...which led me to buy this anthology.

I enjoyed Therese Szymanski's story `In The Mood' tremendously and then enjoyed 30 other stories by a terrific list of authors including:

Alison Tyler
Tristan Taormino
Rachel Kramer Bussel
Diana Cage
Amie M. Evans
Jean Roberts

3 out of 5 stars This one's pretty hit-or-miss..........2005-05-30

So I had really high hopes for this compilation, especially due to the involvement of Stacy Bias, girl wonder. However, some of the stories were simply poorly written. Cliches abounded, and I found myself distracted from what would otherwise be a perfectly hot story with an interesting enough plot by the sophomorish writing.

Don't get me wrong, there are some really great stories with wonderful writing, and some are truly outstanding. It's worth getting. Just not as totally fabulous as I'd hoped.

4 out of 5 stars Now I'm Tingling!.......2005-04-02

The stories in this collection are very good, for the most part, though they are sometimes a little repetitive given that they are purportedly "true." The writing is good and, thankfully, most of the stories are about women who identify lesbian and it is mostly male-free space, which is my preference for erotica about lesbians (as opposed to the "Best of Lesbian Erotica" series which has fewer and fewer women who identify lesbian every year and more and more queer/genderbending; it's just not my cup of tea.) This is a must have for the general lesbian erotica afficianado. A couple of the stories are a little awkward in style, but again, they are purportedly confessional type true stories, not polished works of fiction.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic collection!.......2005-02-10

I adored this book! Each piece was hotter than the previous one. A fantastic collection that every serious reader of erotica should own!

5 out of 5 stars Sexy & Sizzlin .......2004-08-04

This book does just that. It keeps you up all night and wanting more. From page one until the last page, I was salivating for more sensual stories. This collection of HOT stories will make your panties wet and your mind dirtier. As a huge fan of erotic fiction, I have to declare "Up All Night" as one of my all time favs. A must read for any hot and bothered reader.

    Book Description

Why are workers with identical skills found in both "good" jobs and "bad" jobs? Why are workers who do similar jobs paid differently, contrary to standard competitive theory? Observable differences in workers doing the same job account for only 30 percent of wage variation. In Wage Dispersion, Dale Mortensen examines the reasons for pay differentials in the other 70 percent. He finds that these differentials, or wage dispersion, are largely the result of job search friction (which arises when workers do not know the wages offered by all employers) and cross-firm differences in wage policy and productivity.

Mortensen examines previous theoretical explanations for wage dispersion, testing them against data from a Danish matched employer-employee database. He begins by offering a simple one-period model of the problem, then expands this basic model intertemporally to include the role of on-the-job worker search behavior. Following this, he discusses theoretical modifications that offer an explanation for the nature of observed wage dispersion, particularly the shape of cross-firm wage distribution. He then examines the hypothesis that wage policies are determined by profit-maximizing behavior and finds that the Danish data do not support it; he argues that bilateral wage bargaining is the more likely determinant. Finally, he reviews recent work that extends the basic theoretical framework to explain wage dispersion within firms.

    Book Description

In these notes, Professor Kreps surveys the standard models of choice under uncertainty that lie at the heart of microeconomic theory. Choice and preference, ordinal utility, von Neumann-Morganstern utility and utility functions for money, and subjective probability and subjective expected utility are among the standard topics covered. These notes provide a rigorous but accessible introduction to the theory of choice for mathematically inclined undergraduates and/or graduate students in economics, finance, and related disciplines.

    1 out of 5 stars Kreps can't deal with the empirical(experimental) evidence.......2004-11-24

Kreps has written an updated version of Savage's The Foundations of Statistics(1954).Like Savage,he is unable to deal with what Savage called vagueness, what Ellsberg called ambiguity and what John Maynard Keynes called uncertainty in the General Theory(1936)and weight of the evidence in the A Treatise on Probability(1921)in chapters 6 and 26 .Keynes defined an index to measure the extent of the vagueness, ambiguity, uncertainty or weight of the evidence upon which the probability estimates, calculated by the decision maker ,would be based.Letting w equal the weight of the evidence(or the vagueness, ambiguity or uncertainty of the evidence),0<=w<=1.A w=o means that the decision maker is dealing with a situation of ignorance.A w between 0 and 1(0<w<1) means that the decision maker is dealing with partial ignorance.A w=1 means that the decision maker is dealing with situations of risk, where the probabilities are further assumed to be precise, unique, exact single numbers. They can't be nonadditive(subproportional or superproportional).Kreps spends the first 13 chapters dealing with a purely mathematical construction that can only deal with the case of w=1(or rho=1 in the Ellsberg approach or the degree of evidential support=1 in the 1994-1996 Tversky approach). He then spends a total of 7 pages covering the massive amount of empirical and experimental evidence which points to the conclusion that his theoretical, axiomatic approach is a special ,limiting case that has ,practically, little or no real world application.Any reader of this review who is interested in a theoretical decision rule that deals with all of the empirical evidence briefly covered by Kreps(Allais paradox,Ellsberg paradox, certainty effect, reflection effect, translation effect, and the preference reversal effect)is advised to carefully study Keynes's conventional coefficient of risk and weight ,c.The goal of the decision maker is to maximize cA,where c=p(1/1+q)[2w/(1+w)]and A is the outcome.Risk aversion is dealt with by the decision weight(1/1+q)and not by conflating diminishing marginal utility with risk aversion.Kreps needs to rearrange the ordering of his chapters, putting the last chapter first. This would allow a potential reader to decide whether he wants to allocate his limited, finite time to reading a book that has very limited application.

    5 out of 5 stars Start thinking with a decision-theorist mind.......2004-03-27

The book seems harmless at the beginning with the mathematical proofs of some binary relations, which require a little bit of logic - and very careful writing down, if you have to turn in the problems as homework. But it gets more and more challenging - and pushes you to use some Real Analysis and Probability Theory concepts to really master the issues presented. This is not a reference book, nor a traditional textbook: it is a collection of lectures on economics of decision. The Von Neumann Morgernstern model is developed in all its magnitude, going further than any game theory textbook. You start to feel the 3 axioms and the numerical representation as second nature! But then, the Aumann/Anscombe and Savage models are introduced, as well as the limitations of the perfect VNM model. Everything you've learned seems to fall apart.
The problem sets are mainly excursions, in the very Kreps' style (if you have read his Course on Microeconomic Theory, you know what half a page problem without any equation is). In general, you don't need economics to get a good grip of the content: it is decision theory, not micro theory. Engineers and mathematicians will love it - and some economists will find it too tough!

4 out of 5 stars Useful, concise, requires some background.......2001-02-28

I think this book certainly deserves its good reputation as a primer on the variations and developments of utility theory. It must be noted that the book requires a fair amount of mathematical background that students coming to choice theory from non-economic backgrounds might not have. The book may be almost inscrutable if you are not ready to think mathematically about choice an aren't familiar with mathematic-decision speak. To that reader, I would refer you to a book called "Thinking and Deciding" by Jonathan Baron and/or the Psychology of Judgment and Decision Making by Scott Plous. For a reader with a psychology background such as myself, those were much gentler introductions, although the material in this book is worth mastering if you want to do serious work in the field of decision making research.

    5 out of 5 stars Terrific.......2001-01-15

A terrific book. If you want a comprehensible introduction to decision theory which includes all the most important stuff (von Neumann-Morgenstern, Savage, Anscombe-Aumann), look no further. You will not find anything else even close.

    5 out of 5 stars a splendid book.......2000-03-25

I have read this book more than 10 times since I came across it. Every time I read this book, I find something new. This book is based on lecture notes on axiomatic choice theory presented by David Kreps(the author) at the Stanford University. If you want to major in economics, in particular, choice theory, this book will enable you to access this area very easily.

          Book Description

This book provides a systematic, formal treatment of a recently proposed extension of the expected utility model of choice under risk: the so-called rank-dependent utility model. In this approach the representation of preferences is based upon a (generalized) utility function defined on the outcome/probability-plane. The main purpose of the book is to demonstrate the flexibility of this model with respect to its explanatory power. This is achieved by analyzing a certain subclass of the rank-dependent utility approach which incorporates the notion of price-dependent distortions of probabilities. This particular approach captures an optimistic point of view towards gambling (as can often be observed), whilst being compatible with a suitably formulated concept of risk aversion. The resulting model is used to explain some of the observed behavioral patterns as the Allais-paradox and the behavior described by the Friedman-Savage hypothesis.

            Book Description

This book surveys the literature on intertemporal utility and provides a fundamental analysis of dynamic decision making. In the survey part a comprehensive classification system is introduced which allows for a coherent organization of the heterogenous literature on intertemporal utility. The second part addresses fundamental aspects of intertemporal desicion making. Special attention is paid to "dynamic choice mechanisms". These mechanisms are rules which transform an individual`s intertemporal sequence of preferences into actual decisions.

                Book Description

This book investigates models in cooperative game theory in which the players have the possibility to cooperate partially. In a crisp game the agents are either fully involved or not involved at all in coperation with some other agents, while in a fuzzy game players are allowed to cooperate with infinite many different participation levels, varying from non-cooperation to full cooperation. A multi-choice game describes the intermediate case in which each player may have a fixed number of activity levels. Different set and one-point solution concepts for these games are presented. The properties of these solution concepts and their interrelations on several classes of crisp, fuzzy, and multi-choice games are studied. Applications of the investigated models to many economic situations are indicated as well.

In one of the major contributions to behavioral economics, Loewenstein and Prelec [Loewenstein, G., Prelec, D., 1992. Anomalies in intertemporal choice: evidence and an interpretation. The Quarterly Journal of Economics 107, 573-597] set the foundations for the behavioral approach to decision making over time. We correct a number of errors in Loewenstein and Prelec (1992). Furthermore, we provide a correct, more direct and simpler derivation of their generalized hyperbolic discounting formula that has formed the basis of much recent work on temporal choice.

                    Book Description

Cooperation is beneficial but may be hard to achieve in situations where the selfish interests of individuals conflict with their common goal, such as in sharing of goods, help, knowledge or information, in trade and pollution negotiations, and in exploitation of common resources. The standard models of such "social dilemmas" assume that the individuals are obliged to participate in the dilemma. These models fail to capture an important element of human interaction: that people are in general free to select their interaction partners. In this book a social dilemma with partner selection is introduced and studied with the methods of formal game theory, experimental economics and computer simulations. It allows exploration of simultaneous dynamics of the network structure and cooperative behavior on this structure. The results of this study show that partner choice strongly facilitates cooperation and leads to networks where free-riders are likely to be excluded.

5 out of 5 stars Much for us all to ponder.......2004-10-23

As a middle-aged woman I have experienced various relationships with men in my personal life, career, and with my father. This book has helped me understand some of my actions with these men; why I have acted like I did throughout my life. The book helped me understand the views men have of women, and women of men. Most importantly, it showed me unhealthy ways men and women deal with each other, and why. It explains how to progress into a path of understanding and healthy interaction and respect. Some of this may be in contradiction to what Dr. Laura preaches and I would like to get her take on this book as it relates to her teachings on the 'proper care and feeding of a husband'.

5 out of 5 stars Why gender equity is needed........1999-09-16

Parity is a priority. Or it must be soon. These authors show why a new appreciation for gender equity is needed. Why the polarity of either dominance or subordinance among males/females doesn't work. At the office. At home. On the town. Throughout one's life. This is a revised and expanded edition of a pioneering book first launched about ten years ago which sought to nurture dialogue between men and women toward a more harmonious context in which to live and work. These new pages reflect an even better understanding of the dynamics among colleagues, especially with updated observations on people of color and gay, lesbian, and bisexual people. Old habits die hard. "The interplay of gender, race, sexual orientation, and class is a reality of our society. Accepting that it is (is) necessary if we are to move on the struggle toward equity." Separate chapers examine men and women in transition, characteristics common to dominant and subordinate conditions. Relevant graphics drive home strategic points, and a terrific fold-out at the back tracks "traditional" women and men toward a common ground. From violence and helplessness to mutual powerment. Why not just pass new laws? Been there, done that. "The law and the legal process still lag far behind the values held by most women and many men. There are limits to what the laws can accomplish." That's why the new paradigm set forth in this book is so valuable. It clearly explains what the problems are, in text and graphics, then points to a trail of solutions. Get with it.

                                3 out of 5 stars OK Book.......2005-10-24

This book is OK but lacks more in depth technical overview of SAP NetWeaver and its components. It has 10 chapters and waits until chapter 9 to dive into some of the technical depth. Much of this depth was so quick that I would not necessarily use the term "depth" to describe it. Could have excluded 3 of the 4 business examples as these were more specific to the industry and the individual company. I was looking for more screen shots and more technical specifications and did not find specifically what I was looking for. It had good content for the company looking to implement a totally new IT infrastructure, however for companies that have already started down that path, it fell it bit short.
