Not Aikman; Sanders.......2004-01-25

Any true Packer fan, critic or historian would know that it was Barry Sanders (#3 overall) that the Packers chose Mandarich over in '89, but that doesn't change the story. It just serves more as a speedbump. Great book with lots of insight.

This book would have been granted a much higher rating if not for the errors, and this book has plenty of them.
Many of the errors are numbers-related and don't have a significant impact on the particular story (the Packers started playing in Milwaukee in 1933, not 1932 as stated in the story 'Good Times and Bad Times'), or a draft position (Ezra Johnson was a first-round pick, not a second according to the story 'Ezra'). But some of the errors do significantly alter the story: In 'Terrible Tony' the story implies that the Packers were "obsessive" about drafting Tony Mandarich rather than "taking a flier" on Troy Aikman. Aikman was the first pick in the draft, selected by Dallas, before the Packers ever had a chance. He was not bypassed by the Packers, and any team that was in the Packer's position (second pick in the draft) probably would have taken Mandarich, too.
Along with the errors are inconsistencies: According to 'The Man in Charge,' "Bob Harlan announces in 1995 that the Packers would no longer play in Milwaukee," while 'An Era Ends' correctly states that 1994 was the last year. Harlan made the announcement in 1994, before the regular season had ended.
The short stories, nonetheless, are entertaining, and Packer fans - even the most knowledgeable - are sure to have their memories jarred about a long-forgotten item or two about their beloved team. But that same knowledgeable fan - and there are many - is sure to be distracted by the many mistakes that plague this book. Yes, the book is entertaining, but you certainly wouldn't use it for reference.

While the author is not high on capitalism, valuable knowledge about its workings can bee gleened from this history classic. It is somewhat dated now that the names have changed to people like Bill Gates, but the book remains a memorable treasure.

"Rock the Casbah" was a hoot. As a professional party planner, I wish I had friends who were as willing to play as the authors friends undoubtedly are. If you have friends who will dress up for a theme party and get in the spirit, this book is full of ideas that can be easily recreated in your own home or apartment...on a budget.

This was a very good, but I was a little misconceived by what it was about. There was more about the recording of the songs and whatnot, as opposed to what they are actually about, which is what I thought the book was about. But either way, the book is very good and an easy read.

I don't own the book because I don't think that a mere author of a book can tell me what Kurt was thinking or feeling when he wrote these songs. I know in my heart what Kurt was thinking and feeling. I love him. I probably will buy the book just because I collect everything Nirvana. So, if you're a true Nirvana fan -buy it but have your own interpretation.

Excellent resource.......2005-07-23

I've used this book a lot over the years, for both personal and professional research. It is an alphabetized guide to every soap opera TV show until 1987, with background info and a quite-robust cast list for each. It's amazing to read through and see how familiar the names become -- how many actors and actresses hopped from show to show over the years. Ironically, the author comments that he did a second edition because the soap opera world had changed "tremendously" from 1985 to 1987! Twenty years later, that's all the more reason for an update.

This book is just what it says, an encyclopedia of EVERY soap opera with story sumaries and cast listings up unto the time of publication. The best part of it is it's insight in the behind the scenes of the shows! I've had this book for years and still love it! I agree with the other reviewer and wish there would be an update! Highly recommended to anyone who is interested in the history of soaps!

No soap opera enthusiast should be without this immaculately researched and detailed manual of daytime television. Brilliant in its simplicity and execution and I still find myself referring to it for accurate information. I don't know why there hasn't been an update, but even so...it still serves as one of the all time handy authorities on the subject of the American Soap Opera.

This Author Has Plenty of Respect.......1999-06-27

The reviewer below seems to blame the author for having no respect because he has done a followup to a book by a man who died. I loved Schemering's book too. But the man died. If he did a third soap opera encyclopedia, I would have loved it. But he couldn't. I was glad someone did. And he did a great job of it. It seems he has plenty of respect for the soaps as well as the readers who have been waiting for a new encyclopedia for years. As for Schemering having a right to the title, I don't know how that works after a person dies, but I do know that there are plenty of books here on Amazon with the same titles.

The author has no respect. This book shows no recognition of the hard work of the original author, the late Christopher Schemering. Schemering wrote the first two editions and might still have control of the titled name of the book.

An extenshive history of off the air soaps like Capitol, Generations, Love of Life, Loving, Ryan's Hope, Santa Barbara, and Search for Tomorrow. It also includes previous award winners of the emmy's and the digest awards. With biograhies on certain soap opera legends and 46 years of Neilsen ratings of all the soaps. It is absolutely any soap opera fans dream.

This lab manual goes hand in hand with the Enhanced A+ Guide To Managing & Maintaining Your PC by Jean Andrews. The information is basic enough for a beginner to delve into the mysteries of the computer's innards. I'm currently using it in a college class as a back up to the text and find it very informative and helpful.

Book needs editing. What is the definition of a transformer? Depends on where you look in the book. Doesn't mention USB or Firewire. Stick with Scott Mueller's book Upgrading and Repairing PC's.
