brian wolfe yeahhh!!!!!! the barking gost.......2006-10-12
This book was ok if you are nine years old, but me--I did not like it. It was a good quick read, but other than that it was not frightening, it was really short. Its plot was childish, and it did not have a very good ending. This book was meant to be read buy younger kids (nine to ten years old) and if your older than that you might like I but I did not it was good for quick reading. During the plot it was easy to predict what would happen next. So yeah this book is good for younger people, it is also a good quick read, and it is very easy to predict what's going to happen next.

Book Description
Emerging Labor Market Institutions for the Twenty-First Century provides the first in-depth assessment of how effectively labor market institutions are responding to the decline of private sector unions.
This important volume provides case studies of new labor market institutions and new directions for existing institutions. While non-union institutions are unlikely to fill the gap left by the decline of unions, the findings suggest that emerging groups and unions might together improve some dimensions of worker well-being. Emerging Labor Market Institutions is the story of workers and institutions in flux, searching for ways to represent labor in the new century.

Customer Reviews:
GREAT PICTURES BUT TOO SHORT.......2005-04-22
I bought this book at a good price. The Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Ramones and a bunch of other bands that Rikki Ercoli caught in his camera during the good punk times. All pictures are in black and white, and pretty cool but the reason I rate this item 4 stars its because its so short an little. The pictures could have been greater if they were bigger. If you want cooler and much much bigger pictures buy "Punk: the desperate record of a revolution" which by the way costs only 3 dollars more.
Just in time for your holiday punk rock needs!.......2003-11-25
The photos in this book are fantastic and comparable to anything by Roberta Bayley or Bob Gruen. The author's reminiscences are brief and to the point, giving a synopsis of each shot. I found one error -- the band cited as D.O.A. is actually Discharge; other than that, the only possible complaint I have is that it could be lengthier and twice its size. You get great endpapers of the Misfits with Robo on drums and fans doing a pile-on, a very stoned-looking Deborah Harry, and other greats. Perfect for the punk rock coffee table. Nice work, R.E.
This book ROCKS!.......2003-11-14
It's not just about the bands -- okay, maybe it is -- but these are totally dynamite portraits (mostly taken live at tiny clubs, some backstage) of some of my favorite bands from the punk / new wave era.
Okay, so I saw the Ramones play like a dozen times between 1978 and 1984. Saw Patti Smith play at a tiny club in '78 or '79 (Radio Ethiopia tour?)... changed my life. I won't bore you with my personal history (or what I remember of it anyway.)
Well, there are a few omissions (what? no Talking Heads?!?) but ya gotta love the crowd shots of the Misfits and the Dead Kennedys. And the Circle Jerks, too. Something for everyone in this collection -- put on some vinyl and turn it way up when you're looking at it.

Book Description
Global Television and Film is the first non-specialist introduction to the economics of the contemporary film and television business. The industry is highly significant, economically and culturally and the political economy of its trade is an extremely sensitive issue. Are cultural goods merely entertainment goods? Why does the US dominate? This book provides a systematic and structured economic explanation of how the global markets for television and films operate, and the implications for public policy and business strategy. By explaining the economic and cultural characteristics relevant to trade, the reader is provided with the tools necessary to evaluate international communication issues. The book stresses the uniqueness of cultural products and develops the argument that the economic and cultural development approaches to cultural issues can be largely reconciled. The authors point out that the mainstream economics approach has been under-represented in communications and explains to a very great extent the underlying reasons for the prevalence of American based media across the world.
Customer Reviews:
Great Book - Well-written and Accessible.......2001-07-03
This overview of the global film and television industry is highly recommended for anyone with an interest in film, and especially for managers in production companies or the like. It is very readable and accessible, and helps you understand the larger economic forces that structure your work environment.

Latin American Television: A Global View
ASIN: 0631201505 |
Book Description
In this book Chris Barker situates television as a cultural phenomenon in the context of global modernity. Barker offers the first introductory multidimensional and multiperspectival approach to the understanding of television. In so doing, Barker connects with a number of significant current debates in both media and cultural studies, providing useful summaries of these debates and offering reflections of his own.
A particular strength of this book is the way in which Barker ranges across both cultural and media studies literature. The book describes the major contemporary economic, technological and cultural developments in global television placing them within the wider context of global modernity. It provides readers with useful summaries and evaluations of key arguments relating to the development of television as an industry across the globe and its potential cultural impact.

Customer Reviews:
Excelente Libro.......2006-08-29
Es uno de los mejores en su ramo. Los libros de esta editorial son de lo mejor que he leido y aplicado.
Great Advanced VFP book! Must have!.......2006-07-30
Hentzenwerke Publishing is very famous for its technical books, especially among VFP developers. I'd certainly agree to that. The MegaFox book has very deep technical contents and very usable right away. I become more productive already after finishing the first chapter. Some of the stuff are a bit old because the book is based on VFP 7, and right now I'm using VFP 9. But still this doesn't reduce the usefulnes of the tips and tricks in the book pages. I highly recommend every VFP developers to grab this book and check out the other books from Hentzenwerke Publishing.
Excellent book for VFPiers.......2005-02-02
This is the first time I write a book review here but I did it because I felt the need to.
The book is an excellent resource guide for vfp developers.
It is intended for intermediate and experienced programmers who want to master VFP. It covers technologies/tools and other aspects that a developer can integrate within its applications. The book covers in great detail Activex, Email, PDF Reports,Charts, internet access, COM/COM+, SQLServer/MSDE and more...
However, the book has a good introduction on design patterns with good examples and many tips on deployment and testing.
My favorite chapter is chapter 13 that talks about pragmatic reusable data classes for talking to different backends.
In addition the reader can find a huge collection of very sophisticated functions /classes in the source that is provided with the book.
Finally, the reader can download the electronic format of the book from Hentzenwerke.com that it was very practical for me.
Essential resource for VFP developers.......2004-06-21
I must say that I think this is an excellent book, and I have to recommend it whole-heartedly. By now, everyone knows this is not just a sequel to KiloFox, right? It contains information on things that you might expect from the title: ActiveX controls, graphing, e-mail, and PDF output. But there is so much more than I expected: COM/COM+, internet/web development, design patterns, XML, ADO, and more. I had been wondering about the implications of using multi-threaded DLLs, and the whole time it was fully explained in this book. Of course, in KiloFox fashion, it provides a lot of code you can use in your own apps. This is easily one of my favorite VFP books, and I put it up there with the Hacker's Guide in terms of usefulness to VFP developers.
