In complementarity theory, which is a relatively new domain of applied mathematics, several kinds of mathematical models and problems related to the study of equilibrium are considered from the point of view of physics as well as economics. In this book the authors have combined complementarity theory, equilibrium of economical systems, and efficiency in Pareto's sense. The authors discuss the use of complementarity theory in the study of equilibrium of economic systems and present results they have obtained. In addition the authors present several new results in complementarity theory and several numerical methods for solving complementarity problems associated with the study of economic equilibrium. The most important notions of Pareto efficiency are also presented.
Audience: Researchers and graduate students interested in complementarity theory, in economics, in optimization, and in applied mathematics.

I borrowed this book(both volumns) from U of Chicago Library and read it carefully. It provides very good information on variational inequalities of different kinds. It's easy to read and follow. I like it so much and that's why I search this book in amazon to buy one for myself.

The North American natural gas market has seen significant changes recently due to deregulation and restructuring. For example, third party marketers can contract for transportation and purchase of gas to sell to end-users. While the intent was a more competitive market, the potential for market power exists. We analyze this market using a linear complementarity equilibrium model including producers, storage and peak gas operators, third party marketers and four end-use sectors. The marketers are depicted as Nash-Cournot players determining supply to meet end-use consumption, all other players are in perfect competition. Results based on National Petroleum Council scenarios are presented.

We analyze a version of the Mizuno-Todd-Ye predictor-corrector interior point algorithm for the P"*(@k)-matrix linear complementarity problem (LCP). We assume the existence of a strictly positive feasible solution. Our version of the Mizuno-Todd-Ye predictor-corrector algorithm is a generalization of Potra's [F.A. Potra, The Mizuno-Todd-Ye algorithm in a larger neighborhood of the central path, European Journal of Operational Research 143 (2002) 257-267] results on the LCP with P"*(@k)-matrices. We are using a @?v^-^1-v@? proximity measure like Potra to derive iteration complexity result for this algorithm . Our algorithm is different from Miao's method [J. Miao, A quadratically convergent O((@k+1)nL)-iteration algorithm for the P"*(@k)-matrix linear complementarity problem, Mathematical Programming 69 (1995) 355-368] in both the proximity measure used and the way of updating the centrality parameter. Our analysis is easier than the previously stated results. We also show that the iteration complexity of our algorithm is O((1+@k)^3^2nL).

In this paper, S. Zhang's [Eur. J. Oper. Res. 116 (1999) 607] new and more flexible criss-cross type algorithms (with LIFO and most-often-selected-variable pivot rules) are generalized for linearly constrained convex primal-dual quadratic programming problems. These criss-cross type algorithms are different from the one described in Klafszky and Terlaky [Math. Oper. und Stat. Ser. Optim. 24 (1992) 127]. Even though the finiteness proof of these new criss-cross type algorithms is similar to the original one for the algorithm of Klafszky and Terlaky (in the sense that both these proofs are based on the orthogonality theorem), more cases have to be considered due to the flexibility of pivot (LIFO/most-often-selected-variable) rules, which requires a deeper and more careful analysis. When the primal-dual problem is a linear programming problem (no quadratic terms in the objective function), the structure of the corresponding linear complementarity problem is simpler (i.e. the matrix of the problem is skew-symmetric). For such problem pairs, our proof of finiteness simplifies to the proof of Illes and Meszaros' [Yugoslav J. Oper. Res. 11 (2001) 17] and provides a new finiteness proof for S. Zhang's criss-cross type algorithms.

This book combines descriptive, technical, empirical, policy evaluation, and forecasting methodologies to provide a systematic analysis of the the Nigerian economy--the largest and most dominant economy in sub-Saharan Africa. The author develops and tests an integrated macroeconomic input-output model of the economy's workings, using it to explain Nigeria's recent economic growth and development and to forecast the country's future growth prospects. The model also enables Oshikoya to provide a source of information on estimates of the structural parameters of the Nigerian economy; to evaluate the role of government policy in determining general levels of economic activity; to study the relationships among the major economic variables and the determinants of their magnitudes, composition, and rates of change over time; and to examine the impacts of such factors as fluctuations in the world petroleum market, technological change, and external debt accumulation on economic growth in Nigeria. An ideal supplemental text for courses in development economics, this volume will also be of significant assistance in the design, formulation, and evaluation of macro-policy initiatives, forecasting, and development planning for Nigeria. Following an introductory overview, the author provides a detailed descriptive analysis of the Nigerian economy, focusing particular attention on its basic structure and the policies and events which have contributed to recent growth. He then provides a theoretical model of the Nigerian economy and presents an econometric estimation of the input-output model. A separate chapter demonstrates the model validation techniques used in the study and evaluates the tracking ability of the complete model in a historical context. Finally, the author projects growth patterns for the Nigerian economy from 1984 to 2000 and offers an extended discussion of the impact of external borrowing on the economy's current and future growth prospects. In his conclusion, Oshikoya points to the need to adapt empirical models to the special conditions of developing countries and calls for such policy suggestions as a stabilization fund to minimize the impact of cyclical oil revenue patterns on the economy, a higher priority for investment in agriculture, and a relaxation of external debt constraints.

This is a terrific compilation of text and illustrations chronicling America's unending quest for personal perfection. As I read through it, I was constantly getting "nostalgia hits," as well as fascinating information on this fascinating subject. Ms. Trontz has clearly devoted much work to this book and struck the perfect balance between pictures and text. The book has a lot of "show," but a lot of "go", as well. I couldn't put it down. The copy at the center of my coffee table is dogearred, now, and I've bought many for my friends. It makes a very reasonable, appreciated gift. Highly recommended.

I was disappointed, but maybe that is my fault. Many music sheets were listed, with values. But there was virtually no editorial matter about the hobby in general -- nothing on price trends, determinents of value, reproductions, collecting, storing, arranging, buying and selling, etc. Very little 19th century or high-priced stuff. Mostly a book of lists, which would be useful for many collectors.

This 320 page volume contains over 13,000 listings of sheet music! There are over 300 full color pictures of sheet music covers and prices updated for the year 2,000. In addition to the alphabetical listing of songs and current prices, there are chapters on Cover Artists, Performers & Composers, Misc. categories ranging from advertising, black face, military, to patriotic, sports and WW I and II. There isn't a lot of back ground information, but a ton of listings, dates and prices. A valuable reference source for sheet music collectors.

I just purchased this book from Amazon.com. and thought it was an excellant guide, however I am new collector of WW II sheet music and was disappointed that there were not more Titles available for this period of time out of 140 sheets I could not find reference to 47 of them, The book still is a great asset to all us collectors'.

From the first time Bob Cousy picked up a basketball he fell in love with the game. He played all day and night and mastered his craft until he became great. Little did he know that all this practice would eventually lead him to a professional basketball career after college and make him a lot wealthier in the future.
Bob Cousy played college basketball at Holy Cross where he was a star point guard. After spending four years there he went on to be drafted by the Boston Celtics of the NBA. There he, alongside Coach Red Auerbach and all-star Bill Russell, won 8 championship titles in a row during his long career. After retirement he came back briefly as a coach for the Kansas City/Omaha Royals. With all the failure he had there he decided to resign and become a GM. Both jobs gave him a lot of income and he lived happily with his family.
Cousy on the Celtic Mystique was an interesting autobiography on the life and opinions of Bob Cousy. One of the good features was the action depicted through the detailed writing. In addition, the book was very elaborate. A lot of personal memories from Cousy's life were used to let the reader really get to know Cousy. Also various statistics from his basketball career were used to describe the way he played, once again letting the reader know a lot about Cousy, Another good feature was along that with telling the events in his life he also wrote about other players who, at the time of writing, were currently stars of the league. These things together provide for a detailed, action-packed story that no reader will want to miss out on.

The action-packed writing was the main thing that kept me reading the book. There was a few times where Cousy would recall upon game situations and describe them vividly so that I could picture them in my head. For example, in one of them he describes how his defenders were positioned on the court and how he had dribbled through them and around them in almost every aspect you could think of.
This kind of elaboration was another reason I enjoyed the book. Not only were Cousy's memories detailed but also were his stats were which enabled the reader to have a clear impression of who he was and how he lived.
These memories coupled with his personal opinions lets the reader really get to know Bob Cousy. For example, while discussing his time as head coach of the Kings he tells about how miserable he felt through the multiple losing seasons and how he felt his star player, Nate Archibald, needed more support players to help him win games.

As you can tell, all of the strengths of the book either connect or complement each other which makes it a very good book overall that will appeal to a wide fan-base. The basketball fans will enjoy the basketball action and opinions, while the book fans will enjoy the description and vivid writing. Together these components make Cousy on the Celtic Mystique an interesting read for whoever picks it up.

Buy it!.......2006-01-30

Judging from the other reviews, I wasn't too sure what to expect from this book, and I must admit that I found myself pleasantly suprised. Most wrestling books like Flair's and Russo's, whilst they're interesting reads and worth reading in their own right, do come off as being kind of full of sh-t when it comes to certain people or aspects of their careers that they just bury outright for no real reason other than ego. Jerry Jarrett on the other hand comes across as very sincere, and doesn't so much bury folks as offer constructive criticism which is a nice change of pace. This book is a brutally honest portrayal of the wrestling business that is a must read for anyone interested in the backstage goings-on. More than that however, this is also a book about one man's views on life, religion and relationships that comes across very emotively (if such a word exists) and eloquently.
If you're thinking "hhmmmm, should I buy it, I dont know if I can be bothered to read the same thing about how vince is evil and how mistreated this guy was" don't worry, this isn't ur usual fare in terms of wrestling biographies. Buy it and find out for urself, you won't regret it.

Unique Is The Best Word ..........2005-01-31

I'm a long time wrestling fan, and an avid reader. Seeing that professional wrestling is a passion of mine, I try and read as many books on the business that I can. I had heard some interesting things about The Story of the Development of the NWATNA through the grapevine, so my interest was peaked when it finally arrived at my door.

This book is written in journal form, since it is actually Jerry Jarrett's personal journal ... complete with typos and grammatical errors. It reminds me of the online "Live Journals" that are popular with alot of the independant wrestlers nowadays. This style makes the read different, it makes the reader feel as if they're taking the journey with Jerry. In that sense the book is unique, but that style gets old rather quickly.

All in all this is an easy read, but it jumps around too much. One can't really blame Jerry Jarrett for that since he initially wrote this journal for his own personal pleasure, not for the entertainment of others. To further prove that, on many occasions throughout the book he mentions how the story he is currently ( at the time ) living would, "make a great book someday".

You see the range of emotions from Jerry that any person that goes through stress deals with. If there is one thing that I can praise this book for, it is making the author seem "more human". You don't see Jerry Jarrett as a millionaire with a legendary mind for the world of professional wrestling, you see him as a father, a husband, a friend, and a businessman. I would venture to say that this is one of the most intimate wrestling books, mainly because it was not initially written for national distribution, and that in and of itself is an accomplisment and sets this book apart.

The downsides to this book is the jumping from story to story. There are too many characters to truly follow and at times too much going on to comprehend. I'm sure this didn't come across as such when Jerry wrote the journal, since he lived it and didn't intend on wrestling fans reading it, but it comes across that way to the reader. The positive side however is that this is a unique and intimate journey with Jerry done in a style that has not been utilized in previous wrestling related books.

This is a book for the passionate wrestling fan, that's about all that would enjoy it, and even some of them may find the rambunctious nature of the book a little less than appealing. All in all it's a middle of the road book for me. You enjoy it while you're reading it, but you're not horribly disappointed when you finish.

Electronic musicians and composers will create songs or loops only minutes after launching the software with this guide to FL Studio (formerly Fruity Loops), a complete virtual studio application. How to streamline the recording of multitrack musical compositions is explained in order to create complex songs and realistic guitar loops with 32-bit internal mixing and advanced MIDI support. Musicians are then shown how the resulting song or loop can be exported to a WAV/MP3 file and how MIDI events can be exported to a standard MIDI file. Preparing FL Studio for effective work, carrying out the main operations, building patterns in Step Sequencer, creating a melody in the Piano Roll view, and assembling and mixing a composition using Playlist and Mixer are also described.

Terribly written. could have been much more - perhaps like a recipe type tutorial book. Vague steps-by-steps... Information readily and freely available on the internet.

Not Helpful to Beginners and Worthless to Advanced Users.......2006-10-10

Petelin and Petelin have created a very well-padded book (it contains more useful information on several VSTi plugins that can be used with FL Studio than it does for FL Studio itself) that is very spare on useful information having to do with using FL Studio. Most of the FL Studio related content is handled better by Image Line's own FL Studio help file and the tutorial videos available to all registered users on the FL Studio website.

Arranged more like a help file than a book, this manuscript simply covers the basic functions of FL Studio in rudimentary fashion, never really explaining in depth exactly how to use the tools found in the program. For example, if one turns to the scant index looking for mention of how to record, one finds only one mention of recording and that is "recording the guitar." If you turn to that page (237), you'll find only a few paragraphs about recording guitar, in general and no mention of how to do so in FL Studio. Since the basic function of FL Studio is that of a recording environment, this is an inexcusable omission. There is almost nothing in this book that would tell a beginning user how to begin recording multitrack compositions and that is what most users are going to buy the book expecting to learn.

Since the book is of no use to beginners, I can assure you that no experienced user of FL Studio is going to find anything new or helpful here, either. Better to read the Loop Talk message board on the FL Studio website, where you can find tips and tricks galore, as well as ready answers to your questions about FL Studio.

Trying to glean any useful information from this book that can get you started making music in FL Studio is a highly frustrating experience. I consider my time spent doing so a complete waste and my money wasted, as well.
