Oh, my Goodness! .......2007-06-03

When I read this book, said, "WOW, this makes sense!" I have been on a good vitamin regime that includes progesterone and following the diet in this book. [...] In two months of the suppliments and progesterone and one month on this diet, I have; no more daily headaches, have slept better, feel refreshed upon waking for the first time in decades, lost 12 pounds, don't feel deprived, lost my cravings for sugar and processed cabs, have better moods, have quite a lot less muscle and joint pain, have more energy, enjoy sex more, have people tell me I am looking good, lost that puffy look in my face and body, have softer skin, my roscaea has lessened, my intestinal and uterine pain has gone away, and my allergies are a lot less, therefore my asthma is not as bad. I am 52, menopausal, with a top weight of 249, (now 237) with chronic pain and headaches. I am unbelievably happy about this diet and plan to continue it to become healthy and strong again. I have a long ways to go, but the start is amazing. I started out with adding butter and cream to my diet and stopped eating sugar and white carbs. I have always had cravings for sugar, but as soon as I got my fill of good fats, I lost my sugar cravings and have not been tempted to eat sugary or processed foods since. I have the cookbook on order and I am reading the other two books Dr. Schwarzbein has written. If you want to be healthy and feel better, read this book and go through her recommendations. You won't regret it. Just be aware that you may feel worse for a short time and then feel much better, it is your body making adjustments and is temporary. It depends on how sick and out of balance your body and system is. You have to stick with it to get good results. I have to say that I certainly do not feel deprived and feel satisfied.

Sensible eating and great for food addictions.......2007-05-30

I am now sold. was 80% there but after 5 pregnancies in 6 years, things went awry. then my mom went to the ER with a blood sugar of 887. I am now 42 with a 10 month old and two other young kids. Mom's visit got my attention. I immediately lost 6 pounds then switched to a cleanse by standard process which was very easy since i was eating pretty healthy anyway. When i got this book, i also signed up for womentowomen personal program. between the diet and the supplements and natural progesterone cream, i was a new woman almost immediately. my chocolate and wine cravings disappeared nearly overnite. I have alot of work to do still, have 20 pounds to go and have to find balance but food in this plan is balanced and a no brainer. even my meat and taters hubby drinks my veggie/fruit/avacado/protein (balanced) smoothies every day. he is hooked. our moods are better, more even. Now am working on my PMS and other menopause issues ala "what your doctor does not tell you about premenopause" by dr. Lee/Hanley and Uzzi Reice (sp?) book. just had my saliva hormones tested and am on the path to join my other girlfriends that feel fabulous. This is not a miracle, it takes a while to get back to a normal eating plan so your body is balanced and not starving. but, its a great plan. I recommend it to my friends. I am now 11 pounds down and headed for 20 more, 5 at at time. And, its not Atkins, you eat veggies and fruits and all things good. you don't eat crap though and i chose to give up coffee (and creamer) as well as limiting my alcohol intake. That with the diet, the good supplements and the natural pg cream, let's just say my husband will keep me a bit longer now (he wanted to hide me in the dumpster from mood swings up until now!!!).

This book is fantastic! My mom actually turned me on to it after reading it herself. It taught me so much about the foods we eat and the foods we should eat. It also talks a lot about carbs. (good and bad) I had no idea that what I had been eating was really destroying my health.(physical and mental) This book was so easy to read and understand. In my oppinion, next to the Bible this is another book that everyone needs to read!!!(at least once) And the diet plan is the easiest I have ever seen!

A revolution in spaceflight is likely soon with the prospect of everyday access to orbit within fifteen years. Costly launch vehicles based on ballistic missiles will be replaced by `spaceplanes', using technology that exists today. In five years' time, a prototype could be built, and with a further ten years of detailed development, the design could approach airliner maturity, reducing the cost of sending people into space some one thousand times to around US$20,000.

Spaceplane development has, in effect, been suppressed by entrenched thinking and short-term vested interests. But the present monopoly of large government space agencies is becoming unsupportable, and the market that understands the very real opportunities for space travel will be reaching critical mass in the near future.

Best Future Looking Book On Spaceflight.......2003-08-18

As a person who has been intimately involved with the manned and unmanned United States space programs I believe Mr. Ashford's new book "Spaceflight Revolution" to be just that, a revolutionary perspective on the future of spaceflight.

Spaceflight Revolution is both pragmatic and scientifically sound. If a fraction of the funding devoted to the aging U.S. Shuttle fleet were spent on the development of a Spaceplane Mr. Ashford's vision of a new, relatively low cost access to space for the normal citizen is within the grasp of this generation.

A Beautiful Account by the True Fifth Beatle.......2002-12-31

Brian Epstein's magnificence and decency as a person, and secondly as manager of the Fab Four, is what really comes across in this warm, revealing account of the rise of the Beatles. I really think that had Brian lived, the boys would never have split up. Argued yes, but split, no. Not if Brian would have had his way. His integrity (such as not going back on a contract, even though it would have meant the Beatles could have made a ton more money) makes me respect him highly. One such incident was referenced by the Ed Sullivan show, which was contracted at a measly amount, before the mop tops took America by storm and were commanding much larger contract dollars. It's seemingly rare to find this kind of integrity in the entertainment industry, and probably garners the criticism of those who later said Brian was a 'poor' manager, not getting the Beatles their due share. Maybe true...but I don't think anyone around them loved the boys more than Mr. Epstein. There's a very interesting anecdote about Brian's wavering loyalties at one point. He was so tired of the strain and the 24 hours a day work that came with being the Beatles' manager, that he considered selling his contract with them, for a good amount of cash. When confronting the boys with this idea, they thought he was joking, then realizing he was serious, threatened to pack up and quit if Brian left. Brian's quote in this regard speaks to his admiration and loyalty, in return, to the boys. After telling his prospective dealer that the deal was off, Brian remarked:
'And this was the point. The Beatles are not a deal. They are unique human beings and I believe that even if the whole thing peters out I will always be with the Beatles. I would like to look after them in some way throughout their lives, not because I want a percentage but because they are my friends'.
And a true friend they, and we all, lost when Brian passed.
Thank the stars above he brought them, and their joy, to the world with his unflagging, unwavering hope and belief that the Beatles were, and are, a once in a lifetime 'deal'.
A must read for any Beatle lover.

Interesting.......2000-09-04

This is an interesting book, though you'll likely have read the story elsewhere in other Beatles books. But it's from the manager's mouth, so worthy in that regard. Some trivia: When (homosexual) Brian asked the other Beatles what he should title the book, John--with his cruel streak--said, "How about `Queer Jew' or `Cellarful of Boys'" Ridiculously, Lennon's cruel streak made Epstein just more infatuated with John!

Just to counter the praise of Brian Epstein's writing in the review below: Epstein didn't write the book; his and the Beatles' press-man Derek Taylor ghost-wrote it (and he himself said he thinks it would have been better if he hadn't written it so quickly).

This book is probably one of the best books I have ever read. I read it constantly and I never can put it down. It is the most beautifully told story of the early beatles from someone who was actually there. A must for ALL Beatles fans.

A great snapshot in time.......1999-06-04

Brian Epstein, by writing this book in the middle of the Beatles phenomenon, provides us with a great snapshot in time - a time unlike any other before or perhaps since. Without being conceited (in fact, he reveals in his own words many of his own faults) he provides a fascinating insight into what was probably one of the great judges of pop music talent of the last 30 years. Reading this now, knowing how Brian's life was to turn out, leads one to wonder just what might have been. His style of writing, more conversational and "simpler" than one might have gathered from his outward appearance, makes this an easy and entertaining read and a must for Beatle fans.

Interesting Look at the Show, But Somewhat Flawed.......2004-04-25

I was so excited to find this book and I often read the chapters on each episode just after seeing the episode on DVD. A lot of the sections are interesting, background summaries on the characters, favorite quotes and moments, topics covered in the particular episode, but there are a couple of things I'm not quite happy with. This mainly focuses on the mistake section cleverly entitled "Logic, Let Me Introduce You to This Window." The section is usually correct, but several times, "flaws" are called into question that aren't really flaws. I'll just give a couple of examples: the book might mention a country or something that is not real, such as the Reykjavik Sympony Orchestra in Episode 31. Well, this is a make-believe world and the book also mentions that fact. Not everything here matches the real world, so we can't say it is a "mistake". Another example is when the book notes that Toby (a Jew) has a Christmas card on his wall. Just because you are Jewish doesn't mean someone won't send you a Christmas or Holiday card (particularly if you work at the White House).

This is a guide book to the hit show the West Wing. It was written by Keith Topping who has authored several other show guides including Buffy, Angel and Roswell. This covers seasons 1-3 of the show.

I like this book and the author's style of writing. It does not contain in depth episode synopsis or analysis so those looking for that would have to look elsewhere. This book is meant for those who have seen the episodes and want more in depth knowledge. It covers

Interesting companion volume to the Script Book.......2003-03-27

This companion to the hugely popular television show provides good context and background for viewers (like me) of the show. It would have gotten five stars, but there is more focus on the actors' histories, and some details were left out, otherwise, not bad. I'd recommend the "script" book and the larger West Wing book. The lines in "A Proportional Response", ironically, apply to the current situation in Iraq. Check out the lines: "...death of an American, any American, and we come back with total disaster..." and you'll see what I mean.

West Wing fan? Buy this..........2002-11-14

Bringing the same nitpicking skill and attention to detail Mr. Topping has used in writing episode guides for cult hit favourites Buffy, Angel and Roswell, Inside Bartlet's White House: An Unauthorised and Unofficial Guide to The West Wing is a superb book that deals with every aspect of the show, from the real-life politics that it deals with, to the little continuity errors that inevitably creep in to any series (as well as a few horrible clangers).

This book is amazing! I actually wanted to read every page of my assigned reading and it was very easy to understand. The diagrams are only drawings, but they are simple and realistic. The book is outlined very well and I highly recommend it.
