It cam from the beneath the sinks.......2007-06-14
The book I read was "It came from beneath the sinks," by GooseBunps Iscolastic. I really enjoyed the book for 3 reasons; One,because it is extremely intense and exciting. Another reason is because it is a mystery book and I really like to hear a good mystery. Lastly because I once believed that there was a monster under my bed. I recomend it to anyone who loves a good scare and loves mysteries. Once you start reading, you won't be able to stop. This book is great, I garantee that you will enjoy this book.
It's Spongetastic!.......2007-05-03
This book rocks! Not only is there a breathing evil sponge but a potato with sharp razor teeth...you can't get better than that. The story was very interesting, scary, funny and even awkward. It kept me reading for hours....I wish my sister would find a sponge of her own and leave me alone!
Very Good!!.......2007-02-04
Kat and Daniel moved to a new huge house. Their dog killer is growling and going crazy at the sink. Under the sink Kat pulls out what looks like a dirty old sponge. Than the sponge starts to shake and get stronger whenever something bad happens to Kat. The sponge under the sink is called a grool, and Kat can't kill it.
A good book. I rated it 4 stars because it was a little boring -- Scottie Schaeffer age 10
It came from beneath the sink!.......2007-01-29
This book isn't one of r.l. stines best, but it wasn't one of his worst either. It was just alright. This book was also interesting to. This book is about a girl named kat and her brother, I can't remember his name. They just moved into a new house. Kat finds a weird sponge under the sink. Ever since Kat found the sponge bad things have been happening. I took off one star for this book because it seemed kind of strange that a sponge would give people bad luck. I think they could of used something else instead of sponge, like something more scary. This book was alright and it is still worth reading.
It Came From Beneath the Sink.......2006-10-25
"Here we are, kids" says Katrina's dad. Katrina Merton is a girl like any other. She had just moved. She has a little brother named Daniel, and just like most girls, she hates him. It Came From Beneath the Sink by R.L.Stine is a story that will give you well...goose bumps.
The story is set in a big house with butter-yellow shutters where Katrina now lives. They have a dog named Killer who is afraid of everything. He started to bark at the sink.
They found a little monster called Grool who is a mysterious sponge. These books give readers mysteries to solve. The readers give his books two thumbs up. These are the best books I have ever read!

Haven't read this set yet but looking forward to it, still working on the Scary Stories box set which I recommend too!
A journey into madness.......2005-03-19
Everyone who knows me knows I'm a HUGE horror fanatic, and this box set is just what I need to scratch that itch. Don't worry, it's a figurative itch. The Goosebumps series is FRIGHTfully good, and the TV show was even better, even if it did come on BEFORE Big Bad Beetle-Borgs and not after, which would have been the place of honor that it deserved. If only the TV studios weren't under the thumbs of certain political and religious groups which shall remain nameless. Anyway, this box set is SPOOKtacular, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to have a FRIGHTfully good time. Oops...I already did that one.
Outstaning.......2001-11-30
This is definately a collecters edal, sure its a little bit pricy , but, anyone who loves to read goosebumps books this is for you.

Book Description
A classic political satire of the modern era, ONE STATE TWO STATE RED STATE BLUE STATE is a brilliant, incisive and laugh-out loud parody of the currently raging political and culture wars. The book has a unique comic take on the battles over all of the hot-button issues of the day, including stem cells, evolution, gay marriage, the morning-after pill and the display of The Ten Commandments. Written entirely in verse, and showing no mercy to the sacred cows of any political or religious stripe, this work can perhaps best be summed up as "DR.SEUSS MEETS LENNY BRUCE."
Endorsed by the well-known political satirist Will Durst, and President Clinton's former "humor speechwriter," Mark Katz (see above), ONE STATE TWO STATE not only radiates the heat of hilarity, but also sheds a bright light on the contradictions, fault lines and total absurdity of our political culture. For those who enjoy the "political incorrectness" of a Bill Maher, or the impish cleverness of The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, this book is a "must read" -- THE ULTIMATE HUMOR BOOK FOR THE POLITICAL JUNKIE, WHETHER ELEPHANT OR DONKEY.
From Tom DeLay to Torquemada, from SpongeBob to Scalia, from McCain to Madonna, this work also skillfully weaves high-brow and pop culture into a mad mélange of social commentary, with the author's artful use of rhyme providing a high-octane jolt to the punch lines.
As succinctly summarized by Joseph Dorinson, Professor of History at Long Island University:
From Mark Twain to Will Rogers, to Russell Baker to Art Buchwald, the art of political parody has occupied a distinctive place in American literature and journalism. Don Davis ably carries the torch of that tradition, as he demonstrates the uncanny knack of finding the satiric soft underbelly of virtually every controversial issue that currently divides the body politic.
Customer Reviews:
Book Review: One State Two State, Red State Blue State.......2006-01-22
Poetry and limericks were replaced in popular culture by television, music lyrics, and cultural consumerism long ago. But just as modern-day poets keep fightin' the good fight and Anne Carson successfully reinvigorated the epic poetic form with Autobiography of Red, scribes such as Don Davis are struggling to bring back the art of rhyming satire.
Thus, Davis' One State Two State, Red State Blue State: A Satirical Guide to the Political and Culture Wars is a bold attempt to render contemporary American society in rib-tickling verse. But how receptive, really, will today's society be?
To quote the ever-present Sex and the City, wherein lead character Carrie Bradshaw's erudite suitor tries to turn her on to the finer aspects of metric verse:
Carrie: How about I read you a little bit of my favorite poetry?
Aleksandr: Please.
Carrie [Reading from a Vogue magazine]: "Cocktails at Tiffany's calls for classic charm. Oscar de la Renta, sleeveless silk full-skirted dress with black patent leather bow belt." Now that is pure poetry.
Ah, yes: products and fashion. That is poetry to many. Or should I say, "too many"? Red State Blue State, then, may be a change of pace that not everyone can appreciate. But for those willing to plunge into the depths of Davis' old-school comedy stylings, many chuckles await, with chapter headings along the lines of "Was Jesus Red or Blue?," "Can There Be a Culture War Without Any Culture?," "The Age of A-queer-ius," "Iraqnaphobia," and "Desperate Democrats" signaling the many topics being wittily marinated, skewered, and barbequed.
If Red State Blue State has a weakness, it namely lies within its timeliness: Jokes about Bill Clinton and Al Gore are already growing dreadfully stale, pop-culture references quickly lose bite, and John Kerry is barely a memory. Once George W. Bush and the current crop of congressmen leave office, Red State Blue State will likely lose its relevance.
And yet it's hard to fault the writer for this failing since it's the same trap that snares most of-the-moment cultural and political writing-becoming timeless while staying timely is near impossible. The book is funny because it's timely, but that timeliness is also what marginalizes the material since you have to understand its social and historical context and it's many little news references in order to get the jokes.
On the other hand, if Hilary Clinton and/or Jeb Bush run for the presidency within the next decade and the Iraq War and Al Qaeda terrorist conflicts remain unresolved-all of which seem likely-then Bush, Clinton, and Mid East gags will automatically become relevant all over again, so Red State Blue State may be able to keep some of it's edge for a few years to come.
That said, the best time to read the book is now, while it's still fresh. And when you're done flipping through it, it'll make a perfect little gift for your hard-to-shop-for political-fanatic compadres. One caveat: Although Red State Blue State heckles both the left- and right-wings of society, the book saves it's sharpest and most frequent jabs for the conservative right (the author is a New York Blue Stater). For me, that's perfect. For namby-pamby Republicans, it might be a problem.
Political affiliations aside, it's of interest to remember that Red State Blue State has antecedents in the works of famed wordsmiths like Shel Silverstein and Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss), who wrote rhymes for children that appealed across generations, but also worked in the realm of social satire. In turn, this makes me wonder if Davis should have taken a cue from those esteemed men and laced his verse with inventive drawings.
Clever illustrations would make Red State Blue State a superior gift and worthy coffee table piece. The most memorable Silverstein and Geisel works, editorial cartoons, Joel Andreas' hilarious and frightening Addicted to War graphic novel, and illuminate biblical scriptures all benefit from artistic renderings juxtaposing against text, and the lack of detailed, risible art is what makes the numerous pages of Red State look more imposing and less entertaining than its lighthearted contents actually are.
I'll close this review by stealing the inscription from the opening of Red State Blue State: "You can't make up anything anymore. The world itself is a satire. All you're doing is recording it." - Art Buchwald
Like Red State Blue State, that quip is witty, sad, and awfully, wryly, kinda true.
Excerpts:

If we simply cut out their tongues?
But on second thought, all this white noise
Really does serve the nation
After all, man can't live by smut alone
He also needs mental (...)...
...The media's coverage of politics
Is usually like a horserace
Who's up, who's down, who's leading the pack
Who's falling down on their face
But if an ambitious reporter attempted

Political Humor at it's best.......2005-09-16
This book is in the best tradition of political satires such as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Its parodies
of the culture wars, and virtually all of the hotly-contested political issues of the day, are not only hilarious,
but also shine a spotlight on our often misplaced priorities and shortcomings as a nation. This is simply
one of the most clever and entertaining books that I have read in a long time.
This book has very little "Red State" in it or Enemy within.......2005-09-14
I would like to say that this book is a glorious insight into the modern pathos of the Blue Sater in America. First, Blue Staters have never gotten over the selection or election (depending on your point of view) of GHWB in 2000. Then 9/11 happened and a cowboy president or great president (depending upon your point of view) came out of the fray strong and sure. Well, after such events--including the Iraq War--only a book of this mock and contempt could be possible. It is a good read for Red Staters, not at a fair and balanced look at both sides, but rather viewing the modern pathos of Blue Staters in America, especially those who quote Thomas Jefferson as stating that descent in America is the greatest of patriotism. However, for some Blue Staters, they seem to think that supporting a cause that promotes a man strapping a bomb to his chest is a form of descent. Blue staters want to feel better and they feel awful about the current state of America and how could you blame them, when their whole life is defined by some quasi-Existential problemata of feeling. I ask them for proof all the time on why they feel GHWB is evil or why they think or feel that GHWB is wrong for the country and they can only speculate about their feelings or how it effects them personally (I hear this word "I" a lot when speaking to Blue Staters) or why the war is wrong. I carry a lot of respect for those who abdicate non-violence and stay consistent with this ideology. However, it seems that a lot of Blue Staters are only upset about war when it involves the other side of the political spectrum. Where were these anti-war feelings and outrage in Bosnia or better yet Waco, TX?
My biggest disappointment is where the author tries to mend ties with Red State America in the end by juxtaposing points of view as all being America. I find this funny, because many poems before this "healing" section berate the very people he is trying to unite with. It's sort of like a Nazi (a favorite word in the Blue Stater world) berating Jews and then in the end asking for unity. Sound familiar?
Good for all sides.......2005-09-07
This is a fine little book for everyone, which is rare these days. Everyone is backed into their own ideological corner with little in common. A humorous and enjoyable read.
Political satire at its best.......2005-06-27
For any connoisseur of political satire, it just dosn't get any better than this. Funny, smart, and provocative, this book consistently delivers biting social commentary with the force of a heavweight's knock out punch.

Customer Reviews:
...like those brilliant professors who are just bad teachers........2006-03-25
This book gives a solid introduction to the basic functions of Adobe 1.5 (and earlier), and its contents are clearly identified in the index, which makes the navigation easy. I was performing the basic editing in a matter of minutes. Also, the book binding is excellent--you open a page and it will stay open! This is an important feature when you are working with both of your hands on your computer.
I am happy with the purchase, and I'd certainly recommend this book to others; however, there is some room for improvement for the future editions.
1. Sometimes the author forgets that we aren't all computer experts. As a result, his instructions include the language laypersons (like myself) do not understand. This is particularly conspicuous in the special effects sections of the book, where I needed help the most.
2. At the same time, the book dedicates an entire chapter on the intuitive basics with which most of us won't need help, such as opening a file, saving, saving as, switching between different views, etc.
3. Also, I didn't really get the sense that Mr. Grebler is neither a musician nor a music editor in real life. His discussion is strictly technical (i.e., technological) and doesn't include any tips on musical nuances.
All in all, Mr. Grebler's style reminds me of those brilliant professors in college, who were experts in their scholarly fields yet had no idea how to teach effectively.

If you're beyond the beginning stages of Access, this is a great book to help you advance even further. It has a great section devoted to the SQL language that can really help you with writing your own queries.
Helped me to get going!!!.......2004-07-07
This book is not meant to be the ultimate reference for access it did exactly for me what i expected. It got me started into the world of Access programming. It was long and did over explain a lot, but that was what i needed at the time. SO for me, it was perfect.
As a bonus, when i was in a rut and i needed an answer i found the authors Email address in the book and he helped to steer me in the right direction a couple of times. Now I have moved on to more technical books about the Access world, but i am very thankful for the groundwork this book helped me to lay down.
The best book on Access.......2003-11-10
To teach an intermediate course on Access I had to read most of the Access books in the market. By far this is the best one as it takes the reader from the very basics to advanced programming in Visual Basic for Applications. Too bad that Mr. Viescas did not write the Access 2000 version.
The worst book I have ever purchased............2003-11-08
Let me start by saying that I have bought and read no less than about 50 technical books in my lifetime and I have never written a review good or bad about any of them. With this one I feel like I have to write a review so that no one else makes the same mistake I made.
I have been in the computer field for over 10 years now and I recently decided that I want to learn Access. I am already quite familiar with most of the concepts and want to learn how to write a small Access program. I started with Access Step by Step and it was great. The next step in Microsoft's plan is to read this book.
What a completely terrible book. It is all over the place. It goes on and on about stupid stuff like using a keyboard and mouse and never, not once in all 1,000 pages, show you how to create forms to manipulate data. He says look at my bad examples on the cd but never once talks you through designing your own form. Terrible, terrible book!
Too many words.......2003-04-22
The problem I see with this book is the author takes too much time explaining a thing, you can probably write the same content in half the number of pages (500) without losing any content.

If you've paid for Office 2000 Premium, the top-of-the-line version of Microsoft's productivity suite, you owe it to yourself to have a complete software reference on hand. Running Microsoft Office 2000 Premium includes exactly the sort of detailed how-to information you need on each application's features and tools. It's a great choice for individuals and businesses that live and die by their Office 2000 skills.
Running Microsoft Office 2000 Premium takes the classic approach of comprehensive Office books--it tackles the applications one at a time and explains each application's functions and capabilities using stepped procedures along the way. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher, FrontPage, and PhotoDraw each get a turn in the spotlight. The authors explain the basics of each application before working up to its specialized features. You'll also find a bit about the Small Business Tools and coverage of multiapplication tasks like creating a compound document or using Binder to hold multiple files together for easy management.
While it covers basic facts and skills, you'll also find advanced user information in Running Microsoft Office 2000 Premium. The authors include an introduction to macro-writing that sheds light on some of the most useful features of Visual Basic for Applications. --David Wall

Very difficult to follow and some pages are misprinted.......2004-07-09
Running Microsoft Office 2000 Professional has a nice book cover that is for sure, but I made a mistake in buying this book. First, the contents are very difficult to following because it has lot of information that is repeated over and over. Second, in Outlook there are some misprinted pages - got pages of Access in there. What was the publisher doing??? Obviously didn't pay much attention to proofread this book nor give it at least a once over. The only thing this book is good for is to use as a very heavy and expensive paper weight. If you want a good book, I suggest "Teach Yourself Visually Microsoft Office 2000" by Ruth Maran OR "Master Microsoft Office 2000 Visually" by Ruth Maran and Paul Whitehead. These books will at least get you started in getting familiar with using the programs. And then when you are passed the beginners level, you can look for other books that cover each program more in depth.
Big Fat Book, but.......2004-07-06
I bought this book because I thought since it is from Microsoft Press publishing their own materials on the programs the company itself designed, I thought it would be easier to read and use and quicker to learn the programs, but that was not the case. This book was dry as hell, with lots of useless jargon. Some of the materials are very repetitve just to make the book larger and look valuable. Even highlighting it did not help to retain the information. For anyone who wants to master the programs, you need to find other books. For beginners, the visual books with pictures are fun and quick to learn. For the intermediate to more advance people, check out other books. Too bad cannot rate this big fat useless book with a zero, if I could, I would. Even rate it in the negative integers.
Running Microsoft Office 2000.......2003-04-11
I am surprised that no one has sent in a review for this text. These two guys write the flagship instruction text for Microsoft Office, and have been doing it successfully for years. You can't beat them for a fun, clear, information. I have written many a manual in my day, and these guys are some of the best around. This book is especially useful if you are getting ready for a testing job interview and need to brush up on some of the things you don't use every day.
Typical Microsoft.......1999-09-09
After having this book for only one day, I gave up and returned it. There are numerous editing errors throughout. For instance, In the middle of the Outlook 2000 section, some color-coded guide tabs and page headings read "Access 2000".
Also, the index refers to wrong or misplaced pages. Further searching reveals particular index entries are nowhere to be found. Clearly rushed to press without much editing or forethought. Office 2000 "Professional"? Hardly.
Complete Waste of Trees and Money!.......1999-08-28
This book contained neither detailed nor summary information on either of the two progams I was using: Word and Front Page. It is not targeted at beginners or advanced users. Instead it is a hodge podge of topics; most of them irrelevant to what I wanted to do. Even though the book is physically huge it covers very little in total because there are so many programs involved.
As context I have been using Word and Front Page since their very early versions. In Word I was simply trying to figure out why things were being formatted in such a strange way (I know--futile). For Front Page I was looking for an introduction to the new features and new interface.
Save your money unless you need a colorful doorstop.
