Charming book.......2007-06-12
The book gives you ancient Babylonian wisdom of finances that are so relevant to the twenty first century. It was written over 50 years ago and will always remain a classic in my eyes. It is written in a story- fashion and very cleverly so. The language used is old English, which adds to the book a touch of sophistication, most charming. The lessons are valuble for every era and generation.
Parents would be wise if they can coax their teenagers to read this book.
Most enjoyable once you get immersed into it. The end has a nice surprise!
Wealth in Ancient Ways.......2007-05-23
This book showed me how to manage my money and be wealthy, not just with money. I know for myself I like to spend, spend, spend and spend. The book has showen me ways to plan for the future.
A Seminal Text on Money Management that Everyone Should Read.......2007-03-25
This allegorical telling of how a man in ancient Babylon arose from poverty to become the richest man in Babylon and a councilor to the king. This is so important I reread it from time to time and have given it to me children. The audio copy is excellently executed.

I found this book to be inspiring and informative. I loved the story format and the fact that it was based on a city many, many years ago and the basic fundamental message is the same today. A worthwhile purchase!
The Essential Fundamentals.......2006-11-17
There are so many books and recordings out there on how to create wealth. The problem with these books are that they can only be implemented when you have accumulated certain amount of money (typically around $500k in assets), so it wouldnt benefit the average joe. On the other hand if you do possess the required assets, it is still a struggle to double your wealth because you dont have the knowledge of the fundamentals of creating wealth.
Majority of the information out there would explain to you how to increase your assets, but what they dont explain to you is how to start with "Nothing" and create wealth. "The richest man in babylon" clearly addresses this important issue and have to admit that majority of the informations out there lack this principle. It is like teaching you how to write sentences without you knowing your ABC's,... and thats why lots of informations on creating wealth fails with so many people.
Being successful in any area of your life means grasping and mastering the fundamentals, and "The richest man in babylon" delivers the fundamentals clearly, precisely and easily.
I give this a 5stars based on the high quality of educational content it provides to its listener/reader(from all walks of life).

This book is like going to a Sunday school class. It talks about Biblical times and the struggles of people living in harsh times. It also talks about people who want to grow rich and the things they do to become successful. "The Richest Man in Babylon" treated his employees generously and regularly gave a portion of his profits to the poor in his community. As a merchant he was fair and honest and dependable. The story does tell how to become rich and the road to riches is available to any person who follows the simple principles in this book.

Starts out with easy to read introduction with block diagrams. The next chapter goes into troubleshooting equipment and tools which was good. Beginning with the chapter on maintenance, it tries to show the parts that need to be lubricated and cleaned. With "Determining the Problem" chapter, the amateur is left behind in favor of the seasoned technician, introducing acromnyms and VCR model numbers without explaination. From there on, it gets worse with full schematic diagrams guaranteed to have beginners running to the service center. The pictures are in black and white and hard to make out (quality equal to a photo copier) left me disappointed. The following chapters goes in to problems with each section of the vcr ending with case studies of classic problems likely to be encoutered by techs. I a have background in digital and audio electronics but haven't work in video electronics (TV) since 1981. I thought this book with it's 180 pgs and medium text would get me up to speed on the state of the art. Unforuntately it failed for me. I gave it 2 stars since it could help seasoned service techs with better a better background on the subject then myself. I'm opting for a text book.

The first four chapters of this practical guide allow do-it-yourselfers to take charge of maintaining and repairing their own VCRs for optimum performance. THE AUTHORS
Gregory R. Capelo is the owner of a VCR and VTR repair facility in El Cajon, California. He has serviced broadcast, consumer, and industrial video equipment for more than 14 years. He has taught numerous technical courses to private, government, and industrial technicians on the theory and maintenance of video and television equipment. Currently a trainer for Panasonic, he has been an expert witness in VCR patent infringement cases.
Robert C. Brenner is an engineer and lecturer with extensive experience in microcomputers and system repair. He has written several successful books, including earlier editions of VCR Troubleshooting and Repair.

This book explains a major justification of nuclear and accelerator research, other than searching for knowledge for its own sake. One way to test the practicality of research is to look for applications of it, outside the field.
Which is this book's subject. Protons and muons can be used as probes into various macroscopic materials. This is distinguished from physics research where those particles are used as probes at the microscopic level, of unstable particles. Here, you can see descriptions of Rutherford Back Scattering. Techniques from the dawn of modern physics. Now very useful as probes of materials. Likewise, muons can also be used as probes.
Aside from probes, they can also be used actively in processing steps. For example, to anneal a heterostructure at a precise depth, where you can adjust this depth by varying the kinetic energy of the incident protons.

Solid state physics is a complex area which needs a full arsenal of experimental techniques to uncover all its intriguing aspects. The present book presents selected results from a couple of methods where phenomena in solids are observed from points of view that fall somewhat outside the experimental mainstream, but have contributed with unique information to the understanding of magnetism, supercondivity, point defects in metals, surface and interface physics and the physics and chemistry of metal/hydrogen systems, in particular diffusion phenomena. The PAC and uSR methods described here are based on the observations of local magnetic and electric fields and their dynamic behaviour by recording the spin motion of excited nuclei and implanted positive muons, respectively; another method utilizes the electrostatic interaction of protons for the study of metallic multilayers and their interfaces. The text is centered on the relevant physical problems rather than being method-oriented and puts the specific, and sometimes unique, information gained by the above mentioned methods into a general perspective.

Engrossing, haunting tale.......2006-04-19
This is a fascinating story of a proud, beautiful and prosperous city celebrating its' centennial. The city, Pottsville, Pennsylvania was the centre of the countries' anthracite coal industry-an industry whose hold on the American economy was beginning to give way. At a time of much joy and pride the citizens of Pottsville, PA would be stunned and shocked by an unspeakable crime. A monster walked among the good citizens of Pottsville but they never knew it until it was much too late. In plain language Mr. Zane takes the reader from the entertainment and joy of the City's celebrations, introduced them to the rich and powerful and then delivers a heart wrenching punch to the mind and heart. Absorbing, hard to put down.
