THE BOOK IS GOOD FOR SHOWING THE LEVELS, BUT IT SHOULD SHOW THE ENEMIES HIDING SPACES. AND IT SHOULD SHOW IF THERE ARE CHEATS FOR HELP. THERE SHOULD ALSO BE DIFFERENT CHARACTERS YOU CAN PLAY AND WEAPONS YOU CAN USE. IT SHOULD ALSO HAVE CO-OP SO YOU CAN PLAY THE GAME WITH YOUR FRIENDS TO BEAT IT WITHOUT HAVING TO PLAY TWOPLAYER

The first section of the book contains seven original essays, arranged in order to coincide with Bill's (chronological) professional career. These essays cover a wide variety of real estate topics, including valuation theory, definition of market value, market analysis, the appraisal process, role of the appraiser as an expert witness, valuation under environmental contamination, and international real estate issues.

The second section of the book reprints eleven of Bill's most influential papers, selected with the help of forty of his colleagues. These articles, written by Bill and various co-authors, represent only a portion of his contributions to real estate theory and practice. They are "classics" in real estate education.

The final section contains personal reflections by colleagues, family and friends of Bill. One of Bill's most influential publications is his classic text, "Income Property Valuation", and is frequently cited in the testimonials. These testimonials provide clear evidence that Bill was an excellent teacher and real estate professional. He truly cared about his students and colleagues and worked hard to move the real estate profession forward.

The separation of powers along functional lines--legislative, executive, and judicial--has been a core concept of American constitutionalism ever since the Revolution. As noted constitutional law scholar Gerhard Casper points out in this collection of essays, barren assertions of the importance of keeping the powers separate do not capture the complexity of the task when it is seen as separating power flowing from a single source--the people. Popular sovereignty did not underlie earlier versions of the separation of powers doctrine.

Casper vividly illustrates some of the challenges faced by Washington, Adams, Hamilton, Madison, Gallatin, Jefferson, and many others in Congress and the executive branch as they guided the young nation, setting precedents for future generations. He discusses areas such as congressional-executive relations, foreign affairs, appropriations, and the Judiciary Act of 1789 from the separation of powers vantage point.

The picture of our government's formative years that emerges here, of a rich and overlapping understanding of responsibilities and authority, runs counter to rigid, syllogistic views. Separating Power gives us a clear portrait of the issues of separation of power in the founding period, as well as suggesting that in modern times we should be reluctant to tie separation of powers notions to their own procrustean bed.

BACK TO THE TREES!.......2007-03-10

This book was recommended to be by a French friend. It was as funny as he said it was. It points out the beginnings of human nature as man evolves and advances and some resist change. It was a fast and fun read, but I will never forget Uncle Vanya and his famous quote, "back to the trees!" anytime a challenge came up.

The Funniest Book in Pre-History.......2007-03-08

This may well be the funniest book I have ever read. And I've read the gamut of funny books, from those by Douglas Adams to Art Buchwald to Bill Bryson.

Roy Lewis (re)creates a prehistoric tribe that has all the dry practicality of a mid-20th century American or English suburban family. In fact, that's essentially what they are; they just happen to live in a cave in the Pleistocene. The humor of Lewis' characters lies in the prescience he imbues in them: they are keenly aware they are evolving, and they'll do everything they can to do it right. Thus the laughs are in the modern parallels: the book was first published in 1960, just after a decade of the post-war, space-age optimism--tempered with a healthy dose of fear of the Red Menace--that flooded the United States and Europe. In short, Lewis' prehistoric family maintains the same "can-do, future's so bright" outlook that was found in much of the post-war 1950s West. Consider the opening lines:

"When the winds blew strongly from the North, bringing an icy reminder that the great ice-cap was still advancing, we used to pile all our stores of brushwood and broken trees in front of the cave, make a really roaring fire, and tell ourselves that however far south it came this time, even in Africa, we could meet it and beat it."

The stone-age family is kept on track by the father, who is ever concerned with his brood's evolutionary progress and is always vigilant for any sign of regression. Upon seeing a child still crawling at age two, he yells: "We started walking upright back in the Miocene, and if you think I am going to tolerate the destruction of millions of years of progress...you are mistaken. Keep that child on his hind legs..."

Of course, as the subtitle of the book indicates, even the most foresighted caveman will fail to make fire eventually. And then the next generation takes over. You can't stop progress. But you MUST read this book.

one of the funniest books I have ever read.......2006-10-25

First heard of this one on an NPR segment entitled "what to read instead of shooting yourself in the middle of winter." It gets funnier with each re-reading. Just get this one.

Brilliant, Side-Splitting Look At Family Life.......2004-12-16

You MUST read this book if you are into parenting, humor and/or family books. The ingenious concept of critiquing "modern" (circa 1960) life in the stone age is thoroughly explored and carried out with grace, insight, intelligence and literally laugh-out-loud humor. Truly a one-of-a-kind book. I read it in my small-town library in the late 60s and was so surprised it had been re-published. Thank god. If you're looking for another hilarious, smart and offbeat book about family life, try "I Sleep At Red Lights: A True Story of Life After Triplets," by Bruce Stockler.
