A Tool with Comprehensive Info in Form of Briefs.......2007-09-14
'Be Who You Are' provides an detailed look at the 16 Myers Briggs types. It is a highly useful tool for anyone who wants words to describe who he/she is. It promotes self-understanding through the opportunity to contrast and compare one's type with descriptions of other types.
On top of that, they add a description of how each Myers Briggs type develops over a life time... There is a pattern! This "life phase" section helps you understand your associate or friend. When you know his/her type and what life phase he/she is in, it really helps!
'Be Who You Are' is not a book for general readership, but is a gem for people setting a foundation for their careers and lives. As a tool, it needs to be studied, researched, and worked with, not just skimmed through. Not for shallow people seeking popular entertainment or a Glamor magazine questionnaire, although it reads easily and is fun to learn.
Myers Briggs is one tool of several that are needed to really understand yourself, your job, your career path, and your life. The Myers Briggs type is a great tool, and 'Be Who You Are' is an outstanding guide for that purpose. Highly recommended for people in transitions, confusion, or motivated to advance.
Know what you are... automatically you'll do what you are.......2007-09-03
Career + self help + self awareness
1-test to know your type
2- more info about deeper type functions and type developments with examples.
3-detailed and long case studies about each type
4-also ways for people who are in doubt to verify their type.
although the book seems big but you can go through it fast if you are reading about one type or two.
an important point here is that the book WILL NOT TELL you to be an architect for example... -although it may suggest so- simply because a site architect is totally different from a conceptualizer architect or a detailer...
Yet Another Briggs-Meyers Book (YABMB).......2007-08-14
I wish all Briggs-Meyers books used "Briggs-Meyers" in their titles so they could be distinguished from others. The abstract should come out and say that's what the book means by "Personality Type..." If it did, I must have missed it.
I was hoping for something deeper than a rehash of Briggs-Meyers.
Initially daunting.......2007-07-17
When first I saw this book, I thought, "I will never be able to read this whole thing!" I was wrong. The writing flows easily and the book is well organized and easily understood. It has been most helpful in my journey of self-discovery.
Helped my choose my major........2007-07-13
This book was really helpful. What made it different from other personality type books is the real world example. I could read one and say, "that's just like me!" or "that's not me at all". After I finished it, which didn't take very long, I knew what my strengths and weaknesses were. It even gave me a list of good jobs for people like me. For a college student who's trying to decide what they want to do career wise, this book helped seal the deal and choose a major. I highly suggest it to anyone who is unsure who they are or what they want to do.

A 'sherpa-like' guide to understanding what drives oneself.......2007-10-10
Whether you are just starting out on a job search or entering a 'mid-career' crisis, this book is a great way to dig deep inside oneself to help you find direction. Its easy to read and asks a lot of questions that we may not ask ourselves. Understanding personality type and how it may have an impact on our careers is a huge help in job satisfaction. It also helps you understand intellectually why you enjoy doing certain tasks and abhor others. Much like an automobile manual, this book helps people understand how they are 'wired' and why they approach life the way they do. You wouldn't expect an SUV to win a Nascar race nor would you expect a Ferrari to easily go 4 wheel driving. These cars would be able to do part of the tasks but not easily. People are no different. We are all unique in our make up. Different jobs/careers require different skill sets and attitudes. By understanding the principles behind 'Type' theory, you can better understand how you might 'fit' into certain job roles and how satisfying they may or may not be down the road. You also learn to pick up 'cues' from your colleagues and family members on their type which can be helpful in improving communications and understanding. All Types are equally important in this world and that is the real lesson here.
I enjoyed this workbook and have recommended it to many people over the past three years. I revisit it from time to time as a refresher. Its fun to read it at the same time as a friend so you can compare notes and get their perspective on how well your suspected personality type fits.
Outstanding with a new perspective.......2007-09-17
This book approaches career planning from a fresh perspective - what your basic personality is. I found this an encouraging and particularly helpful approach to thinking about and planning my career.
Best Purchase Ever.......2007-09-15
This book changed the way I saw myself and helped me understand a lot about myself. Getting back to the workforce after being a stay-at-home mom is nerve racking. Reading this book not only gave me the confidence that I needed, but guided me to the right job for me. Even if you are in a job already, and hate it, this book is for you. You can find out why you hate your job, and what you can do to make it work or change your job to satisfy your natural abilities. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this wonderful book, authors!
UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF OTHERS, YOUR EMPLOYER.......2007-02-05
Imagine yourself already in the job. Talk about your accomplishments and what you can offer your employer.
Learn about Myers Briggs without a professional!.......2007-01-29
This boook allows a person who does not have the money, or possibly the time, to sit down with a professional to gain an understanding of himself and others.
I borrowed this book from the library and found out everything I needed.I suggest you borrow the book before you buy it if you can.
I will probably buy the book at some future time as it can be useful to anyone who has a half hour.
Using the book I developed a quick set of questions which others can take and make the process much faster. The results have been right on!

Book Description
From Catastrophe to Chaos: A General Theory of Economic
Discontinuities presents and unusual perspective on economics and economic analysis. Current economic theory largely depends upon assuming that the world is fundamentally continuous. However, an increasing amount of economic research has been done using approaches that allow for discontinuities such as catastrophe theory, chaos theory, synergetics, and fractal geometry. The spread of such approaches across a variety of disciplines of thought has constituted a virtual intellectual revolution in recent years. This book reviews the applications of these approaches in various subdisciplines of economics and draws upon past economic thinkers to develop an integrated view of economics as a whole from the perspective of inherent discontinuity.

Book Description
This book sets out the foundations of Post Keynesian price theory. Frederic Lee examines the administered, normal cost and mark up price doctrines associated with Post Keynesian economics; he then draws upon those doctrines and previous empirical studies to develop the pricing and production foundations of the theory. This is the only book that is solely concerned with Post Keynesian price theory and its foundations, and represents a major contributon to the literature of post-Keynesian economics.
Download Description
Frederic Lee sets out the foundations of a post-Keynesian price theory through developing an empirically grounded production schema. The administered, normal cost, and mark up price doctrines are explained in parts I-III of the book, as many of their theoretical arguments are important for developing the foundations. This involves discussing the work of Gardiner Means, Philip Andrews, and Michal Kalecki, as well as the developers of the doctrines, such as Edwin Nourse, Paolo Sylos Labini, Harry Edwards, Josef Steindl, and Alfred Eisner. Drawing upon the arguments and formal modelling offered by the doctrines, in conjunction with empirical evidence from one hundred studies on pricing and production, Dr Lee develops an empirically grounded pricing model and production schema. He argues that the model and the schema together constitute the foundations for post-Keynesian price theory.

A book for those who can't understand ch.20 of Keynes'sGT.......2005-03-24
This book is the net result of nearly sixty years of confusion about the microeconomic foundations of the General Theory created by Richard Kahn(RK) and Joan(JR) and Austin Robinson(AR).Essentially, the author of this book blends the administered pricing approach of Gardinar Means, the normal cost pricing approach of Philip Andrews, and the mark up pricing approach of Michal Kalecki and later assorted Cambridge Keynesians into a consistent non neoclassical microeconomic theory that is supposed to allow post keynesians to present a unified front in their microeconomic foundations.Unfortunately, the economics of John Maynard Keynes becomes completely irrelevant because the theory of effective demand and the existence of involuntary unemployment is completely independent of the theory of the firm and/or price theory,be it classical, neoclassical, post keynesian,Kaleckian, non neoclassical, etc.Lee is implicitly basing the need for his clarifying exposition in this book on the claim, repeatedly made by JR,AR, and RK over a 60 year period ,that Keynes failed to support his macroeconomic theory of effective demand with any rigorous microeconomic foundation in price or value theory,a price or value theory which should have been imperfectly competitive in order to be realistic.Keynes provided a completely consistent and rigorous microeconomic foundation for his theory of effective demand based on the theory of purely competitive firms. The mathematical structure of both Keynes's pure competition and A C Pigou's free competition, assumed in his 1933 book,The Theory of Unemployment is, of course, the same as that of perfect competition.Keynes's general theory result, obtained from chapter 10,p116,ft.2 and chapter 20,p.283,ft.2and discussed by Keynes in his comparison-contrast of his mathematical model with that of Pigou's mathematical model in the appendix to chapter 19 of the GT,is that a macroscopic general equilibrium that is optimal is given by the condition that w/p=mpl/(mpc+mpi),where w/p equals the real wage, mpl equals the marginal product of labor, mpc equals the marginal propensity to spend on consumption goods, and mpi equals the marginal propensity to spend on investment goods. If the mpc+mpi=1,Keynes's theory merges with the classical and the neoclassical theories.Onthe other hand,if mpc+mpi
<1,the result will be an unemployment equilibrium with some level of involuntary unemployment.Keynes established the existence of multiple equilibria as the general result to be expected in a capitalist economy with its highly unstable, volatile, uncertain investment sector.None of these Keynesian results are duplicated in Lee's theory. In fact,it is impossible to derive any such result from any kind of imperfect competition theory such as Lee's.Lee can,of course, integrate Keynes's chapter 20 into his model. However, that result is independent of any microeconomic theory.

Book Description
This timely book explores the defining features of post Keynesian economics through an examination of pricing, and empirically investigates pricing behavior from the post Keynesian point of view. Paul Downward uses a synthesis of ideas from realist philosophy and methodology to explore post Keynesian pricing theory. He identifies a coherent core of post Keynesian pricing theory, strongly supported by a wide range of evidence. The author critically reviews and extends both the econometric and the non-econometric evidence as a basis of understanding the causal processes of pricing. Taking into account Keynes's notions of the 'weight of evidence' and 'negative analogy,' the post Keynesian account of pricing offered in the book appears compelling. The evidence presented will raise substantial questions about neoclassical accounts of pricing.
This book will be required reading for those interested in post Keynesian economics, methodology, behavioral economics and institutional economics as well as for marketing and management theorists and those generally interested in pricing decisions.

Product Description
This is the warts-and-all story of Spacemen 3 - the backwater band forged from the collaborations of Pete Sonic Boom Kember and Jason Spaceman Pierce. Erik MOrse s book recounts the highs and lows of a fringe outfit whose brief history was characterized by excess, overdose, ambition and the hypnotic trance of tremolo drones. Spacemen 3 had more than its share of psychedelic experimentation and heroin addiction before it finally burned out...but before it did Kember and Pierce s group gave the world a bracing antidote to early 80s synthesizer pop. Spacemen 3 were a shot in the arm - in every sense - and the book goes on to give an incisive history of the mid 80s British indie-rock scene they energized and influenced. Contains discography for Spacemen 3 plus details of early releases from spinoff bands Spectrum and Spiritualized.
Customer Reviews:
The Spacemen have landed, December 9, 2004.......2005-10-27
This is a great in depth look at the career of Late Eighties Drone rockers Spacemen 3. Starting with the initial stumbling inception of the band in Rugby going through their near break trhough success and ending with the dissolution of the band and the start of Spectrum and Spiritualised.
The author tells the story well allthough its quite clear Jason Pierce was not consultedthat much as his quotes seem to be culled from old interviews. But the book is not entirely from Pete Kembers' point of view as all the ex members are on hand to voice their version of events!
Spacemen 3 are one of my favourite bands but this book has infomed me graetly, I also didnt get to see them live but the description of the live performances and the music nearly makes up for it.
A couple of minor gripes Waterman Art Centre is not in Hammersmith but Brentford. And the ending Chapters concerning Spiritualised are a bit hurried and brief, its as though the author didn't know where to end his story.
A great book I was expecting a thin pamphlet not a 300 page masterpeice. Buy it and read whilst listening to all their albums and enjoy the trip!
Warts 'n All Tale of Rugby's own MC5.......2005-10-27
From Uncut Magazine: At their peak Spacemen 3 could probably outdrug The Happy Mondays at the Drug Olympics. Indeed, the author thoughtfully includes an inventory of gear, both electrical and pharmaceutical, at the outset, butane and methamphetamine being as crucial to the Spacemen oeuvre as the Casio, the Korg and the Vox Tone Bender. It's a typically small town English tale of well bred young hedonists transcending their environment and their record collection to become one of the most spellbinding and influential noise bands of the late 1980s.
All the more remarkable, then, that the author is based in New York. Aside from a couple of minor lapses - "pissed" for "pissed off", that kind of thing - you would have assumed he'd spent his life thumbing a ride between The Old Five Bells Northampton and the Rugby methadone clinic, so accurately rendered is the local colour. The central characters, Jason Pierce and Pete "Sonic" Kember, are compellingly drawn, and as destined to fall out it seems as Richard Hell and Tom Verlaine. And while you get the impression that Morse was able to gain Sonic's trust more readily than Jason's, he's to be congratulated for conveying every last addled nuance of this utterly captivating story.
When?.......2005-01-24
We've been waiting for such a long time for this book. Can we please have an accurate release date? Thank you.
It's longer than that..........2004-12-11
Come on...It's 304 pages...Let's give the people accurate information. Great book.

Description:
Assemblages of hydrophilic microfauna (nematodes, rotifers and tardigrades) in moss-cushions from four ice-free mountain peaks (nunataks) in East Antarctica were studied. Nematodes occurred in 64%, tardigrades in 32% and rotifers in 82% of 91 samples taken in moss. No animals were found in 8% of the samples. The differences in occurrence of animals among cushions are probably due to stochastic colonization processes. The structure of nematode populations indicates that they exhibit different developmental stages in the various samples. Competition or predation appears to influence the abundances of coexisting populations. Predation by tardigrades on rotifers might occur, while the nematodes appear to be competitors rather than preys of the tardigrades.

Customer Reviews:
Almost a perfect book........2005-03-22
While all books have their own flaws, this one is the least of my favorites about TV westerns. Why? Because I keep finding errors in the pages. Compare this book to other reference works. The Have Gun Will Travel episode listing in this book has wrong titles, a couple mis-spelled, and wrong dates for a few entries. I compared it to the Have Gun Will Travel Companion by Grams and Wikstrom (which lists the dates the episodes were filmed - it's that detailed!) and they are far more accurate. Granted, there is conflicting material between the two, but evidence such as dates of filming and production numbers and that sort suggest this McFarland book of TV episode guides to be as accurate as anything you find on the web (and strangely enough, an almost duplicate of what tvtome offers). But owning this book is worth a quick reference if not looking for pure accuracy. Price is steep, but recommended.
A "must have" for any fan of the TV Western era!.......1999-01-11
I picked up this book when it first came out in hardcover years ago, and I'm glad to see it is once again available --- my original copy is nearly worn out! It's not only well-written and well-researched, it will also reawaken warm memories of years gone by for any baby-boomer who grew up in the days when TV westerns were the bread and butter of family entertainment. An excellent, comprehensive thumbnail guide to TV westerns!

Customer Reviews:
Decent wordy book about basic concepts.......2006-08-14
I am not sure how to classify this book! Is it a book for a manager? Maybe! Is it a book for a developer new to mobile application development? Not quite! Is it a book for a hardcore technologist (architect, sr developer, product manager, etc)? Definitely not so.
The content of the book is definitely dated (as of 2006). But, I wouldn't blame the author for this. The field of mobile apps is moving very rapidly. There is a lot of confusion, but, a lot of the smoke is also clearing up. Interesting initiatives like OMA are taking center stage in "clearing up the smoke".
The book is way easy to read. But, that's because it has zero technical content. The book touches a lot of interesting technologies, but doesn't provide details on any. It is my belief that the author could have summarized most of the book in maybe 50 pages, or even less!
The book's biggest value is for somebody new to the field. Its a very quick read. There are tons of web links (again dated, but, some very relevant even today) to consortia, forums, companies involved in mobile application development. I was really hoping that the author would put this list online. But, I haven't found anything similar after searching on the author's name in google.
I usually don't read books word-by-word, line-by-line. I try to grasp the big concepts on the first read. This makes me the worst person to find grammatical mistakes in documents/books. But, even I could find grammatical mistakes on the first (and only) read of this book. The editors need to do a better job next time (if there is a next time).
A fabulous book.......2006-03-10
The author seems to be quite articulate to cover a lot of interrelated topics. For each topic, the book provides a nice review of the background information to bring readers to the same page, and then discusses the real issue in load balance context and presents the solutions. The book is also very easy to read as it is concise and to the point.
Good introductory to the wireless world.......2005-10-19
This book is mostly intended for non-technical people looking for a gentle introduction to the wireless/mobile devices world with a comprehensive survey of the existing technologies.
Confused by acronyms like GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, WAP, WI-FI, Bluetooth? This book will cover all that and much more. The author did a fine job by carefully and systematically explained the key wireless technologies in a high-level manner that appeals to a broader audience. Engineers and developers will be disappointed though by the lack of code samples, mobile development strategies and discussion of current mobile devices specifications
Delivers what it promises -Great overview of Mobile Industry.......2005-04-27
This book delivers a comprehensive look at mobile computing. It gives an overview of devices, networks and security before going in depth on designing applications. It is not a book that has source code for techies, but rather is a perfect reference for people who are looking to learn about mobile and wireless. It saved me hour after hour of research from sometimes questionable Internet sources.
Very ordinary.......2005-04-12
this should be named as mobile and wireless glossary. it's not beyond that. no in depth analysis of design issues or technologies related to wireless and mobile industry. not good for wireless/mobile techies. will recommend to sales people who want to have very high level idea about this field.
