Book Description
An economic policy always relies on diagnosis about spontaneous trends and about the likely impact of alternative government decisions. Unemployment was the main problem faced by policy makers during the past two decades. During that period the author devoted most of his time either to observation and diagnosis or to the analysis of macroeconomic factors of unemployment. This book presents what was learned from this experience, particularly on diagnosing unemployment trends and assessing the effects of real wages on investment and employment.

Book Description
The focus of this book is on clarifying the mathematical and statistical foundations of econometrics. Therefore, the text provides all the proofs, or at least motivations if proofs are too complicated, of the mathematical and statistical results necessary for understanding modern econometric theory. In this respect, it differs from other econometrics textbooks.
Download Description
This book is intended for use in a rigorous introductory PhD level course in econometrics, or in a field course in econometric theory. It covers the measure-theoretical foundation of probability theory, the multivariate normal distribution with its application to classical linear regression analysis, various laws of large numbers, central limit theorems and related results for independent random variables as well as for stationary time series, with applications to asymptotic inference of M-estimators, and maximum likelihood theory. Some chapters have their own appendices containing the more advanced topics and/or difficult proofs. Moreover, there are three appendices with material that is supposed to be known. Appendix I contains a comprehensive review of linear algebra, including all the proofs. Appendix II reviews a variety of mathematical topics and concepts that are used throughout the main text, and Appendix III reviews complex analysis. Therefore, this book is uniquely self-contained.
Book Description
The central goal of this text is to address all of the fundamental macroeconomic theories and policy issues in the discipline within a compact and highly accessible text. It features a strong focus on instilling a learner's conceptual understanding of the discipline through a wealth of pedagogically sound features designed to teach and reinforce the material. This is the only intermediate macroeconomics text that fully integrates global economics from the very beginning. Additionally, it is also the first and only text on the market to offer a fully-integrated program of accompanying online resources and multimedia tools that enhance a reader's study of macroeconomic theory.

Book Description
This text provides a sophisticated and comprehensive treatment of intermediate macroeconomic theory. It focuses on helping the reader understand macroeconomic theory and how to apply it to important business, policy, and global issues. Management, policy, and international applications are integrated throughout. In addition, the latest technology tools enhance reader understanding of macroeconomics.
Book Description
This updated edition of Graham Bird's introductory text on international macroeconomics is concerned with monetary, fiscal, and exchange rate issues and policy as they affect individual countries in the global economy, rather than with issues of comparative advantage and international trade. As such, it is something of a hybrid between macroeconomics and international economics. The text acts as a brief and accessible guide to the key issues in international macroeconomics. This new edition is fully updated to reflect recent events exemplifying key themes in the subject. These include: the ups and downs of the US dollar in the 1990s and the US's balance of payment problems, the East Asia crisis of the late 1990s, and the establishment and development of the Euro.

Book Description
arsenalpulp.com :
Joe Keithley, aka Joey Shithead, founded legendary punk pioneers D.O.A. in 1978. Punk kings who spread counterculture around the world, they've been cited as influences by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Rancid, and The Offspring, and have toured with The Clash, The Ramones, The Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Nirvana, PiL, Minor Threat, and others, and are the subject of two tribute albums.
But punk is more than a style of music: it's a political act, and D.O.A. have always had a social conscience, having performed in support of Greenpeace, women's rape/crisis centres, prisoner rights, and anti-nuke and anti-globalization organizations. Twenty-five years later D.O.A. can claim sales of more than 500,000 copies of their eleven albums and tours in thirty different countries, and they are still going strong.
I, Shithead is Joe's recollections of a life in punk, starting with a bunch of kids in Burnaby transfixed with the burgeoning punk movement, and traversing a generation disillusioned with the status quo: stories of riots, drinking, travelling, playing, and conquering all manner of obstacles through sheer determination. And through it all, Joe reveals that the famous D.O.A. slogan, talk - action = 0 is, for him, more than a soundbyte.
With an introduction by music producer Jack Rabid, publisher of seminal New York music magazine Big Takeover.

Customer Reviews:
"The absolute spirit of those amazing punk rock times.".......2005-05-28
"I, Shithead: A Life in Punk" written by Joey Keithley (AKA Joey Shithead) charts the story of the Canadian punk band, D.O.A. This is the story of how one band with no money, no equipment, but with an unbeatable desire to succeed, became one of the great names in punk history.
The book begins in 1978, and Keithley has dropped out of university. A heightened, early political awareness led to Keithley's previous ambition to be a civil rights lawyer, but a feeling that he didn't fit in caused him to dump that plan and turn back to his love of music. With his old band The Skulls now defunct, Keithley found himself back home in Vancouver. Keithley had tried making a go of various bands in the early 70s. Stone Crazy and The Skulls were two early bands, and Keithley tells one hilarious story of how The Skulls spent one arduous weekend with Satan's Angels.
1978 was a pivotal year for the band. D.O.A competed at the Battle of the Bands in Vancouver, and played the first Vancouver outdoor anarcho-punk event which also featured the Sub-Humans. Also in 1978, Keithley founded Sudden Death records, and released the first D.O.A album, Disco Sucks. This was not the start of a glitzy rock star career. This was just the beginning of the band's long hard slog into the Punk Hall of Fame.
The thing that impressed me the most about the book is the way the author sincerely conveys that there was no soft road to success for the band. Keithley details road trips and tours with cold, underpaid, hungry band members. Once, for example, D.O.A was offered a mere $100 to play with The Clash--even though the plane tickets cost more than that. Years passed, band members came and went, and Keithley charts it all. Readers should not expect a tawdry gossip-fest bio--"I, Shithead" is the story of the hard, relentless history behind the band.
"I, Shithead" contains everything the D.O.A fan needs--except the music. The book is loaded with concert posters, photos, album covers, and lyrics. Appendix 1 is a family tree of the band's genesis from February 1978 until 1990. Appendix II is a discography. Joey Keithley, former Green party candidate and critic of the Iraq war, is a firm believer in activism, and the book accesses Keithley's political ideas, which are always backed up with action. As Keithley says "D.O.A committed to changing the system ... injustice and inequality could be dealt with through words, ideas and people power." D.O.A. is the embodiment of punk as a political act. Fans of D.O.A and punk music should find "I, Shithead" a fascinating, inspiring and well-written autobiography--displacedhuman
Almost as good as being there.......2005-04-18
Anyone, and I do mean ANYONE, who is interested in the west coast punk scene needs to read this book. Keithley gives a fantastic first hand account of how he formed his band and all of the tests they endured going from relative nobodies to one of the biggest and best known punk bands in North America.
The book is also a mini how-to manual for anyone interested in starting up their own punk band. Keithley talks about the business side of the music industry, what it's like to play gigs to crowds of different sizes and interests, and above all, he gives a great first hand account of just what it takes to make it in the music business.
Finally, Keithley's writing style is very easy to digest. The book is written like the lyrics to many of his songs; straight ahead without and BS! What's more, the book contains many pictures and personal anecdotes about Vancouver and places beyond. In reading the book it easy to see yourself sitting at a bar with Keithley as he tells a couple tales over a couple of beers.
If you're a punk, or even think about calling yourself a punk, then you owe it to yourself to give this book a read.
A God-father of punk speaks to you........2004-06-21
Sit down at a kitchen table with Joe Keithley. Open a few beers, and hand him one, or two... Ask him to give you a crash course on himself and his legendary punk band, D.O.A., making sure not to gloss over the interesting bits.
If you can't arrange to do this with Joe, picking up a copy of this book would be your only alternative. It's 200+ pages of compelling reading, written by a man who helped define punk music both in and out of Canada, and who certainly put Canada at the roots of the punk historical tree.
Unlike a lot of books about punk bands, this is first-person stuff of the first order.
A wild trip.......2004-06-03
As a big fan of DOA since the late seventies, I was really looking forward to reading this book. Joe gives you a great amount of background about one of the hardest working bands ever.
If you love punk music and the DIY attitude, this book is must read.
Essential punk rock history.......2004-04-18
I will start by claiming 100% bias as I've known the author for well over 20 years and have greatly enjoyed his contributions to punk rock for over 25 years. DOA taught a lot of us how to go out and get it done, with "it" being spreading the music and message to the less than masses spread out among the world. Joe's book is simple, straightforward blast of history that will interest anyone into the punk rock way of existence. Essential reading, so get it and enjoy!

Customer Reviews:
Helps.......2007-06-20
The organization and layout makes getting the information you want easy and quick. There's obviously no need to read this book from front-to-back (as with all dummy-series books). The introduction also gives the reader advice on how to use this book wisely.
There are six parts:
Part 1: Putting a Computer in Your Lap.
Part 2: Explaining What Could Possibly Go Wrong
Part 3: Laying Hand on the Major Parts
Part 4: Failing to Communicate
Part 5: The Software Side of Life
Part 6: The Part of Tens
If you have a laptop and want to maintain it, prevent future dilemmas, and correctly troubleshoot problems, "Upgrading and Fixing Laptops for Dummies" can help newbies and/or the computer illiterate.
Review.......2007-06-13
Easy to read, but does not have much factual information. Frequently
asks the reader to refer to instructions that came with the computer, but
maybe it does make it a little easier to read those instructions.
Could end up being money well spent..........2005-11-05
While I may be getting more comfortable with opening up my desktop machine, I'm still less-than-thrilled if the laptop starts acting up. Upgrading & Fixing Laptops for Dummies by Corey Sandler does a very nice job in covering the hardware components of laptops and how to make sure they keep working when you need them to...
Contents:

Part 2 - Explaining What Could Possibly Go Wrong: Things That Go Bump in the Night (or Day); When to Repair and When to Recycle; Surviving Basic Training; Brain Matters: Memory, Microprocessors, and BIOS

Index
Many of my cohorts in the IT world are long-time laptop users. They're consultants, they're on the road a lot, and they live and die with their laptops. The vast majority of these people have probably done most of the things in this book at least once, and there might not be much new information for them. But take my dad. He's past retirement age, he travels around, and he got a laptop so he could "check email while they're on the road". For him, it's all a confusing jumble of technology that doesn't make a lot of sense. A book like this would allow him to understand the core parts of the laptop, know how they should be maintained, and more importantly know when things aren't working quite right. For instance, defragging a hard drive is second nature to me. For him, it's "de-what?". Clean the screen with Windex? No, Dad... Why can't you play a DVD? Because you have a CD reader... not a DVD reader. Things like that... :)
If you're more at ease with technology, you still might find some benefits here. I fortunately haven't had many issues with my laptop. But what if the screen started to fade? This book would give me a clue as to what was happening and what options I might want to pursue. Water spill on the keyboard... repairable? (The kids did it, and in this case it was.) While you might not find the exact answer you're looking for here, it will at least reduce your stress level as you figure things out.
Nice book, fun read, and the material just could prevent some problems down the road...
