A journey into madness.......2005-03-19

Everyone who knows me knows I'm a HUGE horror fanatic, and this box set is just what I need to scratch that itch. Don't worry, it's a figurative itch. The Goosebumps series is FRIGHTfully good, and the TV show was even better, even if it did come on BEFORE Big Bad Beetle-Borgs and not after, which would have been the place of honor that it deserved. If only the TV studios weren't under the thumbs of certain political and religious groups which shall remain nameless. Anyway, this box set is SPOOKtacular, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to have a FRIGHTfully good time. Oops...I already did that one.

This is definately a collecters edal, sure its a little bit pricy , but, anyone who loves to read goosebumps books this is for you.

good stories, hat the hand very creepy so i give 5staars than the dead house got blood. and then alot of people die in this house and the blood made me want to vomit and the pitcur eis a skelton anhd thhen become a gholst like the there is a ghost in my photo book, very interesting and then the piture die and the tub full of monster blood, so yucky. i read it 400 times. tihionk inside the basement got ghost inside and then green hand, maybe it is a plant. amybe someone kill the house and then got blood and then cheese, why must die, maybe they are ghoost insiude the photo, lopoks scary and interestiong. and then the mionster open the door
and then scare people and then kill people and then got blood, then it is haunted and got blood

The author gives an insightful and humorous "behind the scenes" look into what goes on in the kitchens of many restaurants relying upon his many years of experience as a chef/cook in various establishments. A must read for any restaurant regular who wonders if they complained a little too loudly at their last visit or for those who wish to know what to look for to make sure they are getting what they ordered. It made me think twice about sending my steak back for further cooking!

For those thinking of purchasing this edition, keep in mind that like many Dover scores, this one uses C-cleff notation. I'm not sure if I am supposed to be reviewing the work, or the edition. But I assume it's the edition, since nothing I say could possibly effect the way the music world's opinion of the great B Binor Mass. Other than the cleffs and the small print, it's a quality score.

An excelent book, all voices written on original clefs, alternate vocal parts for 'Et in unum Dominum' included, music font excelent, text original. A MUST for all who praise the work of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Excellent source for score-study and analysis........1998-07-17

The Dover Editions offer very affordable editions of some of the masterpieces of Classical music. In this way, the J.S. Bach Mass in B minor score is no exception. Offers alternate vocal part for the "Et in unum Dominum" duet. Plenty of room on the pages for notes, analytical comments, etc. Vocal parts are written in their respective clef as the score is taken from the Bach-Gesellschaft Edition. A must for any serious student of the music of J.S. Bach.

Needs a better fact checker.......2007-08-06

While randomly reading sections of this book for about 30 minutes, I found several quotes and song lyrics which just weren't correct (e.g. lyrics for "We're An American Band".) It makes me wonder how accurately this book was researched. After all, it is kind of important get quotes and lyrics right when using them to substantiate a story.

Read it in one night.......2001-09-07

What a riot this book was. A lot of these stories I had heard before, but others I hadn't. Entertaining and amusing, for those who like this kind of book I would recommend this highly. The author makes a few good points. The hostility towards long hair in the 1960's was real, and he points out that long hair didn't become "mainstream" until the early 70's with the general population. There is also a chapter on the Woodstock festival, and Fein points out that the proximity to NY and the fact that the event got filmed made it seem as if that was the only festival that summer. In fact there were many others that have been forgotten along the way. Little tidbits such as that give this book credibility beyond the gossipy nature of this kind of book.

Amusing.......1998-10-08

I have read a great many books on music in my time, and as a result I'd probably already heard about a third of the stories in this volume in one form or another. However, this book is one of the only places you'll get all the good stuff between a single pair of covers, and that alone makes it worth the money for anybody interested in rock folklore.

As for the book itself - well, Fein is reasonably amusing, and many of the stories would be hilarious even if they were related by Sly Stallone during a stand-up comedy routine. Minus points, however, for the insistence on changing fonts halfway through each story, which is particularly jarring on both the eyes and the flow of the narrative (if you think I'm just nitpicking, check it out before you speak).

One line summary - it's not a classic, but you'll get a few laughs, and learn about the things any self-professed music fan should know into the bargain. Worth a look.

Yeah, but ..........1997-02-10

Mr. Fein does a great job of retelling many familiar Rock and Roll myths as well as a few outright lies. He really did his homework - it is just too bad his dog didn't eat it
