The authors detail how the DM approach facilitates the brand planning process in a systematic and accessible way. Issues of patient flow dynamics, physician adoption and prescribing patterns, as well as evaluation frameworks for specific treatment regimens are thoroughly examined. A later chapter details the extension of the DM framework to issues of pipeline portfolio management using agent-based modeling techniques and uncertainty formulations.

Not just branding, but much more.......2007-05-07

When I purchased this book, I thought it would be an adaptation of branding techniques to the pharmaceutical products. In fact, it was different than I thought. The book illustrates very clearly and logically the dynamics of the pharmaceutical marketplace from three different perspectives; the ultimate consumer; patient, Doctors adoption of new drugs and the treatment attractiveness of the drug. Walking through the details would open to the reader a whole different perspective about the factors influencing the market shares. It acts as an eye opener, and evaluator, for a variety of marketing strategy that is properly targeted toward increasing market shares. Well, it all comes through explaining how dynamic modeling could be used to forecast new drug performance. For me, as a Market Researcher and Consultant, it would certainly help in providing better insights to our clients.

Here's a parody that had me laughing out loud as I read certain parts of it.

The author cleverly takes off on titles such as "French Women Don't Get Fat" and "Chic and Slim" in ways that offer some painful yet hilarious observations about the French and Francophiles.

I love all things French, and was delighted with this little gem of a book. The author takes little bits of truth about French culture, and turns the truth on its head.

Just keep in mind while you're reading: It's a JOKE!

Clever send-up of not only best-selling French Women Don't Get Fat but a skewering of all of French culture. I couldn't stop laughing all the way to the French bakery.

Excellent Beginning Dobro Book.......2004-05-15

Janet starts at the very beginning and covers all of the basic techniques including chords/theory, rolls, bar slants, and blocking.

The presentation is very straightforward - you get virtually nothing in the way of history/photos of the greats/analysis of influential player's styles. (See Stacy Phillips' "The Dobro Book" for that.) However, Janet is a very clear instructor and has the good sense to include tunes you will actually want to play if you are oriented towards bluegrass/old time country rooted playing.

I bought this book with the DVD and, although the production is a little grainy, the instructional value is first rate. It feels like Janet is giving you a private lesson in your living room. She's a very accomplished player, too.

I was almost put off by the cheesy cartoon cover, but it came highly recommended and now I understand why.

If you are a beginning dobro player, I think this is an ideal place to start.

Its a really enjoyable, well written, comprehensive book.
I did not order the CD...mistake. (I will as soon as I finish this).
My son is also learning the dobro and he has never heard of most of the tunes in the book.
I see it comes with a DVD as well as a CD...?
To put it at the top of the Dobro instructional mountain it needed one change.....
a spiral binding.
It's hard to sit down and open to a page and start playing...
But its' still really great.

This is an excellent book for the beginning dobro player. The book begins with simple exercises which may be quickly learned, and progresses quickly to more complex arrangements. The music is written in easy to learn tab form. The complete set of exercises and songs are available on cassette and CD, though I'd recommend the CD to make repeated playing of single tracks easy.

I only paid 1 cent for this book plus shipping, so I can't complain! It did arrive very fast, but had pink highlighting throughout and dog-eared pages. But like I said, for a penny, who cares!

It's excellent! It's a perfect book for someone like me who got dumped into the position of NetAdmin with very little knowledge of anything server related. I am flying by the seat of my pants and this book is my worthy, knowlegable co-pilot! It has been the one book that has saved our network from certain doom at the hands of a kicking and screaming newbie (no, i didn't want the job, it just fell to me...)

If you read it, it's just fantastic. Start at page one and go all the way through. I know it's not as fun as hanging out drinking a brew with the girlz (or boyz) but if you do it, you will reap the rewards. It will take you from newbie lack of confidence to having enough confidence to run your network AND you get enough about other technologies to know where to start looking for information if/when you need it.

Some of the reviews here are really negative. One person said that in no place did the book mention virtual directories. Well, I just did a search of the books contents right here on Amazon and it came up with 46 references to virtual directories. So I think that if people don't like this book it is because they aren't reading it.

So do yourself and your company a favor and just buy the book already. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I can only rate this with 5 starz cuz thats all Amazon offers, but I really mean 10. Okay? Buy it.

Not a good book on IIS : it describes , it does not explain.......2004-01-03

I bought this book in order to master IIS for my own web site and for those of my clients.
I am very disappointed.
This book has 486 pages and only 33 pages are covering one of the most important subject which is the IIS Web Server.
This book does not explain the things but describes them. For example, the chapter about the Web server is in fact nothing more than a description of the different menus : if you click on this menu than you'll click on this menu, if check that box than you'll check that box and so on.
Instead, I would have expected to have explanations of how to set up a web server: What is a home directory ? what is a virtual directory ? how it works ? why would you use them ?...
By the way, the book does not talk about this important notion of virtual directory (apart one line at the end of the book in appendix C).
On the other hand, the book has also many pages talking about subjects that are not directly related to its title.
Instead of talking about W2K Exchange 2000 or W2K Active Directory it would have been much more profitable to have a better explanation of how the IIS SMTP Server works.

There's few things in life more annoying than an overpriced techincal book, and this, friends is a first class example of that. I found this book worthless. I am still searching for the right one.

How did this book get such a high rating? The information that is covered, is done in such a shallow way that it barely passes as a short-hand outline of IIS. This book is a downright travesty, If this book is your only resource on IIS then you are in a world of hurt. And to all of those people who thought this book was packed with information, I feel so sorry for your employer - if your still employed.

I'm a webmaster who is dealing with IIS for the first time and I found this book to be utterly useless. Doesn't give much information about how or why things are done. It is basically a bunch of screen shots with shallow explainations of the different options. A waste of time and money.
