Worthless.......2006-03-01
I first took the LSAT in 2002. I had never looked at an LSAT before, did not know what to expect, and was a little hungover. I scored okay, a 155. I decided to take the LSAT again and this time about a year ahead of time, I purchased Kaplan. I studied very hard, did the exercises, and the CD Rom.
To make a long story short, I got a 153 the second time I took the LSAT. In other words, I did better going into the test blind than I did with a year and $40 invested in Kaplan. I think Powerscore would have been much better. On top of that, they would not honor their money back guarantee. If I take the LSAT again, I am going to try the hungover approach and score better.
Grain of Salt.......2005-11-28
Kaplan's intro book isn't bad and it isn't great. It's a good overview before you really start digging into the actual LSAT questions. I felt that it got my mind warmed up as to what the LSAT would be like and gave me some basic tips to think over.
There's no way this should be your only study material, however it fills an important role. If you're studying on your own you should have some sort of book that gives you the basics of the LSAT...whether that be Kaplan, Princeton Review, Nova, etc.
I liked to think of my self study in several stages:
1. Intro to the LSAT
2. General logical reasoning and analytical skill development
3. Focussed practice on specific types of LSAT questions
4. Full preptests
5. Further focus on specific LSAT skill areas
This book does a decent job of addressing that Intro to the LSAT but alone it's not going to prepare you adequately to take the LSAT.

This is a great book to prepare you, not only for the LSAT but for the application process itself. Has a nice introduction to "thinking like a lawyer" and study tips for the test.
Powerscore Not Kaplan.......2005-07-31
I agree with most of the reviewers who said that the Kaplan book is worthless. It's full of common sense information and provides no real in-depth strategies to attack the problems. For example, I'll discuss the Logic Games sections of Kaplan and a competetor, Powerscore. The first five pages of Kaplan's Logic Games section are dedicated to "The Four Basic Principles of Logic Games." One of the principles is "Use Scratchwork and Shorthand"...gee, you think? Also, Kaplan dedicates minimal pages to the actual different types of Logic Games and how to solve them. For example, there are only two and a half pages specific to the Sequencing type of game. I recommend the Powerscore books, in which the Sequencing section in the Logic Games Bible is about 100 pages long and is full of strategies, examples, and step-by-step approaches to real LSAT questions. Maybe the actual Kaplan course is effective, but buying the book is a waste of money. The Powerscore books are more expensive, but are well worth the price.
Hoax. .......2005-05-25
THe 2005 edition of the book is the exact same as the 2004 edition. Even the back cover of the book says "Kaplan 2004". see for yourself. The only thing they changed was the cover and the copyright page. They should recall the books and actually put out a 2005 edition. I also thought some of the answers or explanations were wrong according to their own standards. The only thing good about it is that it's better than nothing.

This is a new, critical edition of William Roye's A Brefe Dialoge bitwene a Christen Father and his stobborne Sonne, which was, in 1527, the first Protestant catechism to be published in English, and which represented the first to provide an extended and detailed statement of the new reformed doctrine in the vernacular. It was thus enormously influential on English Reformist thought, outlining a combination of doctrines that were to appeal to English reformers for decades to come. The Brefe Dialoge electrified the spiritual imagination of English-speaking reform-minded believers as intensely as Tyndale's 1526 English New Testament.
The introduction carefully establishes the historical, religious, social, and cultural contexts out of which the work was born. It also provides details about Roye's life, other works, and commitment to the Reformist cause. The text of the catechism is accompanied by an extensive and detailed commentary that provides readers with clear readings for difficult passages, establishes a theological context for ideas expressed in the text, provides analogous readings from other early Reformation tracts, and glosses all the biblical citations and allusions.
The Brefe Dialoge will be of value to students and scholars interested in the history, theology, and literature of the early English Reformation period.

The only reason I ordered this book is because I am a member of a local choir and ordered it as it is in the choir's repertoire and contains a wide spread of Church Choral Music for SATB voices. I prefer to have my own copy rather than a library one.
The Quintessential Standard.......2005-07-28
If you only ever purchase one volume of sacred choral music, this should be the one. Oxford + Rutter = 54 "Standards" of European choral music in an edition that is well researched, edited and engraved. Some notes from the preface:
The period covered in this volume is from about 1500 up to the twentieth century...
Sacred music from Britain appears in a separate volume.
With only one or two exceptions, only complete, self-standing compositions are included, not extracts from larger works such as masses, cantatas and oratorios.
With few exceptions, pieces wiith orchestra accompaniment (...) appear in the Sacred Choruses volume.
With one exception, choral arrangements of music not original for choir or vocal ensemble are excluded, as is music in less than four voice parts.
Advent, Christmas and Epiphany motets appear in a separate volume and are excluded. (From page iv of the preface)
Now that we've listed what isn't included... well... what IS included is simply fantastic. I can't think of a more useful volume for concert or high-church choirs. The efficiency of purchasing a collection over individual octavos should not be overlooked. The average price of choral octavos these days is about $2.00. With a volume like this, you couldn't even copy (from a legal source, of course) these pieces so cheaply.
This volume makes a lovely gift for choral singers, too.
Top notch choral compendium.......2003-12-15
A usual Oxford Press is top rate! From the clean voice leading to the acurate translations - you simply can't beat it. For my madrigal choir this is a required book.
A MUST for your choral library!.......2002-12-02
This compilation of choral gems is one of my prized possessions! It has some tried and true classics like the Cantique de Jean Racine (Gabriel Fauré) and some less mainstream but equally gorgeous pieces, like the Salve Regina (Francis Poulenc). There are some historical and performance notes included. To a teacher, a conductor, student: this is a book you will use and use; there is something for everyone!
Excellent Resource.......1999-06-11
This is an excellent book of some of the better choral classics. I have sung some of them for years (Mozart's Ave verum) but others are not so familiar (Viadiana's Exaultate justi) to some old friends in a different arrangement (Franck's Panis Angelicus in SATB). Difficulty ranges from fairly easy to difficult, with something for everyone. A good collection for any serious classical chorus or church choir.

This was a very average book for those who know anything about David Boreanaz. The book focused more on the BtVS series than it did on David himself. Most of the information presented could be found in various magazines and articles and, as indicated by the bibliography, probably was. Chris Nickson had a tendency to repeat several comments and/or opinions during the book, this became a bit too repetitive for me. Overall.... average for an David Boreanaz fan but a good starting point for the new comer.

I love this book and I think that all the other BtVS fans would love it too.It has info about the show and even has info about David's parents-way back before David was even born.It talks about his whole life!In the middle of the book there's even pictures.All the info you'll ever want to know about David is all in this one book!Get the book and enjoy!

This book has it all. A well-written biografi about David`s life and carrier, A lot about Buffy the vampire slayer and beautiful color photos. A must have for every David Boreanaz (Angel) fan and also for every Buffy the vampire slayer fan. This is a fun way to learn all about our favorite vampire.

Only the basics!!!!.......2001-03-21
The course presents a good overview of IP Routing but fails to give any indepth information. As someone who works in networking, I was hoping for more. However, as an introduction to routing, and for an understanding of the basics of these topics, this set is a good buy. The videos are easy to watch, and Mr. Black is a decent speaker, but he does pause on occasion (almost like he is waiting for a cue card to be changed?!?) I would recommend this set to people who are starting out or who need only an overview of IP routing.
IP and videos a training concept that really works........2000-12-29
Learning the finer points of IP, routing and IP routing protocols could be very expensive in a formalized training center, right? You need to learn at a pace comfortable for you and at cost that won't require shelling major dollars.
Prentice Hall and Ulyess Black have put together a package that may rival any formal training course out there. The package is made up of two books and two videos.
In book 1 - IP Routing Protocols there is 260 page covering protocols like RIP, OSPF, BGP, PNNI, IGRP and EIGRP. Also there is coverage of SAPs, stub areas and NSSB and NHRP. The book finishes with bridging and bridges.
Book 2 - IP Routing Protocols Workbook goes with the first book and the two videos. Video 1 covers the first 11 sections, while video 2 tackles the remaining 9. There is over 3 ½ hours of video material.
This package is an excellent way to listen and learn and this package allows you to learn at your own pace. For the money this is a very good learning tool to purchase.

I have never read such a nice book detailing so much of multi-vendor interoperability issues. It helps you with the protocol knowledge itself and practical knowledge with router configurations. My colleague in PS, Hannes really knows what this is all about.
This book, while pours much theorectical knowledge though, doesn't put me to sleep.
Actually anyone who are interested into large-scale SP network design should read that, at least 3 times. It helps you grow in the telecom field.
The IS-IS Bible.......2005-03-13
Walt is one of the most prolific networking authors in the industry, and Hannes is one of the few true IS-IS experts in the world. Friends and colleagues both, I am delighted that Hannes and Walt have pooled their extensive experience to produce what is destined to be a classic volume for IP engineers. Going far beyond the basics of the protocol, Hannes details the many design touches--both subtle and not so subtle--that go into creating a real-world IS-IS implementation. This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand IS-IS at a deep level, from network architects wanting to understand how to design a large-scale IS-IS network to software engineers wanting to write carrier-class IS-IS code to CCIE and JNCIE candidates who need to understand the protocol but have had little opportunity to work with it in a production environment. And despite the technical deep-dive, the book is written in a friendly, readable style with frequent flashes of humor. I cannot over-emphasize the importance of this book to anyone wanting to truly understand IS-IS.
