save your money.......2006-03-21

I agree with the other negative reviews. This book is a complete waste of money. It only covers the basics--and not very well. The chapter on FPGA fabrics had me scratching my head. I was able to find much better (and much less expensive) resources online. Trust me, there's no topic this book covers that you can't find for free on the Internet. Don't waste your money. Just because someone's from Princeton doesn't mean they know how to write a book.

Not for beginners.......2005-08-17

I was really disappointed with this book. It does not explain enough FPGA programming to get started, and spends much time covering topics that are probably of interest to people who already know how to use an FPGA and want to use it better.However, as far as I can tell about this, it seems to be an excellent complement to an introduction to FPGAs design. The inner workings of the system are explained in depth and very clearly.

Beginner book.......2005-03-09

A entry level book, with too much time spent on VLSI issues, with a lot of large screenshoots & large pictures just to fill in the space.

The mentioned "A start-to-finish DSP case study addressing a wide range of design problems" which made me buy the book is a joke. It's hardly a advanceed DSP unit, more a Harward architecture CPU which implements 5 or 6 instructions and no advanced functionality and design issues which might arise in a complex design.

You can find much better synthethiable cores free on internet to learn from them. Save your money if you are anything but a beginer in FPGA.

An Excellent Contemporary (2004) Text!.......2004-09-02

This contemporary text by Wayne Wolf is an excellent work. For an EE or CS looking for just one book to own on FPGA design and reconfigurable computing, this is it.

Fault-tolerance in integrated circuits is not an exclusive concern regarding space designers or highly-reliable application engineers. Rather, designers of next generation products must cope with reduced margin noises due to technological advances. The continuous evolution of the fabrication technology process of semiconductor components, in terms of transistor geometry shrinking, power supply, speed, and logic density, has significantly reduced the reliability of very deep submicron integrated circuits, in face of the various internal and external sources of noise. The very popular Field Programmable Gate Arrays, customizable by SRAM cells, are a consequence of the integrated circuit evolution with millions of memory cells to implement the logic, embedded memories, routing, and more recently with embedded microprocessors cores. These re-programmable systems-on-chip platforms must be fault-tolerant to cope with present days requirements. This book discusses fault-tolerance techniques for SRAM-based Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). It starts by showing the model of the problem and the upset effects in the programmable architecture. In the sequence, it shows the main fault tolerance techniques used nowadays to protect integrated circuits against errors. A large set of methods for designing fault tolerance systems in SRAM-based FPGAs is described. Some presented techniques are based on developing a new fault-tolerant architecture with new robustness FPGA elements. Other techniques are based on protecting the high-level hardware description before the synthesis in the FPGA. The reader has the flexibility of choosing the most suitable fault-tolerance technique for its project and to compare a set of fault tolerant techniques for programmable logic applications.

This is the French government at its finest. A group of French academicians lucidly and brilliantly explain the philosophy, economics, quandries and implications of electricity pricing policies. Absolute "must read" for anyone in this field who does not already have PhD level understanding.

A joy to read and ponder.

I felt this was a fun read. I had a little trouble getting into it at first, but then I kept wanting to read more. Not a bad first novel. As a mom, I know that I want to save my kids from evil and how cool would it be to have super powers that enable you to do that? Scary too I ould imagine.

Definitely worth checking out!

I picked this book up because of the cover and because my daughter has been obsessed with superheros her whole life. The story is a page-turner, tugging at themes that, as parents, we all struggle through--negotiating our consumer oriented, media saturated world, family dynamics etc. The tongue-in-cheek, slighty "noir" style of writing increases the sensation that such a story really could happen to you, if only certain things fell into place.

It was a wonderful, uplifting fun read that I have been recommending to everyone. I am also really hoping for a sequel!

Loved this book - a real guilty pleasure. Deep? No. The plot is formulaic, but the way she twists the details made me continually curious as to how she would play with this formula. I'm a mom and a sci-fi fan- a great book for fantasy loving moms. Also, I could relate to her deep concern for children and wanting to make the world a better place. I share the fantasy. Highly recommended beach read.

"Confessions of Super Mom" is charming and amusing, with a disarmingly likable cast of characters. The book playfully dissects the conventions of super-hero comics, while also incorporating the realities of raising teenagers; and Hauser does it all with wisdom and a pop-culture savvy. Thoroughly entertaining.

This was a really fun book to read. I'm glad that a friend of mine suggested it to me. The characters were easy to relate too and it was well written.
