Book Description
The allure of Antarctica, a place still mysterious, untamed, and unspoiled, has beckoned tourists in increasing numbers as more and more people vie for a glimpse of its terrible beauty and stunning vistas. But there is one aspect of Antarctica they never see, perhaps the most interesting of all--the world beneath the ice. This book, a collection of the finest photographs ever taken underwater in deep Antarctica, illuminates a world brimming with strange and beautiful life forms. For the first time anywhere, Under Antarctic Ice brings together the stories, the science, and the natural beauty of one of earth's most vibrant and enchanting realms.
Internationally renowned photographer Norbert Wu was given unprecedented access to the icy waters off Antarctica by the U.S. National Science Foundation to obtain these dynamic photographs. In the extreme conditions that prevail in these seas, invertebrates can grow to enormous sizes: sponges are as big as bears, jellyfish tentacles extend thirty feet, and giant sea spiders crawl through beds of soft coral.
Wu has also focused his lens on the birds and mammals living at the edge of water and ice. We are humbled before mammoth icebergs, witness a killer whale stalking prey from a narrow crack in the ice, and see what penguins look like swimming underwater.
Jim Mastro's introductory text elegantly condenses forty years of scientific research into a clear and concise natural history of this unique place.
Customer Reviews:

Book Description
Lance Taylor is widely considered to be one of the pre-eminent development economists in the world and is known for his work on development planning, macroeconomics of development, stabilization policy, and the global economy. He has also been the major force behind structuralist economics, which is seen by many to be a major alternative to orthodox development economics and policy prescriptions. The essays in this volume, written by well-known scholars in their own right, make contributions to each of these areas while honoring the contributions made by Taylor.
Professional economists, researchers and policy makers interested in development economics, political economy, global political economy and viable alternatives to mainstream thought will find this collection a valuable addition to their libraries.

Awesome!!!!.......2006-11-14
This book is great. It has the alphabet and has pictures with words under them like a picture of a cat and C-a-t. Also this book can be used for Spanish too. For instance, uno, dos, and other three letter words.
Spelling Made Fun.......2002-01-24
I Can Spell Words With Three Letters is a wonderful book! My son (who is 4, but doesn't talk yet) loves to spell his favorite words with this flip book. I really like how it contains three alphabets for kids to flip through to spell with so that even if they can't write yet, they can still practice spelling. I also like how the word is on the back of each picture so the kids can check their work. My only concern is that the flip cards seem flimsier than they were in my original copy, but I like that the book now has a velcro closure so that the cards won't get bent as easily. But it is well worth the money. In fact we got our second copy to give as a gift.
I Can Spell Words With Three Letters.......2001-06-20
This book is great! Before this book, my daughter was able to recognize letter sounds but did not understand the concept of linking the sounds together to make a word. By flipping three different piles of the alphabet, she was able to see, and therefore understand, this concept. I recommend this book to any pre-readers.
I Can Spell Words With Three Letters.......2000-03-04
My 3-yr-old is learning to spell using this book! The spelling possibilities are endless and she enjoys playing with it alone. She is instantly gratified when she flips the page to see that she has spelled a word correctly.
Excellent Car Book.......1999-12-05
My Kindergardener is just learning to read and write. This book has been great for him to "play with" when I can not sit with him or can not look at the pages with him. He has learn several words and had fun at the same time.

Kinah's Mom.......2007-03-29
I purchased this book for my three year old. I felt it was a bit too advanced but she's handling the book fine. She does know her phonics sounds. She puts the word together like a puzzle and then sounds out the word.

Enigmatic book for deadheads........2003-01-17
This is quite a funky book. If you're a deadhead, you'll appreciate some of the storties and tales presented in this book. While some of them might appear silly or meaningless at first, you can find a surprising amount of wisdom and philosophy. This isn't necessarily a "must-have" for deadheads, but if you're looking for a light-hearted book on the spiritual side of the spectrum, then you might want to check this out. The title truly says it all!
Blew my Mind!!.......2001-04-19
I had found this book when I was in high school. Then I loaned it to someone who loaned it to someone else who loaned it to another person, and then I lost track. I finally found it again!! This book opened my mind so much. I am now aware. I was never a big deadhead, and this book didn't change my mind about them but it sure blew me away. If you're looking for a book that can awaken your true sight and free your mind from it's earth bound thought pattern, then you've found it.
Interesting Concept.......2000-06-16
This book isn't just for deadheads, although it is aimed at them obviously, but has a little something for everyone who can think "outside of the lines" and is in search of wisdom. For deadheads in particular though, this is unlike any other book I have read on the topic, and it exlores the subject matter in a very different way than any other book I have read. Pick this one up, I'm pretty sure you'll find it a keeper.

Book Description
The world of digital television means hundreds of channels, all trying to be different, all looking for product. But the overall international production spend has scarcely increased. Guerrilla TV shows how to make high quality programs at budget levels which were previously thought impossible, and how to make a living doing it.
This book is about empowerment; about making things happen. It is packed full of ideas, inspiration and help. The author, an experienced director/producer/writer, provides an insight into the 'real world' of television program making today. He uses many examples of how different low budget programs have been handled successfully with very professional results.
Guerrilla TV assumes that you are starting with little more than a desk and a telephone, in a world where everything has to be paid for. The mantra running throughout this book is: 'think before you spend'. Do not use money (of which you have very little) as a substitute for thought (which is free). And the other mantra: 'in the end, you don't save money by scrimping!'
Read this book - take the advice offered and watch your career take off!
*An anarchic look at television program making today
Real life examples
*Covers everything from markets to distributors for your programs and everything in between
Book Description
Digital art is often thought to be as easy as a few button clicks on the computer but in reality, digital artists need to have just as much artistic talent as traditional artists. To truly master the digital realm, you need to master your software (in this case Photoshop CS), and be fluent in the "digital language" it provides. This allows you to intuitively apply the artistic principles and techniques needed to create dynamic images. The goal of this book is to teach you how to blend technical skill with artistic talent through the creation of a variety of interesting and fun images. If you're already using Photoshop CS, you can jump right in and get started. If you think you could use a quick refresher, there is a brief overview of Photoshop essentials you'll need to know to be successful with this book. With the ideas covered here, you'll learn how and why Photoshop does what it does, and gain an intuitive understanding that will help you progress to the next level of digital creativity. In the process, you'll apply what you learn by creating and working through a wide range of fun, practical tutorials, and learn the skills needed to create your own digital masterpieces!
Customer Reviews:
Very advanced.......2006-02-28
I know photoshop fairly well (intermediate) and I find this book very advanced. The instructions are also difficult to follow, and what I got onscreen didn't follow what they got. You have to already have some understanding of masks and channels to begin with to grasp the concepts, and even then I found it hard. I would only buy this book if you want to learn advanced techniques that the average person will never use or remember.
Excellent Book.......2005-09-10
If your into Photoshop and are at the intermediate level or more, this book can help a lot. It is full of interesting techniques. I'm very glad I purchased it.
Great Content Lousy Book Binding.......2005-09-03
I found this book amazing, it teaches you some tricks and special effects you won't find anywhere else. Definitely for a more advanced user, however if you are knowledgeable about the basics you will learn a lot. My only complaint is within 3 days of use the book fell apart. I now have 3 sections that tore off from the book that I need to refer to. Perhaps it was just my luck to get one with a binding whose glue was missing; whatever for such a great book its sad it is in pieces on my bookshelf.
.
Excellent!.......2005-08-11
This was one of the rare books that really explain how to make art with Photoshop! I love that the images he uses are hi res on the CD that comes with the book!
Debbi
The How and Why of Photoshop.......2005-06-06
This book is without a doubt the best. It actually teaches you why and how Photoshop works. Rather than tell you what to do to acheive an effect, it explaines why you go through the steps to get the result you want. This way you actually learn how to manipulate Photoshop on your own. It speaks to you on a level that almost anyone can learn and comprehend. I went through this book and CD as if it were a text book and learned more than I have from any other source. If you want to learn how to use Photoshop, then this is the course I recomend.
