OK, so I don't own the book.......2006-12-07
Buy Harry's book! I took Juniper factory training from Harry around 2001. He was an absolutely wonderful teacher, and a genuine expert in both JUNOS and IP networking in general. You could tell he had real-world experience to support his system knowledge as a Juniper staffer. If he writes even half as well as he teaches, this is sure to be a great resource.
The Complete Reference for JNCIP Lab.......2006-03-30
This is the only and comprehensive JNCIP lab preparation book available today. The book is well written and covers complete coverage of JNCIP lab.If you understand this book you are good for the actual Lab.
Superb book superb quality.......2005-01-15
If you are appearing for JNCIP or read how the routing protocols operate in a multi protocol environment with Juniper routers, your best bet is JNCIP book. The book covers lot of scenarios and case studies in great detail. The author/editors need to be commended for such scintillating efforts on publishing a very good book on Juniper routers. This book not only can be used for preparing for the JNCIP exam but also you can put it in your library for reference. But one thing is for sure, this is a great book and better to have a copy f it. I have benefitted by going through this book.
Passed JNCIP Lab.......2004-06-03
I passed my JNCIP lab using this book and have scheduled my JNCIE for August 2004. I highly recommend this book to anyone that supports Juniper routers or plans to take the exam.

Book Description
The Little House books have captivated millions of readers with their story of Laura Ingalls, a little pioneer girl growing up on the American frontier. Now travel back to the generation before Laura's and read the story of Caroline Quiner, the little girl who would grow up to be Ma Ingalls in the beloved Little House books.
The little town of Concord, Wisconsin, is bustling with new settlers from the East. Caroline is now eleven years old, and she can't wait to go to the town's new school. Her days are full with classes, chores, and harvesttime. Wisconsin has its very first state fair, and Caroline becomes friends with a fiddle-playing boy from accross the river, a boy named Charles Ingalls.
Across The Rolling River is the fifth book in the Caroline Years, an ongoing series about the adventures of another girl from America's favorite pioneer family.
Customer Reviews:
Pretty Good.......2007-03-10
Although these books can't be compared to Laura's writing, they are still pretty good. This is where Caroline first meets Charles.
A more industrialized community.......2006-04-16
Caroline is coming of age, and learning that there are many challenges of coming of age. She learns that it is not just play, and not just taking it easy now. She must take on some of the duties that other young ladies take on, and also must learn to act like a lady. Her curiosity about a boy continues her whim of wanting to know more about him. If you would like to read more about Caroline and her budding friendship with Charles then this is the book for you to read.
Rollin' on a River.......2005-01-14
Okay, let me first start off by saying that I love the cover on this book. I know the whole saying, but you can still love the cover, can't you? After all, it IS one of the nicer and well-illustrated covers I've seen in ages. But I also love Celia Wilkins's way of writing Caroline, especially this book in the series. I've read it so many times, it's not funny.
Caroline is now eleven at the start of this book. She is now at thinking about other things, like the things that she used to enjoy and loved to do now start to make her think if she really wants to. She sometimes feels torn between being a child and acting as 'funny' as her older sister by trying to be grown-up.
Her love for learning still goes on, with the new teacher, called Miss May, boards with her family. She loves her new teacher, and all of the things she does, like reading to her, and helping her with other things.
What I like best (and what many others can agree) is that a boy by the name of Charlie Ingalls enters the picture. Caroline and her brother Henry find him 'playin' with the birds,' and the Quiners and the Ingallses build a frinedship. Caroline likes the family, and even wonders 'why Charlie would make her want to giggle when she was determined to spell him down.'
I think this is the best book in the Caroline years so far (mostly because of Charlie, of course), because the family is seeing nice times, and that Celia Wilkins shows she can do a good job with carrying on the 'Little House' legend.
Please, more Pa!.......2003-07-02
This series keeps getting better and better. I enjoyed reading about Pa's family, and the members that were around for the Big Dance, grown up, in The Big Woods.
I guess my only complaint for this book and other books in the series is the lack of quality illustrations. Who can mimic Garth Williams exactly, but I the missing illustrations hurt visualizing some things that would be foriegn to readers 150 years later.
Great Book that Finally brings "Pa" into the picture!!!.......2003-05-08
This is an excellent book that, if you don't have any plans for the next few hours, I'd sit down and read! You can't put this book down for a second, not even to answer the phone! I want to see more books about Caroline out on the market soon, I've been waiting for over a year now since this book came out!

Eurydice takes as her model the Roman writer Petronius, who claimed that his salacious Satyricon was "simple realism and nothing more." Her vivid tour of America's sexual underside in the mid-1990s--ranging from suburban sadomasochism to male cross-dressing conferences, from lesbian bloodletting rituals to supersize Texas strip clubs--is only slightly less fantastic than the original Satyricon, and would be worth reading solely for anthropological interest (or voyeuristic thrill) even if it were not also exceptionally well written, lively, and acute.
Sadly, perhaps, the author finds most of the contemporary deviant practices she observes to be joyless and vaguely pernicious, "the tricky disguise of our self-denials as sexual excesses." Alert to the reactionary undertow complicating each of these supposed advances, Eurydice is especially suspicious of our rush to define our sexual identities in ever-more-specific terms (butch bottom boy, radical fairy, bigenderist, transbisexual), codifying and policing what ought to be fluid and anarchic. "Words and signs are displacing our genitals," she argues. "Emancipation has brought us no peace." --Regina Marler
Book Description
Satyricon USA is a groundbreaking tour of America's contemporary sexual landscape, Written by a young woman who has already been called "the most compelling writer of sex in the English language." Like Petronius, the ancient Roman writer she takes as her model, Eurydice presents a firsthand account of the chaos of human sexuality in all its kinky, confused, and transgressive expressions. With a style that combines erudition, wit, and hipness, and audaciously draws on both the factual authority of journalism and the atmospheric license of fiction, Eurydice transports us inside the nightmarish, breathtaking realms of dungeons and bloodletting clubs, cross-dressing conferences, supersized strip emporiums, as well as military bases and Catholic monasteries. In one chapter she accompanies a sex addict on a voracious nightlong escapade, in the next she meets with men and women who claim to have ongoing sexual relations with aliens, in another she describes the bone-chilling desires of neighborhood necrophiliacs.
Her aim is to understand these people who are drawn to the farthest sexual "fringe." On her journeys, Eurydice learns that, in fact, they are well-educated middle- to upper-class professional Americans. They are housewives and stockbrokers, college students and grandparents, doctors and priests. Drawing on hundreds of interviews, Eurydice probes people's dual lives to answer some fundamental questions: Why is our society simultaneously obsessed with and afraid of sex? How does this widespread sexual eccentricity coexist with our puritanical hysteria about sexual harassment and "moral turpitude"? Are we today more liberated or actually more confined than in the past? Rules and stereotypes, Eurydice reports, are emerging in new forms. As she writes: "What I encountered were mostly ancient, confining sexual mores going by new, emancipatory names." Daring and ferociously smart, Eurydice dives into the "deviant" lifestyle to untangle the contradictions of our modern morality. A unique blend of reportage, memoir, extensive research, and incisive analysis, Satyricon USA is a compelling portrait of a nation in the midst of redefining its sexual issues and needs.
Customer Reviews:
Judgements made on a once-over.......2005-12-07
If you'd like to read an insightful, psychoanalytic analysis of various fetish communities and sexual subcultures, this is not the book you're looking for. Eurydice seems to be bringing a lot of baggage with her on this trip, not the least of which seems to be an unspoken desire to go back to the fifties, at least in terms of outward gender roles and (according to an interview) in terms of our knowledge of sexuality and the various ways in which it plays itself out.
If you don't know anything about sexual subcultures, please don't get this book. It provides a skewed vision that can lead one to beleive that all sexual subgroups are made up of nuts. May I suggest Violet Blue's
The Ultimate Guide to Sexual Fantasy instead? She also has a new book that interviews people within fetish communities coming out soon.
snarky attitude + armchair psychology = this bad book.......2004-11-24
This author thinks she's being really cutting edge by writing an expose about the "new sexual frontier" of America. However, she does little but expose her own narrow-minded hatefulness. Let me warn you that she despises the subject matter of her own book.
Her main theses can be summed up: 1)anti-sex feminists have ruined the normal hetero relationship, 2)transsexuals are ugly and wear bad drag and cannot have emotional relationships because they're already a complete male/female unit unto themselves, 3)all people who practice sadomasochism are lame and boring people who are just trying to seem interesting, and 4) lesbians are frigid women who hate themselves. She "proves" these theses by going to fetish balls and bars or finding particularly unbalanced individuals to interview, and then claiming her personal negative reactions to things that don't float her boat are universal truths.
She'll try to tell you that she isn't a judgmental bigot -- in fact she devotes the whole first chapter to proclaiming her objectivity. However, if you are actually interested in the types of people she discusses, you should look to another source. All she provides in this book is groundless psychobabble skewering all and sundry. She tries to present herself as hip and today, so free of hang-ups that she is willing to explore any scene, yet she refuses to ever see her subjects as people and instead defends her own lack of understanding via the most dehumanizing pet theories of 20th C psychologists.
American Eroticism Inside and Out.......2000-05-07
This book is sexy and brainy at once, which is a rarity. The author takes us to many American towns and communities where we meet soldiers, teachers, bankers, doctors, crossdressers, sex addicts, strippers, knife-loving lesbians, sadomasochists, necrophiliacs, people who sleep with aliens, you name it. The author makes all these people seem normal even as they are so bizarre. She knows sex and human nature and has brilliant comments throughout that make you think. It's exciting, it's informative, it's original. I don't think there's another book on sex so good anywhere around. I heard Eurydice on Bob Berkowitz's Lovebytes on e-yada last week. She writes the Sex Files column for Gear magazine and has an erotic novel out called f/32 I think.
A Classic About Sex in 1999.......2000-03-17
This is a book chockful of ideas, scenes, suggestions, and a great pleasure to read. I never looked up. The topic is intriguing, the characters real and wild. Sex is everywhere in it and so is America. It's a classic, and there aren't many on this topic. It's not dumbed down, but there's nothing wrong with having moments of brilliance. This will be around a long time, much longer than most books written about sex these days, and books will be written about it. It is a travelogue and a philosophical treatise on modern sexuality. It turned me on And it made me think.
intelligent synopsis of fringe sexuality.......1999-05-27
This is a smart book, thoughtful and perceptive. It's obviously not meant to provide juicy tidbits -- the reader from Austin, Texas is right, there's nothing new and shocking, but then he obviously missed the point entirely and picked up the book for the wrong reason (recommendation to him/her: try the animal section at your local porn store). I think the author of the book captures well the hypocracy (sp?) of sexuality in America at the end of the century, where "abnormal" sex is so common as to not be aberrant anymore, yet where puritanism still permeates the culture. No jollies here, just good analyis and some very interesting characters opening themselves up. I recommend it.

Book Description
Many problems in classical mechanics can now be readily solved using computers. This text integrates Maple, a general-purpose symbolic computation program, into the traditional sophomore- or junior-level mechanics course. Intended primarily as a supplement to a standard text, it discusses all the topics usually covered in the course and shows how to solve problems using Maple and how to display solutions graphically to gain further insight. The text is self-contained and can also be used for self-study or as the primary text in a mechanics course.
Customer Reviews:
It sure wasn't what we were looking for........1999-03-30
We used this book as the textbook for a course on Classical Mechanics at Trinity Western University. The actual book was decent, but there were only about 6 practice questions (on average) for each of the 5 chapters. My professor had to resort to giving us supplementary material so we could cover all of the material of a University-level Mechanics class. The book was okay, but it could have used some work.

The City of Falling Angels
ASIN: 1579660622
Release Date: 2005-05-01 |
Book Description
When from the sheer weight of humanity and its assorted accouterments the Charleston Peninsula broke off from mainland South Carolina and began floating out to sea, among the last to notice were those persons trapped on board the unlikely vessel. . . .
So begins the tale of latter-day Charleston and its curious secession. The schism occurs when the Sportsman's Jamboree (including Hunters for Jesus), the Bravado Arts Festival, and the Tri-County Mini-Storage Convention converge on the city at once. Native Charlestonians (those "born right the first time") and an accumulation of tourists-or "cumyahs"-and carpetbaggers now find themselves unbound from the conventions of family, community, even geography. Following the course of the errant island and its inhabitants as they wrestle with the new reality of living a life adrift, Charlie Geer presents a masterful and hilarious send-up of the nuances of entrenched society and the foibles of the human condition.
Customer Reviews:
Read this book!.......2006-03-04
Truth is stranger than fiction? Not in the case of OUTBOUND. This outlandish and enormously funny novel takes the reader on a voyage that culminates with the most unlikely of bedfellows in the strangest of circumstances. All this while offering a bona fide view of present day Charleston. A marvelous first work, I couldn't put it down.
An amusing novel that imagines what might enfold if latter-day Charleston.......2005-08-08
Outbound: The Curious Secession of Latter-Day Charleston is an amusing novel that imagines what might enfold if latter-day Charleston were to schism from the nation of America and become an errant island. Satirizing the faults of established society, Outbound includes such unusual institutions as the Hunters for Jesus, the Bravado Arts Festival, and the Tri-County Mini-Storage Convention caught up in the midst of Charleston's sudden islandization. Told in wry and witty tones, Outbound is sure to bring a chuckle as it offers a unique brand of humor touching all things South Carolinian.
Laugh Out Loud Southern Wit.......2005-07-19
Charlie Geer's novel imagines what would happen if Charleston, South Carolina broke off from the mainland -- "seceded" -- and floated out to sea, with its collection of eccentric bluebloods and tacky "cumyahs" forced to work through the crisis together.
The book's tone is firmly established right on page one. As the penninsula begins its voyage across the Atlantic, the first to notice is an 88-year-old life-long Charlestonian, who, as he observes Fort Sumter floating past his front porch, takes out his revolver and fires -- thrilled to finally have such a close-range opportunity to shoot at "the old Yankee fort."
The story moves quickly, spirited on by Geer's ability to decorate his fantastic premise with the kind of details that remind this reviewer of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's magical realism. For example, while the members of the prestigious and snooty Atlantic Club take measurements and pour over charts in an attempt to plot their course -- not sure if they are headed for Africa, Iceland, or somewhere in between -- Geer notes that Charleston's delightful springtime weather contiues to sail with them. It is a testament to the fact that this historic and somewhat anachronistic Southern city is itself one of the story's strongest characters, struggling to hold on to every aspect of its identity despite the myriad of forces literally threatening to tear it apart.
The fast pace and sharp humor are reminiscent of Carl Hiaasen. All in all, this book is laugh-out-loud hilarious. If you're a fan of good Southern wit, then it is an absolute must read.
Humor and Insight.......2005-07-10
Geer has written a very amusing and entertaining satire based on the several societies that make up Charleston, SC. Underneath the humor, though, is a thoughtful commentary on human nature. You don't have to be from Charleston to enjoy and appreciate this novel. If you come from a place with an aristocracy based on length of residence, mixed with an aristocracy based on wealth, combined with some "good ole boys", a proud minority, a few fanatical religious kooks, and an "artsy" crowd, then you are thoroughly prepared to enjoy this book. It's a good read!
Charleston like never before.......2005-06-16
Charlie Geer pegs Charleston like never before. If you know Charleston, then this book is for you. I read the book in one sitting - I could not put it down! Hilarious from cover to cover. This was the first fiction novel that I have enjoyed in years, and it is sure to please every reader likewise.
