern those who have to work with Unity or may be considering it as a solution. The books is basically divided into two sections; Administration and Engineering. Unity Fundamentals starts by baby stepping through the concept of unified messaging for those who are new to the concept then step by step covers the setup, customization, and maintenance of Unity. Cisco supported best practices for topics like backup and account creation are covered under the Administration section, which makes the book handy as a quick reference in these matters.

Once into the Engineering section, almost every screen in the Web based application is covered, in addition to the large number of external tools that have been created by the Unity community for tasks not performed by the application itself. When discussing phone system integration the authors are very careful not to lean too hard towards CallManager, instead providing fairly generic instructions allowing for people who are using the twenty plus other PBX systems supported by Unity. One drawback of the book is that it is light on Microsoft Exchange, upon which Unity systems are based.

All in all this a good book for a topic that is generally covered in classroom based training, giving those of us who prefer to use independent methods for learning options. With the new Unity based certifications available this book will probably become very popular, but should not be used as a sole method for certification preparation due to its lack of covering the underlying applications like Microsoft Exchange and SQL. From the standpoint of those just wanting to administer an in place Unity system or get an overview of the system, you really couldn't ask for a whole lot more. By covering the system and its surrounding applications for multiple scenarios there is something for everyone in Cisco Unity Fundamentals.

The Underlying Theory Under Unity........2004-11-23

Unity is the official unified messaging system sold by Cisco. It integrates voice, voicemail, video and data through a single telephone line. It complements the full range of Cisco IP-Based voice solutions.

As the Fundamentals book in the seriesthis book is concerned with the basic environment the system establishes. This book gives the underlying theory along with the conceptual "here is what you can do" information so that the capabilities of the system can be fully understood during the planning phase. The Cisco Unity Deployment and Solutions Guide for how to set up and run the systems.

As is always the case tieh the Cisco books, the information given here is exhaustive and complete. Except that it's almost 400 pages long, this is what I call the first forty pages of the manual. It's the part that explains just it is that you are trying to do.
